Susan Howard (Bowman)

As I was driving home from Katy yesterday the song that kept going through my head was "Oh What a Night!!!!"  I think that about sums up our wonderful reunion!  What a great evening!  Friday evening was so much fun, too, just relaxing and catching up with classmates, some I hadn't seen since graduation.  It was like we just picked up where we left off!  Memories, memories, memories!  So much laughter and so many hugs!  We are still looking GOOD!!  Most of all, we are a close knit group and we will stay that way!

Pat sorry I didnt get to talk to you about your dog Saturday night. I could have sworn I talked to you! Maybe it was Friday night!  Well, I would never ignore you, or anyone at the reunion at least not on purpose...sometimes I get a little overwhelmed at all the great people at a reunion, and then lose my focus...awed, is probably the correct word. Got to see folks I havent seen in 30 to 50 years.  But, I love good animal stories like your food stealing pup! I know you probably wont get to fudds now that you have moved out of town, but next time we do get together, I will reserve my ears for your pet stories...or, if we ever do get to move in to our ghost house in chappell hill, yall have a standing invitation...if the gates open, we're home, and come on up! (bring accompianing photos/slide show)...I love looking at photos!

Yeah, your pup needs to herd something...our Catahoula is a herder, and a food stealer. He herds the cats, or use to until Annie-bob took exception to his nosing her behind...she turned around and gave him what for in the form of  a bloody nose...he's a smart dog, keeps his distance now...I think Annie-Bob was trying to make amends for her lack of tolerance. She knocked two cans of cat food on the floor. I heard them hit, and thought since Diane was standing right there, she would pick them up. Diane was distracted by something else, and didnt pick them up and I forgot all about them.  Went into the bedroom where Jack likes to hang out, and there was one can opened and empty, and he was just finishing the other...didnt need a canopener, just his canines!  It is also not beneath him to jump up and catch a bug and eat it, any bug!

I NEED A JOB AT REUNIONS...Next reunion, gonna see if the committee will let me do something useful, something in official capacity, maybe serving COFFEE, or  being  the DJ, I promise to have COUNTRY MUSIC TWO STEPS, AND MUSTANG SALLY, or maybe being the official photographer....I tried that at Fudds one time, had a new camera, but no one wanted their picture taken and had me erase them, I was happy to oblige...cant blame em, I dont especially want mine taken either...I dont look like me, just my grandfather!  Wish I'd taken my camera and equipment to the reunion, I could have at least made a group picture...even gotten everyone in it...I can do that you know...wide angle lenses and tripods etc....

My phone has a recorder, so next time I think I will turn it on and just announce the name of the person I talk to, that way I wont forget who I talked to!

I'm just not good standing around trying to talk folks and sound interesting...I generally run out of things to say after 5 or 10 minutes....although I do talk incessantly about Cooper and his amazing magic...

thanks again to all the folks that attended the reunion and made it such a success...

Ditto to everyone's messages - Reunion was unbelievable thanks to all of you!!!!heart  And Frances Parker we missed you!  I kept looking for you, as were others!  Hopefully next time.  Johnny will probably be planning a weekend (Saturday) gathering in the Spring time - maybe we'll see you then.

I've just posted pictures from Friday night's gathering at the Bistro Bar - Woodlands under the "Class Reunions 2014 - 1974" tab on the left hand column -- enjoy!!! If I've ID anyone wrong or misspelled, please let me know.

The Saturday night Reunion pictures will be posted tomorrow - well, at least some of them!

Thank you for posting the photos, jackie.  It was amazing to look at them and know who 90% were without reading the names.  I see photos and remember personalities.

Ronna Brand

I just wanted to add in my thanks to all of the reunion committe who did such a spectacular job setting up the class of 64 for a wonderful reunion weekend!  I know that you all put in so much time and energy getting everything accomplished and I know I speak for everyone in saying you are truly appreciated!  We are all so fortunate to have graduated with such dedicated folks!

Pat - Thanks!  I just realized I missed pictures of you and Ron!!  How did I do that -- there's probably others I missed also.  If someone else took pictures Friday night, please email to me.

And sorry you had to change your plans for Saturday evening because of your sudden eye infection.  You were missed and what bad timing to miss our 50th!!!   I hope your eye is better and maybe next time you are in town come to Fudd's.

Ronna -  you are "so right" our class is the most dedicated, loving, caring group possible.  I'm honored to be a part of it and can say "The Class of '64" is the BEST!!!!!

Hugs,

I would also like to chime in here and says thanks again to the reunion committee for putting the whole thing together. Good venue; the ballroom was just about the right size for our group, good turnout – kudos to all, good band, good food and from the remarks I’ve read, a good time was had by all. I’m not going to try to recount all that I spoke with but will agree with Beau that Dennis Dorsey may have been the most interesting man in the room……I wonder if he drinks dos XXs beer?

Talking with Larry York after all those years, it’s like nothing has changed in the last 50 or so.

I enjoyed it so much, when driving to Aransas Sunday morning thinking about the night before, grinning to myself about my old friends, I got a speeding ticket!

Reminds me of a line from a Dolly Parton/Kenny Rogers song: “you can’t make old friends” and that’s a fact Jack!

Jackie,

Thanks soooo much for taking and posting all the pics from Friday night.  You apologized because one of the pictures I am in is blurry.  Are you kidding?  At this age, I look better 'blurry'.  I look forward to seeing the pics from Saturday night.  Again, what a fabulous reunion it was from start to finish!!!!!

Pat W - you are too funny!!!   Well, I did take a few more blurries at the Saturday night gathering, but oh, well, as you say -- blurry is good.

Wayne - glad you had fun and so sorry for the speeding ticket!!  Yes, reminscing ---  I'm still in the reunion mode and hard to get with it at the office!!   I just daydream all day about reunion and the wonderful terrific fun gathering we had.  I enjoyed visitng with everyone and sorry those that I missed, just not enough time!!!  Maybe I'll just turn over the photographer part to BroBeau next reunion, he said he needed something to do, then I can visit more.

I'll be posting more pictures today -----

Hugs,

J

Wow, going back to see the pics our "Fabulous Jackie" took of "THE REUNION" is so heart warming. First, I want to thank all who called, texted, and sent cards to me after my fall and surgery. It certainly gave to me the determination to get up and make sure I was going to be at the Reunion...one way or the other. I had no idea Jackie was sending out messages about my fall..Thanks,Jackie for all that you did for me . Secondly,"THE REUNION" was the best ever. Friday night being able to see and talk with each person and just catch up was as if there had been no time lapse at all. As so many have said, the Class of '64 is so very special, and we are. Thanks to all for the love and concerns said to me about the fall both nights. We haven't lost being cool. Yes,we on the Reunion Committee were so pleased  that the events were over whelmingly appreciated and enjoyed.Don't let time fly .Keep up on line or come to Fudd's when you can or you are in the area. It's the second Tuesday of the month. unless notified other wise.

Hugs,

Barbara Porter Raines

II got out my childhood scrapbook to look at class photos yesterday.  There in glorious black and white were Francine Webster, douglas Romans, mike dragons, lynn wren, and Bruno leonard.  That was just through second grade!  I know there were others in the class picture that we graduated with, but I had to put the book away to pickup grandkids at school.  I am so blessed to have my family in the same city.  After having to travel to Romania for six years just to spend some time with them I am thrilled to have them sprawled on the couch or playing wii.

I will figure out how to take this book apart so that I can scan these photos to send to website.

As I look at my 1964 photo here--and the photos of some of my classmates--I could almost die laughing from the "Texas big hair" we thought was so beautiful.

My apologies for taking so long in posting my Thank You to all who helped make this Reunion a special time.  I am on Reunion Overload, I cannot believe it is over, I didn’t get a chance to visit with everyone.   What an AWESOME weekend for the best reunion ever, everything was perfect including the weather. I do not have sufficient words to explain how grateful the reunion committee (or The Crew as our Event planner called us) is for your kind words.  The past two and a half years was truly a labor of love by everyone on the committee.  Thank you Waltrip Class of ’64, Class of Champions, and spouses for your attendance and support to help make the reunion a success.  Without you and your continued support the committee could not do what we do. Reading  the comments and looking at the fantastic pictures brought tears to my eyes while many fond memories flooded through my mind. I will say it again, we are blessed to have so many classmates who have continued this life long journey, some of us since first grade and before.  Thank you God for allowing us to grow in a time that was safe and for so many lifelong friends.

God Bless,

Lynn Wren Burkhardt

These new reunion pictures make me think I should have patched my eye and come as a pirate.  I would love to have seen many of these friends from so long ago.  Skip break, pat Edwards, and Bruno are not on the forum.  I saw that pat Edwards lives near San antonio.  So do I, but I don't know how to find her.  Well, I would love to help plan the mini-reunion in the spring.  I will drive to houston for meetings.

The reunion pictures look fantastic.  What an event!

Congratulations to Jackie and the entire reunion committee for planning and executing a great weekend.  I really regret not being able to attend, but as I relayed to Jackie earlier in the year, I had a pretty significant conflicting priority that made that weekend a no-go for me.  Who would think a senior citizen would have social calendar issues. Sigh!

Good health and smooth roads to all our classmates.

Red light warmer weather
Blue light cooler weather
Green light no change in view
Blinking light, rain is due.

Do you know the tune? Could you hummmmmmm a few bars ???

Paige

11/04/14 05:10 PM #6731

Robby Wallis

was there a tune Paige? was it a jingle?  are you speaking of the Texas National Bank weather eye or ball?  while I'm here ...when can we get you and Rich out dancing?...and I don't mean "old people" dancing...Congrats to The Huskies...victory over Nichols State? (so sorry we were not able to come and view the game from your lavish skybox)...has there been a game since?  never could figure what that ball was trying to tell us about the weather....

11/05/14 12:51 PM #6732

Paige Talley (Meek)

There was a jingle tune but the one in my head is not the real one. I "think" I remember that if it was blinking white it was going to snow. I don't recall it ever blinking white and that part wasn't in the jingle. Besides if it was going to snow we didn't need the Weather Ball (Eye?) because school would be out unexpectedly and then we would know there was snow (or a hurricane).

The HBU game was great. Those guys played with more heart and determination for first conference year circumstances than one would expect. It was fun to get to yell in appreciation. I couldn't get too excited and do any cheerfollower stuff.

This is where the Ram Cheerleaders get a  yes

I had to follow the Doctor's orders least I mess up the healing of my eye. The "do not do it" list was not exact but did specifically mention no woodchopping, jogging, sweeping  (I lliked that one), jumping on the bed (hmmmm, what's that about???) and absoluting NO CHEERFOLLOWING. I almost followed all the "do nots".

I am off to College Station today for a 5 night stay with the not so little ones. Walt* and Daphanie are off to Florida for some R&R at company expense and we are all staying home, hopefully at Walter's expense!

*As Richard often says, "It's Great to be King".

I best get to getting ready to go. Richard says that I should get on the road before it rains 'cause I am older now. Well the rain is already here and I ain't afraid of no stinkin' rain.

Hope to see ya'll Tuesday at Fudds, Paige
