If you write keep it at one page or no one will read it.  If you call ask for him.  He won't answer, but you may get someone with some authority.  My guess is that you were dealing with one of their agents/resellers who doesn't give a hoot about anything except their upfront commission.  It's still Direct TV's problem to fix it.   The PUC has no authority over satellite TV and the FCC really won't get involved.  Good luck.

Jim,  "WOW"  I haven't done another thing and just got back on, so I thank you for this information.  I will plot and plan before I call AND write a letter tomorrow.  I just hope it works.  Joe King Fultz family are attorneys in this town so I have to be very careful what I do say.  Did anyone note that Obama in his State of the Union speech said he would reinforce the FTC and FCC commissions to be able to help the individual person who contacts them for help and/or to report a fraudulent claim.  As of now, it states they are unable to help resolve a complaint only to be made aware and/or investigate a corporation or such,  from all the complaints sent to them. Perhaps this will help all of us soon.  If you will go to Direct TV complaints, you can read hundreds of people similarly scammed.  Dish too, Seems there is no integrity when it comes to satellite contracts.

Beau, when you are typing in the body of this page do you notice a bunch of options in the toolbar above the page you are typing from?  Perhaps you can fix it from these.

That storm was something else.  I was happy to leave and get to school early, in case trees and things started blowing around and/or a tornado touch down.  As it was, got to school, sat down and the electricity went off....we couldn't see and were using flashlights to escort students down the hall to the restrooms.  We surrendered and all left at 12:30.  (We had to feed them sandwiches and chips so they would not leave hungry, no morning break either).  No damage at my house, but my pond is completely full now and everything is back to normal.

On the Social Security issue, I receive a mo. check on my dead husband's S.S.  But the government won't let you have two - I have to forego mine, being smaller of course.  They penalize you if you work at a school and receive a pension, they won't allow you to collect on two.  We have a teacher, who's husband died, and she has worked here for a long time, and I imagine makes more money than he, (his stopped accruing a long time ago when he died and her's keeps building so she has to keep working.  I suspect she is over 65. Just the way of the world, politics - keeps us poor and working, while they become so affluent in the billions.  I would like to see a law passed that would allow us to vote to fire polictians that refuse to work together, for the good of  ALL AMERICANS.

Kay, we actually love Direct TV, but we did have an issue with the installer when we moved in.  I think he must've been new on the job.  He could not figure out how to run a new line from the satellite down through the  wall where it needed to be connected to our TV.  He ran it through the hole on the old wall where the previous owners had their TV, then across the floor to the back of our TV.  Got the picture?  We had at least 6 feet of cord exposed and he told us to call a carpet guy to come pull up our carpet and put the cord underneath.  He didn't have a clue!  They did not charge us for installation, but we had to get our handyman to come out and he took care of it in no time - put it down through the wall from the attic right to where it needed to be connected.  That did cost us a few $$, but no one had to pull up our carpet and create a major tripping hazzard for my ailing husband.  Looks to me like they need to screen their service employees a lot more.  That guy was a joke!

Good luck in getting your issue resolved.  You have been given some great suggestions!  If all else fails, sic Charles on them!  There's something about a man's voice...............

We had a good rain yesterday and the day before, but we need SO much more!  The paper here said that all of that rain did little good for our drought!  Lake Travis is so far down the boat docks are on dry land.  I can't imagine how those people get their boats in the water - maybe they aren't right now.  I hate to admit it, but I am just loving the sunshine, even though I know we need the rain.  I have suffered from sun depravation too long!

Take care, everyone!

Please tell me that you made up the name Joe King Fultz.  If that was my name I would have to do something drastic.

Ok....."SUCCESS" ....will have to lay accolades down for Susan and Jim.....guess ya'll were my "man" voice and support.  I did call the Michael White no. given and connected with a thoughtful enlightened male that went through my account, admitted their mistakes and we came up with a plan acceptable to me and that they will implement.  I am waiting for him to send me an email stating in writing what the plan will be, so no unexpected surprises....my Ace Hardware agent, Joe King Fultz is running my receivers back out today at 4:00 p.m., then I will call for service after everything is in place and viola, back in working order for the remainder of the year with Showtime and Choice for approx. $50/mo.  He said he will send me a refund, but I told him to refund it to my W.F. account., around $500.

Was really ready to give up, but I don't want my credit to slide because of this.

Any problems....just put it on Waltrip '64 and people will go to the trouble to try to solve it.....thanks, to all, that was a big one off my chest!

Ok, I'm hoping I corrected the problem with the "super wide screen" on the forum...I must have hit 2 or 3 keys at the same time...never could find out which ones...I even tried what Kay suggested and tried the icons on the tool bar...nope, nada...so, I got a brilliant idear...you remember when supernan turned the earth backwards to save lois lane from the car accident and rockslide....well, fI thought that if I went back and deleted the "bad" post, that would take care of the problem...and voila, it did...but I had to go as far back as the second post of this year, which was not the culprit, but I thought that it would help narrow it down...it did, sort of...anyway to make a short story long, I wound up deleting all of them but my first one of the year, and sure nuff, one of them was the culprit, cause now it's acting normal...at least I think it is...I will post this one...NOW...

yup, it worked...

It wasn't just your screen that was "wide."  Mine was, too.  But now since you said you've fixed it, mine is back to normal proportions, too.

Hmmmmmm...you mean...I...ME...sent the entire internet spiraling into wideness...shutting down the space stations coffee machine (you ever wonder if they have a Mr. Coffee on the space station, or a Keurig?)
stopping the roller coaster on Coney Island...and possibly destroying a small town in mid-America???? I wonder which town??? Ok, if you are a small town, and were errantly destroyed by me hitting the wrong combination of keys on my keyboard, please contact me and I will see if I can reverse polarity, pump up the phase flux capicitor, disengousing the disgronificator, and otherwise restoring you to full smalltownhoodsville, and installing a soft blue bell ice cream dispenser for pain and suffering...Well, the dispenser wont be soft, just the ice cream...please signify by a show of hands and or ayes...all oppressed???? the eyes have it!!!

Ok, now I'm just plain baffled and or super curious about what I could have possibly done to affect the forum...well, what ever I did, I hope I dont do it again...

Just read the update on Lindsey Apostolo...she is living a persons worst nighmare...going through hell...just think how bad it would be if we were not all praying for her...I know, there are others to think about, and sometimes I leave this person out, or that person out...guess I will have to make a hard copy list of all the people that could use some help...Lindsey will be at the top of that list...

Jackie Crowe (Finch)

Hey BroBeau,

Thanks for correcting!   Yes, we were all "Wide Screen" - but that was okay with me.  I apologize that I didn't have time to trace the "message" that caused it.  Sometimes large pictures will do it.  I was going to focus on it this week, but you beat me to it.

Just got back from God's hill country - Lakeway, TX.   My daughter-in-law and I drove up for a wedding shower.  I love the hills and winding roads!!  Brought back lots of happy childhood memories fishing on Lake Travis.    Of course what a shock to see the lake - so sad to see from a high point, it's just lots of islands in the middle,  a little bit of water around them and then dry up to the boat docks and houses - unbelievable!  But the hills are still beautiful!!!  Would love to live there!

Okay, I'll chat with everyone later --- I need to get back to work!

Hugs,

J

Jackie, we took a Sunday afternoon drive yesterday just to get familiar with more of the beautiful hill country!  We ate at a great place in Burnet, the "Highlander", a buffet, but delicious!  Then took 281 to Lampassas and Killeen and on down to Tyler (I missed my turn for 195 in Killeen to go down to Florence and home - my navigator was asleep), then on to I 35 south back to Georgetown.  We are still amazed at all of the wide open spaces in Texas.  Great day for a drive!  We were also at Lake Travis a week ago and it was also sad for me to see the water level down so far - all of the lakes around here are way down. We need RAIN!!I know all of this area is really familiar to you, so if you or anyone who reads the forum has suggestions on places to visit they would be welcomed!

Off to the dentist!  I am trying out a new one - hopefully he will be as good as all of the other doctors we have found in the area.

If anyone is coming to Berlin put your t-shirt back and take your coat. It's getting down to 4°, but not enough snow. Just aweek ago we had roses and other flowers in our garden.

So many sad news, but so many good stories too from just over the ocean. Working hard to make it over some time and say hello, howdy or whatever you prefer.

Thanks to all my Waltrip family for the birthday wishes. Man it's hard to believe that all of us kids could be this old. For Fran and I it's what our daughter Lisa calls double six. Or as we say at the dice table 12 craps, or boxcars, or jokingly, twelve the hard way ( jokingly because for twelve it is the only way ).

As I have told several people, time marches on. I'm just glad that I'm still allowed to participate in the parade!

Kay, so glad you got the problem with Direct TV straightened out, and I had a good laugh at Jimmie Lee's comment about listening to your elders.

And Johnny, Fran said she thinks you have a good idea about going gambling, we may have to do that.

Thanks everybody.

Hey Beau, as for your computer escapades, as far as I'm concerned that puts you right up there with Bill Gates and Steve Jobs as industry pioneers.

From henceforth you will be known as Wide Track Wann!

I went by MD Anderson this morning and visited Gary Alexander.  He went in last Monday, January  23rd, for surgery related to the Melanoma that had spread in his body.  The surgery was not very successful, but he has been in good spirits.  He is being released to go home today.  I'm sure he would appreciate an encouraging note from his classmates at gla64@yahoo.com

Hi, everyone. I just went way back in the Forum and read forward in an effort to catch up. I even missed the Wide Screen Adventure!!! Missed ya'll.

I am told that I am living in chaos and that my kids live on Chaos Court. Who would have thought that sweet Richard would think that  "we up here in CS"  are in utter confusion and complete disorder. I take exception to that... we are not completely disordered or confused, I don't think @#*!+&?/  ... Personally, I think that he is just discovering more and more about "adventure" and it only seems to be chaotic. Hmmmm, is that confusing???

Regardless of he "life and death" things that have plagued my clan, the pieces are being picked up and the move down the perverbible road is on... life is on the mend.

Much to Richard's and this Nana's delight, Meghan has decided to transfer to HBU this fall. The Huskies will never be the same.  I will love having her closer than Austin and Richard is hopeful of a "Huskie pack" as he mentally list my grandkids by name like Santa lists the reindeer.  Besides, Marianne (7) thinks that Huskies are sooooooooo cute (that translates as "precious" by the way).

Life, love and the pursuit of happiness continues.

I will see you at Fudds on the 14th... OMGosh - that's

Valentines Day !!!

I'll be reading you...

Paige
