Really enjoyed seeing all the pictures from Goode BBQ. What a great group of friends from the past. I really wanted to be with you but I am having some problem with my health. The problems are just temporary and I will be back full bore real soon.

Marcia and I do live in Galena, Illinois during the summer but even my trip to Galena is going to be delayed because of my situation.

We did have a successful Bike for Little Heroes ride/fund raiser March 26th but my health was such that I was unable to attend. I did what I could from home for www.redwhiteandbike.org but had to miss, for the first time, our 8th Annual Bike for Little Heroes bike ride/fundraiser. The past two years we have been honored with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas as our title sponsor. We are now Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas - Bike for Little Heroes.

We are going to begin expanding our outreach to other states through our alliance with the Military Order of the Purple Heart. One of our board members, Felix Garcia, is the Commander of Department of Texas - MOPH and he is helping us with this growth stategy. We will work one state at a time so we do not grow too fast and get more little heroes nominated than what we can honor with new bikes. We will probably start with Louisiana.

We have done some special awards in Illinois, Ohio and Florida and will continue with these activities from time to time, as appropriate. Most of these awards are for children of military personnel who have been killed in action and for which Operation Red, White and Bike has a special connection with the family.

You are all going to be amazed someday, I promise I will join you at one of these special celebrations. Believe me when I say, I was with you in spirit. We are so lucky to have such a great group of classmates and friends.

hey Larry, glad to hear from you. That is great work you are doing. Anything we can do for you?  Hope your health problems heal soon. You are so right about a special group. Once youve attended, it's like a large family where everyone likes everyone else. No worries, no problems, just great comradiere!

Saw my sawbones today, got the cast off, and he poked and squeezed and prodded and pinched and poked and squeezed some more.  Took xrays of my foot, got to see the new hardware I'm sportin, way cool!  Then back in another cast for two more weeks, and then another cast for two more weeks after that.

Looking on line for a knee scooter that has larger all terrain pneumatic wheels. The dinky wheels on the one I have is why I keep falling over.  They make a knee crutch, bbut it doesnt look too steady for my taste. Haley went to school today despite the migraine.  I told her if she came to stay with us I'd buy a puppy, a pony, a bunny, a duck and a chicken for her.  She's thinking about it.

Ok, worn out from my field trip to the docs. NAP TIME...so, there you are....

Good to hear from you Larry. Folks, here is a Waltrip grad and school mate who with his bride founded a great organization and have nurtured and grown it. Few causes could be more worthy than providing bikes for the children of our Vets killed in action!! redwhiteandbike.org . You can help them by donating from the same computer you are reading this on, and do it in a minute or two. Please take a look and consider it.

And Larry was also a hell of a drummer in the Waltrip orchestra and and several bands and helped entertain us in many school programs.

Get well old friend and hats off to you.

Everyone please keep Gloria Hornick in your prayers.  The reason she didn't come to Spring Fling was she fell and broke her shoulder.  Gloria, we are sending you many healing prayers and hugs!!

Jenny Taylor is a busy lady, not only our "Find Missing Classmates Sherlock Holmes", but also a Red Rowdies "Rowdy Granny"  for the Rockets. Go Jenny, she's still cheering us on!

Jenny Williams, better known as "Rowdy Granny" threatens fans with the thought of wearing a classic Russell Westbrook outfit if they're late to their seats before the first half of Game 5 of a Western Conference quarterfinals of the 2017 NBA playoffs, Tuesday, April 24, 2017, at Toyota Center in Houston.

Beau Wann, Jr.

That Jenny is something else isnt she!   What a dynamic wonderful friend to have!  John? Whiskey? Kay? Mary Jane? She's only 17, and I was hoping she would stay away from those two...vices!  I'm here to tell you, that Whiskey will work on reg pain, but not a headache.  It will however give you a terrible headache, but not cure one.... Believe it or not, I've never tried MJ.   I was born with double pneumonia and asthma, and lived with breathing 2nd hand smoke of my family, from my first day on this planet till I was 40, so never could bring myself to actually inhale smoke on purpose.

Yes, that is a great organization Jimmy and his wife started.  I'll get Diane to look in on it when she can since she is the puter genius and financial wizard.

It's too bad we dont have any big bands or orchestras anymore!  I know, there are a few of them, but not like the Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Buddy Rich, Gene Krupa, Lionel Hampton et al era. If we did, I would have fully expected to see Jimmy in the middle up on a platform surrounded by a dozen sets of the best drums, with JR on the bass drum. a dozen or more of the best muscians,  Like GK and BR, and LB just to name a few!

Haleys docs seem to have narrowed it down to an auto immune problem, to be specific, Lupus!  When they told her, she just freaked out because she had been researching it on line and saw nothing but bad. I've tried to tell folks that you cant believe everything, or 99 percent of what someone else puts on the web. You have to look at who posted it...bubba.com is just not an authority on anything.

She wound up going to the ER last night at midnight! Dont know what they gave her, but it supposedly stopped the headache and let her sleep. I'm thinking morphine. Her doc has prescribed prednisone for the migraines or for something. I take that when my lungs start getting funky and when my PMR starts really beating on me, and it works, but you can't expect to use it long term. It is so hard on your vitals!

I've gotten some feedback from all yall via back channel msgs, and I sure do appreciate it.  When you hurt that bad, you'll try anything...stand on your left foot, hold your right ear, stick your tongue out, and hum Dixie!  If nothing else, being in that position just might make you forget it for a few moments anyway.

My inlaws are having their 70th reunion in May. Reagan Class of 47.  Max is on the committee and says about 30 to 40 are expected to be there.  They had 516 in that year, of which 130 whereabouts are known, 139 they cant find, and the rest deceased. Or something like that.   Wow, 70 years...I'm telling you, we need to plan now for our 70th....

I'm bachin it today, Diane has gone to the big city for stuff. I've been very careful, except for the one time I went out with the dogs. Didnt fall, but outside is a fall just waiting to happen!    The dogs and cats want to be fed, but we try not to feed them till after 6, sometimes.     Jack and Dixie Belle let out huge sighs, Lacy stomps up and down the hall, Sammie, the deaf cat, hollars at the top of his lungs, and Annie Bob is banging her head into my cast and using it for a scratching post. I'm bound and determined to hold out till at least 6...

My foot doc saw Annies scratches on my last cast and ask me was I playing ball outside and sliding into base.   Nope says I, a mountain lion attacked me....I dont think he believed me....OK OK, I'M GOING TO FEED YOU LITTLE MONSTERS....goodness, you'd think we never fed them.....

I'll be back, so there you go....

Kay Watters '65 (Greene)

Hey Jennie, you are a Hoot!  I'm getting excited about them myself.  TA&M always does good, in every sport, local people you know.  So I am so glad to see the Rockets winning!  You go, Granny.

Beau, so glad your granddaughter is doing better.  I don't and haven't ever done MJ but people swear by it, just thought I'd offer a suggestion, as my boss, had migraines and sat in darkness in her office in severe pain.

Well, I saw some fireflies tonight...made me remember the times I first came out here and walked among them. Not so anymore, walked down my road tonight, hoping, but no.  I remember when I came out here as a child and Sue and I sat out at sunset and beyond with my uncle Johnson and aunt Bill (Wilma) we heard all kinds of birds, hooting and hollering, and everything else, goes to your very soul.  Country has acquiesnized to civililzation I suppose and all is pretty quiet now.  When I hear yesterday's bird calls, I stop and remember the good ole days of childhood in Anderson.  I suppose when we get the nation's 1st Bullet Train, we will hear less of them, and my friends, with money in their pockets, which they don't want and fought against, will lose more of their country.  Progress?  I don't think so.

Teddie and Fran, keep cherishing your nature spot.  I know you are and I am sharing as much with the grandkids for memories that we can talk about as city expands to us.  Oh my gosh, my uncle Johnson could share such cowboy stories with us (He was a true cowboy until his heart failed), as we fished for catfish and walkd the cowtrails on 100 ac. and filled our jugs with cool spring water near the roadsite, and drank fresh  cowsmilk, and got hugged by large sweaty old Germans that loved us and we loved on our summer visits.

I was hooked on country life ever after, and when divided, I got (yes, right out of a hat we drew at first Nat. Bank of Anderson) the barn and the tank we fished at, and put my home on it and rebuilt the barn, but not sucessful at replacing the Hereford cows we walked among.  Was successful to recapture the older German people that knew of us and the Johnsons in our childhood, so fortunate to live and go to church among them today.  Money can't replace those memories.  So I've gone off on a tangent.  Happy to hear Beau that you are doing better, take care. Sounds as though your fireflies are more prolific.

P.S. have to say when I came out, who do you think strolled across the road, but Tony and Gary Maddox to welcome Sue and I to the neighborhood....Shocked but pleasantly surprised that "big football player" lived right across the road....you can run, but you can't hide....lol.

They can take the girl out of the country, but not the country out of the girl ! ! !  Beautiful discription and walk through the past Kay. Thank you!   Fireflies...oh my! ! !  When Diane goes down to lock the gate at night, the fireflies just surround her like she's cinderella.  They are always plentiful down at the creek.  They like the tall grass, and we have tall grass everywhere. The place is getting raggedy from me not being able to do stuff.

Yeah, I dont like the idjit progress like the bullet train. It's a bullet train alright, a bullet to the heart.  I love the old trains, and dont see why they cant just use the tracks already layed. Some they would have to replace, but that's a whole lot cheaper than building a new route.  Money's the name of the game with no regard to how it's acquired.  I think a train between here and Dallas would be great, but not the way they want to do it.

Diane texted Haley today, and she is at school, hurting!  She said she really needed to be there. She said It took her 5 minutes to climb the stairs just to the 2nd floor.  She has an appt with a specialist tomorrow, sure hope he can find something to alleviate the problems.

Gloria, goodness, a UBS?  Unauthorized Broken Shoulder! We missed you Saturday. We will be sending good healing thoughts your way for a speedy painless recovery. I hope you have folks to help with things at home. We'd come help you, cept I'm sort of useless at the moment.

Diane was gone most of the day yesterday and I tried to do too much.  all that getting up and down on my knee scooter did me in!  It's 10 AM in the morning, and I'm still in bed. Diane has brought breakfast in bed, coffee and such.  I've never had breakfast in bed, never wanted it, all the crumbs and such. But today...just cant get up.

Diane did order us a new knee scooter, an all terrain 3 wheel one.  Two wheels in front and one in back! It should be here in a day or so.  Got it off of Amazon I think!  Anyway, I should be able to go over thresholds and the like no problem and go out in the yard with the pups.  Plus, mu daughter in law is going to have foot surgery about the time I get through using the scooter, she's going to need to use it ! ! !

Ok, going to try to get up and stuff. Sure is a beautiful day. I see Diane playing with the pups, I wanna play too!

Yall take care of yourselves, no more broken shoulders, or broken anything.  I'll be back ! ! ! Fair warning huh!

there you go....

Beau Wann, Jr.

Please do. The more folks thinking good thoughts and prayers, the better.  Safety in numbers!

Good morning all yall....Had a very rough day yesterday, that is until our officially unofficial adopted grandaughter Lucy and her mom came out for the day.  It's amazing how much better one feels when with the ones you love!   Sorta like the party on the hill and the spring and fall flings.

Our next party I'm going to try to get Lucy to come.  She is such a delight. Never met a child as well developed mentally and as focused as she is, yet retain some "little girlish charm".  We just jabbered back and forth the whole timeabout her plans and about the work she is doing and will be doing.  made the day go too quickly.

She even showed me some simple excercizes and moves to help with shoulder pain and the like. Whatever hospital system she chooses to work for, whatever they pay her will not be enough she deserves.

The Shriners Burn center in Galveston has already offered a job to her when she graduates med school and becomes certified, which will be a year from this august.  She has workd with children burn patients and infant OT and adults, What a blessing to humanity she is.  She was looking at my yearbook, and she thinks all yall are beautiful....Sorry, I could talk about her forever and never change the subject.

Haley and parents are on their way to meet a specialist neuro....something or other.  I do hope she gets some help.  It's deffinetly no fun hurting!

I'm hoping my new scooter will arrive here today. this rented one is absolutely useless and dangerous on bumps and uneven ground inside and out!   If anyon ever needs one in the future, let us know, and we will get the new one to you.  Our daughterin law will be needing it about the time I'm through with it. Then if all goes well, she will be through with it in about 2 months.  We have plenty of storage space, so it wont be a problem to store.

I'm hoping none of us will have to use it, but there's no guarantee my left leg wont do what the right leg has done, or so sayeth my sawbones !

Bachein it this morn. My beloved has gone in to meet her mom and dad for stuff.

Saw lots of fireflies lastnight, and watched the sun go down, and then the sun come up this morning whilst out on the porch!   The mockingbirds and cardinals et al are just singing to high heaven.  When I have my ears in, sounds like I'm in an aviary, what a delight.  Coffee and singing birds and sunrise...

Ok, time to deplane boss....keep the sun at your six and ride boldly ride...

My daughter (Dr. of Physical Therapy at Memorial Hermann/ Memorial City) had surgery on her foot last Friday.  She has been moving around on the knee scooter like Beau.  She will be recuperating for 6 weeks. It's about time these doctors got a piece of their own medicine.

have you all thought about Canabis oil. i have read where people with MS or other illnesses like this with almost IMMEDIATE results. this will allow beau and his asthma to use it without the bad effects of smoke.
GOOD LUCK

Teddie Jordan

It shure is quiet on here. I don't have anything profound to say. Cephus where are you?? You OK??

05/01/17 10:29 PM #8645

Beau Wann, Jr.

Hey TJ, I'm fine, just trying to get things done.  My pain level has gone down, haleluja, and I can stay up a tad longer than before. It has been 3 and a half weeks since scourgery, and complain as I might, it does seem to be healing although I still am not to put any weight on my foot for another 3 or more weeks.  Thandks ofr checking on me.

Hmmm looking at the baove and other words spelled cockeyed, I must be having trougble with my fingers or brain or both.    I use to be an ace speller, spell and pronounce any word. Now it seems when I spell a word, it doesnt look right, even after looking it up in old websters book of words. I promise I will try to do better.

Hey Lynn,  do you know which knee scooter your daughter is using?  The one that was recommended and given a prescription for from a medical supply store, is a killer, literally . I have fallen over and almost fallen over on it a zillion and a half times. the wheels are too small! ! ! ! ! I have survived by the grace of God only.  I'm surprised someone hasnt sued the manufacturer and or supplyer.

I purchased one on line that has ALL TERRAIN PNEUMATIC TIRES.  They are about 12 inches in diameter and come with mag wheels.   It is a 3 wheel scooter and comes with a training wheel which I plan to keep on it.

It is by far better than the rented scooter.  This new scooter will go over pretty much anything, Dixie Belles toys ie teddie bears that she leaves in the middle of my path, which the rented one would just stop.  The new one has a longer turning radius needing two or three point backups. There is always a trade off in most things, I prefer the newer one because I can go over thresholds and bumps and carpets  and the like, and outside without having to pick the front end up to go over the obstacle.

Since there is the possibility of 2 or 3 people in our family needing one somewhere down the road, and storage is not a problem, we opted to buy one. It is made by a company called KNEEROVER.COM, and is carried by amazon.com for 289.00 dollars. No tax and no shipping charges.  We ordered it last Wednesday, and it got here today.

Hey John, I would certainly use the canabis oil, if it would work, and if allowed to.  I have heard about it helping numerous maladies, and am just stunned by the idiot moron maggot dufus idiots in government that would deny anyone to use anything that would help relieve discomfort, and or cure a malady!  IDIOTS ! ! !

But hey, maybe someday I'll let my personal feelings be known!   Could it be the AMA that is urging congress to drag their collective feet so more money could be spent on more research and more dr visits ie more insurance money?    Or maybe the drug companies?  Or how about the drug dealers? If a socalled narcotic is made legal, drug dealers will be out of bidness...yea!

I know, I know, I'm a cynic and rightly so knowing what I know about our illustrious leaders.  Oh well Kay sarah sarah....

No word yet on our grandaughter other than the neurologist gave her something to help with her headaches, which seems to work we think. We generally are outside of the loop of the goings on of our children and grandchildren, sadly to say.  Kevin did say they were going to do all the tests over again and this time really look long and hard and search far and wide ad nauseum!    My question would be, why didnt they do that when they first did the tests?   If youre not  going to do the best that you can do, why bother?   Insurance money would be my guess, but hey, I'm a cynic remember!

My grandson did come out Sunday and brought with him 2 other friends he went to A&M with.  They moved a 50 foot section of fence and a gate and built 3 wheelchair ramps for us. All three young men (23, 24) were as polite and helpful one would imagine.  It was like having Teddy , Jimmy Stockton, and Dennis Dorsey in their youte, just to name 3 off the top of my head, over helping us . Or any one of the fine young men I went to school with.

They were amply rewarded for giving up their free Sunday they might have otherwise used to catch up on sleep and or attending a BBQ etc.

It has been a beautiful day today, as it was yesterday. Both days started out around 48 degrees, but warmed up significantly. Fireflies are having a party tonight.

I can tell Diane is getting pretty well worn down having to attend the animals and me. I try to be as helpful as possible and not demand anything that I can get for myself.  It is hard to carry things and keep both hands on the handlebars of my scooter.  The new one did come with a basket in front, so that should help significantly.   I am confident in retrieving things like ice packs for my leg, and bottles of water and any snack I might find desireable, and or my glasses and phone etc, without having to involve my beloved!

I generally can do the things around the house that I am use to doing, albeit slower than usual, about twice the time it generally takes me, but I still can be useful, like make the bed, pick up pillows and the like, clean litter boxes and feed the critters, but like I said it takes twice the time and effort.  I have to figure out how's the best way to do something without falling over, which in my retarded whirld takes some serious thought.

Diane was going to try to sleep in this morning, but I was not fast enough to get the livestock fed, so they woke her up, and then there was breakfast for us, laundry, cleaning kitchen, bathrooms, watering flowers and trees and generally allround field day, of which I helpd the best a one legged man could help.

She did stop around three for a nap, and all was going well! I managed to shut off all the "give jack his meds" alarms we have set.  As I said, all was going well, until Dixie Belle found the almost empty jar of Peanut butter.  She got her nose stuck in it trying to reach the delicious nectar at the bottom, and began banging into the cabinets trying to extracate her nose.  Meanwhile her other end, her very active tail was whipping everything it came into contact with such as the recycling I had previously put in plastic bags but not tied at the top.

So, along with her nose and plastic jar of peanut butter banging into everything kitchen and noisy, her tail was whupping the recycle bags, knocking plastic bottles and soda pop cans and the like all over the kitchen cabinets and floor creating a not so pleasant noise that would make it impossible to take a successful nap, and or wake up the dead.  All that and me scootering around banging into things to try to stop Dixie Belle and get the jar off her dumb head, It would be my guess I woke up the dead!

Sure enough, she came around the corner, bleary eyed and worn, me apologizing profusely and telling her to go back and work on that nap.   Well, you know, once youre up, youre up and there is no going back to sleep.   We will try again tomorrow on our naps!

I do try to be as stealthy as possible, but something seems to have happened to my stealthiness.  My body and the general area I am in just emits all sorts of noise, no matter how quiet I try to be.  I was thought to be clumsy and obnoxious in me youte....that was nothing to what's going on nowdays.

Doesnt seem fair does it!   I thought as you got older and more manure, you would age gracefully and things would stop being difficult, and life would be as smooth as silk, a bowl of cherries....yup, smooth as sandpaper and a bowl of cherry pits!   As per usual, it can always be worse.

Keep the sun at your six and ride boldly ride....

Linda Bolton (Roffall)

Good morning  everyone. John and I are  sitting  on  the  front  porch at our  country home with a  cup of hot coffee,  listening to the  singing  birds , and  watching  for the  deer to make  there morning  appearance. John  just  spotted the  first deer and a  turkey.  Another gorgeous day !

05/02/17 09:05 AM #8647

Beau Wann, Jr.

Linda, a turkey too?   Oh wow, how fine is that!   We use to see lots of deer, in fact a herd of about a dozen plus use to cross our place twice a day, but no more!  I miss seeing them. I had names for all of them, Dasher, Dancer, Prancer and Vixen, Comet,  Cupid,  Donder and Blitzen and Fred and Ethel......We still have lots of birds.  We were on our porch this morning before sunup, sipping on a cuppa joe listening to the birds. Well, Diane heard the birds, I hadnt put my ears in!

Ever now and again I could hear the mockingbird or birds.  Couldnt hear the bluebirds, but sure could see them working hard. I thought I heard the rooster over on Chads ridge, but couldnt swear to it!  I guess I could swear at it I suppose!

Sammie the grey deaf cat woke us up at 3 this morning.  He wanted some attention, as he usually does about 3 or 4 in the morning.  You know, for a deaf critter, he sure is noisy. But, I know how he feels to be in silent world. His is totally silent, mine I hear the things I dont want to hear, like noise. Cant understand what is being spoke at me, but I sure can hear the noise!

Had to go back to bed, and put ice on the backside of my knee. Seems my right leg was a might swollen, as it generally is after a day of standing up scootin around.  Cannot wait for this thing to heal so I can get busy doin stuff.  If my left leg breaks, I'm not going to have the same operation on it, it will just have to heal or cut bait.

Speaking of cutting bait, I was thinking about going fishing sometime.  I have a custom made rod (my son made it for my) but no reel, or any other fishing tackle. I do have a baseball glove and bat.  I could just smack em out of the water with the bat and catch em with my glove.  Oh well, if I caught something, I'd just have to throw it back or clean it. And with my fishing luck, I wouldnt catch a thing cept maybe an old shoe. and besides,  fish stink!   If fish smelled like lasgna, I'd be a fish eater!

Speaking of shoes!  Notice how I so expertily manuver and ever so gracefully, slide from one subject to another!  Anyway, I have shoes all over the house, but only left shoes since my right foot is otherwise occupodoed with a cast.  All my right shoes are neatly stacked up!   All my left socks are in the washer whilst the right socks are breathing a sigh of relief being left in the drawer.  Hmmm, my left shoes and left socks will be worn to a frazzle! Going barefoot is no good, I step on everything not floor if I dont have a shoe on.

I never thought of this stuff when I was a idjit child !  My mind ran in circles then, play, eat, play, eat etc....Now it's eat, work, eat, work,  no more playing for me. Which brings me to another subject....WHENS THE NEXT PARTY? Or woids to that defect!

I figger I'll be out of this cast next week, and then into another one for another two weeks and then into a boot of sorts, if it's healed to the sawbones satisfaction, and of course mine too, then maybe I can practice my dance routine. I could I suppose, if I had one, but heck far, who's to say it's too late to start a dance routine? Eh ?

I was watching the BOOGIE WOOGIE dance competition on youtube, wow can those guys and dolls dance.  If you get on youtube, type in honky tonk women, and a couple should appear and wow, can they dance.  That's why I joined the navy, to learn to dance! Well, every movie I saw growing up that had sailors in it, all could cut a fantastic rug.

Never did learn to dance even under the tutelege of guys like Seebo and Smitty, and big Al. Dont know what happened to Seebo and Smitty, but big Al died in a firefight somewhere in SEA.   He was heavyweight boxing champion of the pacific back in them good ol days.

Ok, breakfast is ready! ! And about time too.  It's so hard to get good help nowdays. If Flo doesnt pick up the pace, gonna have to replace her.  I'd better watch my step, she just might replace me, and rightly so, being a one legged idjit and all.
See ya later aligator.....so there you go

NOVA is the brand.   She suggests you rent them unless you are going to have more surgery or another relative is going to use it.  She also suggests you get a large seat.  This will allow to sit an rest from time to time.  A small seat can be uncomfortable.

I rented nova, and it was very unstable.  Bought one by kneerover larger wheels and more stable. works so much better than the Nova, at least for me.

WOW what a fantastic morning, weatherwise!   Air is crystal clear, wind out of the north about 15 to 20 mph. I hope everyone is enjoying something this fine morning!  Got a cuppa joe, sitting on the porch with fric and frac. Theyve wrestled and chased the cows that come close to their fence, barked at the buzzards flying low,  breaching our airspace.   Blue birds working hard taking care of their 2nd batch of younguns. Swallowtails hovering a few feet over the tall grass on the hill. I've drained the coffee pot twice!

Don't remember the swallowtails doing that from my youte.  The storm huffed and puffed and gave us about .06 of an inch of rain.  I hate to say it, but we could use some more.

Sat out on the centerfield skyboxes last evening, looking out on an overgrown field of dreams, watching the fireflies do their "flash dance".   If ever there were spirits hovering over a field, they were there last evening.  Must have beeen at least a couple of hundred or more.   Ol Mariah was trying her best to push them about, but the fireflies said, "nothing doing, we're staying here"!

Hey Gloria, how's your shoulder? Still broke?   We wish you a painless and speedy recovery for sure.  Lynn, hope your Daughter's recovery is quick and painless. And anyone else suffering any sort of malady.

Jimmie Lee, you ok?   Yall have had more than your share of tornadoes this year up around Dallas. Tornadoes are sort of worisome for me, what with us sitting high on this hill.  We've been very fortunate!

Dont really have a lot to say this fine morning, just thought I'd look in on the forum and check on the goings on, and say howdy!

SO HOWDY!  and there you are....

Please keep Tonda Thiessen and family in your prayers.  Beau just told me that her mother, Ruby, passed away last night.  I'll post services as soon as I have details.  God Bless

So sorry to hear about Ruby Thiessen. Tonda and I both grew up at Oaks Presbyterian Church and our family thought the world of Jim and Ruby and their family. I almost always ask Tonda about them when I see her, but sorry to say I didn't get a chance to in our brief conversation at Goodes's last week.

Thonda, I pray that happy memories of your mother will give you comfort.  Gloria, hope you're learning how to cope without that right arm.  Hope that Beau, Charlie Burkhardt and all the rest of us with aches & pains are able to cope with it.

Beau, we've had some really crazy weather in North Texas.  On March 26, we had the worst hail storm I've been in - bigger than baseball-size hail.  I called my insurance company to come check my roof - just to make sure - and they wrote me a check that day for replacement and damage to gutters, fences, screens, etc.  We’ve had about 3 more giant hail storms since March. So, for the first time in my life, I've been dealing with roof estimates and choosing a reputable company. Got Travelers to recommend some, then called a friend who has contracted work for us at our McKinney house.  Both estimates were for as much as 10 squares more than Travelers.  So, called and rep said Travelers will make it work with reimbursement after the job is done.  Decided to go with my friend and I was waiting on his scheduling a date, when he sent me a text saying roofing suppliers have gone up on their prices since his original estimate and he’s raising the price.  I told him we should go ahead and purchase the supplies before they raise prices again.  Roof replacement should start in 2 weeks, but with so many homes getting new roofs, that date will probably get pushed back.  My daughter’s insurance company told them they need a new roof (they live 4 streets from me) and estimated over $3000 hail damage on each of their cars.  A friend from church has his The Dent Doctor business out of his barn out here and he has more business than he can handle.

We’ve been having really cool nights – 47 degrees – and warm days.  Both the heater and AC are getting a workout.  Hope everyone has a great weekend.
