Prayers for Brian and family on the news of his mom, Mrs. Helen Copeland having brain cancer.

Also keep Betty Howard (Shugart) and family in your prayers on the death of her mother, Annie Louise O'Connor Howard on  January 28.  Services were last Saturday, Feburary 4.  Just saw in THE LEADER.

ANNIE LOUISE O'CONNOR HOWARD
January 13, 1926 - January 28, 2017
Feature Image

Annie Louise O'Connor Howard of Houston, Texas, our precious wife, mother, and Meme passed into the arms of our Lord after complications from heart failure. Annie Louise was born at St. Paul Hospital Dallas, Texas to William Joseph O'Connor and May Belle Dean O'Connor.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her three brothers Bill, Bobby, and James.

Annie and husband James were 5 years old when they met in Milford, Texas where they grew up and attended all grades together.

While living in Houston Annie became a real estate broker like her husband to work together in their real estate business. But most of all she was a beloved and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. We will miss her friendship, perfect kindness and sweetness, and coconut cream pies.

Survivors include her husband James of 72 years; daughters Betty Shugart (Robert), Linda Bolton (Mac); sons Bill Howard (Connie), Jim Howard (Diana), and Paul Howard (Sheri). 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, February 3, 2017 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home in Waxahachie.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home Chapel in Waxahachie with Mr. Walter Buchanan officiating. Interment will follow at the Milford Cemetery. Pall bearers will be Andy Howard, James Howard, Marcus Howard, Brandon Howard, Westin Eller, and Dylan Cuffin.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Scottish Rite Hospital, St. Judes or a charity of your choice.

Hmmm, the list is growing....My mom passed away yesterday afternoon at 4:45. She had alzheimers for the last 5 + years. Last time I saw her, she had no idea who I was, and for last year or so, no idea who she was.  Last time Cooper and I visited her, she didnt know who Cooper was, or me. The first time I took cooper out to see her, she knew who he was but not me.  Had to have round the clock care, couldnt care for herself at all. Now maybe she is running barefoot down that black dirt river bottom road on the farm she loved, and there to greet her is her dad and mom and sisters Eleanor and Thyra and b rothers Son and Bubs...they all called her "Snooks" ....She was 97...

So sorry old friend. Thoughts and prayers from Fran and I in Freer. Even when it's time, there is nothing easy about losing your mom. Cherish the memories.

I remember your mom coming in and shopping at the grocery store a couple of times a week, to stock your family shelves, but no doubt to also check on her baby boy. I can picture her perfectly and remember her soft spoken Southern voice and sweet kind nature.

I never really had the pleasure of knowing Jack Bevil while at Waltrip, but thankfully got to know him from his visits to several of our Fudd's gatherings. He was an interesting and enjoyable guy and a real gentleman!

Dear sweet friend, as others have said, it is never easy losing  a parent. Mine has been gone 27 years and occasionally I still thinnk about calling her to tell her something. Cherish the memories and be glad you had her so long. Many thoughts and prayers go with you in the next few days. The beauty of this group is the caring and understanding that we share. We are all just as near as this site when you need strength. God bless .

Jack Marshall Bevil, PhD October 1, 1947 - February 7, 2017

Jack Marshall Bevil, the only son of Jane Marshall Bevil and Jack Nugent Bevil was born October 1, 1947 in Houston, TX. Even as a toddler, he developed a deep love of music, literature, and art. Before starting elementary school, he had already learned to read and had begun creating original compositions of both the literary and musical varieties. At Garden Oaks Elementary School, where he was gaining a reputation as a story-writer and musician, his passion regarding the history of the Titanic manifested itself as he wrote a fictional news story about a steamboat disaster on a Scandinavian fjord. He continued his education at Black Junior High School, where he excelled in the creative arts as well as math and science. Due to his skills as a violinist and singer, he rapidly progressed through the ranks of the school's orchestra and choir. Despite music and literature not being typical "boy's subjects," his mother Jane encouraged him to stay true to his passions. He advanced to Waltrip High School where he continued his upward trajectory in the arts. He also excelled in science, math, and engineering subjects. During this time, Jack developed and installed several automotive devices including a car alarm, a solid-state ignition, and fog lights. Many of these devices were not available on 1960's era automobiles. He also studied rocketry and designed and built his own high altitude rockets (after nearly blowing his hand off). After high school, Jack attended Oklahoma Baptist University as a music major, studying vocal performance with a heavy interest in the study of music history. After graduating with honors, he entered the graduate program at the University of North Texas to study musicology. He earned his Master's degree in 1973; his thesis was ahead of its time, focusing on traditional Celtic music and the Welsh Crwth (pronounced Crewth), a little-known instrument in the musicological world of the United States at the time. He stayed at UNT to earn his PhD in musicology studying the linguistic, cultural, and non-notated transmission of folk music. Throughout these years, Jack developed into a demanding, but understanding, enormously knowledgeable and fair teacher. He eventually became an educator in HISD, thriving as his elementary school orchestra programs were capable of competing with middle schools. Even after his retirement, his passion for teaching continued as he taught private lessons up until the end of his life. In his personal life, while working toward his doctoral degree, Jack met a beautiful coed named Polly. Consistent with his methodical, pondering nature, Polly became impatient and actually proposed to him! They married in August 1974, and welcomed their son, Dafydd (a traditional Welsh name consistent with Jack's love of Celtic music), in 1989. As a husband and father, he was kind, gentle, supporting, and caring. He ensured that his wife and son always had the opportunity to achieve anything they desired. Even as he aged and became ill, he still made every effort he could to play a role in supporting his family, even braving the cold winters of Wisconsin to visit Dafydd and attend some of his performances, as well as be present for the birth of his granddaughter, Keira. Jack will be missed by many. He was a truly unique soul with a kind heart who always spoke his mind. On any occasion, Jack could be counted on to chime in with a humorous story or little known fact. While his family will miss him dearly, they are thankful that he passed peacefully and without pain while surrounded by his family.

Beau Wann, Jr.

This is my 2nd attempt at posting this, lost the first in cyber-space somewhere.

Howdy myne myghty fyne waltripynes!  Thank you one and all for the condolences.  I'm fine with it, just because she has now been released from the worst misery there is.

My mind keeps going back to 1352 DuBarry, under the two oak trees beside our iron-ore driveway and me playing with my cars and army men in the dirt.  I can hear her heavenly operatic voice wafting on the gentle breeze augmented by the heavenly smell of whatever she was cooking.  I've always thought that food and opera went together, silly me!

Now, she has joined that heavenly choir with all the moms that have gone before her...
you reckon all the moms are  ttogether comparing notes?   "My son did what....?"

Thank you all again for the well wishes, means alot coming from the folks I most admire and respect.

Yes, you good 65 folks passing through can stop in and be a  part of the Coopers Memorial Field Of Dreams and Waltrip annual Fun Day.  There will be a few others from 65 and 66 and at least one from 72 (my beloved).

Been working like a madman trying to get everything ready for the big event.  Hopefully the weather will cooperate.  I had a lot to say, but since I lost the first post, I've run out of woids. I'll get back in the groove here shortly.

Thank you again for your love...
Keep the sun at your six and ride boldly ride...
Your frien and resident person...Me Olbeauwannkanobie
