Beau Wann, Jr.

The smoke has cleared.... Hello myne fyne waltripynes!  What a beautiful day...man just a blessed day all way round.  Our dear friends and also waltripians, Richard and Paige (Tally) Meek, stopped by our home on their way from Austin to Home. Just made our day. They gave us a heads up to let us know if they could stop by, silly rabbits, OF COURSE THEY CAN...

We pulled out all the stops, fresh coffee, tea.  I even baked chocolate Muffins that turnedd out great. then I baked my old standby, chocolate chip cookies. I was famous for my CC cookies, far and wide, to and fro, hither and yon...I use to supply Dianes schools and office with CC Cookies, and church and just about everywhere. I gave em out for Christmas presents, and with lots of requests for them.

Firstly may I add, I had no idear that a CC cookie could catch on fire!  The first batch came out pretty good, the 2nd was undercooked, but the 3rd and last batch caught on fire....???????? Smoke was pouring out of the oven.  Opened up all the winderlights (east texas for windows) turned on all the fans etc.   Richard and Paige remained very calm amidst the smoking CC cookies.  They said there really wasnt that much smoke, but I think they were just being nice.

It was smoky to me, too smoky!  It actually smelled like paper burning. Everyone remained calm, except moi! Doned my firehat, (where was Jimmy when we needed him).  If we hadnt had such good company, I'd a cussed a blue streak!  My cookies over the last couple of years have been a dismal failure. I use the same recipe, all the same ingredients, but they are always a dismal failure. You can ask Diane next time you see her, my cookies were 2nd to none in the past. I even taught our grandaughter Lucy how to bake CC cookies, and of course the pupil surpassed the master.

I''ve talked to a real chef in the past about the problems I have had baking stuff. She said it is the flour, and the way it is processed now a days. I say poo on those idjits.

I have baked my last cookie. At least I can get a cake mix to come out good.

Well anyway, Diane and I are working very hard at trying to make the nexst get to gerhter a success! And I promise not to bake anything!  If the weather cooperates, this will be a very fun event.

Congratulations to Johnny and Becky on 49 years, and to each and everyone of youse youtes celebrating a milestone.  I guess Diane and I are just puppies in the marriage dept, with only 32 years. Of course if you count the pre-marriage time, it is 34 years.  Wait just a durn tootin minute! ! ! If you count the actual years we didnt know each other, plus the 34 years, why that makes 71 and 1/2 years...Ha see there what creative cypherin can do! That and a very active imagination.

Diane is huddled up with two dogs and 3 cats and a dozen blankets, so I guess I can shut the winderlights (east texas for window).

Time to deplane! Gonna take a hot shower, to see if I get feeling back and a normal color other than blue in my feet and hands.

So, Keep the sun at your six and ride boldly ride...
your frien and resident firestarter...Joab...(rain is tess and fire is joab, and they call the wind mariah) remember that song....well no matter, I do...

I think this is the answer we have all been searching for, we are now Seenagers!

I just discovered my age group!  I am a Seenager. (Senior teenager)

I have everything that I wanted as a teenager, only 50-60 years later.

I don't have to go to school or work

I get an allowance every month.

I have my own pad.

I don't have a curfew.

I have a driver's license and my own car.

I have ID that gets me into bars and the wine store.  I like the wine store best.

The people I hang around with are not scared of getting pregnant, they aren’t scared of anything, they have been blessed to live this long, why be scared?

And I don't have acne.

Life is Good!  Also, you will feel much more intelligent after reading this, if you are a Seenager.

Brains of older people are slow because they know so much.

People do not decline mentally with age, it just takes them longer to recall facts because they have more information in their brains.

Scientists believe this also makes you hard of hearing as it puts pressure on your inner ear.

Also, older people often go to another room to get something and when they get there, they stand there wondering what they came for.

It is NOT a memory problem, it is nature's way of making older people do more exercise.

SO THERE!!

I have more friends I should send this to, but right now I can't remember their names.

Hey everyone!  We don't do much with Facebook, but Diane has a friend whose son is in the Waltrip Ram Band. Go to Facebook and put in Waltrip Ram Band and thar are 3 recordings of them playing in front of Minute Maid Park for the start of Super Bowl 51 events.  The third recording is really good! Check it out. Might be on the news too!

Hey TJ, come to the front, TJ, come to the front, and have a happy birthday....yea ! ! !

Ok, I seem to have created a lot of confusion about what to bring to the get together up here on the hill in Chappell Hill on March 18th.   Just bring yourselves. What we want most is for everyone to come and have a good time.  We are so blessed to have this place and just want to share with our wonderful Waltrip family.  Ya'll come and just have a great time.  there will be lots of games, nothing mandatory, just whatever you want to do. Lots of places to sit and talk, in a crowd, and away from a crowd.

If you want to bring stuff, just bring it, you dont have to sign up for any committee.  We should probably already have most everything.  We have some people bringing salads and desserts. If you have a favorite finger food, snack or other dish you'd like to share feel free to bring it.  I'm not sure if we've  found anyone to bring the brisket yet, we can pick it up if need be,  but WE have chicken and sausage and carnitas (pork) beans and potato salad and coleslaw and BBQ sauce and plates and plastic ware and tablecloths and tables and chairs....

If someone wants hotdogs, maybe folks can bring dogs and buns .  We will probably have a pack or two of hotdogs, but then I generally keep them on hand anyway.  We have mustard and relish and pickles and jalapenos, and katsup and mayo if youve just got to have mayo on your dog.

BYOB for soft drinks. We will already have tea and coffee and lemonade. Bring wine if you like, we can keep it cold or hot whichever you desire.  We have wine, but it is very sweet, which is the only way I will drink it, if it's almost grape juice. We have a beer committee bringing beer.

oh, someone bring some chips and dips...

The mainest (east texas for main) thing, is just come and have fun.

Ifin anyone is still cornfused,  We can be reached at 713-560-0673      713-560-0676
and email address is beauwann@sbcglobal.net   PLEASE feel frree to call orr email us....

Hey all yall, if you are interested, go to youtube and type in Lee Greenwood and Army Chorus. It will bring up a 3 minute video of Lee Greenwood and a happenstance meeting with the Army choral group in one of the tunnels in DC. I think this was on Veterans day about 2 years ago, methinks. Anyway, Lee and the choral group sing "God Bless The USA"  .

Happy Birthday again TJ, and many many more, and come to the front...and also very happy 49th anniversary to Johnny and Becky...

Good morn, haven't been reading, lo and behold, so much is going on.with this group.  Sorry to hear that Jan broke a 2nd leg, praying for quick healing, and also for all of us "Seenagers"  sp  We've seen it and gone there and some more!

Beau, you and Diane really are people pleasers, anyone to create a ball field, plus all the trimmins, decorations, seating, etc. are way out of my league, perhaps on a course like Mars or Venus!

Since I live in a little berg, not much happens out here, except motorcycle peeps flying past us on FM 149.on their way to either Drifters or Yankees.  Yankees, by the way, has been featured on the Bucket List, which I religiously watch, the hamburgers always look so good and the small town atmosphere, interesting, especially since they are Texas towns.  I especially like the moderator, as I've watched him and his wife on KBTX in Bryan for the last 25 years.  Yankees did win the 2nd best burger last year, called the grand slider or something to that effect..  It is way too much burger for me, and their steaks on Wednesday nights, $25.00 and worth every bite."Bullet train" trying to grab our land and create a monster for us here in Grimes county.  I live on the other side of FM 149 so I won't be affected, but many church members will.

Congratulations to the 49th anny,Sheffields, and your night out in Kenney, sounds like a place to go!  Beau and Diane should be featured on the Bucket List in Chappel Hill, would be a hit once you get Beau and Diane and all their menagerie lined up. Well, I'm still not awake, although waiting on the sunrise to announce another beautiful day and my fingers are numbing out on me (carpal tunnel).I've been cleaning out the fenceline along the road, haven't done this....EVER....it is a trip!  People driving by probably figure me a nut, and I look like it as I tear into the bramble burrs. If I have a bad heart, it probably should have complained by now.  Me and Mary Tyler Moore have put up the good fight with Diabetes Metellius Type 1.  I've had this 50 yrs now and credit, staying away from fast food places and lots of exercise for keeping the bad things away.  Will probably show up at the Senior Center of Anderson for a delicous meal and fellowship later today...good group of people. I'v"e left "exciting" back down the road a long time ago, just grateful for small things, people and animals.

Jimmy, that certainly sounds better than what I've been offered here in the Bryan area.  Where did you go, if I may ask?  I have a friend, has the same trouble

Well, it's almost official:  There will be a new Buc-ees in Melissa, TX.  Construction due to start in September - just ironing out last-minute details with TXDot.  Melissa is a "suburb" of McKinney and we have no grocery stores - just 6 gas/convenience stores, a CVS and a Sonic (but we finally got a nail salon - YEA!).  So, we don't need the Buc-ees for any reason except for the fantastic tax dollars it will bring in for our over-crowded schools and 200 new jobs.  Homes just continue being built out here at a fast pace because of our small community atmosphere, but the schools are having a hard time keeping up with the growth.  New high school being built beginning the end of this year - PROGRESS!

Beau Wann, Jr.

Hey Kay, you are coming to the THRILL ON THE HILL march 18th arent cha!  You are most welcome! Got all kinds of stuff to make you feel at home...rakes, hoes, shovels, work gloves, cats and and two dogs that would just love you to pieces. We never give them enough love!   Plus, you can lounge around anywhere inside or out, fall asleep, etc....We would love to see you.

Yea Jimmie Lee, yalls very own Bucees....Theyre a nice stop along the way.  Remember Stuckeys?   Buccees is sort of a Stuckeys on steroids....Back when I could eat pecans, I use to dream about stopping at Stuckeys and buying one of their pecan logs....Havent had one of those since I were a young lad knee high to a grasshopper!  The Buccees in Waller must employ at least half the town, which is a good thing for the Waller folks.

Hey Rick Hey Johnny and Jimmy...TJ, come to the front, TJ...

02/04/17 07:05 PM #8373

Teddie Jordan

Jimmie Lee, at least with Buc-ee's you will have the cheapest ice, the cheapest gasoline, and the very nicest, cleanest public restrooms in town.

02/05/17 10:26 AM #8374

Beau Wann, Jr.

Amen, and Amen TJ...well said !   20lbs O ice at Buccees is 99 cents. Onliest  other place that cheap is the new Exxon on 290 on the rat,  rat before you descend into the Brazos Valley. 20lbs 99 cents, or round a bouts thereof.  We stopped at Buccees last night on the way home from a ffamily function.  Place was lit brightern a shinnin star, busier n a stupor bowl sunday, cleaner than a hospital room,  employees friendlier n a hungry puppy, and coffee hot and black, just like I like it.

Lots of people there. Buses full of kids, girls softball team, special needs kids, all enjoying Buccees as if it were Disneyland.  I enjoy just sippin on a cup O joe and watchin the folks. A people watchin paradise if ever there was one!  They say that this one isnt even the busiest. I think the one on east I-10 somewhere around baytown, the first one, is the busiest.  After seeing the one in Waller, I find that hard to believe. I asked one of the good folks that work there if it was always this busy, and she said, it was and then some.

They also carry nicely framed prints, like several of my Sister Kats paintings. They have "RHAPSODY IN BLUE" a horse drinking from a stream, and "EASY RIDER" , one of her longhorn paintings.  I have the original of RHAPSODY IN BLUE,  and a print of EASY RIDER I just happened to purchase at Buccees.

Well, I didnt get on here to extoll the merits of Buccees....well then bucko, just why did you get on here for? Hmmmm???

For the life of me, I cant remember why.  Well, shucky darn and hootnanny cereal....Ok, I'm going away, BUT I'LL BE BACK  yumpin yiminee...

Keep the sun....because it aint around, and hasnt been for some days, and "ride boldly ride"

Your frien and Waltripian, Homer Stacy Hobart William Cephus Wanninski esq...

Post Script: Found out my dads dads middle name, "William"...Homer Stacy was my moms dads name....wonder how someone came up with the name "Hobart" !  There is a welding machine company named that, but wonder where it came from. Hey, maybe I'm related to the welding machine company! Yeah, that's the ticket...

Jan Barnes '65 (Nimtz)

Jimmie Lee, We are also getting a Buccee's in Boerne in 2018. Just down the road from us and we're expecting a real traffic-jammer. Supposedly TxDot is working out the kinks so that we won't have to wait two hours in Buccee's traffic to make the exit to our house. Those tax dollars talk, don't they?

02/05/17 08:02 PM #8377

Jimmie Lee Smith (Brawner)

Jan, just seems that Boerne is such a nice, out-of-the way little town - really surprised.  Melissa is just off US 75 & 121, so traffic to Buc-ees will actually bypass us.  I had wondered the reason for a new, super-duper bridge going across US 75 for the Davis Road exit, which is an old road that isn't even paved - YET.  That bridge will provide south-bound exit off 75 to Buc-ees.  We'll take the tax dollars any way we can get them, since we have no other substantial businesses in Melissa.

Hope your rehabbing has been helpful and that you are healing quickly.  Do you just have brittle bones - just wondering since this is your 2nd leg fracture.  I'm so sorry this keeps happening to you.

Waltrip Band, A friend of ours at Church yesterday complimented the Waltrip Band with how well they did at Discovery Green. He had taught at Waltrip after getting an advanced degree from A&M. Thougth you all should know that the Waltrip traditions are being carried on.
