WOW Johnny,  I'd pack up and move to a highrise with all them snakes...we've only seen one, a blue indigo, which they say is a good snake cause it kills rattlesnakes.   We have one razorback tusker hog thaat comes to feed about midnight.  They eat snakes ! ! ! Maybe if i TALK real nice to him, he will go to your place and eat the snakes.   You dont need a cat, you need a mongoose, or one of those ordinance exploding robots, armed with explosives and a 12 ga.  Can a cat take on a poisonous snake and kill it?   maybe leo the lion...

3 copperheads?    Look out for number 4, cause they usually have a mate...the hog nose snake isnt poisonous, just scary...the coral snake is a killer for sure, and they dont have anymore anti-venom. Stopped making it since noboddy was getting bitten by one!   If no one gets cut, will they  stop making neosporen? bandaids?  sometimes the powers that be are a puzzlement and idjits! ! !

Ive killed 4 T rex spiders, you know the ones I mean.  I hate even saying the name, let alone see one...when I kill em, they are totally unrecognizable...no such thing as over kill....

wow 11 inches for you, that's way yonder  too much...most we've gotten in one fell swoop is 8 inches this last time...but before that, we've gotten 6 inches and 4 and 5 inches numerous times all in one fell swoop...speaking of which, it's raining NOW...DAMN AND I just washed my truck first time this year...

HOUSE FOR SALE...TROPICAL ISLAND OF CHAPPELL HILL...Lots O wildlife...sharks, whales, otters...wonderful humadidaty for beautiful skin...visit other islands by boat...large water way available, Tha brazos river...

row row row your boat, gently down the stream, merrily merrily merrily merrily, life is but a dream...DAMN sure is, but only a dream. Mostly it's wet reality...oh I know it can always be worse...just wait a few minutes, and just might be...

will trade for highrise apt...of comperable value...

pat, at one time bapt. temple had house at camp in palacios..2 story w/plumbing..built in 50's ...carla tore it up in 61..then they paid to build brick buildings ,so every church could use them...it was in 70's that they built place in east tx....all history now...

Hey Pat,  have you are any of yall been to camp CHO YEH, or to MO ranch?   I've never been to either, but had opportunities to go, just never worked out. My beloved and sons have been a zillion times, through Oaks Presbyterian Church,  or maybe just a dozen or two.  They had a great time at each church gathering.  I'm too old to go now. Besides, the bugs  would just follow me there and eat on me, like theyre doing here...

I went to a church camp back around 55 or 56...Mike Collins and Skeeter were there...dont remember anyone else there, I think the name of the camp was
Camp Waldeer or wilddeeer, and have no recollection at all where it was, or how long it took to get there and back, in fact I dont remember even traveling to or from the caamp. Hmmmmm, maybe it's something I made up in my idiot head....

I remember lots O pine trees, or trees in general which would lend to the east texas location.  There was a river running beside it, or a big lake, that we never got to go in, or even fish or canoe...this was strictly a walking around prayer camp.   For a week ! ! ! I'm pretty sure it had a decent chow hall. But all I remember eating was scrambled eggs...God, a mind is a terrible think...

Probably cost all of 5 or 10 dollars to go, which was a lot of money way yonder back then!  10 dollars was usually groceries for a couple of weeks.  I do remember when the Northwest Y opened up, it cost 12 dollars a year...unless I dont remember correctly on that...

Lots of things I remember, I dont remember anymore...

Beau, our group goes to a camp for a week every year.  Next year it is waxahachie at an Assemblies of God site.  We have stayed at ymca camp of the Rockies a few times and more recently in North Carolina and South Carolina.  We used to go to Tennessee every year, but decided to travel around.  We have been to mo ranch once.  Our group started as a Bible study in 1967 near rice university.  Then people graduated and got jobs all over, so we just get together as a large group (about 100) once a year.  One year we travelled to cape cod.  Strange place.  Of course my judgement is a bit clouded because I ate some cream of chicken soup which turned out to be clam chowder and had an anaphylactic shock episode.  My body decided it was allergic to shellfish in the 1970s.  Not fun.  The car trip up was fun.  I had eight teenagers with me and they were very entertaining.

Wow, how fun is that? Get together for a church camp with that many friends.  I always wanted to go to Mo Ranch or Cho Yeh, but it just never worked out. The only problem I would have had with going was the role playing.   I like discussions, but dont really want to be in a play. But, that's ok, didnt get to go no how.

Anaphalactic shock ??? Wow, that's serious bidness. Glad you recovered from it and are ok.  No shell fish for you!  I'm not a big sea food eater anyhoo. I like lobster and scallops and catfish and hushpuppies and french fries. I guess Hushpuppies and french fries arent really classified as seafood are they!  Well, I still like em anyway.

Maybe someday yall can come over to our island and have a non shellfish food BBQ if we give you chicken soup, you can bet it's just chicken soup...we make the best chicken soup with pork and vennison sausage and all the veggies in our pressure cooker....Planning on having a Waltrip get together at our house come this fall when the weather cools offf...and it drys up...some...

just mowed a couple of acres, and put the tractor up, and here it comes again...rain and wind! Dangdest year for rain I've ever seen since I was knee high to a grasshopper.  Now, we're knee high IN  grasshoppers and crickets...

Been reading the latest book by Dr Ben Carson...Good book, good man ! ! !

Beau Wann, Jr.

Hey Scotty, hope we see you and Lola in July...Hopefully we can get the outboard started and cruise on down there...

Wow, what a beautiful sunrise...

Night before last, my beloved says she is going to get supper ready...next thing I see, she is feeding the dogs, then she asks me to feed the cats, then after that,  I say, "ok, let us partake of supper", or  woids to that effect...then  she asks me to open the back door for her...so I do, and she is  carrying a couple of bowls outside !   I said, " the dining room table is the other way"... she says, "oh, I'm taking water and lettuce and carrots out to the little bunnies in the garden" ...taking food and water out to the bunnies in the garden????....Hells bells, dont they already get enough to eat from the produce we grow for them IN THE GARDEN? and enough water from all our watering????

No bunnies left behind...my bunny lies over the ocean...bunny and clod...

Something is deffinetly wrong here ! ! !     I get to eat, only after the dogs, cats, and wildlife...after all that, and the chores I did all day long, I was too tired to eat...

I certainly hope I dont haave to put braces on all he little bunny teeth, and buy em a car for their 16 th birthday and send em to college...that would be a zillion bucks...speaking of which, then they would want their share, then the coons, then our lone razorback, and the skunks, the frogs, the boidies etc ad infinitum....

You know, as nice as it is up here, when it doesnt storm, I think if I could, I'd move to Montana...yeah, I love Montana, cold and all...one of my sons has a good friend that has a couple of places in Thompson Falls, Montana....right on a river...they trout fish everyday...I'd just hang out by wherever the coffee pot was...weather here is calm and sunny, wind 0, all dogs and cats and little bunnies are down for a midmorning nap...so I guess alls right with the whirld...

Wild man of CHIWACS singing off from beautiful downtown Chappell Hill, Tx. 77426...Good day ! ! !

I know how much many of you like trivia, so here's a little trivia about the 4th of July you may or may not know: In 1776, when the Declaration of Independence was signed, the population of America was 2.5 million.  56 patriots signed the Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia and the first 7 words were, "When in the course of human events...", but the day did not become an unpaid national holiday for federal workers until 1870.  Then in 1941 it was declared a federal holiday for all.

The name "Uncle Sam" originated in 1812 when a meat packer by the name of Sam Wilson provided meat to the U.S. Army.  Someone saw the meat shipments that were stamped with U.S. and joked that the initials stood for "Uncle Sam" and the name stuck.  It has often been wondered if Sam Wilson looked anything like the guy dressed in a flag saying, "Uncle Sam wants you!"

Some additional less important but amusing trivia is that on the 4th of July 74 million people will have cookouts, Americans will consume more than a 150 million hot dogs, and they will spend more than $210 million on fire works.

Whatever you are doing on the Fourth of July, my friends, let us remember that we "belong to the land of the free and the home of the brave."  No matter what our differences, we live in the greatest country on earth.

Happy 4th of July everyone!

Susan, your post was one of those that made me wish this thing had a like button, especially the last paragraph.

You are right, there is a big divide on what is the best path forward for the U.S.. Our country is truly the greatest, and one of the best things about it is that we can disagree, but we are all allowed to speak our minds and vote our convictions. There is no doubt that what we all want is for the wonderful country and life we inherited to be still strong and healthy when we pass it on to our children and grandchildren. What we don't want them to inherit is another Greece.

Happy Fourth of July to you and all of our classmates, and happy birthday America!

Yes ! ! !   Well, tomorrow is the big day ! Gonna ride pegasus in the 4th of july parade up here in Chappell Hill, Tx 77426...Starts at 10, and probably be over around 10:05, but by golly, we're gonna have a parade. I guess they will pass the KAZOOS out in the morning when we get there.   I think I was a kazoo once, and passed out....

Diane and I polished up ol pegasus, and gave him an extra ration of sweet feed.  Shot up two rockets red glare tonight. Jack wanted back in the house. No fireworks for him!  Supposed to be a good day...sure hope so! Hope they have lots of vendors and food and stuff...food and stuff is good ! ! !

I'm guessing we should be home in time to take a nap or two!

Thanks Susan for the interesting trivia...I'm gonna try to eat 150 million hotdogs tomorrow, or one, which ever comes first! The Ladies from the bank said they will set up a lemonade stand in front of the bank tomorrow. Cant wait to wet my whistle with some good ol southern made lemonade.   Last batch I made was so tart, it took a whole day to get my lips right...

Ok, time to sing off...Keep the sun at your six and ride boldly ride...(me and my beloved and pegasus are gonna do just that in the morning)

Yore frien and chappell hill station master and meteorlogical wonder...me

Since Beau and Johnny are comparing critters on their places; here are the latest snake incidents at Johnny's place in New Ulm.  He has had 3 copperheads, 1 hognose and now 2 coral snakes on his deck and around flower beds!  2 Coral Snakes --- scary!!

First pic was 6/27 (chopped in 2 pieces) and second found today 7/8 --- 32 inches long!

Okay adding to Johnny's collection for today --- a 12 inch copperhead while he was weedeating the side of his house.  I think it's time for him to go inside!

Hey Johnny, what an impressive snake collection yall have. I'll bet Becky is so proud. One thing to remember on the coral snakes, while their venom is the most toxic and attacks the body in different and more debilitating ways, there is an important distinction. Unlike all of the other poisonous snakes of Texas they do not have fangs, and must chew on you for a while to inject their poison. So you do have time on your side, and should you get bit by one grab it and rip it off or shake it or scrape it off as quickly as possible. That should make a big difference in how much damage is done. But like the copperhead and rattlesnake the Coral is a beautiful creature. And your thirty two incher is a very mature one and has been there for many years.

And it would help if you'd get an outdoor cat, preferably a Tomcat. From my experience they are the best at killing snakes. But since he is an intact male you can expect him to be gone and off of snake duty about half the time on romantic adventures, and of course come home all scratched up and mangled. Damn men!

And boy did I get excited when I saw on the list of profile updates that Spanky Taylor had checked in. Like many of us I would love to see and catch up with him and the others listed. But it looks like false alarms.

07/09/15 09:04 AM #7198

Jackie Crowe (Finch)

Hey Teddie,

Sorry for the confusion, but Spanky Taylor did not update his profile.  There are about 6 classmates that showed a profile update yesterday ---- that was me!   Looking over the profiles, I realized I had never attached a yearbook picture of them and added.  However, there's an area that says "Do you want to show this profile update" and I clicked "NO" and it always worked.  Yesterday it didn't and of course showed on homepage and there's no way I can remove.  So any of the updates dated 7/8 was me adding yearbook pictures ----- sorry sad

Just call me the snake whisper.

In the last 2 months 5 copperheads, 1 hog nose , and 2 coral snakes.

I bought me some snake boots up to my knees, but may need them

up to my rear end.  Have cat on order and

just got through looking at the judge pistol.

Any way ready for snow.  Oh teddy, don't

believe I will try to let the coral snake naw

a bit on me and try to shake

off.  The last one was about 2 feet from me

and I was so startled had to get a beer

after killing it.

The ranch helper up the hill almost step

on a 5 foot rattle snake last week.  Hope I don't see that.

Will keep all posted  on the snake whisper.

Johnny
