GREAT GOOGAMOOGA...THATS ONE VERY LARGE HANDBAG OR PAIR OF SHOES...i'LL BET THAT OL BOY COULD EAT UP HIS WEIGHT IN GROCERIES...HARD TO BELIEVE SOMETHING CAN GET THAT BIG, AND NOT EAT EVERYDAY...take it off caps...ok ok, done...and maybe only once a month...glad HE'S not inhabiting the cement pond...probably eat my lawnmower...lawnmower heck, probably a tractor with 6ft brush hog...and trailer...

Just watched U of H beat UCLA...it was touch and go for a spell...thought UH was just gonna give it away...defensive coach and players went to sleep...plus, UCLA brought their own announcers and referees...I thought channel 37 FS was a local sports station...the announcers were sure pro UCLA...refs missed a lot of calls against UCLA, blatant calls...see, cheaters never win...well, not never...

Watched lonesome dove for the umpteenth million time...still good...I like ol Gus...he was sportin a Walker Colt, in that movie...largest handgun at that time, and for a long time too...only 1000 of them were ever made, by a Samuel Walker and Colt...Mr Walker was a Texas Ranger...He died in a firefight down in Mexico, which so infuriated his buds, 50 or 100 of em, they completely destroyed a mexican army garrison of 5000 soldiers...Them texas rangers were some bad ol boys...when provoked...probably didnt take much to provoke em either...

Ifin you had one of those Colt Walkers today, one of the original 1000, if in excellent shape, well, one of em sold at auction for almost a million dollars...thats just a might out of my price range...plus, I wouldnt want something I couldnt or shouldnt shoot...It belongs in a museum...

looks like LSU is whuppin the stuffins out of the oregon ducks...oregon is helpin em by two fumbles in a row...they're playing in a dome stadium...death valley doesnt have a dome does it...I have the sound down, and CC turned off, so I cant tell where they are...no matter...

the radar shows a massive storm heading west towards us, from TS Lee, but so far, it must be hitting a wall, cause it aint getting here...and them ol weather bureau boys just give us a 30 percent chance...thats just wrong...what do we have to do to get rain???? I know, everyone wash and wax their cars and trucks, and then park em in your yards, with the windows down, thats what I think I will do, and leave my bike out...leave all our electronics out...

I know I've already posted this picture, but it's one of my favorite...see, we can all get along together...thats a blue tick hound and of course the ol boy next to him is one of the politicians in washington  that has him around the neck...

its hard to believe that a lizzard can get so big, think of how much it has to eat every day;i see a little t-rex in that example.its been a long trip.i went to an exibit at the tri-state fair a few years ago and there was a live allagator and a live saltwater croc laying side by side in a shallow tank.i forgot how long they were but as you can tell from this one;they can be huge.

jackie, your cousin would be just one meal for this monster;they put us on the endangered species list.

teddie, back to your camera shot at the mule tank;think there might be tunnels under your fence? the jorden oasis is probably on the coyote map in mexico.

Jackie, great picture of you and the girls. You look like four 30 somethings sitting around that table.

And Burge is right, that is one big lizard. I used to run my Labs in hunting field trials over in South Louisiana and always worried when we would run the water portion of the tests. A swimming dog is like candy to a gator.

Burge, by the time those travelers get to us they are about 65 miles in from the Rio Grande as the crow flies and have probably walked a hundred miles or more. High fences are so ubiquitous now that they have already climbed at least a hundred of them when they get to ours. You get the feeling that it is no more inconvenient to them than us stepping up or down a curb.

once again jackie has put up a great home page.look at those guys, tony and llyod, scotty et al;what a group.

a 21 foot salt water croc captured alive in the philippines.they plan to exibit it in an eco park.i think that is the range of length of the croc and alligator i saw at the tri-state fair.the one in the phillipines had been seen eating a water buffalo. followed by villagers;they had a  time capturing it.

21 FOOT LONG CROCODILE???? I BELIEVE THATS IN THE T-REX CATEGORY!!!!! HOLY GUACAMOLE BATMAN...What does a 21 ft croc eat???? anything it wants or gets in it's way I suppose...

I remember in my youte, pre teen years, going to the zoo here and in Little Rock...they had a 20 plus foot long croc that just gave me nightmares as a youte...and they had a tank with a 20 ft plus alligator gar...nasty looking creature...heard my dad and uncles and grand dad talking about lassoing big gars in the Arkansas River and going for a ride in a homemade boat or canoe...fishing with dynamite...you know, the good old fashion way...sorta nuclear noodling if you will, and even if you wont...

They also told me about putting something in a mayonaise jar, drop it in the water, and when it got to a certain depth, it would explode...does mayonaise explode???? Think I'll stick to Mustard and katsup...easier on the fish...

Read a Leon Hale column, (pronounced col yum by my family) anyway, I forget when his colyum comes out, so dont get to read that many of them...this particular one he was talking about whistling...talking about the several different ways to whistle...the pucker, and two finger, and then what I call the "busted lip" no finger whistle...I could do the pucker one very well, with warble, almost bird like...been told that I have perfect pitch...never could even come close with the "busted lip" (my description. so if you use that term, you must credit me and or get my permission) yeah right...howsomever, one of the more useful things I learned during my tenure at Sam Houston State, with the "Waltrip dirty 3 dozen" was the two finger whistle, taught by none other than ROBERT KNOX...I was so excited that I could whistle like that...made going to college worth while...my mom and dad were not impressed...what was wrong with them????

I cant whistle like that any more, because one of my front tooths/teeths is/are missing...ok, you figure it out...I tried the last sentence with all different woids, and none of them sounded right...but you know what I mean...I would try it with my bridge, but I aint puttin that nasty thing back in my mouth...maybe I need to go to a HIGH DOLLAR DENTIST, rather than ol Doc Holiday...
But I swear, I've tried eating with that, er uh, bowling ball in my mouth, and it cant be done...I imagine if I were to have it in my mouth and tried to whistle, I'd be spraying false teeth all to hell and gone...what are those made out of, ivory, plastic, billiard balls...????

One other whistle he was talking about, which I never considered a whistle, was the "dove" sound...by cupping your right hand and cupping the left around it and blowing through your thumbs and then opening up the left hand and raising the pitch...like Mr Hale said, it really sounds like a mourning dove...I actually tried this months ago, and I can still do it...another real great accomplishment in my life...the two finger whistle and the dove call...most folks only win the Pulitzer prize and the now cheapened Nobel Peace Prize, you can buy or get in trading card gum products...but I, am a whistling fool...

I never could do the two finger whistle under pressure...when I needed to signal someone quickly, couldnt get my whistler to woik...it was more of a "whoooosh", and anybody knows, that dont cut it...I really admired the guys and gals that could do the "busted lip" no finger whistle...they are in a league of their own...you know, when youre rounding up the little doggies, and smacking your chaps with your lasso, and holding the reins of your fine cuttin horse, "Dixie" with your left hand, you aint got no spare fingers to be shoving into your pie receptacle, at least no clean fingers...so the "busted lip no finger" whistle was a required tool...I'm trying it now, and getting a funny look from cats and dogs and wife alike...

Another noise making, er uh talent, was the piece of St Augustine grass between your two thumbs...not really a whistle, as much as a...uh er...noise...I mastered that at a very young age down on DuBarry St...you good folks didnt knwo I was so talented did you...yeah I am...also a piece of ordinary notebook paper will work, but then it is not as "green" a sound as a piece of grass...I'm not exactly sure what I mean either...but lets just say there is a hidden message there...a clue, if you will, to where the Holy Grail is hidden, the Ark of the Covenant...

Man, 500 plus homes burned in Bastrop...just terrible...got a note from a classmate that there was a fire at North Zulch...that is south of us about 10 miles, and with the prevailing north winds, is not a threat to my place...yet...but, there is another fire due north of us between Jewett and Flynn, heading south...that one might get us...but it is more than 15 miles north, 0 percent contained, but maybe it will not cross 7 or 39 plus got a few lakes and tanks in between us and it...looks like the whirld is on fire...is that how this all ends????

I suppose a lot of folks thought that the whirld was at it's end during all the wars and battles on this whirld...if we could just get some RAIN...HOW BOUT IT??? A LITTLE HELP HERE?????

Never thought I'd hate seeing blue sky, but we sure missed a good opportunity for rain with TS Lee...looked like a massive rain storm was heading this way, only to hit a wall...THEY SAY, and you know who they is, that it will be 59 in the morn...109 one day one week, and 59 the next...only a 50 degree swing...scary...dont really care what the temp is, if we could get some rain...

Does make motorcycle riding nicer...rode this weekend with my beloved...breakfast at Yale Pharmacy...

Lost my train of thought...fires got me worried...locating essential paper work for an evac, should we need to...hope it doesnt come to that here in beautiful down town Oak Forestville...our Mayberry...what to save???? Beloved and critters of course...

Guess I will sign off for now...got work todo...

Beau- Out here in the middle of nowheres- San Angelo- the fires consumed over 100,000 acres. Wife Susie Q and I drove around 70 miles today looking at the aftermath. Very few homes in the affected areas, but the little mountains were burned completely of vegetation. Really hard to look at Mother Nature at work.

Loved your entire whistling report - even the one with the Dubarry grass. Laughed my head clean off and I guess I must have needed it. Thanks again !! BJ

Horrible news about Bastrop and other fires.  Makes me sick to think of all the panic, loss of everything, both for people and animals.  An environmental catastrophe that will change the ecosystem for many, many years.  I know my grass is a tinderbox, but I do live in a city that would hopefully be able to put out a fire in a few minutes, with two fire stations practically on each corner, but what about all of you living in smaller towns surrounded by acres of straw like grass?  I do hope you are safe.  Is anyone out there living near Bastrop or Magnolia?  I pray you have been spared, but also pray for any of your friends or relatives and their losses.

Yesterday, when I was watering my plants, I made a puddle in the street.  As I walked off all kinds of birds swooped down and started bathing, drinking and chirping like crazy.  I'm going out there every morning to give them water.  It was so much fun, I felt like Snow White when all the little birds held her dress and flew around her chirping.  I wish they would have come in and helped me clean house like they did in the movie.

I had another eye injection and am pleased to say my vision has improved and the Lucentis medication in the injection is working at drying up the fluid.  Now, I only have to have an injection every 6 weeks.  The best news is I can see math problems now.  What a relief!  Again, for all of you reading this remember to have those eyes checked-out fo AMA!

Off to tutor....have a good day!

Jennie

Jackie - That huge alligator you show is truly a whopper.  It was taken in West Columbia, not far from Houston.  It is a 13-footer but looks bigger because the 'short' lens exaggerates the size of objects close to the lens.  Example with a fisheye, an extremely short lens:

See more at http://www.snopes.com/photos/animals/wcgator.asp  I wouldn't want that guy crawling through my screen door into my kitchen - it would give me a fright, especially first thing in the morning!

Thanks, Steve for the update --- it happened near West Columbia and that's in Matagorda County.   I don't know where I came up with Brazoria County --- especially since my cousin and his wife live in Angleton - just a senior moment!

I knew there were other stories that it happened in Florida -- but it did happen here and I've never heard the story about the photo lens, but I do know for sure that's my cousin ---- and he shot it.

Thanks, Burg, --- I always have fun with the website.  Doesn't Lloyd look cute in his tights!  I've also added some new songs - so turn up the volume and turn back time!

Thanks, Teddie --- wish we were back in our 30's!  But okay, we're a bit older, but still having fun!

Hugs,

J

Hey Jackie, that ol gater is at least 16 feet long ifin he's a inch...Me and the think tank here at the JETHRO BEAUDINE INSTITUTE FOR HIGHER LARNIN, CYPHERIN, DOUBLE NAUGHT SPY, AND BRAIN SURGERY SCHOOL, did a complete digical and analogical study of the subject, and have come to the cornclusion that, that ol boy is at least 18 ft long ifin he's a inch...ah do believe ah said that didnt ah!!!!  this was a objective study... Professor Big Oliver led the charge whilst being Objective as hell, cause I woke him up...smacked me a goodun he did...so then I objected to his objection...and round and round we went, till we came to the cornclusion that that ol alamagator was at least 20 feet long...and growing...whooee, wont be long before that ol boy turns into a T-Rex...and twerent no dang fish eye lens either neither...sounds kind of fishy to me...how would you like to go noodling, and stick your hand in a catfish haint, and come out with that ol boy...well, dont think youd come out, probably just disappear...

Just heard that the fire in Leon county south of Jewett, has consumed 5000 acres, and jumped highway 7 and headin for Flynn...they have evacuated Flynn...Flynn is about 4 miles west of us as the crow flies...if theres crows around, they better be haulin bunns...if the winds shift out of the northwest, wont be much to stop it from overrunning the wanderosa...just some railroad tracks in Flynn, and a couple of dirt county roads...I sure hate to think of all the critters caught in that inferno...even the mean ol hogs...nothing should have to suffer being burned alive...worst way to die I can imagine...and no rain in sight...supposed to be 100 or more again at the end of the week...great, just great...

Had lunch today at ANGIES...people, you are really missing out on some good vittles...had beef tips etc...even brought some home for my beloved, so she doesnt have to cook supper when she gets through playing teacher...that ought to get me some more husband points, cause she loves ANGIES beef tips...and just about anything that comes from ANGIES...

You wont believe what she...cooked last night...are you ready for this...??? Sit down, cause it's gonna hurt ya...
Ok, I warned ya, please have the children leave the room,  here goes:   Parsnips, rudabaga, turnips, carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, and potatoes...I sure felt sorry for the potatoes having to rub, er uh, elbows with  all the aforementioned...stuff...I saw her buy all that stuff, and saw her put it in the fridge, and watched it marinate in the vegetable drawer, staring back at me like it was a hungry ol 22 ft long alagator...I didnt say anything, just waiting to see what she was gonna do with all that...stuff...
I had no idear, she was gonna try to commit moider...I saw her choppin it up, and just singing, and hummin, and flippin through a cookbook or three...she never said a word, just kept right on concoctin that...vile...stuff...simmerin it in one of my finest pans...guess I'll have to throw that pan out now...

You know, back in my DuBarry days, putting stuff like that together, was agin the law unless you were makin a poultice, or assaphidity bag, or some other hoodoo to ward off evil spirits...but, you put THAT stuff on the table for supper, and you was in for doin some hard time...a capital offense if there ever was one...

Anyway, she gave me a burger and avocado with all the trimmins, and she had one too, but also put some of that toxic...stuff on her plate...didnt even ask if I wanted some...good thing too, cause we would a commenced ta gettin a D-I-V-O-R-C-E...rat then and there...she never said it was good or bad, knowing her, if she didnt brag on it, it was BAD...but she ate it, and then had the gall to put the leftovers in the fridge...oh, a errant spoonful, made it's way onto the kitchen floor...Jack, mah dawg, went over to it, sniffed it, looked at me, rolled his now teary eyes, and RAN from the room...I'm gonna have to call HAZMAT to retrieve it...AH AINT TOUCHING THAT STUFF WITH A 25 FOOT ALAGATOR...NO SIR...

ok, time to roll down the stairs...the little woman should be rolling in bout now...I serve her beef tips and mashed potatoes and gravy and blackeye peas, and greens, and green beans, and homemade rolls, and she serves up something even the dogs wont eat...and cat jack, will eat almost anything...heck, I'll bet the roaches, if we had any, wouldnt touch that stuff...(we have not seen a roach in our house in 15 years...cats dont allow em in the house)

Ok, I believe I was saying arrevaderci roma...good bye, goodbye to Rome...Oh, thats another song..your frien smoky the bear, DOD.
.

Just thought I'd share a picture of my Grandson Taylor on a Dove Hunt Sunday...he is using his GREAT GREAT GRANDFATHERS WESTERN FIELD 20 GA SHOTGUN...It came to me a number of years back, so I surprised him with it last Christmas...what a fine young man he is...dont know if they got any doves, I wasnt there...Kevin sent this picture to me from his Uphone, or Iphone, or whatever in the heck it is...

Well good mornin' all you Waltripians. I'm back in the world of commerce again. took the opportunity to do a little roadtrip over the holiday. Started out on Satiddy mornin' after dropping Liz the Wonder Dog at the Oak Forest Doggie Hilton (also known as Oak Forest Veterinary Clinic). She is such a socializer she just has a grand time apparently. The staff is always glad to see her. Most of them have known her since she was a pee wee dog, When I found her she weighed 3 lbs. Last weigh in she was 53 lbs. Still no apparent fat on her. Sorry didn't mean to digress on Liz. Headed out I-10 up Hwy 71 to Bastrop. Little did I know that in a couple of days that area would be scorched. Then took Hwy 21 to Buda. For those of you who aren't geographically inclined that is just south of Austin on I-35. I was there to enjoy a fambly reunion with Paige's fambly. It was a good time. We had grilled burgers and hot dogs and all sorts of companion dishes. Then topped of the meal with chocolate fudge cake, cherry cobbler and homemade vanillas ice cream. I visited with  Paige's son Chris while he was making it. The youngest grandkid, Marianne, Walt's youngest, was observing and assisting. She's in 1st grade and just bright as a new penny. She wanted to know all about the process of making the ice cream and why each step was taken. It brought back lots of memories from "the day". One of the things that is a welcome addition is electric ice cream freezers. I can remember being taken advantage of by the elders of the family by pitting the younger males against one another to get the ice cream cranked. Great memories but a lot of work since my family was populated mainly by girl cousins. Not much help on the cranking. .  .

I got to Buda about noon. Just in time for a glass of wine before lunch. . . .timing is everything in life! We left about 8:00. Paige's family is populated with folks who are musically inclined. They could be a family choir group and they play instruments also. Except for the little ones. They have the inclination but not the know how yet. They are very knowledgeable about noise making. Particulary beating on drums. After 8 hrs. of noise I made a big memo to self. Next gathering bring earplugs. Kid noise, five levels of adults conversation and football games on TV left my ears needing a rest.

Due to the hour we decided to stay in the Buda area and head out in the AM. That proved a challenge because Buda is so close to Austin it gets the was over of UT football weekends. We tried several places , no luck but one guy told us about a place he knew had vacancies. The reason was the intersection where it was located was under reconstruction. When we go there there had been major accident. The police had the exit blocked with ambulance all around so we went further and came back around. Anyway we got a room at a very nice new motel.

We headed out next morning to Fredricksburg after breakfast at Garcia's in Buda.Just great piping hot food. Even had home made tortillas  We had taken some back roads so we saw a lot of great country. Boy is it parched out there. Shortage of peaches , etc. due to the drought. Had a couple of great meals at the Rathskeller. We highly recommend it if you're wondering where to eat there. Just spent a lot of time meandering up and down Main St.  helping out the local economy. . .shopping you know (oh boy)! We really had a fun time.

Headed for College Station  in the late afternoon down Hwy 290 the traffic coming into Austin was bumper to bumper with all those folks evacuwating from the Bastrop area. The traffic headed south was worse than normal due to folks trying to get around the fires. It was truly awesome when we got parallel with Bastrop. We were a good distance away but you could see the glow from the flames in the large amounts of smoke. This is truly different than anything I remember . I remember grass fires but nothing like the wildfires we've had this year. It's really awful. I spent the night in College Station due to the uncertainty of everything. Headed to Houston yesterday morning. The Grimes County fire was still going strong. Between Navasota and Hempstead I drove through heavy smoke that was like driving in fog. Just unforgettable. I'm glad I've never had to run for my life in that type situation. Just count your blessings folks and hug your loved ones. Enjoy every day fully.

Beau, many thanks to you and Coop for your watering of the Memorial Orchard. I didn't know it mystical experiences were occurring at OPC. Life is always interesting if you're paying attention.

Time to get back to capitalist endeavors.

Keep on dancing,

Rich LH

Hey Rich LH, you capitalist dawg you...wondered what happened to you...now we see, dont we, see...see???? I headed up 290 to Hempstead, was gonna ride the back roads, but smoke drove me away...couldnt turn around fast enough...smoke is not good for my already funky lungs...didnt breathe in too much...Son Billy's long time friend and hunting buddy, just lost his 100 acre preserve, cabin, outbuildings, everything...even fireplace was not left standing...place has been in the family for almost 100 years...everyone around there lost everything...cabins 50 to 100 years old, burned to the tground...

The news isnt even tracking the fire up in Leon County, but TPW is...so far, more than 5000 acres burned...

Angies today...had an uncalled un scheduled, unmeeting of the WABEC at Angies...Chicken and dumplins, Lasagna, brought some home for the little woman...

Hey Kay, Robert, Gary, Dennis, and anyone up in the country, IF YOU NEED ANY HELP AT ALL EVAACUATING, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CALL ON ME...I WOULD IMAGINE MOST FOLKS IN OUR CLASS WOULD BE WILLING TO HELP...DONT DO IT ALONE...YOU NEED AN ARMY????? YOU GOT ME...!!!!!!! Call me, I'll come a runnin...I have 6 pet carriers, from Xlarge to small...Jack or Cooper could get in the large one...if you have to run, turn your gas off...

Sawr on the news just minutes ago, that a fire in Bastrop was deliberatly set by 4 kids...I hope they catch em and smack em...hard too...

OK, GOT to lay down, back is really screaming at me...ran into some turbulence on Pegasus, and jared the everlovin rudabaga out of my back...

your frien and smokey bears frien, DOD

Thanks Beau, and all,

I'm fine, hate to hear about Billy's friends old place....can't get those back!  I'm about 4 mi. from police and fire station and 2 mi. from beautiful new school....vigilance on all the areas. But if we went up (wind blowing power lines and makes them arc, b/c of drought, the fires are happening) we would go up fast! The smoke is getting to me today though, left the car windows down.

yo beau, the fire in leander is the one that 4 teens are suspect.it was small compared to the bastrop fire.ive seen vidios of the bastrop fire and it is unbelievable.i have camped at bastrop  park and can remember stopping there many times to and from austin. im sure that many who went to u.t. remember how beautiful it was.all that area is a great loss.if these fires were deliberatly set;there are few words to describe the people who did it.with knowlege of the conditions and potential for loss of life, heinious is the watch-word. its a shame that there are people in this country that would do that but so many are filled with hatred, consumed by evil.america is seeing dark days...what's next?

a word of incouragement is a rare thing indeed,im glad someone is optimistic.i agree in that there is plenty of proof of this in history.we have tested the ideas of man time and time again.the progressives showed thier stuff9eugenics) to hitler and made genoside legal,it was defeated but for a remnant.stalin murdered his millions and mao purged his millions, aside from warfare.there was a joke going around the soviet union just before its break-up about a reporter asking a worker how things were going for them.he commented between shots of vodka;"well, things are about the same,we continue to pretend to work and the government continues to pretend to pay us".the great love affair with marxism and world-wide governance by the state is one that will break the heart of the 'true believers'.marx was an 'ivory tower intelectual' who despised the working class.the closest he ever got to the working man was a tour arranged by his uncle ferdanand phillips who owned phillips electronics.yes;that phillips electronics, the one who makes the t.v.sets sitting in the living room of millions of people.karl marx was a petty,jeaulous,mal-content who infected the world with an unatainable ideology that was not in any way a true measure of human nature.

I hope pastor Dan is a good guy!!!! if so, High praise from one that is a spiritual rock, and inspiration...thanks Kay...
Any of yall remember James Winborn, aka Butch class of 63 methinks????? He lives off Kickapoo rd around Hockley...they had to evacuate early this week...fire got within a quarter mile of his house...not allowed back in yet, but they think it was stopped just short of their property...lets hope so...havent been up to our place yet...fire jumped 7, but was stopped shortly after, and as of last update was 70 percent contained and slowed to a crawl...wont try to save anything, dont have anyplace to store it...mostly tools and odds and ends...dont you just love that "odds and ends"...smart person that came up withthat...kinda like "hither and yon"..."helter skelter"...

Removed all the hunting supplies, ie guns and ammo and the like a month ago...if it goes, it goes...I feel bad for all the little critters just trying to survive...deer season is gonna be sparse this year, not just because of the fires, but the drought...lots o critter moms were left with the terrible decision of deciding which offspring was strongest to survive and letting go the sickly ones...but, thats mother nature...only the strong survive...

I'm looking at Jack, asleep on the couch next to me...his life started out in the wild...doubtfull if he would have survived this summer if left out there...dont know who's the luckiest, him or us...ever now and again, I reach over and stroke his head or chest, and he just heaves the heaviest contented sigh...good dog he...

Good thing that Garys place in Arkansas got lots of rain this past year, almost too much...same with Texarkana...fire in the mountains is a whole lot more difficult than fire down here in the flatlands...but still bad nonetheless...maybe, just maybe we will be blessed with a few inches of rain, here and there, mostly here and there...

Worked at the church most of yesterday, watering some of the big trees...got my San Angelo Bar, (not a Bar in San Angelo, ) a 6 foot 6 sided 30 pound steel rod with a 3 inch chiesl on one end and a point on the other... and put as many deep waterin holes around just some of the trees, and each tree 40, in the orchard...musta been a million holes...my shoulders and back are saying "un uh, dont do that anymore"...watered till midnight last night...dont know if it's doing any good...lost two oaks, and looks like two more are about to go under...just dont have enough water pressure or time to save em...

OH, here's a tip for ya...sometime bout 10 year or more ago, I put in deep waterin holes around my trees here at the Wanncompound...got the idear from either the gardening section of the chronicle or one of home mags that we were taking at the time...If you dont have one, go to Home Depot or Lowes, or any hardware store, and purchase a post hole digger...go ahead, I'll wait...hmm hmmm hmmm la de da de dum...ok, you got one??? good...now, go hire a bevy of teenage girls, have em wear their bathing suits, so they can wash your cars...then go find some strappin young teenage boys, and station em on the end of your post hole diggers...show em where you want the holes dug, and watching the girsl, will inspire the boys to dig to china...hormones will do it every time...(dont attempt to dig the holes yourself, we are too old, and the girls are too young)

Dig the holes 18 to 24 inches deep, just "post hole digger wide",  place them about 5 ft aprt along the drip line of your trees...then fill with pea gravel, or river rock...river rock, is larger than pea gravel, and I think works better...I believe they call that a "french drain"...
I drew up a map/plot where I placed the holes, but have long since lost the map...but they fill with water with every waterin, and also when it rains...whenever that will be...

One of my neighbors cut the bottoms out of the 2liter size plastic "sody pop" (yankee for cocola)
bottles, and placed them upside down, that would be small end down for you progressives, just kidding, lighten up...take the top off first and empty them, that would be good...then sink them in the length of the bottle...then just fill up with water...and voila...deep waterin stuff...

Me and Cooper gettin geared up for the reading program at Cy Fair...starts Sept 19...got a passel of other places to visit with the mellow yellow fellow...trying to get in out at the VA hospital to visit the wounded warriors...

Is it me, or ist just me???? Lost my train of thought there...well, if thats the only thing I lose today, that will be swell...Ok, lessee, where was I??? Hmmm, oh yeah, LOST!!!!!

Ok, today is BEEF TIP day at angies...I call an impromtu, slightly unscheduled, and semi-important unmeeting of the WABEC at Angies...all in favor???? all opposed???? seeing none and hearing none, guess it will be just me...a quantum for sure...

time to go...gotta hobble downstairs, thank goodness for stair rails...other wise it would be the old standard way I used when I was a kid going down stairs, the tried and true method of "bump your butt"...you know the one I mean...most of yall tried it at one time or another...well, not on DuBarry street, no two story houses, no stairs...sharp aint I!!!!

Funny thing, growing up, I allus wanted a two story house...be careful what you wish for, you just might get it...
Hope all is well with everyone...as well as can be expected...
your frien and smoky bears frien...DOD...or my indian name..."walks noisy through the woods"

A face any mother could love...
you know I just had to put a picture of my "special" ed pup on here...never fails to make me smile...looks like he still has the stitches above his eye...well, they are out now, and he is doing fine...yea for Texas A&M vets...and any other vet...

kay,im sorry but i dont really know anything about pastor dan.i do know that beau has a very active mind and has probably pondered about many things.let me know something about paster dan.i visited the waltrip 65 page the other day and was encouraged by the participation and up-beat mood.we need for all the ones that used to comment on the 64 site to weigh in.ive logged on to find some who are listening but not commenting.whats with that?my feelings are already pretty much hurt so give me a shot. what you say is important.lets ease this polorazation if we can.everyone has lived and witnessed different things.we are in a real crisis;some so wounded by offence and trauma that we need to help and quit tearing down the house.

teddie, since i was once nominated "mother of the year" ,i will take the responsibility to love all those little south texas faces.i think nature shows the brilliance of creation, even in the meager grasshopper.check out that eye.umm,munch.just kidding.some people do love them as a delecacy;some eat cats and dogs.its a strange world we live in;im glad we are who we are.

whats going on here?is this the army that jimmy hoffa talked about?the longshoremen destroying infrastructure and taking hostage five security guards in washington state?people throw around the word terrorism but isnt this exactly what has been done by the union.cutting break lines on trains is sabotage.will we hear about it on the so called news?what will homeland security do?is it over for civilization?

well i must say;regardless of differences iv had with bill clinton, his speech at the 'flight 93 tribute' was one of the best i have ever heard.he conveyed the emotion that most americans felt that day;ten years later it still rings true.those passengers rose up to sure death in order to take back that plane.valor that is seldom witnessed.im glad that they were honored and i hope people respond to the call to finish that memorial.
