Beau, Cafe' Ri'chard gets a little more involved that a shot of liquor. First you brew a pot of chicory coffee. While that's brewing fill your cups with hot water so your fresh coffee won't go into a cold cup. My preference is plain white mugs but to each to his own. After you do that whip up some cinnamon whipped cream When the coffee is brewed fill each cup 2/3 full (it will work better if you pour the water out of the cups first). Then add a half jigger of Cognac and half jigger of Kaluha. Now float some cinnamon whipped cream on the top of each cup so that it is level with the top of the cup. Do not build a mound of whipped cream and do not put one of those little red stir straws in it. That is fru fru coffee. You had better start working on the next batch because everyone will want seconds and thirds. Even the non-coffee drinkers. Enjoy!

Paige, wine in coffee sounds pretty yuk to me. I think those two beverages should be drunk on their own.

Did any of you gear heads see the article in the Chronicle last week about a guy that restored a 1951 Ford Tudor. I don't remember that model do any of you? Aparently the owner did the whole restoration himself except for the seat upholstery and the headline, pretty unusual.

Keep on dancing,

Rich LH

Paige, I agree with you. Good coffee does not have to be fresh or hot. I always pour the last of the pot in the morning in my cup, set it aside, and enjoy it later into the day.

Well said RLH, have not found a wine that goes well in coffee, yet.

This is probably the best e-mail

I've seen in a long, long time..

The following has been attributed

to State Representative Mitchell

Kaye from GA. but was actually

written by Lewis Napper in 1993

We the sensible people of the United States, i"n an attempt to help everyone get along, restore some semblance of justice, avoid more riots, keep our nation safe, promote positive behavior, and secure the blessings of debt-free liberty to ourselves and our great-great-great-grandchildren, hereby try one more time to ordain and establish some common sense guidelines for the terminally whiny, guilt ridden, delusional.  We hold these truths to be self evident: that a whole lot of people are confused by the Bill of Rights and are so dim they require a Bill of NON-Rights."

ARTICLE I: You do not have the right to a new car, big screen TV, or any other form of wealth.. More power to you if you can legally acquire them, but no one is guaranteeing anything.

ARTICLE II:  You do not have the right to never be offended. This country is based on freedom, and that means freedom for everyone -- not just you! You may leave the room, turn the channel, express a different opinion, etc; but the world is full of idiots, and probably always will be.

ARTICLE III:  You do not have the right to be free from harm. If you stick a screwdriver in your eye, learn to be more careful; do not expect the tool manufacturer to make you and all your relatives independently wealthy.

ARTICLE IV:  You do not have the right to free food and housing. Americans are the most charitable people to be found, and will gladly help anyone in need, but we are quickly growing weary of subsidizing generation after generation of professional couch potatoes who achieve nothing more than the creation of another generation of professional couch potatoes ..

ARTICLE V: You do not have the right to free health care. That would be nice, but from the looks of public housing, we're just not interested in public health care.

ARTICLE VI: You do not have the right to physically harm other people. If you kidnap, rape, intentionally maim, or kill someone, don't be surprised if the rest of us want to see you fry in the electric chair..

ARTICLE VII:  You do not have the right to the possessions of others. If you rob, cheat, or coerce away the goods or services of other citizens, don't be surprised if the rest of us get together and lock you away in a place where you still won't have the right to a big screen color TV or a life of leisure.

ARTICLE VIII:  You do not have the right to a job. All of us sure want you to have a job, and will gladly help you along in hard times, but we expect you to take advantage of the opportunities of education and vocational training laid before you to make yourself useful. (AMEN!)

ARTICLE IX: You do not have the right to happiness. Being an American means that you have the right to PURSUE happiness, which by the way, is a lot easier if you are unencumbered by an over abundance of idiotic laws created by those of you who were confused by the Bill of Rights.

ARTICLE X:  This is an English speaking country. We don't care where you are from, English is our language. Learn it or go back to wherever you came from! (Lastly.....)

ARTICLE XI: You do not have the right to change our country's history or heritage.. This country was founded on the belief in one true God. And yet, you are given the freedom to believe in any religion, any faith, or no faith at all; with no fear of persecution. The phrase IN GOD WE TRUST is part of our heritage and history, and if you are uncomfortable with it, TOUGH!

If you agree, share this with a friend. No, you don't have to, and nothing tragic will befall you if you don't. I just think it's about time common sense is allowed to flourish. Sensible people of the United States speak out because if you do not, who will?

Please pray for the USA ..
All things are possible through the Lord when "In God we Trust."

Robert and Paige, drinking cold coffee is not unpleasant just like drinking iced tea is a nice beverage. The key as I'm sure you both know is getting it off the heat. I Old scorched tasting coffee is nasty tasting or to put it in Paige speak, "it's yucky". From what I read, coffee begins to degrade after about 15 minutes on heat. I don't think you can taste that much difference that quickly but it doesn't take very long for it start on the down hill slope.

I hope everyone has a great weekend. Looks like it will be a chilly one with some rain on Saturday but that's no big hill for Waltripians to get over.

Keep on dancing,

03/04/11 09:46 PM #3808

Beau Wann, Jr.

Saw the obit in todays paper on Coach Agleton...I had him for drivers ed...anyone remember what kind of car we drove???? I thought it was a Rambler...dont remember if it was stick or auto...and I also dont remember who all was in my Drivers ed class...I remember Coach told me to drive, and to head out old 290...he never said where to go, or where to turn around...he fell asleep, so I just kept on driving...when he woke up, we were at Cy Fair...I wasnt trying to be funny or a wisea**, he just said to head out and fell asleep, so I did what he said...heck fire, I didnt know where to turn around or if I should...looking back, I probably should have just turned around, but back then, CHILDREN NEVER COUNTERMANDED AN ORDER BY AN ADULT, ESPECIALLY FROM A COACH...I never had him for any other class, or for gym...he was a pretty good guy as far as I knew...didnt say much...RIP Coach...

Watchin channel 8 and they have an oldies program on...the Diamonds are singing Little Darlin...I think they should retire...man, that was almost 60 years ago when Little Darlin came out...I do like that tune though...Pat Boone is MCing the show, and he's starting to age a mite...of course he's got to be about 70 something now...The McGuire sisters are also on the show, and they sound as good as they always have...unless they are lip syncing...and they all still look good too...of course the miracle of TV, can even make me look good....well, maybe not me, but other folks fer shure...I generally dont watch these shows, cause they are always hawking something...send em money, and they will send a peter paul and mary album...the one and oly time I joined 8, they were suppose to send something else, but wound up sending me a P P and Mary album...in fact they sent two of them...just what I wanted..."Puff tha majic dragon, lived by the sea..."

Coffee.....coffee should be black and hot...hot and black...no cream, no shugar (I know its spelled sugar, but I have obtained poetic license from the poetic licensing bureau...) and no fru fru...now, I dont mean that all thats bad...it may be good for YOU...but it is bad for me...I use to drink that International Cafe, or whatever instant coffee was in those tin cans...it was pretty good, and I wasnt a real coffee drinker back long time ago...Now, I am a REAL COFFEE DRINKER...and only real coffee will do...HOWSOMEEVER, I do like coffee flavored ice cream, just not ice cream flavored coffee...got it??? get it...Good...

well, ok...thought I had more to say, but apparently I have writers block...SOOOOO, keep the sun at your 6 and ride boldly ride...
your frien and bretheren, Billy Bob Algernon Fauntleroy Robert E Lee C Ephus...(whats in a name)

Oh, I know what I wanted to say, I watched them set a new jogging bicycle bridge across Cole Creek right where it flows into White Oak Bayou, at Tidwell and T C Jester...It was cool...had em about a 200 ton crane on rubber...thing had 3 sections of hydraulic boom out, and 4 more left in the boom...I took pictures...I havent downloaded them from my camera yet...but when I do, I will put one on the forum...the bridge was about 200 feet long maybe...

Plus, mah fangers hurt from pullin weeds...AH HATE PULLIN WEEDS...but, my beloved asked if I could help her pull them...so whilst she was at woik, I pulled them for her...you gotta know I love you, if I pull weeds for you, because, what did I say earlier???? AH HATE PULLIN WEEDS...and cold stale coffee...YUK...but do like OLD DOGS, CHILDREN AND WATERMELON WINE..."ah love, little baby ducks, old pickup trucks, slow moving trains, and rain..." member that tune by Don Williams?????

"MAY I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE?"

03/07/11 09:58 AM #3810

Beau Wann, Jr.

NO YOU MAY NOT!!!! Why should I give my attention to you, because I dont even have my attention...It must be at attention...or in detention...so I mention...an invention...for retention...of my attention...now an indention...
Good morrow mine waltripians...Monday Monday...I dont have a job, and Mondays are still Mondays...not as much Monday as before monday was...but still Monday...
I am, at this very moment, enjoying a FRESH HOT CUP O JOE...PLAIN, FRU FRULESS...CREAMLESS AND SUGARLESS...Well, except for mineown sweet self...

Me and the boys just back from our patrol around the hood...saw lots of boids...Ibisises...Cranes, Storks, Herons and Coots...sounds like a lawfirm...saw a Kingfisher also...and the resident Redtail hawks and Coopers hawks...

Had a real sparse Sunday attendance at our little country church in the city...bout 31 of the usual suspects...Saturday morn, we had 7 in attendance at Krogers in the Dairy dept...a quorum fer shure...why, thats almost a fourth of the congregation...we blessed the cheese and said a few halalujuias...wasnt no snake handlin or poison drinkin going on...just handlin of the donuts and drinking HOT BLACK COFFEE...Fresh too, I might add...well, as fresh as the idiot machine allows in the geedunk dept....

I ushered Sunday, and served communion, and everything that goes with usherin...cleaned up afterwards, and Diane counted the offering...had pizza and king kake for fellowship...but the real surprise was that in the Bulletin, there my name was as USHER, but with a STAR * or asterisk beside it...dont recall EVER having an asterisk by my name, cept at school..."****runs with sissors; doesnt play well with others...***" you know, the usual fare that goes with a scamp like me...SO, I asked my beloved, since she is in charge of the worship committee, which the ushers fall under, and she said that, I was the head usher...nobody told me!!!!! No fanfare, no fireworks, no ceremony, laurels and hardy handshakes...just BAM, YOURE NOW THE HEAD USHER...that gives me lots of power...I get to ring the Train Bell thats in the bell tower, which by the way, I cannot hear, even with me bionical ears...let someone else ring it, and went outside and still couldnt hear it...good thing it was a stationary train bell, and not been moving in my direction, I would just be a memory this morn...new meaning to DEAF AS A POST...

Ok, this will be short, cause it might not take anyway, and I have to get me ready and Cooper ready for his class today...gonna bake cookies for the front office at his school, they are soooo nice...Also too, my adopted grandaughter next door, Lucy, had her 16th birthday yesterday...parents had a BBQ and all the trimmings...she is such a gem...Gave DW and I hugs and kisses, like we really were her grandparents...she had some of her HS friends there also...they were playing games on the TV...all nice kids, and in the top 1 percent of their class...YOU COULDNT PAY ME TO BE 16 AGAIN...

Maybe we see yall tomorrow night at Fuddrolians...
Yore frien and bretheren, Ol Head Usher Harold signing off...

J,

Another senior moment for me. Milwee is south of Mangum Manor. But the photo is shooting south. Maybe you can edit those notes. Thank goodness Kay will be driving me home from Fudds tomorrow.

Is there a word for what I have?

"Best made plans often go astray....."

I was all set to be at fudds tomorrow. Then, Ferrell took a fall today and sprained her ankle. It is as big as a softball. Poor darling. So I will be home answering whenever she rings the little bell to fetch the ice pack or whatever. Be careful ... it is a jungle out there!

Me n Coop had school today...well, coop did, I just chaufered...coops kids gave him cards thanking him for heppin them read...very sweet...Coop will get a new group of 4 in 3 weeks...

Coop was acting strange today, even for him...couldnt get him to "load up" in the truck...He kept balking, and wouldnt move...had to put his front paws on the floor board and pick his big butt up and push him in the truck...I guess that would explain my back and all screaming at me..."WHAT WERE YOU THINKING, PICKING UP THAT DUMB BLONDE DOG..." and,  as his chauffer, well, a chauffer has to do what a chauffer has to do..."what we do here, stays here..."

I think I'll write my memoirs...that ought to be really exciting..."well, I cut the yard today, cleaned up dog poop and cat puke..." yeah, that ought to be pulitzer prize winning stuff fer shure...
I baked cookies today for the front office people at Coopers school...they are so nice...the people too...

I think I am gonna sleep in tomorrow, at least till 5 am...dont know what else I be doing tomorrow, probably take it easy....ah do know, AH AINT DOIN NO MORE STINKIN YARD WORK...at least till next weekend...highrise living is looking real good to me right now...door man, concierge service, limo...

Ok, guess I will sing off for now...Big Oliver has jumped in my lap...guess he wants a snack or something...YEOW, HE DOES WANT SOMETHING ALRIGHT, TO BITE ME...So never tell Big Ollie to "bite me", cause he will...

singing off...your frien and bretheren, ol asterisk ****Head Usher Harold*****

Bernd, I love to read and I think some of it has to do with books being as available as toys growing up. My Aunt Rowena was an avid reader and during the summers (my sister and I visited during the summers) would induldge us with great stories read aloud as well as trips to the BookBus (bookmobile) that came through Dickenson on a regular schedule. Do they still have bookmobiles? It was an adventure to see the big bus full of books. We would climb up the big stairs at the back end (they were big to us since we were about 5) and wander down the narrow aisle looking at the wall of books that awaited, full of adventure. We would get our selections stamped and a stern warning to return them promptly the next time the BookBus came to town. I still have books strewn about and find that my children and there children love to read as well. My son, Tim (the Utah kid) is writing two novels.  I recently witnessed again the joy that abounds with "words". My youngest granddaughter, Marianne, has learned to read and to recognize the language of signs and wonders... the alphabet game when traveling; road signs that give directions; names and all the things that one can now identify with words.

Your granddaughter is most fortunate to be loved in such a wonderful way... even in a foreign language...lol.

thank you once again for the music track;all those songs recall wonderfull memories,'georgia on my mind' swept me back to the far woods northwest of albany georgia;the millions of pine trees on the marine base and hunting reserve.beyond that;georgia pacific pines, for miles around.as many deep emotions passed through me i was swarmed by fortune;i was rewarded by the marine corps and recruited into security section,i had all the symtoms of love.mary and i talked every day;all the dreams were swirling and i forgot that i was a marine.long story but there was a time when music was like balm to my soul;dark days had come and the only solice for me was knowledge, with a view toward wisdom.some things i put myself through contained key elements that only when tempered with experience might amalgamate with that knowledge and bring some perspective.

thats why i like m.c.escher and his graffic highlight of higher mathmatics;as with music the artist uses vagarities of line and texture and has a mathmatical "rythm". this same symetry can be expressed through the fugue(in music as well as graffic art.i think this fugue is one of escher's best: asymetrical geometry so well conceived that it obtains unity, with its black and white simplicity masking the mathmatical skill to make this single- plane sketch appear to rotate on a' black/white' axis.a perception of sameness and difference in a moment.the" yin/yang" of the clasics or just the formulation of an optical illusion?this is mathmatics made painless beau;geometry.

ps.ive found that sorrow is so burdensome that sometime mental distraction goes beyond the barriers prescribed by intertainment alone.there is sorrow, there is tragedy;and there,as we reach this age and more loss comes more frequently, old wounds open in our exhaustion and we lament.as with these birds, each one of us has formed the background and outline of others, from our early days through waltrip and beyond.mabe harmony is too much to ask but the heart will seek it nonetheless.

Profound, Burge.

Barbara, thanks you so much for the fun "Madi Gra at Fudds" last night. My grandkids will surely enjoy the beads and coins and some King's Cake. You are so thoughtful of others and we appreciate you so much. It was great to see ya'll last night. I have missed being able to be at the Fudd's Gathering. I am sleepy and refreshed (is that possible).

Beau,  "Texas 'Southern' Pecan" is permeating my office. Even the Chinese are wondering what is happening. The smell blends nicely with the burned electrical motor fragrance in the lab. Forget the Veros Project and the fortune that awaits, we may be on to another great flavored coffee here!

Best get to the “work” thing…

Hugs to all, P

Howdy...Me and me dog Booger Red, just sitting around watching the News on the catastropic earthquake and tsunami in Japan, and now the impending nuke disaster of biblical proportion...some years back, due to Fat Boy and Little Man, Japan made it clear to us they wanted no visits from any Nuke ship to any of their ports...guess they werent really serious about not having nuclear powered things in their country...I was really surprised that they have 55 nuclear reactors, of which 5 are now in danger of going "ballistic", "nuclear ballistic" due to the earthquake and tsunami...should have stuck to their original plan, "NO NUKES"...

I did hear the "science guy" say that the Japanese were "experts" on nuclear power and knew what they were doing...Hmmm, doesnt sound like they know about "redundant safety systems" to me...which is what I would have, dealing with something so volatile...I would have so many layers of safety redundancy, but even at that, seems you cant imagine every possible scenario...so, having said that, I WOULDNT USE IT, UNLESS IT WAS GUARANTEED SAFE, NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS...sounds like the consequences far outweigh whatever good it offers, if there is one mistake...multiple mistakes...catastrophic...whirld altering mistakes...

Now Japan is saying that ther will be a "meltdown" ...great, just great...I sure do feel for those folks...Ike and Katrina, as bad as they were, is nothing compared to whats happening in Japan at this moment...Fortunately, the US of A is going to be there...two aircraft carriers, one already there, and the USS RONALD REAGAN in route...each carrier has numerous operating rooms, and several hundred bed hospitals on board, plus they can supply power to help light small towns etc...and the ever important communications with the rest of the whirld plus desalinating plants on board for thousands of gallons of clean drinking water a day, plus helos and helo pads, plus troops for SAR  (search and rescue), plus hot meals for 6000 plus people a day...the people of Japan,  will be in good hands for sure...the Marine troop ship, USS OKINAWA is there with about 5000 Marines to help with SAR (search and Rescue)...

Booger Red, is snoring...totally unconcerned about whats going on...well, he does have me to help protect him...dont know how much help I'd be to him, in an earthquake and tsunami...but I'd sure try...
ok, time to turn the clocks back or up or down or offf...I HATE DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME...WHY CANT THEY JUST LEAVE IT ALONE...if folks want an extra hour of light, GET UP AN EXTRA HOUR EARLIER...that extra hour of sunlight, burns up the crops...
Goodnight Mrs Simpson, where ever you are...
Your frien Beauregard and Booger Red

this catastrophy in japan is pivital to worldwide stability.its of ww2 proportions in physical damage and who knows what the fiscal and political landscape will look like during the recovery.that wave propogated all the way to the west coast,at 500 mph.at the reciprocating end of those pacific plates is the cascadia fault system;along and 30 miles inland of the coast from vancouver b.c. to northern california, this is a system apart from the san andreas system that comes out of the sea like  neptunes trident and peirces its way up the banks at daly city, just south of san fransisco.it looks like the long ridge that climbs the balcones fault in austin but not as steep.there will be 'crash courses' in monitoring every little little hiss on the seismic mosaic as we learn to predict them;the baseline is along the pacific plates that float on liquid metal and crash into one another with unparalleled force;no pettiness need apply in this sort of disaster.civilizations have been burried in one day by earthquakes and volcanos, pompei, perhaps the famed atlantis of which we know from plato disappeared from the face of the earth in one day.even an advanced civilization...

p.s.

the vidio and still pictures coming through from japan seem exponentially worse; its amazing.

Good morrow mine waltripians,
It is very hard to type this...oh, no bad news...just hard to type because of the impending storm headed our way...Big Ollie and Kate, the two heavy weight cats, are fighting for position in my lap, as is Peaches and Lacy on the back of my chair and neck...every now and then, they take a swipe at one another and hit me instead...Jack is at my feet...they are VERY NERVOUS about this storm...I was thinking it was unusual, but then on further reflection, we havent had a real rain storm with thunder and lightning in, I dont know when....I guess Ike was the last bad storm we had!!!!!

It is getting darker and darker out...so much for daylight savings time, eh what!!!!! We had planned to head  up to the ranch today, but decided against driving in the rain...besides there is nothing urgent pending, just work...and being in my advancing years, (hope they continue to advance for a long time) work is just not that important...use to be, I would get in a panic about starting a work project, and staying in that mode till it was complete...and being completely discombobulated if anything distracted me from my appointed rounds...got that from my parents...now it's just not that important...life goes on regardless of whether I start or finish a project or not...makes life a lot more enjoyable if you can stop putting so much pressure on yourself...I know I am probably not alone in my assessment of stating the obvious....of course what is obvious to some, can be oblivious to others...

looks like there has been a 2nd e3xplosion at a nuke plant in japan...I am still shocked that the Japanese people allowed the 55 nukes built in their country, considering the adamant stance against our nuke ships visiting their harbors...you think their politicians are much like ours????
Liars!!!!!
Well, got to try to get up and get some coffee to stave off strokes and alztheimers...yeah, thats what the expert scientists say, so I am happy to oblige...now if I can just get all these animals off me SO I CAN get some coffe...
Giving you fair warning, I'll be back...
your frien ME, and me dog Booger Red
