Paige Talley (Meek)

Looking toward the creek

Cozy by the fire (Maybe I should plug it in)

Mom trying to escape

As you can see, I am "working" from home today. I was supposed to go to Houston today to pickup my new glasses but it seems that I will be blurred for another few days. (does that sound "blonde" to you, too? hmmmmm). Anyway, I am not going out except to walk down the street to watch Mom trying to escape from Magnified.

I'm with Kay... Snow does makes things look beautiful. I remember living in Craig, Colorado. The ONLY nice thing about it was that it was covered with snow and you couldn't see it. Here in College Station the peril is not the cold OR the snow. It it 50,000 students driving on the icy streets, 40,000 of which have never driven a car before this year... need I say more???

Will the Super Bowl get frozen out? (Just joking, guys. I know that TVs don't freeze.)

Well I better get back to work... this is just like being at work - email, facebook, forum and then a little work. Hmmmmmmmm it is lunch time, OK... I think I will have some Wolf Brand Chili. Do they eat Chili in Chile?

Good morning fellow Waltripians, there is a very touching article in today's Chronicle. I think you will find that to be the case whether you're a dog lover or not. All you have to be is American. It is in Section B. There is a great picture on page B1 and the story is on page B2.

On December 6th U.S. Marine Pfc Colton Rusk was killed in combat in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. He was a handler for a bomb sniffing dog, Eli. Even after Pfc Rusk was fatally shot Eli stayed at his side, crawling on top of him to be his shield. Eli has been discharged and adopted by the Rusk family and is living in Orange Grove,TX. He is only the 3rd such adoption the U.S. Military has allowed.

Stay safe and warm,

Rich

I made chili last night and cornbread. Does that count? My stomach has lost it cast iron liner that it used to have. I could eat  and eat without a problem. Now there are times that all I seem to eat is yogurt. Of course, most of the time even though I know that I will pay for it, later, I dive in with abandon. Thank goodness for the Tums.

Chili and cornbread count for very sure...only reason I didnt fix cornbread with my chili, is I have a surplus crop of rice and orzo and barley...why you ask????....7 woids....COSTCO and for WTSHTF...I still have some Y2K spam left over from...Y2K...when else...????

Hey Paige, I love that snow plow...I'm still chuckling over that one...looks like my kind of plow for sure...man, put a briggs and strattin motor on that, and whooooosssssss.....

Hey RichLH, I read that story in the Houston Pravda today...sad and heartwarming at the same time.

Never got above freezing today...my toes are saying, "uh huh, thats right..." My beloved was snowed in at home today...or thats the way I'm telling it...HISD cancelled all activity...we did get out to meet my son, Quick Draw Magraw" for lunch at Angies...pickins were slim today...had Chicken Parmesan on a bed O noodles, fried okra and greenbeans...very tasty indeed...Billy even told me they got a good write up in the "food writer upper paper" whatever in the heck that is...
well, it is good...but a hole in the wall...

Feeding time at the Zoo...lions and tigers and bears are all pacing about and sighing huge sighs...and all round hollaring at us...

Warm thoughts to ya all...

We had four inches of ice removed from our driveway yesterday - the guy actually used a pick and a shovel to do it - he is young and really strong - a nice way for someone like him to make extra money during the winter.  Now it is snowing like crazy - so he'll probably be back after the snow is over to shovel that off.  At least you can walk in the snow!  Ice is too dangerous.  A friend of ours slipped and fell on Wednesday - broke his hip and wrist - he is 88 and thinks he's invinsible!  I didn't know it was supposed to snow this much today - they said possibly an inch and there's already 2 on the ground on top of all the ice that hasn't melted .  I have a funeral to go to at noon - I'll drive the 4-runner and put it in 4 wheel drive and should be fine.  Snow I can deal with on the road - ice keeps me home.  People up here are used to the ice and snow because we have a lot of it every winter, although I think this is the most we've had since I've lived here in 22 years!  It is beautiful when it first comes, but after over 2 months of it it gets a little tiring having to deal with it!

Take care everyone - be safe, stay in, and stay warm!

Wayne Lake

Name of Location: Dead Horse, Alaska aka Prudoe Bay, aka North Slope, just off the Beaufort Sea which is part of the Arctic Ocean

Approximate Camp Location: 70.5 degree Latitude North, 145 degree Longitude West

I changed my email address from wtlmeasure@aol.com to wtlgonefishin@aol.com on New Years Day and sent it to my distribution list to let everyone know I was hangin’ up my spurs wrt work for hire and try to do something more important in life, like volunteering and helping others through the Salvation Army (another story). However, on about the 6th of Jan, someone called (evidently not on my aol distribution list) and asked if I would go to Alaska to commission some equipment. In a weak moment, after discussing the pay rate and in hopes of seeing an Arctic fox, Polar Bear and the Northern Lights, I said yes and here I am and I have now been here for about two weeks. After all, I had been ‘practicing cold weather survival’ in Minneapolis over the holidays.

My work has taken me many different places around over the past 35 years or so, but this landscape is very different from all I have witnessed before. It is harsh, unforgiving and dangerous but extremely interesting also. When I got here about Jan 20th the sun had not peaked over the Southern horizon since sometime in November but on about Jan 23rd, everyone was outside around noon taking pictures of the big orange ball which was only fully visible for about 5-10 minutes. Now, it’s up for a couple of hours from about 11 am to 2 pm and every day, a few minutes more. The color spectrum in the Southern sky about an hour before dawn is incredible and the sunsets are better than those observed from the Key West or over Coronado Island from San Diego or any other place I’ve been. During the daylight hours, there is a blue hue over the ice/snow covered sea/land (the plant I’m working at is on a peninsula that sticks out into the Beaufort Sea) – it kinda reminds you of the scenes in the first Star Wars movie.

From the plant you can see an ‘ice road’, about 6 miles long constructed out over the sea where they roll a ‘land drilling rig’ and drill new oil wells during winter months. The ice roads are made by spraying fresh water from trucks to build up the ice thickness - they have to be out by about April or so or risk losing the rig. These are the real ‘ice road truckers’…………

From my bucket list, I have only seen the Arctic Fox (upclose from a truck). They say the polar bears are all offshore hunting seals in the winter but there are pictures of them in the control room of the plant taken last fall when they come to the onshore tundra near the plant to hunt smaller prey – there are bar cages (jailhouse 1” round bars) around the stairs to the plant that are called ‘polar bear bars’as they will eat you. No Northern Lights either, maybe the lights were visible once or twice but I was inside working or asleep. There are a few very hungry cariboo pawing through the snow for nubs to eat and some ravens flying around but other than those, most of the wildlife is simply two legged characters from all over trying to make an easy buck the hard way.

When I got here it was about -25F ambient and it dipped to -45F (-60F wind chill) last week for a day or two and currently about 0F, plus or minus a few degrees which feels ok after -45. All in all, it has been interesting but I look forward to getting back to Texas next week where I belong – probably not before Fudds though.

Wayne. what a great experience, although I can see where it would get old fast.

I hope you get to see a polar bear even if it is a low probability. What an amazing animal. Try to wear good running boots when you venture out and make sure you have someone with you who is slower. Remember you don't have to outrun the bear, just the person you're with.

And you can see why the natives so admired the raven, and put it in a prominent place on most of their art and on top of most totems. Not only can they survive Alaskan winters but look and sound regal doing it.

Wayne, what a fascinating job you have!  Although I am sure Teddy is right, it probably gets old after a while!  I hope you get to see your Polar Bear and if not, keep him on your bucket list.  What a wonderful opportunity to experience all of that before you retire!  I'll quit complaining about my 5 inches of ice on my driveway and an additional 5 1/2 inches of snow that came down today after hearing about -45.  The coldest it's ever gotten here was -25 a few years back.  Be safe and enjoy your adventure!

Burge, I love the music Jackie has on the website too, especially the home page. Just one more example of the wonderful gift she has given us all. Sometime when I'm doing other work on my PC I'll just minimize the WHS 64 site and listen to the good old tunes while I work. Other times I find that I get too into the music to concentrate on anything else and have to turn it off. But it sure does bring back a lot of great memories!

Beau Wann, Jr.

Goot eefenink mine wobblytripians...
Hey Teddie, you ought to have my computer...I turn on my own music, and minimize it, and then get into the 64 website...first time I did that, I wondered why I was hearing two songs...seems it plays mine and Jackies...not to worry though, I just turn mine off...duh!!!! another blustery day in the hood...and cold too...I'd make a good weatherman wouldnt I...

Coop and I kept our appointment with Coops kids...he sure has an amazing affect on the little ones, shucks on just about everyone, big or liitle...Rachael comes running across the library and just hugs Coop...she settles down next to him...he lays on his side and every now and then raises his big ol head up and licks her on the face, which produces a grin and a giggle from her...she just sits and reads and strokes his massive blonde body, making the fur fly, literally...think I'm gonna change his name to dandelion...thats what it's like just touching him, fur just scatters to the four winds...and I brush him within an inch of his life almost everyday...with one of those "furminators", and two other regular brushes...

Jesus is the largest of the three kids...when he comes out, he is all business like, quiet and shy, but still cant suppress a grin when he and coop connect...I dont recall seeing the way he sits down from anyone...one minute he is standing, then he crosses his calves together and sinks to the floor...with legs crossed under him, I mean...he sits on his crossed calves and feet...were I ever to be found in that position, you might as well bury me as I sit, cause to get to that position, I'd have to be dead...I have never, NEVER, been able to sit crosslegged in my life, from young youte to now, old youte...

Jose, the prettiest boy I have ever seen...My wife tells me it is common among male hispanic children...(she has been teaching kids for 32 years, so I guess she should know)...his eyes just sparkle, and laugh...with some good luck, and a good agent, he could be a model or an actor when he grows up...he sets his book filled back pack down and slides on the floor to coopers side...Ol coop does not disappoint...coop just licks his face and hair and I swear, that ol boy grins from ear to ear...well of course he does, he's a dog, thats what they do, happy or not...Jose' asked me if I liked books..."I love em" was my reply...he said the same thing...fine lad he...

All three kids can read pretty well, stumbling on a word now and again...but generally they spell the word, and sound it out, and with little or no help from me, and can figure the word out...I tell em from time to time the meaning of the word, and they usually know what it means, except for today...the word COOTIES came up in a book...Jose' asked me what that was...I just said "germs", and he was satisfied...I wasnt, of course...I told Diane the word stumbled over, and she laughed and told me what and where it came from...LICE...seems that the WWI soldiers had a real bad problem with LICE...and named them aptly, COOTIES...they even started a 'COOTIE ORGANIZATION" wearing red socks to identify the members...

Now, you know everything you could have POSSIBLY never wanted to know on COOTIES....remember the game "Cootie"???? Was that what a giant lice looked like, a COOTIE????

Well, anyway, me and coop had a productive and enjoyable day...I paid him for his work, some oscar mayer weiners...he seems satisfied with his pay...hope he doesnt go out on strike with the football players...now there's a group that really needs to strike...I tried watching the stupor bowl this year...havent watched it in ten years or more...too much hype, not enough substance....at least for me...I really use to love football, and so looked forward to fall...I watched every college and pro game I could...it seems to have lost something along the way...

Well, we all grow up and out and change with the years I suppose...I'm not much of a sports fan of any sport...do like to ride my MC and play my guitar...speaking of which, I saw some of the Antiques Roadshow, and some guy brought in an 1890 Martin Guitar, in excellent shape...worth about 8 grand...WOW...would like to play it, see how it sounds...

Ol Oliver is in my lap, kneading his claws in my leg and purring up a storm...the purring I can use, no need for the kneading of claws, I allus say...guess I will sign off for now youse guys...
Keep the sun at your six and ride boldly ride...

Chopped up a pineapple this AM. About half way into it, I tell Ferrell, "Hey, I think this is a bad one, cause it smells funny." She comes over and sez," You're cutting up the pineapple on the onion chopping board. No wonder it smells weird." I felt really dumb. I think I was just concentrating on not cutting off a finger.

Heard the old poem, "The Cremation of Sam McGee" on the radio in song form. I never thought I could memorize that poem, but hearing it in a song makes me think I could. Sam was from Tennessee and froze to death on his way to the gold fields. Before he died he asked his friend to cremate him so he could be warm again. I guess all of us Southerners might feel the same way. Well I think Texas Winter is almost over, maybe just one more blow through...sure hope so.

If all goes as planned, I will be at the March Fudd get together! Looking forward to it.

more snow is likely up here tomorrow;it was 27 this morning;spent my morning in shreveport la. at the va dentist.after seven years of crowns and bridges and unfinished work, they tell me my teeth are caput...long story.i watched a really good movie on tv and it kinda took the edge off my disapointment."on the beach"with  ava gardener, gregeory peck, fred astair and anthony perkins.made in 1959, it is still powerful.it was an artful iteration of the concept just being articulated by the scientific community, that of 'mutual assured destruction.the plot follows the natural progression of techno war fatigue and the failure at its weakest link,"accidental war", and developes the charactors as they become the last people left on the earth as the radiation envelopes them on the coast of austrialia.mabe too serious a movie for some but to me it is better than most of the flash-bang stuff made in holywood post"rocky -1". anyway,id sure like to own the austin healey 3000 that ava gardener drove in "on the beach"

two beautiful modes of transportation-i love them both:

Burge you have excellent taste in transportation. I always liked that Austin Healy even back in those days. The Arabian brings to mind another great movie "The Wind and the Lion". it starred Sean Connery and Candace Bergen. Not near as heavy as On The Beach. In the area of equine transport, what do you think of The Morgan all American transport?

It was good to see the folks that turned out at Fuddrucker's last night. Those of you who didn't make were missed. Hope you'll be there next month. It's always good to see old and new friends. You know it's harder for people to talk about you if you're there. So come on out.

If you remember a while back that I mentioned my sister and I had contributed the funds to establish a prayer and meditation orchard at Oaks Presbyterian Church. The orchard will fruit trees. The planting of the trees got postponed from last week due to bad weather to this Saturday, the 12th, at 9:00. Sure would like to  see a lot of folks turn out for the start. If you're inclined bring your shovel and help with the planting. Planting is not a requirement we would just love to have you participate. This is for the Oak Forest Community as well as Oaks Presbyterian. Diane Wann told me last night that information about the orchard and the planting have been posted on Facebook and people that have read it with no connection to the neighborhood or church have replied that they are coming to help out because they think it is such a unique idea. So put it on your calendar on come on out. it's not complicated!

Keep on dancing,

Good hibernatin morrow mine wobblyfuddruckians...
Small crowd last night, but still a good one, as per usual...
Methinks I am going into hibernation, at least for the day...took tweedle dee and tweedle dog out on patrol, per they're request...when it's time for them to go out, they both go and sit by and on my boots...then when I try to put them on,  I get a series of head butts and snout rubbing on my legs, which makes it real hard to put my boots on...after much pushing and shoving and "hey, get back youse pups, or we aint going nowhere..." or woids to that effect...finally we're out the door...

So off we go, me with mine winter wardrobe on plus my columbo trench coat and resistol hat, and the boys in their fur coats...man, did we ever get wet...the boys were soaked...broke out the doggie towels, and a hair dryer...first time I have tried a dryer...boys flinched at first, but warmed up to the idear, pun intended...got em dried off and both in their respective nappin spots...Jack is pretty sharp, he is curled up on the couch upstairs next to big Oliver, both of em are purring...krazy kritters...

Yes, nice transportation those Austin H's and the Arabians...my sisty ugler raises WARM BLOODS, horses...dont remember what those kind are, even though I have been educated on them...oh well, cant remember everything...try as I might...

I am about to run out of REAL GRITS, the 20 minute grits...went to K rogers and could only find the 3 minute quick grits and the instant grits...now, I know I bought my grits at K rogers on 43rd, because I dont shop at any other store...so I had to buy them there...could not find them last time we went...got the manager looking, and he said they dont carry them anymore, just instant grits...do I have to say it???? you know whats coming next dont you!!!!!
"WHY, NO SELF RESPECTIN SOUTHNER USES INSTANT GRITS...AH TAKE PRAHDE IN MY GRITS..."
(My Cousin Vinny...)

I emailed K rogers, and gave em that very same line,  and after a couple a days, I heard back...they said that the store will order some, just for me...and the lady that emailed said that she got a chuckle because she thought the very same thing, (the line in the My Cousin Vinny movie), and said, "great minds think alot"...so gotta check back with K rogers on 43rd...

Why ah kaint imagine not havin regular grits...lorda mighty, whats this whirld coming to...

Glad everyone is enjoying the web music - if you have any requests, please let me know and I'll add to playlist.

Br-r-r-r-r-r it's cold!!!  As soon as I warm up I'll post Fudd pictures!

No seriously, I'll post soon.  I'm having new flooring (tile) installed at home (kitchen/breakfast area/den/bathroom) this week and so everything is a mess.  Furniture all over the place and I have to run back and forth at lunch time to check on work and let dogs out.  Plus no internet, TV, etc. had to disconnect my Comcast.  So there's no working on website at night, but hopefully soon.  Flooring is looking great -- grouting today, maybe by Saturday I'll be back to almost normal.

Or if I get a chance at work, I'll try to download pics (shhhhh don't tell my boss).  We did have a smaller group this time -- but still a lot of fun no matter the size.  BroBeau took pictures too, so have plenty of pics!

Stay warm and Happy Valentine's Day on Monday.

Burge and BroBeau - love all the pictures you posted.

Good afternoon and Happy Valentine's Day fellow Waltripians. I hope you enjoyed the beautiful weekend and the beautiful warm week we're due to have. For those of you who live in the frosty Northern Climes just live vicariously through our 70 degree days we're due to have. You to should be enjoying this kind of weather around June 15th. Winter is peaking since Spring Training is about to start in pro baseball. I wish our team here in Houston were more professional. Oh well it's still a great time to go out and watch baseball games.

For those of you who know of some of Liz's antics as far as behavior is concerned will be glad to know that she is signed up to go to obedience class starting March 10th. Beau, she is going to the PetsMart and same instructor that Coop went to.

The Prayer and Meditation orchard got planted at Oaks Presbyterian Church Saturday. They had a nice turn out of folks. I was impressed it was well organized and they really got after it. I had to leave about 11:00 and they had all 40 trees planted . I think they were one short. The olive tree had not come in. Anyway they had most of the mulch down and were watering them in. I'll keep you advised on the progress.

Keep on Dancing,

Rich Lh

P.S. Stay tuned you'll see a notice soon about the upcoming Whirld Problem Solving and Burger Evaluation Committee meeting.

Beau, I hope the dog trainer at PetSmart has nerves of steel. I resentlly made the acquaintance of Ms. Liz. Liz and the trainer should have Richard obedient-ish by April.

Happy Valentines to all you fine folks. I have had a wonderful Valentines... There is nothing to spark a smile like flowers, cards and candy all tied up with hugs and loves.

Not much has changed in the lives and times of my clan. There is good, real good and not so good. It all seems to be part of the cycle that families get to go through. My grandson has voiced that he has access to the world again, which I presume means that he has internet and iphone access. Remember the transistor radio... ah technology!

Thanks for your prayers and thoughts... Gotta go

Goot eefenink, mine wobblytripians,
Been busy with mine domestic chores...yuk...spent 5 hours on the yard today, intermingled with 3 loads of clothes, wash...dry...fold and put away...my back is just about done in...had to take a little white pain pill...yes!!!! I use to be against drugs, but now I embrace them...

Yall watch the westminster dog show????? One of Burges breeds almost won...the WDS called me, and wanted me to bring Cooper and Catahoula Jack, to show the whirld what real dogs looked like...I told em they would require a couch so the whirld could see just what they WERE really like...both boys would win best in show for sho...

I was so sure they were going to pick a poodle or other non dog dog...after viewing it for many years, methinks the dogs chosen are pals of pals of pals of the good ol boys of the dog whirld...how could anyone chose a pekinese or poodle over a golden retriever or lab or great dane...?????anyone anyone????

Big oliver has harked up hairballs bigger than a pekinese...or chihuahua...now, dont get me wrong, all dogs are ok, but some are just more ok than others, in my humble opinion...a golden retriever has NEVER won...now how, and why, in 135 years, has a golden retriever never been chosen...clear cut case of discrimination...golden retrieverism, for sure...

the 19th of Feb is the 66th year since we invaded Iwo Jima...lost almost 7 thousand kia and 20 thousand wia...the 23rd of Feb is the day the Marines raised the flag on Mt Suribachi...twice...the second raising is of course the most famous photograph ever...the island was not deemed secured until sometime in May...

I used a 5 prism lens to get this picture at the Iwo Jima Memorial in DC.

Thank you, Mr. Brown... my grandson was responsible for the pix at Christmas. Nothing like little ones to bring a smile to a Nana's face.

The adventures down on the creek near the "Big School" abound. Seems that either something is living in my attic or drops on the roof from the large tree shading my cottage every morining just about 6:43 a.m.  For the last few days a large thudd (sounds like someone jumping down on the roof) is evident. Used to be that it was just the racoons living under the bathtub. I'm not sure who (what) this new visitation might be. There is good news though. I have not heard any nawing in the night.

I am headed for more adventure as this weather beckons a road trip... don't know the directions 'cause it is a mystery adventure. Hmmmm... what does one pack for a mystery?

Lloyd, do they grow lavender up by ya'll somewhere? I seem to recall (ok, thats a "memory laugh") that there are fields of lavender somewhere in the hill country. Anyone have some ideas about this.

Ok... they pay me to work here, so I best put in an illusion of "working"...

See ya'll

Good mornin' fellow Waltripians, great day here in paradise, Houston in case you haven't figured it out.

Beau, it is really worth going to the Iwo Jima Memorial and Arlington at night when the moon is full. That bright moonlight glistening off those marble headstones is very, very dramatic and moving. when you're standing at the IJ Memorial you get an incredible view of the Mall. Again the drama is magnified at night, bathed in moonlight, in my opinion. A friend of mine who was in the Bush Administration (41) treated my wife and me to a limousine tour of the Washington sighs at night with strawberries and Champagne. That was a delightful evening.

Paige, you can find a field of lavender at the Becker Vineyards in Fredricksburg. I think there are other fields in that area. I think they have a lavender Festival there, not sure when

PPPP of CCCS...things that go bump in the night are rather unsettling sometimes...around here, things that go bump in the night are generally followed by a string of expletive deleteds, as I trip over a cat or dog or squeeky dog toy or the dresser or my boots that mysteriously somehow got left in the middle of the floor...and that in turn gets the critter community stirred up and hanging around in the kitchen, just in case an apparition of Ol Mr. Starkist and Mr Oscar Mayer should rear their delicious selves...

The meds I take on occasion, produce numerous side effects, of which all are unpleasant at best, especially at night...pair of narnia psychofreniac is one of them...I keep hearing things and seeing things move that shouldnt be moving...like the dresser moving back and forth along the wall, or a door opening and closing...the dirty clothes trying to get out of the hamper...well, that one is probably not a halucination...sometimes the dirty clothes march themselves to the washer....

sometimes I hear people talking...I wake DW up and ask her what she said, and the classic "who's on first" takes place..."What"??? she says..."who are you talking to"..."you" says I..."you were talking to me"I contend..."no I wasnt" she replys, "I was sound asleep and then abruptly thrust into this insane conversation with a madman in the middle of the night...no one is talking to you, and if you expect me to talk to you tomorrow, you had better go to sleep"..."and no more pain killers for you", she adds as she turns over and fluffs up her pillows by socking them...

I get up, grumbling about a grumpy wife, that woke me up yaking at me, I try to put on a pair of house slippers, only succeeding when I extract a squeeky rubber chicken that CJ has put there for safe keeping...making it squeek, trying not to make it squeek, which produces more grumpy grumblings from the other side of the bed...jeese, what a grouch...

I stumble over the things that have moved around the house, letting fly with a string of expletive deleteds, knowing full well that when I get to the Kitchen, for whatever, there, 6 cats and two dogs are waiting, hoping to get lucky in the food dept...when they dont get what they want, THEY start grumbling and griping at me, and some even resort to violence by headbutting me in the legs and elsewhere... then into the library where I turn on the boob tube and channel surf till my eyes hurt, and go blind...then back to bed, of course stumbling all the way back because the TV has made me go blind, waking up the little woman again...'WILL YOU PLEASE GO TO SLEEP" says Ol grumpy woman...when and if I do get to sleep, I dream that I am dreaming...so, as you can see, I take meds as a last resort...plus they are monitored very carefully by my beloved...

I would like to visit DC again and see the sight you just described, Rich LH...but, got to see it in the daylight, and that was good too...Arlington is almost as quiet as the proverbial library...save for the volley of fire from honor guards, and muted haunting sound of taps from a distant bugler...got to see the tomb of the UNKNOWN SOLDIER, and changing of the guard...very impressive sight...

Ok, got to sign off for now...if youre looking for lavender fields, go on line and just type in lavender fields texas, and you should get a plethora of sites...
your friend and brother...olbeauwannkanobie...grump extrodinaire...
