hey wayne, none of your pics are coming through.i use the download(little yellow box at top left of above menu)if you have pics stored on your computer,it should cue a download from the 'browse ' section.

im a little confused about what constitutes a "fact";i came down on breitbart about the sherrod incident;then as he admitted, the rest of the tape was published.i still go to breitbart for links and stories.i dont listen to the msm; obfuscation is the by-word of the main stream media.cut through the blame;you wont find the truth there, facts are good but taken out of context;you might as well guess.issues are usefull especially if they tug the heartstrings.as the country goes broke and we witness the demolition of the constitution;blame anyone but your naive self.

as for beaus'comment on questioning;i even question god,not as to some dispute on existance but as job would and did.i dont put faith in political parties or the actons of a tzar.and kay,you may not have voted for a socialist government but you got one.wake up.

Morning Yall,

Well on the flea issue I listened to the Good Morning Sat. show, dr. says if animals itch all over indicates allergy-behine ears stomach, etc., not just leg feet area (this area is an indication of arthritis, or foreign object in the area or BOREDOM, if not engaged enough by owner, and I think anxiety - my little terrier mix doesn't like being left on her own w/o me)
I've never bathed any cat I've owned, but I used Revolution on my cat's fleas and it is w/o. The dogs also got a flea shot from Doc. and for hot spot issues, antibiotics. 3 animals costs me $400. and I've been back several times since then. No way around it - if you love em, you have to protect em, the Vet's know this, my vet treated one symptom and I mentioned Tinker has a continual cough and honk, he feels is allergy. She still coughs in this manner, also forgot to fill her thyroid pills, another trip to Bryan. The cat, Captain, is always demanding to be fed, 4-6 times a day and is extremely skinny. Vet thinks it is thyroid as well, we are giving pills, weight is somewhat better, but still demands to eat 4-6 times a day. I had asked if this could be tapeworm, he did not test for this, only thyroid. Does anyone have a cats that always wants to eat? Honestly, after these three go, I will seriously think about the expense of being responsible for another.

The Beef Cattle Seminar was a 3 day venture to Bryan. Was very informative, with some BS thrown in as general info that I didn't feel necessary. I hoped for more hands on, not theatre in the round. They fed you well though. Now to buy some cattle!

Do like that pic, Burge! (There's a wolf in my bed?)

beau, you are much too modest;just dont bury your head in the sand as a demonstration of your tollerence.i will place it straight on the line: those who believe that we have a constitutional government are evidently blind to the activist posture of the modern progressive movement.one judge overturned 7,000,000 california voters on the ban on same sex marriage;the fact that he is a homosexual ,would not recuse himself from the case and makes a joke of legislative action and referendum directly voted on by "we the people";seems to not bother the liberal mind.marriage ie,the family does not matter.excutive order is on the way like a flood, congress no longer matters.the law is what the regulations say, legislated or not.its already here, its already happening.dont like what rush limbo says?dont worry;he will be sensored.the fairness doctrine will see to that.how dare anyone speak out against censorship of these "ultra conservatives"(anything right of the line is branded ultra conservative) as richard should learn by paying attention.this is not your fathers democratic party, the loyal opposition;like this is a game to them.this is no game to the socialist;its break america like they broke england.we are 3 trillion in debt,to the peoples republic of china and the world bank.think you have a say in it?dream on.no one has a say in it but that handfull of socialists.remember now;or mabe you didnt know that a chief staffer reassured the media that "we are not marxists;we are socialists(a distintion without a difference)pol pot claimed that he was a true socialist.what do you people think you are playing with.in true form, anyone branded as right wing will be demonised and persecuted, censorship, then the restriction of political speach will be removed from the 1st ammendment;it will tke the form of prefuctionary legislation to insure 'fairness'.no one will read the bill and it will go through because we all know that "its the right thing to do". they cause desent, they are dangerous inciters of anti government "terror".bill ayers wanted to see the 50,000,000 americans killed but had to settle on bombing the ny police station and the pentagon.it wasnt the main stream media who uncovered the association with barry et al with ayers and the support of the 'new party'(formally the democratic socialist party"). ayers typifies the far left;ready to destroy but without a clue as to what to do next.this is all old school and because of the control set into motion by the "old left"it forms a type of 'education',a dumbing down and a forcing down.we now have law precedented  on a false case(roe vs wade)one that the signatory herself has confessed was a set-up case that she no longer beleives in.but that dosnt matter to our judges.that it was a bogus case conspired to overturn a precedent that recognised that a fetus has a right to live,in spite of what the mother may "feel".the last remnant of the eugenic movement that led to the holocaust.eugenics was a progressive idea.if you dont beleive it;do the researsh like i did and it will be clear in your mind who lies.to the "progressive"a lie is just another tool,to be used for conveinence;we have already witnessed the staunch denial of facts in the empeachment of clinton.just as soon lie as take a breath.for them, anything is justifiable.fine excuse for ideology, and one that has continued for 5,000 years.china has tried communism about every thousand years;it never has and never will work.there is no utopia;there is neither a cornucopia as marx predicted or a possiility of proletariat rule.pol pot cancelled that dream by murdering all the best of his people.

wait and see.

now that i have grabbed the '3rd rail' of policy containment(roe vs wade) i will shake off the title of ultra-conservative or "kook"because i am neither, but thats the tatoo."come now,let us reason together".i am reproached because i disagree with a policy that has taken 50,000,000 fetuses to the dumpster.i have been warned that talking about this topic will label me.i pulled up next to a bobtail truck in houston one day that was marked "medical waste".i sighed at the thought of this garbage guy making his round to clinics, picking up our shame and possible indictment.

its simple really;is this freedom,or is it bondage? people turn their heads;oh.this is too sensitive or this is not your business, its much too hard to face and way too dangerous for anyone to talk about.why?is it fear, well then you might as well give it up now.catch the morning show and watch the clowns.

Hey, Lloyd,

See whether Ferrell still has the e-Mail I sent her with all those photos of old Houston sites that Wayne has been trying to get posted on the Message Forum.  She told me she got them, and I've already deleted it, so maybe she saved them.  If nothing else, she could just forward that e-Mail on to Burgess.  Charles probably still has the e-Mail saved as his old flame, Bonnie Robinson, was in one of the photos.

Hey Lloyd what a wonderful trip - and what a picture - if we could all just sit on "top" of the world - how amazing and what a gorgeous view.

I'm having a great time with the kids ----------- all of you have a good time at Fudd's on Tuesday - we've had a change of plans and so I won't be there ---- please do me a favor and someone take some pictures for the web.  Scotty, hopefully you and Lola will be there and you can take some pics ---- anyway, will miss everyone but will see you next month!

We keep Betty Sherman in our prayers in the death of her mother.

Also remember the benefit for Skeeter's daughter, Lindsey Apostolo, this Saturday (August 14) at 4:00 p.m. (Announcements on homepage)

FAITH CREATES MIRACLES. We need your help to create a miracle for LINDSEY APOSTOLO. She has been diagnosed with terminal cervical cancer.

A benefit is being held August 14, 2010 - 4:00 p.m.

 Cahill’s on Durham

903 Durham Drive - Houston, TX  77007

To assist with her expenses,as well as to promote Cervical Cancer Awareness. If you cannot attend, please send your love, support and donation to Leon (Skeeter) Apostolo.  See his address on his profile - or contact me.

Have a good week ---

Oh, Wayne, sorry your pictures did not show -- you cannot copy and paste from a website -- looks like you were in your AOL account.  You have to save pictures on your computer and then in the body of your message go to the "image button" which as Burgess stated is the yellow icon at top and to the right of Source --- it will then ask you to browse -- go to where you have pictures stored and download one by one --- width should be no more than 500 so change if it shows more and the height will automatically change.  Or send the source where you saw these pictures and I'll download.  Thanks anyway for trying --- and I did delete the boxes where pictures should have shown because it was taking up blank space.

Hugs

J

I've been out about eight months. Hard to believe. I find it also hard to believe that the class of 1964 has allowed Bevis and Butthead to take over what surely must have been a well intended site. These two have been stroking one another in public now for a very long time. They are equally boring, ridiculously taking themselves seriously, and in need of their own site where they can stroke one another 24/7, and not dominate the gallery where old friends come together to reminisce, or bring to date the trials tribulations and or joys of their lives. Time to take back the board, and move ahead. I'll check back in a few months and see if sincere caring and emotional prosperity has been rejuvenated.

Good luck and godspeed.

Gary

ive known gary since first grade;have had plenty of good to say about the searches he has made.i believe that in his heart he trys to be for the little guy,the unprotected and we stood together in some real tough times with post traumatic stress.i express my opinions with emotion and loss.

ive looked at both sides of the coin, been around people on the left and on the right, the mystic spacemen and the hard and cold.real hard and real cold.this has been my experience and to be called ridiculus has a sting but ive had greater folly.i bring up issues that nobody wants to talk about because ive been hurt by them.we all have great memories of the past;gary and marcie were my best friends, and i remeber those days with depth.

what did i hear from an old buddy;sorry about your heart attacks, you gonna recover from the surgery?......the bond of friendship that would withstand the babtism of fire and we would have given our lives for each other.the acid of ideology has burned those bonds.ive gone from pride to a sad and dying old man.nothing can hurt me for long, well some things like my missing child or knowing that all has been in vain.

i love so many of the kids i remember from waltrip,i was hesitant to reach out,as gary was,and i breached the thoughts of having such a negative experience;havin longed, like everybody else, to touch these friends.gary was excited about the contact too, when he blew up at beau i tried to step between them, gary is a bull and i had seen it before.he believes that by defendeding beau was an act of disloyalty.i know the emotions or should i say i feel the emotions, rich said it,we all want the same things.ive broken it down with brothers on the street, homeless, dying.johnny radley living in a wheelchair at the va.i think and i feel, deeply.but i wont be lyed to.some of us are still searching,i would like to see with clear eyes,i would love to lay all falsehood aside;to have a clear understanding of knowledge and form some defence against deception.we have all been fooled and i guess i have been the bigger fool.

Lloyd, I would guess there is probably some connection to the store owners. My family originally came to this country in Virginia, migrated to Alabama and eventually to Texas. Just a little historical tidbit you can file away. The farmer (can't remember the name at the moment) whose farm was the center the center of the first battle of the war at Manassas move his family to get out of the danger. He moved to Appomattox! Good to see that you made it to the top of the world! Looks like a great view from there.

Kay, if the thyroid meds don't turn your cat around get the vet to check for a tapeworm. Cats get them from ingesting fleas when they bite at them. Tell tale sign is your cat will leave things that look like grains of rice where they sit. Those are sluffed off tape worm cells. It's pretty easy to treat these days. You just apply a topical med between their shoulder blades.

DOD, I had the pleasure of having a large hawk perch in one of my trees yesterday morning. It was really cool to get to watch it from just a few feet away. I'm not proficient enough in IDing them to know if it was a red tail, marsh or whatever kind of hawk other than magnificent.

For those of you following the saga of Liz, I have finally identified her breed. She is definitely a Rushin Setter. She faithfully rushes to the kitchen and sets until she gets fed. She continues to grow and is very healthy. Quite a change from  three months ago.

Burge I don't think this country is underwater. I think the current situation could use a lot of improvement. I think you will see pretty signifigant change in November. I'm not aware of anyone trying to censor Rush Limbaugh or any of the other broadcaster of that mind set. If you like to listen him, have at it. I don't need his condesending attitude nor his bombastic ego but that's just me. I have faith in the American people and in our governmental  process. I think we will come through this rough patch. Then we can tackle the next set of problems. Am I naiveve, maybe but I don't think so.

I read a pretty funny joke that is too close to home. A guy received an email from his good buddy telling him that he knows for sure that he is getting older. He saw a young woman of aout 21 going into a restaurant that was absolutely drop dead gorgeous. He said the distressing part was that he found himself wondering, "I wonder what her mother looks like?"

Kay Watters '65 (Greene)

Hey Rich,

I've gone to the last 4 places the cat lies down - no rice, I've checked his tail area several times the last two weeks - nothing there, although it would certainly make sense as he ate two frogs last night as well as all the extra meals I give, and left their heads on the kitchen floor for me. Who would know!

I'm glad we have this forum so we can just put it out to all pet owners for suggestions.

My Tinker (dog) the one that's been coughing and scratching, has increased once again since her prednizone (steroid) pills are gone. Decided to try something different.....kept her out for 2 hrs, early this morn. no coughing scratching outside environment...yea, no grass allergies! Brought her in 1 room w/o carpet, none of the above, next, my bedroom...oops, she activated, took out all throw down carpets, and realized I had left the original carpet under the bed and I think I will need to remove it. I'm "feeling" that it is the glue backing and/or fibers behind all these visits, shots, pills, etc. I HOPE! She's been fine last 8 hrs though. So one of my problems has been solved...on to the care repair tomorrow, of course, tomorrow being Fudd's day, I'll probably need to miss as I'll have to leave it. Maybe this should be a discussion to you privately, not sure it it applies to the general audience here on the Forum. I do think we are tired of running our pets to the Vet for everything.

Had to laugh at the "Rushin Setter" label, Liz certainly has her way with you!

Richard Meek '65

Kay, you are right. I can't tell you how much I've spent on vet care over the past few years. Not to mention all the time burned up. I guess I'm just glad I could offer my little pals that care. I just hope Liz stays healthy for a lot of years. Glad you solved your problem with Tinker. Sorry you  won't be at Fudd's tomorrow night.

Hey Gary, pretty cheap shot! You can take a lot of pride in your posting.

Beau Wann, Jr.

This is about the third time I have changed this response to garys arrogant comments. I guess I wont get a Christmas card from you again this year! Are you mad, because you paid good money to send me a Fruitcake, and now you hate me and wish you hadnt???? I can send it back to you, it's still in the freezer! Or are there enough fruitcakes up in the Ozarks!!!!

Once again, gary, you have gotten it wrong. But then, you interpret everything as you think it relates to you! How self centered and self righteous and immature is your charge, and ultimatum, that you would be checking up on us in a couple of months, to see if "bevis and butthead" are still allowed by the class of 64, to "take over what surely must have been a well intentioned site"!
How old are you gare, 64, 65??? Same as me???? And you still think as you do, like we were back in elementary school! Amazing!!!!

After all these years, absolutely incredible, is your childish audacity! And, on further reflection, I will not allow your insecure ego to dictate to me, what I will and wont do! If you had actually read any of the entries, you would have seen, that most all were about what you seemed to imagine they werent, "caring, reminising, and the trials and tribulations" of all concerned. But then, everything in your mind, is all about YOU and no one else! What YOU like, what YOU dont like, what pleases YOU! Like most of those in our class, you have had my respect and admiration, untill last year, upon your childish, and unfounded  outburst directed at me personally!

That you dont like me, has no bearing on my life at all! Whether founded upon fact or fiction, I have been liked and disliked by better people than you! Unlike you, I have said nothing on the forum, derogatory to anyone in our class! I will admit to being very passionate about what I believe, and sometimes forget that not everyone believes as I do, but i do not apologize for my beliefs or my passion! I will, in the future, not offer my opinion on what I see as right and wrong in the whirld of politics! I am always civil, that is unless of course, an unprovoked attack on my person!  So, if you dont think you can get on the forum and be civil, then, by all means, DONT get on the forum!!! But to intimate, that the forum isnt big enough for the both of us, is ludicrous!!!  I dont want the forum to become a battleground, but if you level another attack at me, or anyone else in our class, I will throw it right back at you!

On an event of more importance than me or gary, I do have one  item to share with youall...Lance Corporal Shane Robert Martin USMC, was layed to rest today at Houston National Cemetery! He was killed during combat operations, July 29th, 2010 in Afghanistan. We, the PGR, stood at attention for a few hours today, flags high and waving in what little and welcome breeze we received, to bid farewell to a fallen hero! Looked around at my brothers and sisters, and my, we have aged. Charles, Huey pilot in Nam, Mark another Marine etc...Some now held up by a cane on oneside, and the flag on the other!!! Dont know how many more of these I can go to! Really hurts my heart to see the grieving families! What a fine young man, Marine, Husband, Son, brother, grandson, cousin and friend Shane was! His Obit is in todays paper! Saw my friend Maria there today! She lost her Marine son in 07 methinks! I'm sure she remembers the month, day, hour and minute! She goes to every Marine funeral she can to lend support to the grieving families, as do most of the Gold Star Moms! I dont know how they can continue to go, and relive their own sons funerals! My hat is off to them, and my heart aches for them!

Happy trails to you...until we meet again
Keep the sun at your 6 and ride boldly ride...

Coop, Jack, Big Oliver, and all the rest of the menagerie and me...signing off...but not for good...

Elvis has left the building...

I don't know the history of this tiff and I'm not going back and read two years worth of postings to find out. Everybody has a load to carry by this stage in life. So here's the deal:

Beau and Burge you don't drop off or go anywhere. Just keep participating and being yourselves!

Gary, grow up. You want to participate in the Forum. . .act like a civilized person and be polite!

That's it, simple, be adults, be civilized, be polite and be yourselves! Everybody got it?

hey rich,i dont care for rush limbo for the same reasons you sited and i dont listen to him any more, used to ;but he is bombastic.most people dont have an opinion or care much one way or another,if they do its a moderate stand.change is enevitable, radical change is destructive.there are always things going on behind the scenes, perhaps naive is not the word and i appologize;my outlook is jaded by my experience with insurgency and what happens when the radical has power.left or right.i admit my bias,i just cant trust the theory of utopia or the axioms of machiavelli or "the will to power".our system has proven to be the best for the most people;when activists start tampering with the foundation of that system it gets my attention.george washington set the cornerstone;we have no emperor.there are millions of ordinary people who see it so.

Burge, no apology necessary. We're all colored by our life experiences mixed with our personalities. I think I'm a fairly astute observed of personalities and trends. I've learned over the years that you have watch the good trends as well as the bad trends or you become too focused on the negative stuff. At least I do. Hope you'll feel up to joining us soon for a Fudd Tuesday.

Your pooches look like pretty sturdy dogs. What do they weigh?

Beau, good luck to you and Coop tonight at school. Hope you can make it to Fudd's even if it is late. Does Coop plan to pursue his PHD after completing his current course? Based on the pics you've posted of him, it seems he'd be a natural for a PHD in Sofaology or maybe he could attend Oscar Mayer U. and focus on Wienerology. I really think you should reconsider having Cat Dragged Chicken and Dog Licked Roast on your diner menu. Those would be unique menu items. You won't see anything like that at Denny's or IHOP.

More "Civil War"stories...

Richard the man you referred to was none other than Mr. Mclean the owner of the house where Grant and Lee signed the papers. As you said, he was involved early in the war at Mannasas and then moved "west" to avoid the fracas. When Grant's aide was looking for a suitable place to sign the papers, Mclean was one of the few people out wandering around the small town.

Nearby is the final resting place of several soldiers killed in the last battle before Lee saw the futility of their situation. One man had enlisted just a few hours after the declaration of war and survived the duration only to die in the last battle.

I got a certificate for my great=grandfather' service from the Appomattox Gift Shop. History is neat  huh?

Here I am pickin' and grinnin' with Chuck and his dog Jasmine at the Blue Ridge Music Center. Playin' "Ol' Joe Clark" or something like that.

Lloyd, history is pretty interesting. If memory serves me correctly, the McLean farm house still stands on the Manassas battle field, which is now a national park. they have a pretty nifty little diorama there so you can get a clear picture of how the battle took place.

Great picture of you playing. I couldn't tell. What instrument is the dog playing?
