We need prayers from as many people as possible tonight for Lynn Prewit. I just received a call from Pat and he is seriously ill. He had a surgical procedure this past week for a prostate and bladder problem he’s been fighting for several months and apparently he now has a bacteria spreading through his body to his other organs. I am 99 percent sure he’s in Memorial Hermann at Memorial City, but Pat was very upset and I am hard of hearing. She asked that I request anyone that knows them to pray for him, please. She said their son is on his way from Atlanta and she’s still trying to contact their daughter who lives in Dallas and is out of town.

Please join us in praying for them.

I just talked to Pat tonight and thanks to all of the prayers Lynn is doing better. They have an infectious disease Dr that specializes in these types of cases and he looked at Lynn this morning and told her that all signs are that his body is responding well to the strong antibiotics.

Lynn has been having bad headaches since the surgery and short term that is the biggest problem. He has a long way to go, but she wants to thank everyone for their prayers and thoughts and asked me to let you all know that the prayers are working.

She hasn’t slept much and stayed up there last night and didn’t sleep a wink. Their son Lance is here now and able to help her so hoping she will get some sleep tonight.

Thank you all and let’s keep the Prewit’s in our thoughts and prayers please.

Thanks David, when I look at your picture on your profile, of just a few years ago, I always get a big smile on my face. Keep in touch old friend and Hava Tampa Jewel buddy!

Thanks for the kind thought.

Tampa Jewels remind me of the look on your face when you came out of Garden Oaks Pharmacy and found your truck half way to the lobby of Garden Oaks Theater. We both had a few laughs after you recovered from your initial shock.

Dave

ps: Please give Fran a hug for me.

Gooooood Morning Chappell Hill...More prayers for Lynn this phyne morning.  The weather here couldnt be any finer unless of course I saw Lynn and Pat driving up the hill.  Must gonna be a fine day today, I woke up singing Handels Messiah.  Dont know what that's all about, but I'll take it.  I believe I could have written the lyrics to that tune, "hallelujah" .  Except for a few German woids scattered about, I believe "hallelujah" is the onliest (east texas for only) woid !

48 degrees this fyne morning somewhere around 5 AM. The building supplies are here for enlarging the daince hall.  Got here at 8.  Suppose to start putting it together next monday.  The experts, not me.  I'm guessing it will be ready to start moving stuff around and getting it all set about the middle of April.  Should be ready for our first "sock hop"  mid may and beyond.  Ought to be fun!  Kay, come on over, nothing says we cant practyze on daincin and "sock hoppin" before the O fficial day.  All yall can come also too.

Gotta sing off for now and sit with my guard dogs, mopsey and flopsey,  as they are barking at the truck driver.  Dixie barks at anything that moves and some things that dont.  I guess she's hallucinating some of the time. She does eat a lot of grass, so that must be it.

Keep the sun at your six and ride boldly ride...

I went by and saw Lynn today and he is continuing to make positive progress. I took along our old friend and hunting buddy Nicky who is staying with us while undergoing treatment at MD Anderson. We had a good visit and luckily as a bonus also got to see Pat and their son Lance.

Lynn is expected to be released in the next day or two to a rehab facility where he will continue to recover while he regains his strength.

Thank you all for your continued prayers for Lynn and others who are dealing with significant health issues.

Thanks for the update TJ,  very good news.  Was going to try to make it in this week to see Lynn, but  having trucks in and out making deliveries for the new addition to the daince hall.  Construction crew showed up at 9 this morning.  Foreman said they might be through by Friday, all except the concrete, that will be next week.  Suppose to have a load of crushed kaleechee (sp) driveway stone delivered sometime this week or next. Hope it shows up this week before the 85,000 pound concrete trucks arrive. I need to reenforce the bridge with the stone.

Last couple of days have been so beautiful.  Had 40 this morning.  Stars last night were puttin on a show. Man, there must be a gabillion zillion stars hanging about.  Not much else to report from the hill in Chappell Hill, Tx 77426, Just wonderful weather. Got lots of plants in the ground including 3 tomato bushes. One of em is about to dominoe with maters (east texas for tomatoes) .  Havent started our big garden yet, but will after the daince hall is complete. I know, it will be late, but down here, anytime is a good time for a garden.

All's well here, pups are snoozing on the front porch, Annie-bob is asleep on the screened in porch, and Lacy-bob is curled up in a chair in the pink room.  All this snoozing going on, I might just take a snooze myownself....Nah, I promised my beloved I'd put in a bulb bed this year. Got the spot picked out and almost ready to finish.  I never promised her a rose garden, but made  one for her this year anyway!

All her roses are doing well and blooming, even the LADY BANKS.  It is an antique climbing thornless rose. Puts out small bright yellow blooms right about this t ime of year, and it hasnt disappointed us.  It is small, but will put out canes up to 50 60 feet long.  If youre ever up this way, and go through Chappell Hill, Tx 77426, down to the left of the crossroads, at 2447 and old chappell hill road, there are lots of the Lady Banks, and have probably been there for at least 30 years, so they are in full regailia.

We have lots of bluebonnets this year, but not as many as I thought we'd have. Lots of Paint brushes though.  Coons have been emptying the bird feeders when they can climb up the poles.  Also been emptying the corn feeder. Well, that's ok, that's why I put the stuff out, so the critters can enjoy a good meal once in a while.  Havent checked my game camera, cause last couple of times I took the SD card out and checked the pictures, there were over 3000 on the card. Seems it takes a picture at every little breeze.  Guess I'll have to take it down and see what the problem is.

Isnt that like stuff!  I was going to haul stuff by hand in the wagon, and had a flat on one tire and the others were low. So, had to tump it upside down, take the wheels off and put slime in them, put em back together and air em up.  bout an hours worth of work. Well, if youre a young man, 30 minutes.  I'm just not in that much of a hurry anymore. Some of the tires on the hose reels, and I have 4 of them, are low or flat, gonna have to slime them as welll and the hand truck.  At least I dont have to buy new wheels! ! !

Hmmm, ah hear her highness Dixie-Belle summoning me.  Hope all are getting to enjoy this weather. If anyone is up this a way, stop in and set on the porch with me.  All are welcome.

Keep the sun at your six and ride boldly ride...

Your frien and chatty charlie...Ol Beauwann Kanobie Cephus Jr, esq

Pat Brantley (Ross)

I have been catching up on the posts.  First, I will send $ for raffle tickets.  I know where I would put the seats.  Second, beau you are as entertaining as always.  You tackle more projects than I could ever think up and you do them with all the pains, and probably more, than I have ever had.

Second, I am so sorry about Lyn.  I know this has been so painful for him and I also know what Pat is going through.  I am praying for the entire family.  A friend once explained his theory about us believing that we  missed the opportunity to pray for a friend during a crisis.  He said that God is the creator of time and was eternal so He accepted our prayers and they were never wasted.

My husband has been on a medical obstacle course for the last six weeks.  Before he could even get to the appointment Henny had spent considerable time setting up, he had to have a fusion of his neck.  Don’t understand how someone who has always done white collar types of jobs has the body of someone who has done nothing but heavy physical labor.  Came through first surgery okay but it was done in Houston.  Something happened and we had to rush back to Houston.  They took him back into surgery and found infection.  The infectious disease doctor was then involved in his care.  We got back home okay but by then I was having trouble walking.  The dizziness continued to get worse and brought on nausea.  I wound up in the emergency room because one of my doctors saw me and got on the phone with the nearest er.  I spent 6 hours there before they were fairly sure I wasn’t having a stroke.  It is probably Miniers disease because I responded well to the medicine there.  I kept telling them I was better and I had a basketball game to watch on tv.  I only missed about 10 minutes of the game.  More importantly I didn’t have a stroke.  Ron is on the mend and ready to get back to Houston to see the heart doctor.  Onward and ??? Into the breach.  Half a league.  Half a league onward.

I want to see if I can play shuffle board anymore.  Looking forward to seeing everyone at Beau and Diane’s Ice House.  Have a peaceful Easter.

Looking forward to the Spring kick-off at Beau and Dianes and may make the other as well.  Hasn't this been quite the winter for us all....Most of me enjoyed it, small part is screaming ...it is Spring.  Our wildflowers are coming out slowly this year.  The birds try to make a nest on my screened back porch, and this year, I had a crazy one.  Kept coming back, failing to make a nest  and came into my bedroom (off the porch) took me a while to get him or her out, had to cover the mirrors w/sheets, but it finally made it sucessfully out, and never came back to the porch again...I'm so glad!

Pat, goodness you and yours are running on the medical thing...hope to see you at Beau's.  The Waans are the most congenial host and hostess, except when they want us to move off our chairs..

Beau, ask Diane what she wants me to bring.  I'm good for wine, deviled eggs, catered foods, Diane's request....lol.  Ready to roll,....ha, ha, will probably sit and eat and enjoy.  Bue do look forward to all having a good time.  Last year was envigorating...Beau kept everyone on their toes.

Beau Wann, Jr.

Kay, you are too kind.  Not quite ready to dole out requests just yet.  Construction is about 3/4 complete. Of course they've torn up the ball field.        Back in my day, doing construction work, ie ironwork, and lineman duties, we took special consideration of not tearing up our surroundings, especially someone elses property.   Not so of the  MO rons of todays work force.   Absolutely clueless.    I'd like to spank em all and send em home with a bad deportment on their records, that's what.

Goodness Pat, yall have been through the proverbial ringer.     Have a friend and his wife that have lived in Hawaii almost all their lives.  Mauli is Hawaiian, and Dan is Blackfoot indian from the Dakotas, he and I served in the Navy together.   Been healthy for as long as I've known them, cept the last couple of years.  Mauli was an instructor in outrigger paddling and also a participant in the competition most of her life, so fit was she.

She has had a heart attack among other things, and Dan has had two strokes.   I sort of know what causes heart attacks, but what causes strokes?    I know blood clots do, but what causes blood clots?   How do we combat against strokes?     My dad had a stroke, but he drank lots of alcohol and a 2 or 3 pack of luckies or camels a day. That's not what killed him, renal failure did, whatever that was.  Of course as closed mouth as my family is and as much as they kept me out of the loop, he could have been abducted by aliens for all I know.

One of the things kept from me, was that he was totally blind in one eye since childhood. Didnt know that till after he died.  Mom had a miscarriage when I was 14 I think, but found that out after she had passed away.  No info from my family at all on anything.   I guess if the house was on fire, maybe they would have let me know,    but I wouldnt hold my breath.

I drank some back in the day, but never smoked, cept 2nd hand smoke from our house for 40 years.  Started sucking in 2nd hand smoke on the day I was born even though I was born with double pneumonia and asthma.  I'm surprised I've lived this long.   I guess if youre going to have a stroke, it just sneaks up on you no matter what your regime is.

Diane keeps us current on vitamins and we eat very little fried food, hardly any fat, only cheese from the dairy area, and try to stay away from sugar. The last two are the hardest.   Love sweets, and blue cheese!  Still we try to do all in moderation and some none at all.   I have noticed that lots of older folks start having trouble when they quit doing.   I'd like to veg out most days, but dont.  I've got to keep busy, one way or tother. (backwoods for "the other").   I heard some time ago the expression, "I'd rather wear out than rust out".  Which makes sense to me.

My mom and dad were famous for buying something and then not using it, so it wouldnt wear out or break, because, "you know, they dont make things like they use to".....Everthing they treated like a case of eggs, eventually broke and was irreperable and they never got to enjoy whatever it was they spent good money on. Go figure!

I almost bought into that eroneous line of thinking, but thank goodness I didnt. I've found that things break quicker when not used. Oh well, I was really just thinking about health issues and how to avoid the pitfalls.  Once again, instead of telling you the time, I've built a watch.

Pat, I hope you and your husband recover and have no more problems, as well as the rest of our families.
The construction crew has arrived.  I opened the gate before first light just in case they were going to be early, and of course they werent.  Said they would be through today. then concrete next week, then that has to cure for 21 days, then look out, "katy bar the door"....wonder where that saying came from! ! !

So looking forward to seeing everyone that makes it to the spring fling, and then the "mexican luau"  here on the hill.  think maybe we'll have mexican food and BBQ, some kind of food anyhoo!  And it will be good!  How about spaghetti samiches?   Yum!  I love spaghetti and meatballs, dontchew?

ok, time to deplane...keep the sun at your six and ride boldly ride...

your frien and resident nut,  OL Beauwannkanobie, cephus Jr, T Magillicutty, esq
