So sorry to hear about Mrs. Kahla's husband, please keep Mrs. Kahla and family in your prayers.

Harold Kahla
1937-2015
With binoculars and camera in hand, Harold Wayne Kahla was scouting white tail deer when he suffered a massive stroke and died. He leaves behind his wife of fifty-five years Julia (Judy) Kahla, a son Byron Kahla, two grandchildren Julia Nicole Kahla and Paden Wade Kahla, two brothers, Everett Kahla and Mike Kahla, a sister in law, Gradene Hamman, and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
Hunting was not his only hobby. He loved fishing, gardening, bird watching, golfing, playing with two dachshunds (Daisy and Lily) and dancing – even winning a jitterbug championship while he was attending Lamar University. Two hobbies he never mastered. When he was fifty, he tried to water ski on one ski. The level of Lake Limestone went down significantly because he drank so much water! Snow skiing was somewhat better and he got to know medical staff in Telluride quite well.
Known to many as Don Quixote, he was always chasing windmills and saw many which he called projects. His favorite being United Galvanizing, Inc. After several disappointments, he and Judy's parents opened this coatings business in 1971. He is especially proud of his staff and called them "the best staff anyone could have."
This country boy from High Island High School (1955) and the University of Houston (1961) was loved by all he met, especially Judy whom he met on a blind date during a brief stint at Baylor University. She frequently overlooked his grammar.
Harold was born August 18, 1937, in Beaumont, Texas, and died on November 8, in El Squato, Texas. Visitation will be 2-3pm and A Celebration of Life will occur 3pm on Saturday, November 14 , 20015 at Klein Funeral Home in Tomball.
The family encourages a donation to Special Olympics in lieu of flowers.
