Jackie:

Here are a couple of my favorite scriptures that I speak over myself and my family and now I will be speaking over you. Jeremiah 32:27; “Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?" and Psalm 103:1-5; "Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s." Draw all your strength from Him and know you will be in my prayers.

God Bless you,

To Jackie and others undergoing treatment for cancer:

I am often reminded of a song written by Mark Hall of the Christian Contemporary Group:  Casting Crowns.  This song was released in Jaunary of 2006 with powerful lyrics and praise.  Many of you remember it as "Praise You In This Storm."  It was written for a little girl named Erin Browning whom the band met with prior to her death. The song was written to comfort her grieving parents who knew that some day, they would have to say good bye to her.  But their faith in the Lord was unaltered.  They knew that the outcome was entirely in the Lord's Hands.

They lyrics in the chorus goes like this:

And I'll praise You in this storm
And I will lift my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
And every tear I've cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm

I remember when
I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry to you
And you raised me up again
My strength is almost gone
How can I carry on
If I can't find You

But as the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain
"I'm with you"
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away

Over time, I have known some in my family, my co workers, my friends, my neighbors, people in my church, casual strangers and even myself who have been afflicted by cancer.  Many of them remained optimistic through it all.  Durwood is a church member and a World War 2 Vetran of age 96.  He was diagnosed with melanoma but still attends worship and knows that God is always there in spite of it all.  He is such an inspiration to everyone.

We must always remember a line from this song that The Lord has promised:

"I'm With You"

I Can do all things through Christ which strengtheth me.   Phillipians 4:13

"If ever there is a tomorrow when we're not together...
There is something you must always remember.
You are braver than you believe, Stronger than you seem,
and smarter than you think...
But the most important thing is, even if we are apart,
I'll always be with you..."   And you with me....

Good News from Susan Howard yesterday evening (9/29/15) - and we can certainly sympathize with Bryon and his time in Rehab, but at least this is progress!  Prayers and more prayers for Bryon -

"They removed the drain from Bryon's abscess this morning. He will most likely be moved to Rehab tomorrow.  He will be there 30+ days because of his Picc Line and the kind of antibiotics he has to be on.  Even though he knew he would go to Rehab, he is not a happy camper about the length of time. Hugs Susan"

All I can say is "Wow!!" for the tremendous outpouring of concern, thoughts, prayers and love that has come from my wonderful classmates!  It has been a wild ride around the Roses house for the past few weeks!  Bryon is in rehab as of this afternoon.  He will be there for at least a month because he has had MRSA and is equipped with a picc line and a very strong antibiotic that he has to have for 42 days.  He had an abscess in the incision he had after his back surgery and that is where the MRSA came about.  Jackie has been so fantastic in posting updates as I have sent them to her. I don't know what I would do without her!!  He still looks like a raccoon from his fall on the driveway, along with a knot on his head, but the bruises are finally beginning to fade.  At this point I believe I can say things are beginning to get better.

So many of you have sent me private messages as well as posting on the forum and I can't tell you how much all of those messages helped to bring to me some peace in this time of stress and trouble.  We have an exceptional group that supports, cares, prays, and lifts up each other in times of need.  Some beautiful quotations have been posted on the Forum, also, which are so inspirational and comforting.  May God bless you and keep each of you!

And good news continues - Mary Vaughan is home from her surgery!

From Mary - 10/1/15

"I came home late yesterday afternoon, my sister Peggy is with me and my caregiver for the next couple of weeks.  I am pretty self-sufficient and hard for me  to be a patient, I got up first this morning, made her coffee, fed the cats and read the paper.  I feel good except for the pain when I stand or get out of bed.

Everything went extremely well, I had no issues with my lungs, my overall health going into this surgery was probably the best it has been for years. I believe that made a tremendous difference.  I will go back for a check up on November 3rd.  Except for being sore and tired I feel great.  I am sitting on the patio this morning having orange juice while Peggy is having coffee.  Looking forward to some restful days.

I will be out of the office for a month, although I will get a computer next week and will be able to work from home, which will keep me from using all my sick days and vacation.

Thank you for all your prayers and thoughts during the surgery and my recovery."

Looks like a fun project Butch. A lot of work, but the big reward comes at the end when you get to drive that beauty and enjoy it. And the new engine looks serious.

Hey Butch - - What, no Y Block for that Ford??  LoL!!  That's a neat project, you'll have  fun and lots of headaches too with it.  The 351 is a good motor and will really make it go as I'm sure you're aware.  What transmission?, C-4?  Post some pictures as you go.

I'm sure that some of you remember Helen Sanders from Black Jr. Hi. She was my home room teacher and also taught RWS among other classes. She was one of the most caring teachers I ever had. Yesterday, was her 90th birthday. Bradley Seals was also in her classes and knew her from St. Stephens. He came over from Austin and we visited her at her current home, Legend Oaks Skilled Nursing center. She is confined to a wheelchair as her legs no longer function and she has trouble using her right arm. However, her mind is still very sharp and she still has her great sense of humor. We had a great visit with her and her daughter, Arlene. We enjoyed remembering a great time now long past. Now that we have finally located her, we intend to visit her more often.
