Beau Wann, Jr.

Hey Sharon, guess we're gonna have to get some water wings, or sub, or maybe a gigantic umbrella. It is storming right now as I type this...Guess we'd better start getting into shape, swimming in place, start a fitness program and eat fitness type of food......

Hey BroBeau.

So wonderful that Jimmie Lee came for a visit.  She told me she hoped to swing by.  Short visit, but I know you were glad to see her.  Barbara and I are coming your way one day!!!!

Sure hope you and Diane can make it to Fudd's tomorrow night!!  With this crazy weather you may have to come by boat!  It has just started raining in the Galleria area, hope it doesn't get as bad as they were reporting on the radio this morning.  I haven't been on the internet to see the latest weather, need to check it out.

Hugs,  J

I drove to Chappell Hill to visit Beau and Diane last Wednesday.  I had come down from Melissa for a funeral in Hockley (Charles' uncle).  Boy, what beautiful country out that way.  I took 1488 from 45 over to Hockley and then onto 290 to The Wann's lovely estate.  What do you figure I find Beau doing?  You're right!  He and Diane  were cleaning up after that storm that had passed through.  He goes back to the doctor on the 14th for a follow-up to his surgery.  Maybe they can pound into his hard head that he should not be doing so much physical labor that causes his back pain.  Just saying...............

As I drove up the Wann's driveway, a deer crossed my path.  Their home is lovely and on a fantastic piece of land.  I remember driving trips through that area when I was young and always thinking, I'd really like to live in the Brenham area some day.  Glad Beau and Diane found their piece of beauty out there.

To see my new music video please go to YouTube then videos then search Michele Hilsher-Momma.  Although it is a little sad it is a very pretty song and good video.  I know many of you who have experienced any type of dementia in your parents will relate.  Thanks so much,  Love, Michele

I enjoyed the music video, Michelle.  Jimmie lee I am glad you got to scold beau first hand.  I think it is difficult for our generation to sit when there is work to be done, but sometimes it is necessary.  Old bones don't heal quickly.  I don't know why my body is so old when my heart still thinks we're young.

I second that demotion ! ! !   Didnt make it to fudds...just as we were about to leave, it started pouring, and then Diane tripped and fell on both knees...she now has ice on her knees and I have heat on my back...

Rain rain rain...what happened to our drought drought drought???

Yup,  my heart is young, mind is scrambled, my ears are deef, but I'm still looking through the same eyes, blurry though they may be, as I did when I was 16 ! ! !  So the girls still look pretty...the fireflies still flashing their light of love...Not sure I'd want to be 16 in the here and now!

Yall be glad to know, I've just been laying around...mostly....ok, ever now and again, I get up and do stuff...but mostly just, you know, fluffy stuff ! ! !

Howsomever, andd aint there always a howsomever, My back still hurts like it did before !  Hurts to breathe, hurts especially to cough or sneeze....or move...other than that, I'm swell! ! !

Thought I was gonna have to change a flat tar on the old ford...went flatter n a fritter!  I changed a tire on it last week, and yet another flat, and these tars only have 10K miles on em !   So I put about 50 pounds of air in er with my handy dandy air compressor, then I raced to discount tire at brenham, which is avbout 14 miles, give or take.   By the time I got there, she was flatter n a fritter again, but I made it!

The tars were Goodyear, which I've never liked ever from long time ago, but got such a good price I had to get em.   Well, as they say, if seems too good to be true, it probably is!   I did get allowed what I paid for them, and now am driving on B F Goodrich, a much better tire!  The truck came with Michelins, but after 4 years, they wore out, but only had 35K miles on em....tire mileage warranties arent worth the paper their printed on!

Oh well, dont know why I'm tellin yall this, but, when I get on the forum, it's just like carrying on a conversation...AT FUDDS, which is where we're not but wanted to be!   Oh well, there's always next time...

BroBeau,

We missed y'all last night but certainly understand.  It's a long drive and don't need to drive it in the rain!  Plus you and Diane both need to rest.  So sorry she had a fall --- I'm sure she's really sore today but hopefully better.  We'll see you in June!

Just posted the pics from last night - great time and the Corvette boys were there.  Beautiful cars and '60 teenagers behind the wheels.  You go guys!

Hugs, J

WOW...Lynn, that there is a humdinger...absolutely beautiful...I'd get one, cept I cant get  one! ! ! Our corvette is settin on a rain soaked mountain...If I did get one, it would have to have wings and an inboard/outdrive and be water tight...

Man,  that is so cool...I can tell you love it from that beautiful grin youre sportin...man, wish I'd been there to see it in person, as well as everyone else in person. Ok, Ive been saying for months, maybe June we can get to fudds...

Hey, it's finally raining here....DUH ! ! ! !  It has done nothing b ut rain here for the last gazillion years...OMG

(Oh My Gosh)

here's a picture of Dianes 85 corvette we had back in 89 to 92 methinks.  We're settin by the Pedernales river up around the johnson ranch. We prowled a lot of texas in that red rascal, it was a lot of fun.  I had a hard time gettin in and out of it back then, no way I could today.  But it was fun...

Way to come out of the garage Lynn.  Congats Jim & Lynn nice rides!!!

Pretty cool that our class could stage its own Corvette show. Counting Lynn Prewit, Jim Taylor, Larry York, and Chuck Dent (up in Omaha), that's at least four classmates that have Vettes, and I'll bet there are a few more. The rest of us wish we had one.

And I just love looking at every one of them!

But I haven't learned the secret of climbing in and out of them yet. I have gotten into Prewit's twice and with the help of gravity getting in isn't bad, but getting out is not pretty.

And hang in there with all of the rain Beau, I understand that Noah is on the way with the boat. Be my luck I'll get the seat next to the pair of rattlesnakes.

Lynn will probably get mad at me for doing it, but here is my favorite picture of his car with beautiful Pat and granddaughter Sloan smiling from the cockpit!

Howdy myne fyne waltripynes...just a short note...yeah? When have I ever posted anything short?  Well, got our perfunctory and prescribed storm early this morn...got an eench (east texas for inch) of rain!  Lots O thunder and lightning, huffin and puffin...

got most of the hill mowed Frahday!  Wreaked havoc with the bunny and field mouse community..."watership down"...I suppose.  hate like heck to disturb the little critter community, but, cant be hepped...

Decided to stop taking all drugs cept asprin via alka seltzer...codiene makes me itch, and tramedal (sp) is one hateful drug for me...makes me dopey, confused,  stupider than I already am, and just weirder than skaditch.  Read up on it, and instead of masking the pain, it works on the brain somehow to get a person to think that the pain is  gone! All it ever has done for me is nada and bad!

Took a couple of alka seltzer yesterday and pain not too bad..then when I get busy I almost forget about it, cept for when I make a sudden wrong turn or jolt...then "katy bar the door"....(wonder where that saying came from)

Night time is the worst though, nothing seems to help...yet!  Well, we will continue to woik on that.

Poor Diane, has to hear me bitch and moan and groan day and night...I try to keep it to a minimum, but sometimes it  just gets the better of me, as pain is sometimes want to do !

To add to Dianes woes, her mom who is 86, fell in her driveway last week, and broke her upper left arm just below the shoulder joint.   Too swollen to put in a cast, so got a tight sling. They put her on tramedal (sp), and it did the same to her that it did to me...confused, etc, almost like youve had a stroke...they got her off that junk and onto Tylenol 3, which I have, and just quit using, and she is doing better.   Diane has been going to work, stopping and helping her mom and dad to and from, and then coming home and helping me.

I try to have everything done before she gets home, so all she has to do is eat supper and rest and relax!
sometimes I have it all done, and sometimes not, but not for lack of trying!

But aside from all the above, we're doing ok.  Watch the lightning bugs at night, and the bunnies running to and fro,  hawks flying about, little doey eyed deah scampering hither and  yon!  Try to do errands together, sure makes that chore more palatable. Share coffee and pastry and lunches etc...

Sometimes I wonder ifin we havent done  a wrong thing, this house in the country !  This is something we talked about even before we were married, so it was a mutual dream I suppose. I kind of wonder how much I influenced her!

I'm 70, or will be in a few weeks, and my beloved is 60.    My health has sure deteriorated over the last 5 years...maybe just a temporary thing!  Seems like it's one thing then the next,  But, we're not getting any youngerr thats for sure!  Not a complaint, just an observation.

I know how much a lot of our classmates have suffered over the years, so I'm deffinetly not complaining, just yakin I suppose.

Saw one of my old riding buddies I went with on the ROLLING THUNDER ride to DC.  He sure looked old...er...he is only 57!   Roughneck in the oilfield... it shows! ! ! Still riding his harley, in fact a new one...beautiful those! ! !

They need to have a class in highschool about growing older ! Or did they, and I missed it ?

Ok, this was just a short note, and here I've yakked on and on about...getting old!   I still wish nothing but the best for all our classmates, whatever the best that can be found I suppose ! ! ! Sometimes when you're up to your ass in alligators, it's hard to remember you just came in to drain the swamp ! !

Keep the sun at your six, (hopefully it will shine again) and ride boldly ride...
Your frien and classmate in law...olbeauwannkanobie...

Larry, the deal is the more housework I do, the more I can drive the car.  I try to accumulate work hours daily.  She runs a hard bargain.

Hey Lynn, This is Ed Nimtz (remember me?). Apparently my wife went to Waltrip with your wife, and "here we are". This social media has allowed me to see your Corvette. What a beauty! Big Bechtel bucks at work.

How is everyone in the Hill Country and Houston area with all the flooding?  Eileen Doyle's father and brother, Terry, had to be rescued from the 2nd floor of their home in Wimberly - cars flooded and house totally flooded and furniture gone.  Jan Field Drawe has posted photos on FB of the water in Boerne area.  Praying that everyone we know is safe.

Our Hudson family reunion was this past weekend at 7-A Guest Ranch in Wimberley, where it's been held since I was very young. I didn't go this year, but one of my brothers was visiting me here, and we were looking for any news we could find on the flooding. Finally we got an email from one of our cousins. The owners had been watching the weather and evacuated them to the high school. All the little cabins they had been in were washed away. We are so sad for all the damage to property and lives but so grateful our family members are safe.

Oh so thankful to hear everyone is safe. So sad about 7A, lots of memories there. George and I were at his brother's houseboat on Canyon Lake. We road out the first wave of storms Saturday. Then moved to hotel in San Marcos where half the cars got flooded, as well as rooms. We had the last parking space available that wound up a blessing, as was in back and higher than close to I 35. We watched Blackhawks rescue people all morning. Stay safe everybody!!!

WHAT A STORM!!!!! See link below.

I was without power at 10:00 last night but it came back shortly after.  However, cable is still out which means no TV, internet or phone.  Storm with crashing lightning was scary, especially since I didn’t know what was going on without TV.   At 2:00 a.m. I had a lake in my backyard and praying it didn’t come into the den and in the front, water was up driveway.  By 3:00 a.m. rain stopped enough to let the water recede, thank goodness.  I had talked earlier in the evening to my families that live in Austin, Round Rock and Pflugerville.  Also Johnny Sheffield in New Ulm, he sent me a picture of his "Lake" in front of his house.  It was bad, so knew what we were in for!

I got to work this morning around 10:00 a.m. --- a lot of stalled and abandoned cars along the route.  It’s getting dark again and if it starts raining, I’m heading home.

Hope everyone survived without any extensive flooding or damage.  It’s heartbreaking those that lost their lives.

Here’s our news  see attached link --- Death toll rises to at least 10 in Texas, Oklahoma floods; thousands displaced http://a.msn.com/04/en-us/BBkgcQJ?ocid=se

Hugs, J

Susan Howard (Bowman)

Thank goodness those of you who have posted are safe along with your families.  We are fine in Sun City, but the lightning, wind and rain late yesterday and last night was a nightmare. I have never been in such a storm! Our TV has a dish and it faded in and out quite a bit, but was a total blackout for only a short while and we never lost power.  Jackie, I can imagine how scary that was for you and for anyone else living alone, especially if you lost power and didn't know what was going on.  There was a tornado reported near the Georgetown airport late in the afternoon, but I do not believe it touched down.  I heard from Johnny in the afternoon telling us to be safe.  His area was in danger, too!  My son lives in Katy and tried to go into work downtown early this morning, but was turned back by the closed freeways and flooding in downtown. Schools there were closed today and he and his wife and my grandson spent the day at home.  It was nice to see the sun shine today!  Felt like a gift!   I hope the rain will stop for awhile, but according to the news we may in for some more severe weather in this area tonight.  I know there are others who live in the Austin area or central Texas, as well as the Houston area, who read the forum.  Let us know you are okay, please.  Stay safe everyone!
