OK, I'll bite - Johnny, where is New Ulm, TX?  Must be a special place if you've agreed to move again.  Yes, Scotty knows just about everything about everyone - I know his mother and her friends don't know EVERYTHING  about all of us, so, Scotty, what IS your source of so much info?

04/26/14 04:57 PM #6355

Teddie Jordan

Scotty has been that way since kindergarten. He just keeps track of people, investigates, and remembers. Always has. You can bet he's got plenty of dirt on me, but I've got enough on him that it's a standoff. Ha!

Johnny,

Becky's family (Reichle) farm (100 acre parcel, part of the old Kohlman land) is at 3288 FM 109.  As you cross Cummins Creek about 2 miles coming out of Columbus, look for two flag poles on the left side of the road.  If the gate is open on the weekends, go in and introduce yourselves  to Becky's  brother and his wife, Rusty and Linda.  Altho they still live on 41st St in Garden Oaks, they've been going up to the "Ranch" for 30 years.   Didn't you live near the Reichles  (Becky, Randy and Rusty) on Hialea growing up?  It is a small world!

Becky and I get to Columbus about twice a year from here in Oregon.  We'll look you up next time we're there.  Hopefully we'll be at the Reunion - don't know yet.

Blessings and prayers to all of you Waltripites.

Tommy Holder

Thank you to everyone who has been sending prayers for baby Noah.  I just received word that he is much improved!  His mother may get to hold him for the first time on Wednesday or Thursday of this week.  He is also beginning to slowly wake up and breathing some on his own!  He still has 3 weeks in the hospital, but it looks like he will not have to be transferred to TCH after all.  Once again, thank you so much for your caring for this tiny little one!

Jimmie lee, I thought you and Charles had checked out.  I just spent the day at md Anderson having tests done.  I was in the mays bldg.  I was so rushed from one session to another, but I would have hung around after the prodding to get to visit.  I was thoroughly impressed from a patient standpoint.  I had been there several times taking a friend to clinic visits, but that is a different perspective.  She said she always felt like the VIP at the banquet.  My tests were good and if everything stays okay I won't see them again.  I left without returning to the beginning, so I guess I don't get to pass Go and collect $200.  I should have read page six.  It really was an accident.  I just didn't know the system.

Charles had a temporary vocal chord repair procedure today, and unless something else happens, we leave MD Anderson tomorrow morning.  He will go directly to Lifecare in Plano for IV antibiotic treaments until May 9, and then home for a few days until we come back for follow-up tests and to get the drain tube removed from his abdomen.  We truly appreciate the cards, visits and e-Mails during his stay since April 10,  He is READY to get sprung from this hospital.

Wow!  Thank you so much to all of you who sent me birthday wishes yesterday.  I had a very relaxing day, but a pleasant one.  You know how to make a gal feel special!  I keep asking myself "How did I get this old so fast?"  (I am sure none of you ask yourselves that question) but it seems to happen no matter what.  My life has been great and I still have so much more to do!  Thank you all for being a blessing in my life!

It looks like baby Noah may be going home later this week.  He is doing so much better and is finally able to start the bonding process with his parents.  He is 18 days old today.  His mother was able to hold him for the first time last Wednesday.  Thank you again for all of your prayers and positive thoughts.  Noah's family thanks you, also.

I hope you are enjoying this beautiful weather - not too hot yet, but I have a feeling it's coming soon!  Happy Mother's Day to all moms, grandmoms, and maybe even some great grandmoms.  Sunday is your special day!

Yesterday, the kids and I had to tell Charles that his MD Anderson doctor and his Supportive/Palliative Care doctor believe that chemo will not help control the tumors on his spine and that when he is released from Lifecare, where he is being treated for his abdominal abscess, he will be coming home under hospice care.  Charles' first words were expressing his concern for us and his desire to make sure his financial affairs are in order for us and IMED, Inc.  The extreme pain in his back has returned and even with all the pain meds he's on, the pain level is where it was before his spinal surgery.  The Palliative Care doctor has worked with Charles since his spinal surgery and has always assured us that he will make Charles as comfortable as humanly possible when his body needs extreme pain relief.

Charles plans to spend as much time as possible visiting with friends and family and thanks each of you for your sustained prayers, cards, e-Mails, and visits during the past year and a half and asks that you pray for all of us during this time of transition.  He said to tell you, "I love you all and appreciate all your support."

What can I do for the brawner family?  I will honestly do anything that you feel will be helpful Jimmie lee.  Of course I am praying for our God's wisdom and mercy in all things.  Please let me know.

Brantley, thanks for the offer, but your prayers  are the answer.  Charles wants everyone to know he's not down for the count yet.  As a matter of fact, he's down in his physical therapy class right now.  Our MD Anderson doctor called him this morning and talked with us to give us closure and explain the reason there is no treatment that's going to prolong anything longer than a few weeks more than he has now and that going through that chemo isn't worth the pain and after-effects it would cause.  So, we're just waiting to get a CT (probably next week) to find out status of his abdominal abscess and hope that it's GONE so we can go home.  Hospice care doesn't mean he's done for - it's just care that will allow Charles to be made as comfortble as possible for the time he has.  I've gotten company names to explore, but one - Vitas- was recommended by a dear friend whose husband was under their care for over a year and was also recommended by our supportive/palliative care doctor.

So, please continue to pray for us as we face remaining in this LTAC until his infection is gone and then as we go home to explore just what Charles CAN do for as long as possible.

Hey Johnny!  No problem.  Moving is stressful enough without you worrying about my birthday!  I know you will be glad to get into your home and settled.  It sounds like a beautiful old home and I know you and Becky will make it warm and welcoming!

Prayers still flowing for Charles and Jimmie Lee!
