Howdy mine waltritexians!  Today is...well, today!  Me and cooper had school today. Had to skip tuesday at Jefferson because they were testing the little darlins.  Cooper has 5 kiddos at this school. They are all so different from each other, except the fact that they dont read so well. Now, today they have a story they can tell and retell.

Can I mention...booger and snot on the forum??? Well, ok, there it is out there for all the censors to see...BOOGER AND SNOT.

Now, we all know what our proboscis is for right? Sniffing to see if the bacon is cooking right! !  Well, this is about Coopers rather large proboscis, snufalupalus, schnozola, and or NOSE! ! ! Cooper has a habit of sunshining his way to your side, and then wiping his rather large nose on your pants, or shirt, if you are sitting down. He also sneezes rather largely, or robustly, or even rowdy I suppose. And he generally sneezes in the vacinity of my jeans, and then wipes his big ol nose on em...His sneezes are so huge, they just about blow your pants leg off...then he just grins from ear to ear, like he's just found the cure for all diseases, or that he sneezed all over you!

Now, when we go for a walk, he acts like a bloodhound, just sniffin for all he's worth, at any and everything. He is an equal opportunity sniffer! Anyway, there was a pile of leaves at the front of the school, and as we were walking by, he sniffed said pile, just as he always does, looking for just that right spot to mark that his greatness has been there.  I noticed nothing out of the ordinary, and I monitor almost his every movement, cause he can get into so much trouble if I take my eyes off him!

We get in to the Dr Ben Carson reading room, after rounding up all his charges. There is also another teacher that sits in with us on every session. So, up first is sweet little Evelyn, a dithering little first grader, that is so cute, and so so ...dithering, like a sweet little old lady. She has glasses with the cord around her neck and she wears them out at the end of her nose. She must be watching grandma!

We get all settled, Evelyn at coopers side, with Coopers big old head in her book and she just a gigeling. I noticed Cooper rubbing the side of his nose with his big ol paw, which is not too unusual! Evelyn is trying to read, and cooper is just a rubbing, and then he sneezes, a not so big one, and then he SNEEZES a rather large sneeze, and it blows Evelyns book out of her little fingers and lap and it goes skidding across the floor and hits the wall. Cooper just about knocked Evelyn over with his violent head action from the sneeze.

Now, Evelyn is giggleing and then her eyes get rather large and she puts her hand over her mouth, and goes 'EUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU...look, Cooper blew snot and a big booger on my book"...now, I didnt know that dogs had boogers, snot yes, but boogers no!  It was part of a leaf that he sniffed up his nose from the pile out front. Now all the other kids are going "EUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU, cooper blew snot and a big booger on Evelyns book"...They are all giggleing and jumping up and down and hooting and hollarin.

I said "Evelyn, go get your book sweetie", to which she replied, rather loudly, "I'M NOT GOING TO TOUCH THAT BOOK, IT'S GOT SNOT AND A BOOGER ON IT"...Ok, I'll go get it I thought...I walked over there, to which I uttered that rather telling and discriptive woid..."EUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU"  it was rather...er uh, not very pleasing looking! So, I said, "Ok, lets just leave it there for awhile shall we"? Man, they all started hooting and hollaring and rolling their eyes. I looked at the teacher, and she said she thought it would be a good idea, to leave it where it was.

Of course, Cooper all this time was excited by all the excitment, and was dancin and prancin, and let out one of his "winder rattlin Elvis is in the building" barks, and that of course further excited our merry band of readers and further excites Cooper ad finitum...I have to break out the treats for cooper, to calm him down, and walk him around the room! All the kids are up and walking around behind us in a straight line, all the time eyeing the er uh ...defiled book!

Well we finally get through with our reading, Eveyln with a new book, and the last of the kids departed.  I walk over to pick the book up, and it is just ruined. I took it outside and set it on the railing. I told the teacher that I would buy them a new book, if it couldnt be salvaged. She just chuckled and said, dont worry about it, she would have the custodian take care of it. I wonder if she was gonna tell him what it was coated with! Well, sometimes what we dont know maybe wont hurt us. At least there was no danger of catching a communicable disease from one of Coopers sneezes!

I was kinda glad that cooper ruined that book, it's the third time Evelyn has brought it to read. It is one of Dr Zeus worst books, "the cat and socks" or whatever it's called. It is just a horrible book, also confirmed by a few of the teachers I talked to. It rymes every word in the dictionary. Muddle fuddle buddle huddle skuddle etc...It doesnt teach them anything but a bunch of nonsense words! Well, thats my take on the matter!

Me and Cooper took a trip to the Mancusos Harley dealership on North Main, where he made friends with everyone at the dealership. Well, what else would he do? He sniffed a couple of new Harleys for me to see if I would like them. But, not to worry I'm not getting another one. Quite happy with the one I have, even thought it's 8 years old!  Havent been riding so much, just hurt too bad, and got a lot of chores around the old homestead to do.

Ok, my schnozzola has confirmed that suppers on the table. That and my beloved just summoned me!

Beau, great story!

Next time you and ol' Coop are in Mancuso's, pick out one that you really like and get Coop to send one of his patented snot rockets at it, and they'll probably end up giving you the new motorcycle just to get the two of you and it out of the showroom. If it works let me know and I'll hire you two to get me a new truck.

Wouldnt be so funny if it wasnt true. I wish I could have videoed the kids reaction and expressions. I've been chuckling all day over it. Coops sleeping it off...well now, he's wiping his nose on my jeans and grinnin.  Ok, thank you Coop, you're a sweetheart!

Congratulations to long time U of H basketball coach Guy V. Lewis for finally being voted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. As the Cougar coach from 1956-1986 he put our city on the world's map by winning 592 games, going to five final fours, and two NCAA championship games.

But most importantly he recruited, coached and served as a role model for many fine young men who went on to successful NBA careers and successful lives because of his influence.

Not a bad life for a boy from tiny Arp, Texas.

And while this recognition was about 25 years late in coming, at least it happened while he is still alive.

Hats off to you coach Guy V.!

Well said TJ...My beloved is a long time alumni supporter of UH (BA MA) and when she's loyal to something, shes LOYAL...the fact that the eastern sportswriters bias has kept Guy V out of the Hall Of Fame has been a sore spot for her for a long time. ..they also wouldnt give Bill Yeoman his just due either...he's the one that came up with the VEER offense, sometimes called the wishbone or triple option.

Long time ago when I liked sports, I took Sports Illustrated magazine, and noticed the absence of good things said about the Southwest Conference, or lack of reporting same. I sent them a letter, long before email and txting, and heard back from them. Their explanation was that there were no southern sports writers! ? ! ? ! ? WHAT????

Well, ok, that explains that doesnt it!  Who gnu???

Which brings me to some real sports gnus, there is a crawfish festival today at the northwest mall on the north end. Suppose to be about 10K people there. Maybe it will help out the antique center. Now I'm not a purveyor of mudbugs, cause as a mere chiile, I use to catch them out of the dirty ditch water. I stepped on one of em once with my bare foot, by accident, and not only did it grab my little toe with one of it's pinchers, it also squashed yellow. Never ever had the hankerin for mudbugs. I like the large mudbugs, called LOBSTER...yeah, thats the ticket, and lots o melted butter...

But on the good gnus side of the "mini-lobster" festival, our unofficial grandaughter Lucy from next door, will be crowned "MISS CRAWFISH" (I am gonna rib her forever over that title). I use to think all the "MISS THIS AND THAT" were just products of "fluff", no brains etc....Well I have certainly been handed an education on that subject.

Lucy has a 5.5 or higher average, Valdictorian and number one in her class since she was born. Plays classical piano, and all city clarinet in the marching band...Has a FULL 4 year scholarship to the UH HONORS college, plus two years abroad to the college of her choice. The UH Honors program, is only open to the top 1% of the top 1% of honor students. Hardest scholarship to obtain, obviously!

She got the "Miss Crawfish" title from writing an essay, and now gets that title and a 2000 dollar scholarship to help with other expenses along the way. Plus she has received other scholarships for this amount and that amount to help along the way. I always thought the "MISS THIS OR THAT" was awarded to the daughter of the richest supporter of the "THIS OR THAT" festival...HA SILLY FOOL!!!!!!!

Guess thats my point, cant judge a book by looking at it's cover! I always subscribed to that, I thought, but being human does have it's drawbacks...SOMETIMES WE'RE JUST STUPID! ! ! I will now look reverently upon all "MISS THIS OR THAT" knowing that they are smart, much smarter than I, and worked hard, much harder than I, to get to the point of "MISS THIS OR THAT" ! !!

Hey guys, you ever notice, and I must say it never occured to me, that there is never a "MR THIS OR THAT", cept in the whirld of body building? They build up the carriage part of the brain, the body! ! !  The body/carriage is important too, otherwise the brain would just sit around all day getting no exercize, being lazy and just getting fat...

Never a "MR CRAWFISH " has there ever been, and doubt that there ever will be! I will admit and have fallen prey to the fact that the
"MISS THIS AND THAT" is a lot easier on the eyes than any old "MR THIS AND THAT"...Guess that's just my "primal guy" showing through!  I will, howsomever, change my way of thinking and judging folks. I thought I'd gotten over the shallow part. Which goes to show you, life is a learning process from cradle to old age...

Ok, gotta get ready for the crawfish festival. They are having a Motorcycle exhibit and car exhibit and other festivities, maybe even live music....as oppose to what? dead music? Well, if they play Mozart, he's been dead for a few years...

So, Keep the sun at your six, and the mudbugs in the ditch...
Your frien and brother..."MR JABBERWROCKY 2013"

Hello mine waltritexians...just fresh from the crawfish festival from the Heights, although, not held in the heights, but at the old Northwest Mall parking lot at the old JC Penneys end. Rode Pegasus, whilst Diane took Cooper in the Ford Exploder. I must say Cooper had a great but tiring time. He greeted everyone, man woman and child. He also wanted whatever they were eating. Didnt let him have anything but his own goodies. Man, I forgot how offensive to the nose, the smell of mudbugs boiling, is!

Folks were scarfin em down like they were actually good and good for you! But I gno better!  We were hopin for some of the crowd to come into the mall, but not many if any did. The mudbug crowd isnt really the antique lover crowd! But fear not, Dr John had set up a Waltrip Alumni booth. Saw some old Waltrip Alumni, but didnt know any, except JC Mosier. He was there with the constables.  Good seeing him and Dr John.

The "MISS CRAWFISH"  wasnt what I imagined. There was no convertible ride with the lovely queen dressed in her finest with the "MISS CRAWFISH " sash. Just a stage with a dozen or so of your finest younsters accepting this scholarship and that scholarship as their names were announced. Got a few pictures of "our queen". What a delight she is!

There was a motorcycle contest and an auto contest. There were only two bikes entered, and mine came in third. Thats how bad my bike is! ! the winner was a custom job that was just beautiful. The sad part, is that he never rides it, just trailers it to shows to win "best bike".  The 2nd place bike was a 1996 Heritage Softail that was just cherry, apes and all.

Dont know which car won, but there were at least a dozen or more really nice cars, some old rods and a few old and new vettes. There was a 40 ford anglia with an 871 blower settin on top of some motor, probably a 350. There was even a 78 thunderbird, and it was...er...questionable. I had a 78 bird, and it was ok, but not showcar material...

Cooper was really dragging when we left.  Except for supper, he has been on the couch sound asleep. He sure brings a lot of happiness to folks, us included. Well, we are folks too!

Ok, time to hit the sheets. If we can get a few cats out of the way...
your frien and brother...Mr Jabberwrockey esq.

Since I couldnt sleep, got on the forum, and typed for 45 minutes, and poof, just like that, it disappeared...still not sleepy, but now, not in the mood to retype what I already spent 45 minutes typing and lost!  Man, I just hate that. But thats how my life has gone for 67 and three quarter years...take one step forward, slide back a mile! But I keep trudging ever forward...with a limp most times, but ever forward! Unless I've gotten turned around and am heading in the wrong di rection! Oh well. K sarah K sarah! ! !

Kaye, so sorry your engagement didn't work -- but you never know, could be Mr. Right is just around the corner.  Of course look who's talking -- I've been alone for 16 years, guess it's my choice!  Just know we are here for you!  Also thanks for all the many prayers for me, Charles and all the others.  I know we have tons of praying warriors!

BroBeau, so sorry for your pains --- I know we are all praying for relief for you, too!

Here's an update from Jimmie Lee, they are coming to Houston to M.D. Anderson -- Love & Hugs  - J

We will drive to MD Anderson in Houston the afternoon of Thursday, April 11.  April 12, our first appt. is at 7am for registration and then @ 8am we'll meet with his assigned doctor, George Simon.  We've been told nothing else will be scheduled for Charles until after he meets with his doctor, but we should plan to be down there for 5-7 business days.  Charles wants to drive home Friday as soon as we are finished and depending on what our appointments are for the next week, we'll most likely drive back down Sunday and stay the duration for whatever gets set up for that week.

We plan to stay at Extended Stay America on Braeswood (about 1 mile from MDA) because they have a shuttle that runs to MDA every hour and they will accept our dogs.  Also, they have kitchens, and since Charles' eating habits are few and strange because of stomach problems, we can fix his meals there.

Please say prayers for him that his headaches and backaches will stop soon.  The headaches are what started this whole process last summer and we've yet to get a valid reason for them.

Things to think about!

1- I used to eat a lot of natural foods until I learned that most people die of natural causes.

2- There are two kinds of pedestrians . . . The quick and the dead.

3- Life is sexually transmitted.

4- Healthy is merely the slowest possible rate at which one can die.

5- The only difference between a rut and a grave is the depth.

6- Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in hospitals dying of nothing.

7- Have you noticed since everyone has a cell phone these days no one talks about seeing UFOs like they used to?

8- Whenever I feel blue, I start breathing again.

9- All of us could take a lesson from the weather. It pays no attention to criticism.

10- In the 60's, we took acid to make the world weird. Now the world is weird and people take Prozac to make it normal.

11- How is it one careless match can start a forest fire, but it takes a whole box to start a campfire?

12- Who was the first person to look at a cow and say, 'I think I'll squeeze these dangly things and drink whatever comes out'? Hmmmmm,
How about eggs ? . . .

13- If Jimmy cracks corn and no one cares, why is there a song about him?

14- Why does your OB-GYN leave the room when you get undressed if they are going to look up there anyway?

16- If corn oil is made from corn, and vegetable oil is made from vegetables, then what is baby oil made from?

17- Do illiterate people get the full effect of Alphabet Soup?

18- Does pushing the elevator button more than once make it arrive faster?

19- Why doesn't glue stick to the inside of the bottle?

Prayin' for rain in League City TX

04/12/13 03:03 AM #5618

Beau Wann, Jr.

Well, Wayne, youve certainly given my little pea brain a lot to think about! ! ! Why doesnt glue stick to the inside of the bottle? Thats long been a mystery to me. Actually it does stick to the inside, after you open it and let it set fer a year or three, then need it to glue something!   Here's another question folks have been ponderin fer a spell...

...if a chicken and a half could lay an egg and half in a day and a half, how long would it take  a grasshopper with a wooden leg to kick the seeds out of a dill pickle???

Yeah, I thought you'd like to hear about that one...again!
Who was the first person to eat an onion? Horseradish? Mushrooms? If you come up on a the first dead body to eat a mushroom in a mushroom patch, do you eat a mushroom? How would you know what killed him? Wonder how many dead wrong mushroom eaters would have to pile up be fore someone caught on?  And who the hell would eat a snail on purpose? A real hungry person for sure? I have been hungry, but never that hungry...

In survival training in the service, spent a week in the dessert, a week in the jungles, a week in a life raft, and a week in a mock up POW camp...we were suppose to make do with whatever nature provided. The flight suit we wore back then had boucoup pockets. I remember em telling us to always carry extra grub, like candy bars, peanuts etc...SO I DID!  I stuffed my zipper pockets so full, I looked like the pilsbury dough boy...First week went by, I wasnt too hungry, but I was getting tired of candy bars and peanuts etc...

Well, maybe not a week, but the first few days! On the life raft, we were suppose to catch and eat raw fish...I just couldnt do it...I kinda figgured they wouldnt let us starve and die out there...I hoped  they wouldnt anyhow...that experience alone is what has stiffled any desire to eat sushi...I dont care what you do to it, it's still raw fish! And my DI said, after I asked the dumb question..."if raw fish becomes deadly toxin 2 hours after you catch it, why doesnt the fish I catch and take home to eat, doesnt kill me???" Of course the DI was waiting for a dumbs*** like me to ask that question...He very politely said..."you stupid *&^%$#@@!#$%^&^%$#$%^%$#$%^&* I'lll  just bet your mommy cooks it dont she" Or woids to that effect

Yup, it's in the wee small hours of the morn and I am up...well duh, what else is gnu? If I got a job as a knight watchman, I'll bet I could sleep then! If youre reading this, then maybe it didnt disappear like the other night. There is absolutely nothing on the boob toob at 2 oclock in the morning, cept "zumba" and "brazillian butt lift" and fancy skillets and ginzu knives and pocket hoses...who would carry a hose in their pocket? It'd have to be a mighty small one!  Wait, there's two babes selling sandals...I have the sound down so as not to disturb the entire cat dog and wife community...but both babes are shaking their heads yes and holding up a sandal...well, they're not my style thank you!

How bout that rain huh? I put another bag O fertimalizer out, just before it rained...how lucky is that? Upon deeper thought, how stupid of me...now I'll just have to mow it! Dang, why do yall make me do this stuff?  Oh cool man, they're advertising nuwave ovens...Looks like one of those kids "bakelight oven"...Ok, now someone wants me to call in and talk to Jesus! Well, I dont need a tv show to do that now do I! ! !

Ok, guess it's time to sign off! Think I'll find a spot in the cat free zone to lay down... who knows, might nod off to sleep, stanger things have happened I suppose.

Keep the sun at your 6 and your powder dry...
your frien and brother JabberWrocky...sleepless in oak forest...good thing I'm singing off, cause the computer just told me it was gonna upgrade stuff in x minutes...

up early this morning....must confess it is wonderful to be able to have one's own schedule.  Most of you are already enjoying this luxury.  So much to do, i.e. things I left undone because of the work schedule.

Did you read the article about the "beaver" who killed the photographer who was irritating it?  Seems they have a very strong "bite" and he grabbed the guy's artery......good to know...just in case there is a re-visit in the future.  This drought probably can turn even vegetables and weeds into "warriors", might just grab your legs while your walking the fields....

I've seen the first snake of the year....it had just been run over though....copperhead.  Had the first young deer run in front of me....life in the country!

Jimmie Lee Smith (Brawner)

We met with our MD Anderson doctor on April 12.  Dr. Simon said the PET scan Charles had done in McKinney did not enable him to specifically see the exact relation of the tumor to the aorta, and in his mind, the tumor may NOT be wrapped around the aorta and that what he’s seeing could be a result of his heart surgery (scar tissue).  If that is the case, it’s “possibly” operable and “curable” instead of just “treatable.”  Next week, Charles will need to have a 2nd PET scan plus a pulmonary function test along with numerous other tests, and at the end of the diagnostics, we’ll meet with a surgeon to determine the possibility of operating.  Whatever the decision, chemo and radiation will be required (before surgery, after or both).  Dr. Simon recommends having the radiation @ MDA.  He says chemo can be done in our area, but the quality of radiation at MDA is superior to other facilities (it’s called Proton Therapy and we’ve read a lot about it on MDA’s website).  We both were so impressed with Dr. Simon.  He took his time to meticulously map out and explain Charles’ problem, asked for our questions and made us feel he was truly “there for us” and not in any hurry to get to the next patient.

So, with all your prayers and support, The Lord has given us the wonderful blessing of HOPE!

We’ll be driving back to Houston this week.  As soon as we get a  treatment plan in place, we’ll pass on our next progress report.  We thank each and every one of you who has said a special prayer for Charles (and me) and want you to know you all are in our prayers of thanks to The Lord.

Hello All,

Sorry I haven't been to Fudds in a while but am diligently at work every Tuesday and the traffic out 290 in the evenings is absolutely HORRIBLE! On my way to Clay's last nite a Corvette was speeding, constantly weaving and tailgating everyone, including me (and the traffic was busy, as usual on 290).

Anyway, it was good to see everyone.

BTW, does anyone out there in Waltripland have any experience with RFID inventory/tracking systems???? We are about to utilize some custom system for tracking our art and frame collection. I have read quite a bit on-line but I still have questions---it appears that the "Barcode" approach is woefully inadequate for our purposes, requiring cumbersome "direct line-of-sight" scan reading and much data entry, which is always prone to human errors and very time-consumming.

The "tagging" (computer chip) system is quicker and more accurate, updating automatically in real-time, which is what we need. How do you scan in storage "A" without going through walls, etc and into adjacent Storage "B", thus giving garbled results?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, DougR
