Hey Rich, dont give her grapes...not good for dogs! We saw an article that said they were ok, then one that said NO, so we dont! Diane use to freeze them and then give them to Rocky until we read the "DONT DO IT" part!!!

Ol Olie is still at the vet! I had to leave him so they could squeeze the pee out of him, no kidding!!! Me and him are traumatized, because he has never been away from home without me or Diane being with him! I will have the limo service pick him up at 6 pm today in the evening, not morning, but later than noon...I have no idear what I just said, drugs are banging on my brain!!!
Getting a cat scan as I type this...Lacy, Peaches, and Katy all trying to get in my lap!

But hey, Olie has lost a pound...only weighs 21 pounds instead of 22...I told vet that olie only gets cat food, and he eats very little of that, and absolutely no people food, which is the truth, and she just looked at me and smiled her "yeah right" smile! But it is the truth. He doesnt eat the canned food, just lickes the juice off the top, and just a little dry from time to time! He probably has pizza and lasagna delivered whilst we are asleep!!! Thats got to be it! He and Garfield party hardy everynotghkdfkl; let me try that again, everynight!!!

I never had Mrs Barden. I signed up for her class once, but word had already spread far and wide to all the teachers about..."that boy"! When I got my class schedule, her class had been erased! Oh well, I dont even bemember what she taught! Whatever it was, I wouldnt have passed anyway!!! Unless it was Pool Cleaning 101! Which reminds me, I need to vacuum the pool tonight! Got to let the drugs wear off so I dont stumble in and drown!

Going our of twon tihs wkeend, so got to get pool cleaned and yard mowed and washing done as well as the vacuuminninnkg! Dang maid quit on me! I can spray pledge on the cats and sail em across the furniture to get the dusting done!! They dont really like that, but they need to earn their kpee around heerer!

OK...time to...something...maybe nap...yeah, thats the tickendt...
your okra and brethren olmankanobie

Hey BroBeau,

Hope you're feeling better soon - we all missed you and Di last night - but certainly understand.  Keep us posted on Coop's next story adventure --- what a dog!

Lola, a BIG THANKS for bringing the birthday cake for Scotty, Barbara and Allen -- it was delicious.

We had our usual fun and cake to top it off!  I'll be posting pictures soon.

Burge, keep posting your pictures and hope to see you in October --------- and that goes for all the rest that were missed last night.

Hugs,

J

Hey Jackie, thanks. Sure wanted to be there, but the pain said "no way"!

Got my pal Big Oliver back from the vet, and Doc Griggs says ol Oliver has to lose some weight! He lost a whole pound!!!! Aint that good enough???? Apparently not! He is now on RD and any of youse youtes that have critters know what all that means. RD CD LD all them Ds! Like I told Doc, Oliver really doesnt eat all that much! Although, I was missing a couple a cans of tuna and chicken! Wonder how he learned to use the can opener! We have a manual one...Oh well!

On this date in 1892, it was 55 degrees...HA...what do you make of that???? In February of 1895, it snowed 22 inches here in houston! I remember that, like it was yesterday, dont you!!!
Obekabe!!! Just took a happy pill, and so far, I aint happy!!! Jaw feels like someone hit me with a bat!! So...hey rich, bananas are ok and good for dogs, sweet taters, pumpkin...well, pumpkin is a laxative of sorts for dog critters!

Dentist told me yesterday that If it werent for the two teeth giving me trouble, I had perfect teeth...yeah...and when it stops hurting, I'll feel better, right???

Ok, pill kickin in, and I'm kickin back and out...sweet tater beauregard singing off...hoppy trials to you...

something is always there, always around us that remind us of the beauty of creation.it was long thought that the varied color paterns on flowers were the que through 'natural selection' for the various insects and birds that feed on their nector.not long ago, scientists discovered that insects that frequent flowers are color blind(not being able to discern in our visual spectrum);color in our visual spectrum is not necessary to the evolution of either species.the ques are there on the flower alright, but in the u/v range of the full spectrum.that we can see the brilliance in the colors and enjoy a deep reverance for that intelligence  puts us in such an advantageous light.to see beyond necessity and enjoy from those small events that say so much.

Good mornin' Waltripians. I hope all passed a good night! As promised I attended the reception at Plonk Grill and Wine Bar last night. What I do for this group! For those of you who are not aware of it, it is on the NW corner of the 43rd and Ella Blvd. intersection. It is a new shopping center that replaced the one that was there in the day. I like it. It has a nice atmosphere. The food I tasted was good and well prepared. They have a nice selection of wine and beer that is moderately priced. I was surprised that it was full on a Wed. night. A lot of thirty something folks and moving on up the age scale. I headed home about nine to let the Rushin Setter out and it was still full. When you go I think you'll enjoy it.

Beau I hope Big Ollie is his old self soon. If he takes off some weight then he won't have make two trips when he is hauling buns around the cement pond.

Good pics and thoughts Burge.

Keep on dancing,

Rich LH

Beau Wann, Jr.

Happy 29th birthday Scotty, and many many more...And happy birthday to all our waltripian family out there in Ram country! Which reminds me, I saw Waltrip HS Tshirts for sale in the pharmacy dept at Randalls on 34th st! Almost bought one!!!

Dang, didnt go out of town with the Gentlemans Old Sports Hunt Association, aka GOSHA! Tooth and back was bothering me too much! And where we hunt, being an hour and a half from a doctor, I thought it better to skip it this one time! Wish I had gone anyway! That was probably the one place I look forward to the whole year the most! Had many a, "laugh till you cry" experiences at  those hunts! Always felt rejuvenated and new after our annual outing! Oh well, as the losing team allus says, "maybe next year"!!!

Had to take the boys on dawn patrol, on predawn patrol the last couple of morns! Shucks, neither one cares what time they go for a walk! I on the other hand prefer a more normal time, but due to circumstances beyond my control, had to go early! Most everything normal both mornings! However, this morning, was actually profitable! Cooper found a twenty dollar bill out on the street! Since Coopers suit is not outfitted with pockets, he entrusted me with the responsibility of transporting our new found loot! Once it disappeared in my pocket, Ol Coop forgot all about it! Shucky darn, that ol boy doesnt need money no how! He has me to tend to his every need, no matter what it cost!

Fixed us all my big tasty breakfast, Grits and eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes and onions and peppers, and melt in your mouth homemade biscuits and gravy, of course with OJ and my whirld famous coffee! It turned out better than ever! Maybe I'll open up that diner and call it the "CHEZ CEPHUS"!!! Had a few beggars show up, Peaches, Jack, Big Oliver...and he knows he is on a diet too! Guess he didnt think it would matter one way or the other! Even fixed Cooper and Jack an egg and half piece of bacon! They are not very good tippers though! Both just ran out the door with hardly a thank you! But their grins and waggin tails told me how much they appreciated the extra rations!

Went to the little country church in the city! had the usual 33 suspects in attendance! Good sermon today, what I could hear of it! Preachers voice just hits that tone or Frequency that my ears cannot understand! We sang one of my all time favorite hymns, "Holy Holy Holy", and I sang loudly! Collection plate was passed, and that 20 dollars that Cooper found, somehow found it's way into it! I knew all along where that 20 was heading! Well, it was someones loss, so it rightfully wasnt mine, and  I thought the Lord could put it to better use than I could, buying me or coop anything!

Saw Mr and Mrs Theissen! They are just super people! Jim, Mr Theissen, told me a sad story about 4 men from his hometown, which I forgot to ask him the name of, that rode their harleys to the annual Sturgis rally this past august, only a month ago! And how they were on their way back home, when a drunk hit and killed all 4 of them! They were our age, and had been friends since childhood, and all served in Vietnam together! Or, thats what I thought Jim said! He talks kind of soft and my ears are kinda deaf! But how sad that is! I suppose they will probably slap the drunken murderer on the wrist and tell him to "go and sin no more" and he will go and get drunk again, and probably kill someone else! Rode with the PGR last month in the funeral of a Marine home from a tour in Iraq and Afghanistan, that was hit and killed by a drunk driver...and the beat goes on!

Sat down today with Cooper to practice our reading! I spread a blanket out on the floor, and before I could get Coop settled on it, the blanket filled up with CATS...and Jack!!! They all saw me take the pack of Oscar Mayer weiners out of the fridge. I thought I was being discreet and very quiet, but somehow they know! I shooed the cats off, and managed to get Jack at least off the blanket, and to the side! Finally got Coop to lay down, and put a book, (coloring book) in front of him, and he helped me turn the pages! Of course, the pages being laced with oscar mayer slices helped, but he will stick his nose in books now, with out good ol Oscar M. Thats what we want!!!
And tomorrow, is his big debut into the whirld of acadamia! I am so excited for him, because this is what he was meant for, helping others!

Whilst we were practizin our reading, ol Jack crept ever so close, sneakin along flat on the floor like an alligator searchin for prey, hoping that I couldnt see him. His nose got to within an inch of Coops nose, and all the time his eyes were looking around like he wasnt concerned at all...yeah right! Jack stuck his nose in the same book as coops nose, and wouldnt you know it, two treats, one for each! Jack might be good for the program, cept he is kinda hyper sometimes! Might chew the kids little fingers off looking for treats! But he is still a yout, and I am sure someday, if he endeavors to perservere, he will take his rightful place in the Halls of education!

I did have to break off some small pieces of OMW for Oliver and company, of which only Katy and Peaches and Lacy partook of the tasty tidbits! Just like I said, Oliver wants what you have, but wont eat it! Crazy cat!!! The vet did tell me to try to get Oliver to excercise somehow...Hmmm...I tried jumpin jacks, but my back didnt like that at all, and then I tried walking around real fast and running in place...Dont think it worked, cause Ol wooly mammoth his ownself just layed in MY chair and watched me do all the work!!! Hmmm PTs not workin out on his majesty!!! Doc did suggest that I get what I thought she said, a taser oinker???? I repeated it back to her, and she broke out into hysterics..."your wife is right, youre deaf as a post arent you"!!!!! She then repeated, as she was laughing, what she said, LASER POINTER!!!! "OH" says I, now I can see that making sense. Didnt know how a taser gun was gonna help big olie at all! she reallly didnt want me to electrocute him, just reduce his intake of food and get him to run around a bit!

Well, Big Ollie aint gonna run, unless its to the kitchen, and that ol boy hauls kitty buns! He is fast for as big as he is! Also, doesnt stop very well on tile floors when he makes that turn into the kitchen! His big ol self just bangs into whatever is in the way, knocking over a bar stool, or dog water bowl, makes no nevermind to him what he hits, long as he comes to a stop at his dinner bowl!!! And I might add, he does like the RD that the vet provided, at great cost to us, which is something, because before now, none of the other cats we have had would touch it! Now, they see King Kat Daddy eating it, and now, they have to have some! So, that's not too bad, they are all  on a diet...until they realize it's diet food! Then the tuna will hit the fan...

Well, I can see by the clock on the wall, that ol garfields right hand is almost on the 1 and his left hand is almost on the 10! So think I will haul myself downstairs and into the shar and into bed! Maybe I will have some sweet dreams...speaking of sweet, I fixed the lovely DW and myself, a malt!!!! An Ovaltine chocolate malt! Havent had one in a long time! forgot how good they taste! Next time yall are in the kitchen, fix yourself one...if you dont have any ovaltine, go to K rogers and get some...you will be glad you did...

Happy trails to you...keep the sun at your 6 and ride boldly ride...

Our heartfelt condolences to you Lloyd! Moms are irreplaceable!

My mom is almost 91 and seemed to be slipping away going from bad to worse, the past couple of months, but she just changed doctors and got rid of 4 of her meds and has gone from her death bed, to up and about, albeit on a walker, but she had that before...Shes Almost blind now with macular degeneration, but she still has her hearing, and she is a music lover beyond all measure, being operatic trained and classical piano trained! The religious training in me wants her to loose her earthly bounds and fly away to her great beyond and then the earthly man, wants to keep her here...just so she doesnt suffer! 91 years!!!! She has expressed to me that she never envisioned living this long, just never thought about it, she said!

Lloyd, really sorry about your mom...she will always be with you...and you with her...but rejoice in the better place she is now...no meds, no pain, only sweet love and joy...Jesus Promise, "whosoever believeth in me, shall have everlasting life"...

Good morning Waltripians. Did you see the article in the Sunday Chronicle about JudgeWesley Brown in Wichita, KS ? He is a federal judge and still working full time at 103. His colleagues all say he is still sharp mentally and handling his case load. He has made two concessions to age. he no longer walks up the four flights of stairs to his office and he uses a portable oxygen bottle during trials to make sure his brain gets enough oxygen. He also no longer hears civil trials, only criminal. He says since some of the civil trials can be lengthy that it isn't fair to the plaintiffs and defendants to have him as judge because of his age. He says at his age he doesn't even buy green bananas.

Based on the condition of the economy I think working at 103 may be a window on the future, Yikes!

While we're all in a prayerful mode for Lloyd and his family you might also lift up a prayer for some strong cool fronts to protect the TexasGulf Coast from late season hurricanes that are predicted for the Caribbean and Gulf.

Well the Rushin Setter went for her first walk yesterday at the park. She met some neighbors and some neighbor dogs along the way. She met Beau my neighbor's year old Golden Retriever. He's not very well trained either. We walked about a mile and Liz and slowed down significantly by the time we got home. After a few drinks and about a ten minute break she was ready to play ball. I thought she would take a snooze so I could watch the Astros game. So we compromised we did both. The recovery time of youth! We had started to the park several times before but she was always reluctant to go. I guess because she got dumped there, remembered that and was afraid it would happen again. Hopefully our walk last night will give her confidence that she is coming back home from the park. We'll eventually head down to the dog park after she has had a little more socialization. We may institute dawn patrols to provide extra security to Candlelight Estates (LOL) since she is a stealth dog. We'll have to get her focus changed though. There not much demand on patrol for stealthily getting in the kitchen garbage and surreptitiously snitching beets, potatoes and peppers out of the garden. She's definitely a work in progress but a very sweet one.

Keep on dancing,

Rich LH
