made it thru christmas....hot,then cool, then cold..sharon and i have had cold/allergies..did get out thurs. pm.....mother sold her condo, will move to georgetown area apt....they are cleaning out storage and unit itself...waiting on new ac/heat units promised by mgmt. co....some of my anxiety has been calmed and future will be changing our family....mother's health is better and she may still visit new mex. in spring....keep in your prayers...happy new year to all.....

     Merry Christmas and the happiest of new years to all myne fyne waltripynes, and to those that are not. Yes, time she is a moving on...oops, that should be "time HE is a moving on", well, father time and all I suppose. Why should us guys take all the heat on this time bit, eh?  Why cant it be Mother time?  I know I've had a "mother of a time" most of my borned days.  And, how about "Old Man Winter"?  What's up with that?  Why cant it be "Old Woman winter"?    I have first hand knowledge that "this old man is not real fond of winter". 

     In my defense, I was left home alone, totally unsupervised, like totally!  It all started innocently enough, cooking some ground beef for the pups. I know what your thinking, we spoil our dogs, and the answer to that is, YES WE DO!  However, and aint there always a however!  A pound of ground beef cost the same if not less than a can of dog food that they wont eat and waste. And, all you need to add to the dry food, is just a tablespoon or so of the ground beef, so we can stretch it for almost a wweek.. 

    The ground beef we buy has virtually no grease or fat, and is from Grolczks (sp) in Hempstead, and they get locally grown beef from Navasota and surrounding areas, and not from China!  Anyway, it all started inocently enough, cooking ground beef in a skillet.  As luck would have it, and she pretty much has it her way, I got distracted and walked away from the stove.  Time passed, heard a rather rude noise and noticed some sorta fog in the house.

    Yup, that's what you get when you leave something unattended on the stove, SMOKE ALARMS AND SMOKE. Well, I would hardly call it real smoke, just a tad hazy and it was only one alarm, and it was probably faulty anyway.     What a big to do about nothing I'd say.  One good thing, the gnd beef was only dark, real dark on one side, and rather crunchy.  Of course the dogs were thumping their collective tails and dancing in the streets so to speak. Thats just the way they like their treats, crunchy!   Cats could care less!

    Now when I put ground beef in their bowls, and it isnt burnt to a turn, they look at me with the "what, is this it? No crunchy?  "  Look. 

     You know, everytime Diane comes home from being gone a couple a days,  as she walks through the door, she always says, "what is that smell"?  I tell her that she has her choice of too much air deoderamizer, or what ever food I've burned over the last couple of days whilst I was left unsupervized, or in some cases, both.  I have decided that from now on whilst she has to spend a few days away, if I want something cooked, GO TO THE CHAPPELL HILL BAKERY AND BBQ JOINT. ! ! !

     We have a 5th Sunday of the month lunch at our little country church in the country.  This past Sunday, yesterday, was our first to attend so we wanted to make a couple of dishes for the event.  Diane chose mashed potatoes with cheddar cheese, and I chose CORNPONE PIE! ! ! ! !   I havent made that tasty dish in a fortnight or three.  So, I made a test batch around wednesday.  It didnt turn out as well as I would have expected, and no where near the quality that my mother use to make. 

     So I made a double batch for Sunday, thinking I corrected whatever wrong I perpetrated on such a fine culinary delight, and mostly I did, but it was still not up to my Moms standard, edible, but not perfect!  Dianes mashed potatoes were heavenly, where as my CORNPONE PIE, was somewhere between heaven and hell, most closer to the latter.  I did put jalopenos in my concoction, and it's a  good think I announced to the folks that I had, because wouldnt you know it,  some are allergic to the fine pepper.  I can see I'm not making any points at my gnu church.

     Maybe I'll just leave the cooking to the womenfolk. As I stated in the past, I'm more of a "heater upper" rather than a "chef". I do spam and cornbeef hash and chili from a can like really well. Guess I'll just stick to that. " A mind is a terrible thing..."  " A mind, unsupervised, is really a terrible think"....

    Rose bowl parade is onfor the 129th time. Yould think after 129 years, they'd get it right.  Very pretty and mechanically engenious, (does that look right?  Sometime my mind doesnt see words like it use to. Back in the day, there werent too many words that I couldnt spell. Now I'm lucky to recognize one out of three words. It has something to do with my hearing. The OT says that not hearing words, your brain forgets them. Yes it does.)   Anyway, lots of pretty colors in the parade! Where do they get all the flowers?   Is there a "flowerville" somewhere that supplies them?  

     I'm really thinking of moving to the Carribean somwhere. Maybe around Corpus Christi. Shoot, I could go fishing!  As long as I dont have to get in a boat, I'd b e fine.

    Ok, time to deplane and shut this rambling rose down.  Keep the sun at your six, or anywhere you can, and ride boldly ride....

     Had 27 yestidy moanin, and 30 this moanin.  Still colder than a witches well digger in January at the noth pole. Dont rightly know why a witch would want to dig a well at the noth pole, but I dont make this stuff up, it's all for real and true. Member me telling you about the ground beef I feed the pups?

     You think we spoil our dogs,  How about this for a cat? Or THE cat. This is my sons cat whose name escapes me at the moment...the cats name, not my sons.  Looks like King Grumpus to me.  My son likes to send pictures of the culinary delights he concocts. Dont know if he's just proud of em, or if he's rubbing it in that I'm probably having beans and weinies for supper, or some other BURNT offerings to the culinary gods.

    Uppon further questioning, he assured me the above items on the menu were not for the cat. Yeah right!  Maybe all the pics of the food he sends me is actually fake rubber food you can buy at the local five and dime. Yeah, that's the ticket, fake food.  Believe me, I can spot fake food, I have cooked enough of it !

    Hey TJ, I found an old apron we use to wear at Mangum Supervalu back in the day.  It's shrunk howsomever.  I dont seem to have that 28 inch waist anymore, imagine that. Now I'm a 29....

     No, this was the half apron that we folded in half again so that it wasnt so long. I kept my box cutter in my watch pocket, since I had no watch to go in there.  Didnt really need a watch, I was either very early, or didnt show up at all, but I was never late!  Strangely enough, that apron felt like it was a uniform of sorts, one that I enjoyed wearing and will remember fondly.  The kids today cant hold a candle to us when we worked.  I remember when I was finally made a checker/cashier, Buddy Woods taught me, and he was the best there was.

    Remember the cash registers?  7 rows of buttons across and 10 down.  We could check faster punching in the price and then hitting the big "enter" button than the auto scanners do today.  We got so good at it, we knew the price of every item in the store, and we could punch the right buttons without looking at them. When I worked at Houston National Bank, I got so good on the 10 key, no one, NO ONE, could keep up, and I did it without looking at it, and no mistakes at all. 

       When there was a new item that Frank or someone hadnt marked, and we couldnt find it anywhere, instead of holding up the customer, like they do today, Mr Vanek would make up a fair price, or give it to them free, just so the customer wouldnt be inconvenienced.

   If we were sacking or stocking and they called for a price check, we RAN to the front, and RAN to the aisle where the product was suppose to reside, and then RAN back to the front. Probably took all of a minute. Now of course, it's all about the employees and not the customer. the employees have to saunter up to the front, and shuffle off to where the item is suppose to be, stopping on the way, both ways to talk and laugh with other employees or talk on their phone etc.......180 degrees opposite of when we were youtes.  Sad state of affairs me thinks.

     With all that talent, I didnt go pro, I know I know, hard to believe, I just wasted my talents,  and with all the above info and 5 dollars will get you, is a cuppa coffee from starbucks.

    Once again, you asked me what time it was, and I built a watch for you. Just cant do anything short, cept sleep. Have a good un....

     Chilly moanin to all youse youtes.  19 this fine morning.  When the sun finally decided to wake up, it has been warming up nicely. Now a balmy 35.  Been out with the dogs this morning, and with the sun, the cold wasnt so bad. Of course I had on my lined jeans, 3 shirts, winter socks, insulated unawares, a fleece lined jacket, my LL Bean bout du nords (boot of the north), a neck warmer, and my 100% navy wool watch cap and a partridge in a pear tree. Aint no stinkin cold gonna freeze me. Of course I could hardly move, but I was warm, then had to go to the mens room, oh the humanity! ! !

     Looks like I'll be bachein it till Sunday afternoon. Diane is on her way to her moms to help out with things. I've promised not to cook anything that requires any heat generated from anything other than the microwave, or The chappell hill bakery.  I'm opting for the latter.  Ifin any of youse youtes are out and about, come on by, the coffee will be on round the clock, or we can go to the CHBakery, or both.    We have an overabundance of very fine medicinal spirits and snake bite medicine with which to lace and brace our coffee!  If youre ailing or suffer from snakus bitus, come on up and ol Doc Bogardus will attend yore needs.

    Keep the glorious sun blessed by the son, wherever it makes you happy, and of course ride boldly ride...

Cephus, I’m kind of picturing the Pillsbury dough boy, barely even able to walk with all of those clothes, sluicing around in the cold with those two fine pups. Question, what were they wearing that they didn’t walk around wearing in the 100 degree heat of August?

     Yup, Pillsbury dough old boy.  Well, it was 19 for crying out loud, but you better not cry at 19, cause your eyeballs will freeze. The pups didnt seem to mind it atall.  I had to go back inside and take off some clothes cause if one of the dogs had knocked me down, all I could do would be to rock back and forth, or rolla down the hill. Now, that's a scary thought! 

      Think of the momentum 200 pounds of solid muscle would pick up as it rolled down a 30 degree incline.   When I hit the creek, "BOOM"  woulda been heard for miles, and probably register  12.9 on the ricter scale. I almost register that now on the bathroom scale.  Got one of those talky scales, "GET OFF GET OFF YOU BIG GALOOOT, GET THE HELL OFF ME..." or woids to that defect.  Smartallecky machines! ! !

    You'll be relieved that I didnt cook anything, just nuked some leftovers in the radarrange.  What was left of the cornpone pie, some boild cabbage and some meatballs.  I was going to eat some blackeye peas, however, since I cooked em with some ham hocks, the grease has jelled in the container. Gonna have to throw those bad boys away, not appetizing atall.  Well, it'll give the buzzards something to eat. Can you imagine how I will feel, if the buzzards reject my cooking?  

     Gave Jack his medicine, and Dixie some peanut butter, then had to give the cats something.  Did I get anything?  Noooooooooo....

    Ok, guess I'll sing off for now, one of my favorite movies is on, "Jeremiah Johnson". I think I like it for the scenery more than anything else.

     Outstanding ! Looks like the general has been keeping up with his drum playing, cause his druming was flawless in that video.       Just think, Robbie and I have been playing "WALK DONT RUN" since it was a hit back in the day.  I guess that means we are at least Major Generals, since we play guitar and not the drums. I've been a general major screwup since before "WALK DONT RUN" came out.  Thanks Jackie and Richard.

Does anyone know of a great RV park near or in Corpus Christi that was not damaged by the hurricane?  We would like to arrange a fishing trip sometime in April/May.  We have been told that Rockport and Aransas Pass would not be a good choice right now.

Linda we fish down there every summer with the kids and rent a home on Mustang Island in a development on Hwy 361 about 5-6 Miles south of the town of Port Aransas. There is a big RV  park adjacent to it but I have no idea of the name. The good thing about rv parks is that only their infrastructure was at risk and most of that is  underground. The owners of the most of the rv’s  probably left the day before impact. The farther south  you go on 361 the less damage as the storm came up from the south leaving that part of 361 on the cleaner western side of the circulation. There are multiple rv parks on Mustang island and SPID, and from there it is just minutes to drive to Corpus.. 

And your information is correct. Rockport, Port Aransas, and Aransas Pass took a direct hit, with a lot of damage.

Just went out to check on the well and other thingies, and the wind is howling and blowing snow. Ground is as crunchy as walking on rice krispies. Wind aabout 20+mph, 26 degrees with 12 windchill, brrrrrrrrrr.....
Of course that is a balmy day in Minnesota where Waynes home base is.  Speaking of which, GO VIKINGS !
I dont watch football anymore, but hope the Vikings win becasue they have a UH alum as quarterback, CASE KEENUM.

     Justt had some cream o wheat!  . Add some apples and cinnimon and maple syrple and youve got as good a tujmmy liner as you can get.  Been stayin in as in not leaving the compound due to the FLU epidemic. If I get it, that will be the end of me, with these weak lungs o mine.  I suggest we all stay in, least till the spring thaw.

     We've both had the pneumonia shot, but not the flu shot, which from my understanding, wouldnt do any good nohow, becasuse this is the "no namee flu".  Hmmm,, wonder whats happenin to my fingers, I'm making a powerful lot of typing errors.  Well, no matter, probably no one reading this nohow due to being froze and all. Might make for good reading come spring, eh what!

     I've really missed seeing and talking to all yall.   I'm beginning to think that this was a mistake to move up here. Diane spends most of her time in houston tending to  her mom and dad.  When we moved from the MONDO CONDO in  spring branch back in 87, we moved out to Hearthstone. that was way out of the city back then.  Well, 7 years later, with my mom and dad getting older and her mom and dad getting older, we thought we'd move back in closer to help them out, so we moved to candlelight.

    Wrong move mah phyne fryens. Neither wanted our help. 20 years later, we move back out again this time 60 or so miles away as the crwo flys.  Now my mom and dad are gone, and Dianes mom ande dad need the help. Cant seem to get the timing right, and timing is everything, and then luck..... Heavy sigh! ! !  Well, one does what one can I suppose.

    Wow, it's really blowing snow now, and sleet. Havent seen sleet since the last time I've seen sleet whenever that was.

   Ok, I've been off the forum, and the internet for a while, due to the fact that we got SLAMMED yet again by ATT.  Another 760 dollars for streaming charges from netflix so they tell us.  we disconnected that right when we got the first slam of 500 plus dollars. We are suppose to have unlimited data, and they tell us we  do, but the streaming charges are somehow different.  I am about to disconnect everything that has anything to do with ATT, including our cell phones, TV wifi, everything.

    It's been 20 years since i retired from ATT, so I dont know anyone to call to complain to. If any of youse youtes know someone in ATT that is important, or anyone in the PUC, (PUBLIC UTILITY COMMISSION), please let us know.  All the complaint "contact us" avenues are a joke. The complaint is answered by automated dummy and goes nowhere.  Anyone out there get rreally good and reasonable service from some other company?

     You know, if ATT treats their retired employees this  bad, I'd hate to see how they treat the regular customer. 

    Ok, time for a midmornin snowed in day nap.

     Bunch O wusses...my house is at 68, ha !  Of course I have  two dogs and two cats covering me and the entire electric blanket dept from Foley's AND Joskes, AND Kaplans, ha and double ha. make that a double whiskey, ha.
We had a a balmy 26 this mnorn, it is now 30... It's so hot here, gonna have to get nekid and run in the snow!    "Martha, call the sherriff, sasquatch is runnin down the road nekid" Try to unsee that ! ! !

      Mee and the mule got out this morn to make our rounds, let the draw bridge down over the moat, check on the well.  Oh man it was cold and blizzardy, ahce cicles hangink off my mustache and nose.  Me and the dang muel almost didnt get back. Woulda had to wait fer the spring thaw to find me...oh the humanity!

    I did slip on the ahse and almost landed on me arse.  Only my superior mental and athletic skill averted disarseter.   Speaking of which Dianes cousin James Winborn, classs O 63 fell last week and broke a hip. Going to go on the innernet and see if I can find some trainin wheels or outriggers and a net to strap to my fine young arse to prevent me from falling and breaking anything, except wind.

     After me and the mule got back to the safety of the barn, I poured a cup o joe and overmaloaded the cup, pouring it all over my left hand. Never felt it, THAT'S HOW COLD IT IS HERE !   Hey Wayne, you in Texas or Minnesota?   Heard em talking about the ice floes coming ashore like it did last year when you told me about that phenomena. 

     Ok, my hands and feeets  are starting to thaw and are hurting, and my eyes are waterin. So, time to deplane. Hey Scotty,  we have to GO GET OUR PIZZA, as the wusses up here dont want to deliver to RFD America.  Bought Digiornia, or however in the heck you spell it, and you can tell it isnt delivery, and also isnt very good eyether. But it's hot.  I doctor it up with my own SUPREME TOPPINGS, habeneros and jalapenos, sausage, bacon, 8 different kinds of cheese, rotel tomatos, chilis, pepperoni, plus many more and others too.......
