Teddie Jordan

Go, Yukon Klondike Wayne, potato salad preparer, and dolphin and bear whisperer! And your fearless, trusting bride. It will be a great adventure.

I know you're a pacifist, but I think you might want to pack a little heat. My motto is, what would Cephus or Geiser do?

Wayne, darn, we're going to miss you.  You better be at the next one in October (Fall Fling)!!  Or maybe we'll have some sort of gathering before then.

Your trip in June to Alaska sounds fantastic, but do watch for the bears, we want you around for many more years.  Have fun and keep us posted.  Hope you find some golden nuggets! Keep on dancin' with the dolphins in Aransas Pass!

Hugs

WOW JENNY...but then when you're involved, we wouldnt expect anything less.  Since youre a good mystery solver, maybe you can find my motorola cell phone ear piece.  I took it off, somewhere, and I guess it was raptured up by the cell phone gods. Oh well, I found another one I lost, so score is 1 up.

Hey Kay, glad youre feeling better. I've just now rejoined the land of the living.  Havent felt like doing anything except laying around dozing. Since I dont sleep at night, I sleep whenever I can, wherever I can. I am better, not 100 %, but semi ok, but Diane has it now. Not as bad since she doesnt have funky lungs like mine, still hacking and coughing.  I had this last year and in previous years. I just attributed it to funky lungs, but sawbones Doc Holliday called it "VIRAL BRONCHITIS"...not much you can do about it, just eat good food and drink good drinks and sleep if you can, and let it run it's course. He says lots of folks have it.

Surgery is now scheduled for 11 this Friday.  Sure be glad to get it behind me.  First week recovering will be not fun!  And this is just minor foot surgery, except for the cutting of the achillies tendon and lengthening it and reattaching it with some nuts and bolts.  Be flat on my back for first 3 to 5 days or more, with foot elevated. He said "NOT TO GET IT WET, SO NO SHOWERS"....sponge baths.....Folks, I dont do sponge baths, I've got to have a hot shower, and in the absence of that, a cold shower.....OMG, dirt will be piled up a foot thick everywhere on my person, I will stink to death....oh the humanity!

I'm thinking maybe I can get a plastic garbage bag, and stick my foot in it, and duct tape it to my leg, maybe several garbage bags....and keep it dry that way....Diane will make a run to the Army/Navy surplus store and pick up some g as masks to hand out should any of youse youtes decide todrop in and say howdy.

We sure have had some beautiful days up here in the rareified air. Sat and Sun were potentially going to be bad, but we dodged not only a bullet, but an atom bomb. whew, lucky lucky lucky us.

My mind is already planning next party up here on wolverton mountain.  I'm thinking mexican food.  We cook great mexican food, and also spaghetti.  No one needs to bring a thing, just yourself and your appetite.

JUST SAY WHEN....

oK, running out of steam, gonna lay down a while and check my eyelids for holes...

Keep Jackie and family in your prayers, she lost her cousin Scott Crowe in an accident. He was 56 and principal of Klein HS, and much loved by staff and students alike. Jackie says he was one of the good guys.

see ya...

Post Script;  Happy fishing Wayne. Jimmie Lee, Diane is going to start thawing the banana pudding you left for me, this Thursday. Doc Frahkensteen says banana pudding is necessary so the heel will heal. I sure dont want to go agin the doc now do I. I'm already preparing my palate for your delectable delight.  I've occasionally opened the freezer and gazed upon sleeping beauty....

Jackie,

I am so sorry about your cousin, Scott...think I heard of it from a local.  Was he on FM149e near Drifters?  That truly was an accident, he turned into a driveway and everyone else turned with him.  They all want to ride the FM 3090 and the FM 149E andW (where I live), love to hear the buzz of the bikers on weekends., that's why Drifters is there and then they drive home.  I've witnessed cycle deaths in front of me, and heard of so many more..on FM 244 and FM 3090.  They are such great bikers, just one move, can turn into tragedy.

Jackie, you and I have gone thru so many tragedies.  We are tuff old birds. Again, prayers and blessings if it was him, he truly enjoyed the wind, freedom and risk they all endure.  Our bikers at Yankees, give to our Senior Center here in Anderson each year, so our Seniors can eat good food.

Jackie Crowe (Finch)

Sweet Kaye, thank you so much.  We are still not clear on how it happened, but know it was in the Spring area close to his home on Thursday, March 30 around 10 p.m.   After the services Friday, we'll understand.

Scott was just a big lovable guy that gave so much love to his family, friends and Klein students, faculty and admin, he exemplified God's LOVE!  All of the heart warming tributes that have been posted on his Facebook are so touching.   He leaves behind his sons, Aaron and Travis.  His wife, Marla, died 10 years ago with complications from her gastric bypass surgery.  She, too, was a love, she was Drama teacher at Klein and the students adored her.  Scott just focused on raising his sons and never dated or remarried.  He said Marla was his true love soulmate, he would never find anyone like her.  As tragic as that was, he always had a beaming smile on his face.  I'm just so sad that his sons are in their 20's and have lost both their parents, Scott was their rock.

God Bless!

Hugs

Hi kay, Jackie, et al...just a short note here....got a lot of work todo today to prepare for when I wont be able to do any work for the next 2 months. Just gonna kill my soul not to be able to git er done !   Oh well, kay sarah kay sarah....I just love those names dontchu?   Anyhoo, I will get on tonight and catch up on all the goings on on the hill and down in the Brazos valley.

Sugery is at 11 in the AM, so I'm gonna be busiern a one eyed long tail cat in a room full of rocking chairs today, speaking of which, the wind was so strong yesterday, it blew one of the rocking chairs plumb offin the porch, and took the cover off the barbecue pit and decided to cover tthe plants with it.  Winds got a mind of it's own.

Had a visit today from two wonderful ladies, classmates, picking up an item from the lost and found. I know thye just wanted to stay a short minute, but I kept em way yonder longer than they probably wanted to stay. Showed em a YELLOW indian paint brush, didnt know there was anything but erange ones. We were just thrilled to have them visit with us today.  We are already planning next party on the hill. If it was up to me, I'd have em every other weekend, just as long as it was you folks that showed up.  Thinking about maybe having a potluck party....Ronnas idea, and also what Diane wanted to do last time, but noooooooo, I overruled it, but not next time. I'm thinking potluck is a wonderful idear..,..

gotta go crank up both tractors and chainsaw and weedeater so see yall around sundown or sometime hopefully before midnight....

So there you go....

Please keep our dear classmate, Glenda McDonald, and her husband, Larry Smith, in your prayers.  Her mother, Nettie McDonald, passed away yesterday evening.   She had been in a coma for a couple of weeks.  Funeral arrangements have been made and the Celebration of her Life will be Monday, April 10 at noon at Chapel of Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home; reception following.

Glenda and I have been lifelong girlfriends and her family and mine were very close.   Nettie was my second Mom --- I have so many happy memories of her and the McDonald family.  Read my profile and you'll see.

Rest in peace my sweet Nettie.  God Bless.

Beau,  we so enjoyed our brief visit with you and Diane.  You two are the cat's meow ( if that means the best ever!)  your home on the hill is so wonderful and the wildflowers are awesome.  Thanks for showing us the yellow paintbrushes!!!!!  Our best thoughts and prayers will be with you and your surgeon tomorrow.  Be patient, stay down and be sure to do what your excellent caregiver commands!  She is great!

Beau Wann, Jr.

Hello? Anyone there? Of course you are.  I worked my buuuttocks off today.  Got half done of what I wanted to get done, but twice as much done as I would have under normal circumstances.   Yeah, you math majors figggger that one out....you may remember it as  "little Mary had 7 apples, she gave one fith of them to little Beaucephus, who also stole another twelth of them. The IRS confiscated half of Little Marys apples so, how much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a chicken and a half laid an egg and a half in a day and a half..." or woids to that defect ! ! !

I'm so hungry, and have only 30 minutes in which I am allowed to eat anything. I want to eat, but I dont want to eat. "Little Mary had 3 double cheeseburgers...."

The weather up here has been absolutely phenomenaly good.  Saw ol sol peek up over the far ridge here in the Brazos Valley, with his bright and vibrant soul, bless him!  It was 44 degrees, not a whisper of wind, save a sweet lick on the ear by my sweety pup Dixie Belle. Goodness, she is such a love.  Both she and Jack were at my side as I sipped on a steaming hot black cuppa Joe. Almost heaven for me...nay, it is heaven!  Couldnt imagine what more a body could ask for!

The visit from Ronna and Linda was just wonderful even though it was short. I did my best to keep em here. Went out and painted some of the indian paint brushes yellow....nah, but I would have.  I'm glad they stopped by, and also glad they went to the Brenham Grill at the Ant Hotel, a very very old hotel, still in bidness.

Just had a breakfast taco!  Seeing as how I wont be able to eat for another 15 16 hours, and they did say I could eat up till midnight, which I did! Just following instructions!  Ok, where was I...oh yeah, I make the best breakfast tacos in the whirld!  Just saying!

Got a lot of mowing done, and putting things away, got about a quarter mile of hose reeled up on 3 reels. Got to have that much hose to get water to the bottom of the hill to water me ladies flawrs and fill the animal water tank up for the critters.  I think I'm ready !  At least work wise. Cant mow the rest of the hill because of the bluebonnets and paint brushes. They have started producing seed pods, but not yet time to cut them!  I've never seen so many seed pods before on the bluebonnets. Still lots of blooms.

I've been  distressed because I wont  be able to get on the tractor for at least 2 months, unless I'm a faith healer!  While I was pondering what and how I was going to be able to get the hill mowed, out of the blue my old college roomate, Jimmy Stockton, called me and told me not to worry about it, he would come and take care of it. I told him what kind of tractors I had and he is familiar with them. Problem solved.

How did he know?  As long as I've known Jimmy, he has always been about the best person he could be. Always a straight arrow, someone you could count on, someone you could trust.  Some one to emulate! ! !Still is!  What a great man he is!   He has made a difference in this whirld, a great difference indeed, as so many of youse youtes have.

I'm so glad he called, cant wait to see him. Just hate putting anymore burden on him than he is already carrying!  Fortunately he will only have to mow about 5 acres, so shouldnt take too llong.

You know what I'm thinking?  PARTY ! ! ! ! !   Yeah, what a good excuse, like we need an excuse, to have a party. We can call it a "workday party". only thing is, just a little mowing needs to be done.  This can also be a post party for the last one, and a pre party for the next one!  Yeah!!!!  What a diabolical plan I have conceived...as I've always said, "a mind is a terrible think" ! ! !

I havent gotten in my spring garden this year, just gonna have to wait till early summer.  Probably just put in tomatos and peppers and onions, squash, mellons, pumpkins, kale, lettuce, brussel sprouts, jsut a few things!  Maybe I can get Diane to get some patio tomatos, or what the heck, just go to the store and buy some already growed tomatos. That will work for sure!

After I'm able to walk again, I've already told Diane I want to get a couple of llamas, a couple of alpacas, and a couple of sheep!  Oh, and some chickens and some INDIAN RUNNER DUCKS!   Our niece that lives in Kursk, Russia raises indian runner ducks for the eggs. They dont use chickens! Dont know why! She says you cnat tell the difference in the eggs, cooked!  I say ok!   Plus the ducks dont go all "broody" on you as chickens do. She says the ducks lay their eggs and just move on, because they dont care about offspring!  Hmmm, an unfeeling duck!  Bad for them, and good for us.  She says they are more suited for our climate because they are skinny ducks and can tolerate the heat.

Look them up on line, I did, they are funny looking. Dont waddle, they stand straight up and run. That's what I like, an industrious hard woikin duck!  If I had 6 ducks and they each lay an egg a day, in 7 days, that's 42 eggs....I hope yall like duck eggs!

Now about the llamas and alpacas and sheep!   WOOL ! ! ! !  Yeah, I can learn to spin it and process it and make all yall some wool pajamas, wont that be fun. Well, if nothing else, me and the llamas and alpacas and sheep can be friends.  Dixie Belle and Jack could herd them, keep em in line so to speak! The bozos next to us had 40 goats and sheep and 15 cows all on 10 acres.  Before they took all the goats and sheep off, Dixie jumped the fence and started herding the sheep. Wore herself to a frazzle. She did that twice till I extended the fence so she couldnt jump it anymore.

Another thing Dixie Belle did, was steal an egg sandwich I had made for breakfast one morning. It was a most wonderful bacon egg cheese and tomato sandwich on a croisant...oh man, my taste buds were so excited. I left it on the counter, as in took my eyes off it and left the room for just a few minutes. Came back, and that bad boy was gone!  I'm thinking, man I was hungry, and have been known to eat fast, but that was rediculous. I looked around the room, and there was Dixie Belle on the couch licking her chops and looking at me sooooo sweetly....YA LITTLE MONSTER...ARRRRRGGGGG.

Whatcha gonna do!  I guess she thought I'd made it for her, which ultimately I did!  Live and loin. I never leave any food unattended anymore!

Ok, guess I'd better stop and get some rest for the big day tomorrow. I'm so keyed up, dont see how I can get to sleep. I know, I can count duck eggs....or chicken eggs. My mother in law sent over 3 dozen eggs, and I had already bought 3 dozen eggs, and that makes at least a quorem. 6 dozen eggs, guess I'll get some easter egg dye and color em!  Has anyone found a fool proof way to peel a boiled egg?  they use to peel easy, now the shell comes off in tiny pieces and takes about 30 minutes to free a boiled egg from it's shell.  I've tried several different sure fire methods, that dont work !   Oh well ! ! !

OH, Kay, you still having allergy problems?   Well, you might be interested to know, and this goes for all youse youtes that have allergy problems....you live longer, or so I read!  If that's the case, I'll live to be 200 years old, miserable as hell, but alive!  Lemons are very good for you. 20 percent less likely to have heart problems and strokes and othe bad stuff, so all yall grab your lemons and squeeze...

I'm getting all this good ol information from my favorite magazine, MARY JANES FARM....Great periodical! I highly recomend it. Hmmm, I belive I was going to sign off....Ok, g'night John Boy...

    there you are.....

Post Script: I am having trouble replying to emails for some reason.  My reply is just sitting there with the little circle spinning. So if you sent an email to me and got no response, it isnt because I didnt try.  Thank all of you for your caring love and thoughts and prayers.

also, stop by and see an old cripple sometime.  Youll recognize me, I'll be at least 3 of the 7 dwarfs, dopey stinky and grumpy....

In Memory of

Nettie Lee McDonald

March 16, 1921 - April 5, 2017
Obituary

On April 5, 2017, after a long and beautiful life, Nettie Lee Pettigrew McDonald passed away peacefully at home with her daughter and son-in-law. She was a loving, supportive wife and a truly wonderful Mother, Grandmother and Gran. Nettie Lee's pride and joy was her beloved husband, Mac; children, Glenda and Beverly; five grandchildren; and thirteen great-grand-children.

Nettie Lee was born on March 16, 1921, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Green and Ethel Pettigrew. From her hardworking parents, Nettie learned a work ethic that she carried throughout her life. Her untiring effort in the service of her family, friends, and others was a wonder to behold. She graduated from Polytechnic High School in Fort Worth and attended Texas Christian University. After an introduction from her brother Delmer in 1941, Nettie Lee met the love of her life, D.W. (Mac) McDonald. They dated for three months, declared it was love and married on December 13, 1941. Mac and Net were blessed in marriage for 72 years. They loved vacations, cruises, family time spent in Fredericksburg and at their farm home in Bivins, Texas. Nettie Lee was active in Book Clubs, PTAs, and Girl Scouts. Lee was a seamstress, and designed her own children's clothing and costumes. Her later passion was the artistic creation of porcelain dolls. Her dolls were and are still enjoyed by many. Nettie Lee always had time for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her enormous presence will always be felt. Nettie Lee battled Alzheimer's for 18 years. She will be forever missed, but we find comfort in the fact that her gentle love, sense of humor and memories will live on with her family and friends.

Nettie Lee is survived by her daughter, Glenda McDonald Smith, and son-in-law, Larry Smith; grandchildren, Teri and Rodney Howerton, Jason and Lee Cullen Smith, Kristin and David Thrasher, Laine and Dave Santamaria, and Tyler and Morgan Scott; great grandchildren, Hayden and Dylan Howerton, Aaliyah, Elijah, Armani, Stella and Baby Smith, Finley and Sadie Thrasher, Mac, Edie and Annie Santamaria, and Ava & Duke Scott. Lee was preceded in death by her beloved husband, D.W. (Mac) McDonald; daughter, Beverly Acock; parents, Green and Ethel Pettigrew, brother Willoughby Pettigrew, sisters Liz Harvey and Lurlene Crouch and brother Delmer Pettigrew.

Our family conveys heartfelt thanks and appreciation for our God-sent angels that took meticulous care of our Mother and Father, Grandmother and Mac. In particular, we would like to thank: Bernadette Mitchell, CNA; Sharon Bastain; Shellie Anderson, CNA; Brenda Warner, CNA; family Chaplin Wayne Norman; Traditions Hospice; Dr. Simpson; Terri Woodard, RN; Sarah Beevers, RN; Vicky Presswood, LVN; Telly Cobbs, Social Worker; Chaplain Marty Ballesteros; Chaplin Sharon Armstead; Emily, PRN; Beth Grace, PA; Jackie Williams, CNA; and Keisha, CNA.

There will be a private burial at Forest Park The Woodlands Cemetery. All are invited to a memorial service which will be held on Monday, April 10, 2017, at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel of Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home with a reception immediately following in the event room.

I just got a text from Beau, he said he is home and groggy, and hungry, and hurting. I told him that he has the best caregiver in the world and to just do as she asks and he will start the road to full recovery. Told him the only thing he needs to exercise right now is patience, even though I too was apparently absent on the day they passed that precious commodity out!

Beau, so glad your surgery went well  I agree with Ted.  Be a good patient and do what Diane says  You are in all of our thoughts

Beau Wann, Jr.

Hello my God sent friends!   JAN AND MICHELE????   HOW IN THE WORLD DID YALL MANAGE WITH BOTH LEGS INCAPACITATED?????????????  Let me tell you something, and everyone of you that has been incapacitated by loss of use of one or both legs.....YOU HAVE MY UNDYING RESPECT AND ADMIRATION..... OMG this is many times harder than I thought it would be. Piece O cake I thought...yeah, a cake made out of lead!   I can do it, but just surprised I underestimated the severity!

This will be short. I'm suppose to lay flat and keep the leg elevated above my heart, and so I will, I just had to get up a short moment to take care of bidness, so I thought I'd get on the forum.

Jan, Diane talked to Byron Dardin yesterday or the day before, and he said his dad Robert died on Valentines day.  He said it was a Godsend, that his dad suffered so much.  He hadnt heard about Jeff Byers passing. He and Jeff graduated from Scarborough HS together and were great friends. Sad he was as you might imagine.

Just thought I'd let you know about Bob.  I remember Bob and Elaine invited us to their 50th wedding anniversary.  Most of their family came in from Ohio? or Illinois?  Anyway, they were all so nice and included us in everything. What a fine family! So sad to see families disband from families members passing.  I know we've all experienced that now, from HS to now....that's why we must all stay together, whether in body or spirit!

I thank you one and all for your love and support.
Ok, gotta lay down...yall endeavor to persevere....and I shall do the same...
so there you go....

Beau... I suspect the hardest part for you MIGHT be doing what Diane tells you!!!  Lol.  But I also think we will be the recipients of more of your wisdom on a regular basis.  This will keep you in touch while you are 'out of commission' for a while.  So glad that you have had that surgery and it is behnd you now....give it every chance to heal.  Bet you are tired of us all telling you what to do.

At least the weather is pretty, don't know how much you like to read, but a good time to catch up on those books you always wished you could have time to read.  remember the library probably has a BUNCH of them on audio also...get your ear phones and take a mental trip to wherever that book takes you.

Good to see you on here so soon!

Yea! Beau, glad to see you survived your operation, Diane, I sure hope your cough has gotten better. If not, here are some tips that I've gone thru the last 3 wks, feeling like I'd left the working world a bit.

I had gone to the ER on the 27th - diagnosed with "viral" illness, just wait it out, which I did. No improvement, so I called my Dr. office and never talked to the Doc per say, just the "smart (?) young women who answer the phone. Sent out antibiotics - $9., cough med $30. I refused the cough price as my ins would not pick it up. Long story short - no cough meds, except OTC for 3 days, I became my own advocate, calling them yesterday, campaigning for any kind of cough meds for this weekend.  Long story short, while trying to figure out why I couldn't get better, asked them to look at my lab results from ER to see if there was something we missed. Come to find out ER never sent report? Late Fri. pharmacy called with same cough pres. they had sent a coupon and I paid - off insurance ( I pay $200/mo for) for $11.00.  I feel the first diag could be wrong or it turned into a bacterial infection? Just a note of caution, Diane.  I am now on the road to recovery.

Beau, since you won't be able to focus much on reading, I watched every "old" movie on TV, slept in between, but enjoyed seeing the 60's 1980's & 90's.  This morning watched my nemesis, Shirley MacClaine, now she could have been my sister.....lol. I hope you both get to feeling better, and back into the bluebonnets again.  I've been enjoying eating dewberries as well.

Jan Barnes '65 (Nimtz)

Beau, with both broken feet I had first crutches and then a knee scooter. The knee scooter was easier. When both legs were broken I went straight from hospital surgery to a rehab facility and spent over a month (the 1st time) and a full three weeks (the 2nd time) before I was allowed to use a walker and even touch my foot to the ground. The wheelchair was a breeze! Could you use one of those? I certainly empathize with you and all others with temporary mobility issues. We think we are so bad off until we see someone who is permanently disabled in a wheelchair or someone struggling to walk for the rest of their lives or someone with no legs at all. May God bless them all, and give us the strength to make it through a few weeks/months of inconvenience. As everyone has already told you, just listen to Diane and you will be fine. This won't be the easiest thing you've ever done but the Good Lord will get you through it. We are praying for you! And thanks for the news (although sad) about the passing of Bob Darden. He was a good neighbor and CO citizen for many years. So, just hang in there, Beau, as you have a lot of friends rooting for you.wink

Keep calm, Beau.

It's hard, not being able to act like usually.

Today was the first day for me jogging in this year. 9 days in a prison called hospital. Had a virus infection called Pericarditis and I had to be careful. But I really did not like to be careful, but Barbara is a doctor  and it was not always easy to follow her instructions. But it might be necessary to do what she says.

Try to follow Dianes instructions. It might be hard sometimes but it works.

Best wishes from Berlin!
