Wow, thank you Jan. We were going to say the same thing about yall. We feel like we've known you for ever. That was so cool that yall actually took the time to stop by and say hi ! Thank you again ! Talk about class with class. And Graciousness! We are so blessed ! ! !

I'd like to see that "Sully" movie, but will have to wait till it comes out on DVD. I cant sit still for movies ! My back just wont allow it. I have to keep moving about, sit, stand, walk around, lay down, go to the mens room, sit, stand, walk around, lay down, go to the mens room etc, well, yall get the picture. Plus, I wouldnt know how to watch a movie without a cat or dog in my lap or one of em needing to go outside at a crucial moment in the movie. Gotta have the pause button, and I dont think they would let me bring in a dog or cat, or pause the movie just for me.

Man, I looked so old in that picture, didnt I ! What the heck happened? Cant wait for opening day and play a little ball....danged little. It was 103 Saturday and Sunday, and 101 today! Of course not weather channel official, but official enough for me. Going to have to cool down at least 40 degrees or more before we open er up. Shucks, maybe it'll snow ! Well, we got that covered, we have an American Flyer sled !

Ok, time to deplane ! My lungs are acting up...yet again! I thought they would wait till at least Thanksgiving, or Christmas, or at least when the weather changed, but nooooooooooooo, feels like I'm trying to breathe underwater, without the help of scuba gear. Plus, lungs are hurting, man, I hate this, every year seems like I have to fight to breathe to stay alive ! Well,, been fighting for breath since I was born, so it's nothing new. I kinda thought it would ease up a tad though....that's what I get for thinking eh!

Well, it did it again ! ! ! Windows did an update and wiped out what I was typing on the forum. I forget it updates around 3 AM. Too long to retype. I should have put it on documents and cut and pasted it...woulda shoulda coulda....I'll just bid yall a good morning and let it go at that. It was 103 here Saturday and Sunday, 105 on Tuesday, and a balmy 100 on Monday. Musta had a cold front !

went to my Sawbones, Doc Holliday. He prescribed prednisone, again, for my lungs and pain. So far it aint done diddly squat, cept keep me awake. That's great, I sleep too much anyway. Why, I got a whole hours worth of sleep just last week ! ! ! I dont feel as fatigued this morning as I did yesterday and the preceeding 4 or 5 days. Man, it took all the strength I had and then some, just to get to a standing position ! ! !

Gonna have an ultra sound on my neck today at 11. Seems it's swollen and sensitive ! Been like that for sometime now, I told the Doc about it sometime ago, and also maybe another doc too. they didnt seem concerned about it when I told em, and now they are. Great, probably a brain cloud ! ! ! Or a bunion on my brain. Been doing a powerful lot of thinking lately so that's probably it, a brain bunion !

I've got too much to do around the manor, to be laid up. Started on the split rail fence down in the valley on tother side of the crick, yesterday. Need to mow stuff, and then some. Found an old wine rack! My beloved is going to turn it into an "herb" rack ! Just a little sanding and some painting required, and it'll be good as new !
plus need to do a few odds and ends on Coopers field.

Phone was actin a fool, so went to ATT to get them to fix it ! They fixed it allright, deleted 90% of my pictures and ALL, AS IN 100% OF MY MUSIC! What the shucky darn good is it to have all this technology if it keeps messin up??? Cant be me of course ! I'm way yonder too smart ! ! !

Ok, I'll sign off, I believe I was going to do that about 5 paragraphs ago.

Well ok then, I will start setting aside time to work on my novel of short stories. Like I've said, and the bard will back me up on this, writing, is a whole nother ballgame. I guess you could say it's got it's own "Field of Dreams".....that and a Strict discipline.

My problem, is once I start something, I want it finished NOW ! ! ! Like the character Jack Nicolson played in "As Good As It Gets", I dont want to be disturbed once I start something, especially writing. If nothing else, moving up here to the manor, in the wilds of Chappell Hill, has taught me that finishing anything before it's time is done, is almost an impossibility.

Outside, most things are dictated whether the weather will be cooperative. that seems to be a 50/50 propositiion, in favor of Mother Nature. When the weather is dry, I work like a mad man trying to get as much done as is humanly possible. Then for a few days after that, I'm too tired to do anything. Pace, timing and luck are the thrree "Rs" of woikin ! I'm learning, but it's slow. I've always been behind the learning curve of everything, even life! But what the heck, it's only taken me 71 years to figure that out. .

But, I think I'm leaning towards disciplining myself to the art of writing. That chore has proven to be much better than felling trees and digging up stumps, keeping the crick clear of debris, fence building etc ad infinitum!

I've talked to a few folks that have "garage published" (self publish), and they say it is as easy as pie! Now, they dont say which pie, but guess I'll figger that out soon enough. Pie really isnt easy. The first pie I ever made, was under the tutelege and watchful eyes of my mom and my wife. I got it right, but was guided by knowing hands and minds. It was an apple pie ! The crust came out perfect. The apples and filling is not near as critical as the crust.

Thanks Terry, when you make it down to the "Field of Dreams", bring your banjo, and I';ll tune up my flat top and we'll have "dueling banjos". Also will have your apron and name tag to help work the concession stand, and an extra glove just in case you need to go in and rescue whichever team is woefully behind. I think I'd rather work the concession stand instead of playing ball. That's where the food is ! ! ! Well duh! ! !

I heard from BroBeau that he completed his ultrasound test and would hopefully get the results tomorrow. We all pray for good results.

On another note, we're back from our Carnival Cruise to Cozumel! Lynn, Barbara and I took a cruise along with Lynn's daughter, Kaye, and another friend of Lynn's, Jamyee. It was a 70th birthday surprise by Lynn's daughter, Kaye. We all knew for months and months, but had to keep it a secret until her birthday in July. That was realllly hard to do!

Our cruise started out of Galveston on Sept. 15 and returned Monday. We also celebrated Barbara's birthday on Saturday and my good health report. We had a lot to celebrate!!!!! It was a blast and we all returned safely!!! Hugs

A BIRTHDAY CRUISE ! ! ! YEA FOR THOSE ! ! ! Happy birthday Lynn and Barbara, and what the heck, happy birthday to Jackie too as well also....It's her birthday sometime, and why not celibrate now.

Guess what ladies? Yup, the fireflies are putting on some kind of birthday special just for youse youtes. They are just going crazy blinken and winken at me. there is something so magical about fireflies. Everytime I see them, it's like seeing them for the first time ! ! ! Maybe someday all yall can come up and enjoy the show! And, dont get me started on the show the stars are putting on. Wow, must be a gazillion of em, that showed up just for your birthdays.

How bout that harvest moon? It's like my birthday up here everyday ! Well, cept when I get snakes on the screened in porch. Killed three of em, two on the porch and one off the porch. Dont ask me what kind they were, I dont care. There is no good snake, cept a dead one, or a non existent one. shudder and yuk ! AND ON OUR SCREENED IN PORCH TOO. HOW IN THE NAME OF GOMER PYLE DID THEY GET ON THE PORCH? We've tried home remedies for repellents that are sure fire to work, cept they dont!

Heard somewhere that moth balls will keep them away ! The 18 wheeler full of mothballs should be here any day now.

Did a lot of mowing and weed eating and general all round work here today, and with only 1 hour sleep last night. Charged the battery of the Hummer and got it started. Anyone want to buy a 1903 hummer? Anyone anyone????? Got a killer Bose stereo system in it.

I didnt think those prednisone pills were doing doodlely squat, but they must be working, because I have some energy back. Still hurt, and lungs still hurt, though not as bad. Main side effect, is heartburn. I'll bet I've had a dozen tums today and 85 gallons of ice water.

Cephus, keep doing what the Docs say and feeling better.

I'd say that is the Million Dollar Quartet. But if it were today they would no doubt be the multi billion dollar quartet. Elvis, Jerry Lee, Johnny Cash and Carl Perkins. Fran and I were fortunate enough to be able to go to Jones Hall a few years ago with some friends and enjoy the play of the same name, based on the one time that these four talented legends were able to be together in a recording studio in Nashville and jam. It had me tapping my toes through the whole play.

Hello all my wonderful classmates! I just finished reading the past several entries on the Forum and am delighted to get caught up on all of you who have posted recently! It is always a bright spot in my life to read the Forum. How fortunate we are to have each other.

My mother celebrated her 100th birthday on Saturday. Her actual birthday was yesterday, September 25, but we had it a day early to make it more convenient for our traveling family and friends. I have added some pictures to my profile if you would like to check them out! We had her party at Brookdale Assisted Living in Temple where she lives...55 friends and relatives showed up much to her surprise! It was definitely a family reunion for all of us! It was a wonderful occasion to celebrate my mother who is so well loved!

What a thrill to celebrate your mom's 100th!!!! Tell her Happy 100th from all of us! Loved your pics, your mom looks fabulous, she certainly doesn't look her age.

I guess the longest longevity in my family so far was my Mamaw Crowe. She lived to be 98 and her health only started declining the last 6 months of her life. She enjoyed every moment, traveling and visiting her 9 kids, many many grandchildren and many great-grandchildren over the years, cooking, gardening, walking every day, reading (she was always up on the current news), playing cards & dominos, she was a character and truly an inspiration! We loved her dearly!

Been workin like a madam...er, correction, madman tryiung to make the deadline of the opening of Coopers memorial baseball field....dont know when that will be, but must have a deadline somewhere around here !
Got the front of the place down by the crick and the road all cleaned out and put up a 2 rail split rail fence. Looks danged nice down there now. Decorating for the scarecrow festival, then all heavens gonna break loose for Christmas!

Speaking of Christmas, do you know which store already has their Christmas stuff out? Give you a hint....
the big W....yup, Walmart....I dont shop there, but my beloved goes in there from time to time to see if she can find stuff. They skipped right over halloween, and thanksgiving, and jumped right to Christmas. And what better season is there to make folks want to spend money? YUP, CHRISTMAS...Why, you didnt think they did it for religious reasons did you? Well, they did, for their religion, MONEY ! ! ! But, what the hey !

Havent been on the computer in a while, been hurting too bad and too tired....Doc Holiday gave some prednisone to me, 5 day prescription, and for two days, I actually felt good...havent felt good in years! Then of course, I started feeling bad again! You know, sometimes you have to feel bad to know what feeling good is! Right?

Some danged far aints bit me yesterday, and the funny thing, if you can call it funny, being attacked by far aints, the funny thing, or strange thing aabout it is it doesnt start burnin like far until about 3 in the Mornin AM. Then of course, it's time to get up and do the far aint daince, and apply lotions and potions and ice to the offended area.

Would you believe I slept for 5 hours straight last night? Yup, of course I was up at 3, but I'll take that any ol day. Just been settin in my ol easy chair, got to set in it easy because it might fall apart. Got so much duct tape holdin it together just might put a patent on it, it looks so good! Have to put a t hrow over it, or else one just might get stuck to it.

Already had 3 cats, at different times, snooze and pur in my lap this morning. Fixed a pot O Joe. Man, does that smell good on a frosty wintry morn. Speakin of which.....WEATHER ALERT.....

OMG, WILL THIS WINTER NEVER END, IT JUST NOW THIS VERY MOMENT, 5:25 OF AM, HIT 55 DEGREES....

Now I can break out the jackets and vests and coats, and sweaters, uh, no not sweaters, dont like em because they make me sweat ! ! ! I guess that's where they get the name sweater, because they make me sweat, er....

My mind loves winter, but my body does not! Got the sled all warmed up ready for that first snowfall. Trying to talk my beloved into getting a snowplow, you know, just in case it does snow. We'd be the onliest (east texas for only) ones in this county with a snowplow, or probably the whole state of Texas for that matter! But hey, one cant be too cautious, can one ! ! ! !

5:30 AM....another our and a half before sunup....I sure do like the daylight...never did like the dark, caint see a danged thang...now, because of my advancing years, I really caint see a danged thang....Pretty much blind, and deaf, what's next to go, smell? I dont think I smell that bad, not really! We dont use sweet smellum much up here in the wilds of Chappell Hill, because bees and bugs like it, and I dont like bees and bugs, so I''m danged sure not gonna give um any encouragement. Of course far aints dont seem to care if you're wearin cologne or not, cause they gonna bight the heck far out of you anyway, sweet smellem or no !

I did put on a little ENGLISH LEATHER the other night, just to see how it smells....smells just like I remembered it, ENGLISH LEATHER. When we do go out, and not to plow and mow, but to actually go to a fine eatery, that isnt spelled WHATTABURGER, I generally wear Old Spice! Well, I'm old, and spcicy sometimes....OMG, IT'S A MAJOR HEATWAVE, IT'S GONE UP TO 56 NOW....oh the humanity ! !!

Ok, I'll sing off for now...I'm getting sleepy, even after 12 cups O very fine JOE....
Ok, now wehre did I put that Gingham dog aand calico cat...ah yes, there they are....purrrrrr snore....

Jackie, glad to hear of your good health...the Lord is with us.

Beau, sounds like you are living my life, baseball field sounds great. But you will have all you can do just to maintain the place. I inherited this place here in Anderson, worked locally, bought a manufactured home and have worked my a.*** ever since. Used to own a 1/2 ac 2000 brick home off Grant in a quiet subdivision, thought I would retire here and live in the woods, and read, work part-time, came up here w/lotta money. Guess what after 50 yrs. of working, struggling, today went out to cut small trees, everyday is something, I've finally mowed, for the moment...lol. never ending, now I've got moles, etc. Winter poses different problems altoghter, and I'll be wishing for spring, yes, dogs will be in house most of time,,,cleaning furiously My lady in my church pased away, so back on me own...loved being a part of her German family...but have been enjoying the firefilies, beautiful sunrises, sunsets, extreme quiet, clean air. Never feel like I'm getting ahead.

I do enjoy watching golf though,,...

What you are describing is the reality of the so called idyllic country life. I just got back from several days of hard work for slaves wages on my country place and right now I'd sell it for a hundred bucks and whataburger no. 1 meal. But when the exhaustion and the sore muscles go away I'll be back down there trying to catch up on my chores some mores!

Hey Jan, I plan on putting a couple of rows of corn around the field next March...key woid is PLAN...GONNA DO...well we will see what we will see....Yup, john, it wass 54 degrees frahday morning....time to break out the Hudson Bay 4pt jackets/coats and the bout du nords....rabbit fur trooper hats and long johns...First day I smelled the fireplace/wood burning stove smoke wafting down from the high country......It was soooooo nice...sat in the front pasture at the top of the hill with the dogs and watched the sun come up...they were so warm, one on each side of meself...they snuggled in close....what unmatched beauty....One more day to thank God for....

KAY ~! ! !!! ! So good to hear from you....I sure know what youre talking about with the work....we started off way behind, so we will never catch up....Did get the place mowed last week, and with the cool weather the greenery should start slowing down on it's growing. Now I've got 50 pounds of rye to plant and 100 pounds of Austrian Winter Peas to get in the ground. The rye is for beautification and the peas are for the wildlife and corrosion control.

Finally got my citrus trees in the ground in the orchard in back...Lemon, lime and orange....planted 5 crepe myrtles down along the road by the creek...got the split rail fence in, about 300 feet. planted some liriope (sp) and some PLUMBAGO, which is blue and plum beyootiful. I have passion for BLUE flowers for some reason.

Of course, I love all colors of flowers, but blue...."Lion and blue" ....I had a plastic cube with BLUE MORPHO BUTTERFLIES from south America, but they got damaged in the move. had em for over 40 years. I guess it was time to let go of em. Bought em at a craft show in Austin back in the 70s, when Austin was still a nice place. I wasnt going to buy them if they were harvested alive. They assured me that they had died of natural causes and were then put on display....

Kay, if you have nothing to do, come on over to Chappell Hill to Wolverton Mountain....we can throw the softball around. Of course I have to throw it underhanded now, both rotator cuffs are damaged beyond all repair, especially my right one,, my throwin arm. My son Bill and his wife Juliette came out for Dianes 36th birthday and we threw the old large sphere around. I got out my old Ted Williams glove....it shrunk, wont hardly fit on my hand anymore.

Juliette is so cool, just loves everything and loved the baseball field. She thought it was the coolest thing ever. My only problem with her, and it really is one to overlook, is she talks soooooo fast. Me being hard headed and hard of hearing, I have toask her to slow down and repeat everything. I had a Puerto Rican Girlfriend back in the 70s, and I thought she talked fast, but Juliette has her beat by a mile and a smile!

Kay, if you get lonesome for company, come join Diane and I on the front porch. We're always up for company! House may be a wreck, but company we love! You wont have to miss petting a dog or a cat, cause we got plenty O them rascals to go round!

I was sort of thinking, maybe doing the country thing wasnt such a good idear. We will never get caught up, and then I think, what's "caught up"? If you run out of things to do, you can sure go down hill health wise real fast. I've seen that a lot with folks. Some oldtimer oncet told me that he'd rather wear out than rust out...now that ahm an oldtimer, I see the sound wisdom in that! If I sit around too much, it makes it that much harder to get going again.

Kay, youre one of the folks that actually give back to others, with you taking care of your little old lady and all. Gods work for sure. Met a family up in Brenham, Faske is their name, they own two jewelry stores, one along 290 and 36 and one in downtown Brenham. Talking about putting their money where their mouth is, they have adopted around 20 or 30 special need kids. Talking to Mr. Faske, and the first daughter they adopted, was a delight. There is a family picture hanging on the wall in the 290 store of all the kids and Mr. and Mrs Faske. They are actually younger than I ! ! ! Hells bells, nowadays, almost everyone is younger than I ! ! !

Today I'm "baching" it. Diane has gone into the big city to visit her church and her folks and an old childhood friend. So me and the animals will try to stay out of trouble. Maybe, since this is a day of rest, maybe I'll do just that, rest! But, knowing me as I do, I'll probably get busy doing something. I just havent been able to totally stop doing...maybe I can find something to do that I cant mess up and otherwise have to do two or three times!

Got a fresh batch of sweet tea made, AND some lemonade AND limeade, so I shant be lacking for riparian refreshments.

OH OH OH OH OH, I MADE A WHITE CAKE WITH CHOCOLATE FUDGE ICEING, AND CHOCOLATE FUDGE CUPCAKES WITH BUTTERCREAM ICEING FOR DIANES BIRTHDAY YESTERDAY....had to throw that in, becuase they actually came out GRRRRRRREAT ! I wanted to make em from scratch, but chickened out because scratch made cakes have so many ingredients and if you dont do them right, can be a big mess, sorta like me ! So I relented and bought Betty Crocker cake mixes, and they turned out swell !

Homemade manilla ice cream and cake....hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm, doesnt get much better than that !

Dianes mom and dad gave her presents for her birthday, as to be expected ! Except one of em is not a present from where I stand, or sit ! It is a 3 foot long, glow in the dark, 750,000,000 piece PUZZLE...of New York City....NEW YORK CITY???????????????????? GET A ROPE ! ! ! of all the things to give some one, why give em a box of aggravation, and of NEW YORK CITY, for crying out loud ! ! ! ! Glow in the dark? Well, at least you can turn off the lights and find the pieces you've dropped on the floor!

You have got to be absolutely crazy to give something like that for a gift, unless you hate the person you are giving it to! Onliest (east texas for only) puzzle I ever liked was one of Winne the Pooh, and about a foot square, with 4 pieces. I generally could put that one together. I've always hated puzzles, because everyday I wake up and LIFE AND LIVING was and is a puzzle, with about half the pieces missing! Why in the whirld would I need more aggravation, on purpose????? For fun????? NO NO NO MON AMI ! ! ! No puzzles for me.

Ok, gotta get out into the wilds of Wolverton Mountain. Gonna start on that book, or two of em at the same time, very soon. Looking at a new laptop, one just for "book writing"! no internet, outernet or twilightzone! This winter ought to be a good time to start. I've really allready started, getting my stories all lined up and ready to go. If I submit it to a REAL publisher, do they want it double spaced or any special format? Guess I could ask one of em. You think they would talk to me? Guess the onliest way to find out is to talk to them, eh what!

I do hope all yall and families are being able to enjoy today. Do something nice for yourself for a change! Mostly all our thoughts and prayers are for each and everyone of us....

This is hard to read - but it's Jon Enloe's orignal writing of our "Waltrip High" - May 8, 1960. This was a picture I took from the presentation screen in school auditorium during Waltrip's 50th Anniversary celebration

Jon's story --- Joe Stuessy had already composed the music, but Jon had not written the lyrics. One day Mr. Cotton questioned him if they had finished the song and he lied to Mr. Cotton and said "yes". But that lie backfired on him --- Mr. Cotton asked to see the final version by the end of the day. Of course he had not written one single word. At lunchtime he wrote the lyrics -- not having any paper on him, he tore the last page out of his Webster dictionary and wrote the words to our school song! Amazing story we never knew!

Thank you two for your response, I guess country work inspires us all....I can't believe I by my lonely have actually lived here since 1995, resigned from Houston NW Hospital and began an adventurous life out here. For the first 10 yrs. I was so crazy about working myself to the bone here and working full-time, and sharing all with the grandsons. I didn't even know time had passed by so fast. Last 10 yrs have gone by a bit slower, but I witnessed and cared for the Schwedes, and became family. Mr. James died 2014, Charles, the son, I found b/c I was helping with him, had a blood clot after surgery and I found him in the bathroom, which left his blind mom alone, so I helped care for her, since Charles could not, til she passed away Aug. 4th. They were very devoted to our church, everyone knew of her. Couldn't ask for a sweeter person and family. Played piano and sang christian songs for the nursing homes here.

I agree with you....New York....WHY? Houston would have been so much better!

I concur with the fast talking, I personally think they are in the cute stage and think that is the way to talk.....I run when I hear it.....there is a "cute" weather girl on KBTX, wears the most expensive clothes but talks in that collegiate way...ugh, hope she loses it as she does have a brain.

I hope you have luck with the Plumbagos, my fav from Oak Forest homes...I did'nt nor azaleas. Rest assured crepes will grow anywhere. Of course, I have all the Lantana and irises I can endure. I do have some quince trees I bought at Sutherlands in Brenham.....love 'em. No fruit, but the blooms in winter are beautiful.

Happy birthday to Diane. I hope she prizes the wonderful life out there as you do.

I am looking forward to the Madisonville Mushroom Festival in Oct. 22nd, been there the last 10 yrs.

By the way, I was hoping we could encompass all your responses here on the Forum, that would be a book treasured by all. And as I've said, you could catch a job at the Brenham paper with all your antedotes of country life and animals. You are a regular Leon Hale.

The weather is beautiful, I'm thinking we get two mos of absoluted astonishing weather and leaves urning and them go straight into winter, I appreciate the invite, think I should take you up on before the weather makes us stay in. I have renewed a friendship with a golfing friend in Katy, may call and stop by on my way to Katy sometime. Hope you got rid of all your antiques from the Mall.

Forgive me brothers and sisters, for it has been many moons since my last post………

Turned 70 this summer and that is OLD, no longer ‘middle aged’ or any other soft pedal, simply old! I looked down the other day and saw two skinny, hairless legs with skin that looked a lot like crepe paper! What happened? Do those things belong to me? I‘m not even gonna’ mention my aches and pains as I suppose we all have our maladies and should feel lucky we are still having birthdays as opposed to the alternative and so far, knock on wood, my ticker is still ticking.

I need a new car/SUV to drive and typically feel good about the prospect of that new car smell or in my case, an almost new car smell but then I got to thinking that this would not be my next car but since I drive them till the wheels about fall off, this would probably be my LAST car. As a result, I am still nursing the same old P.O.S. SUV I’ve had for 15 years or more.

I’m back in Aransas and had a pretty good summer up North, the weather was pleasant, drove to Chicago to see the Americas Cup 30+ mph catamaran/hdrofoil sailboats off Navy Pier in June, went to Duluth Harbor to see the tall ships in August and last weekend went to see the heavy hitters (Tiger, Phil, Rory etc) at the Ryder Cup held at nearby Hazeltine Golf Club where my nephew is the Ass’t Grounds Superintendent (aka Bill Murray in Caddie Shack), all great events to witness.

In September, Frank Lynn and wife, Jane stopped by our place for a couple of nights at Lake Wobegon on their way to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA), a protected area (no motors) along the border between Minnesota and Canada where they spent a week in a remote cabin – sounds like they had a good trip. Frank and Jane have lived all over (now in Austin, TX), are both altruistic and accomplished individuals and we are glad to know them. Again, thanks to Jackie et al for the web site and coordination of functions that bring us back in contact with our old class mates.

Speaking of Lake Wobegon, Garrison Keeler retired this year from NPR (got to see him one last time recently in St. Paul) and one of the Clack-It Bros died last year (don’t remember if it was Click or Clack) but as a result things are not the same on NPR, kind’a like the Tonight Show without Johnny.

I’ve been reading posts about the Imperial Guard and have to say, that whatever Miss Lee put in the cool aid that you all drank must have been powerful stuff as it resulted in some very strong, determined women and I feel proud to know you all.

Speaking of powerful people, I am not thrilled in the choices we have in the race for the White House, it appears that the most appropriate place for the leading contenders is the outhouse instead. We, as a nation are better than this and deserve more, I thought I found a winner in Gary Johnson (L) cause he says he would stay out of the bedroom, bathroom and our pocketbooks until I realized I probably know more about world politics than he does! Is there a None of Above lever?

Regarding Cooper Memorial Field, I have a suggestion; Beau, how about hosting a Spring ’17 ‘NW Houston bragging rights’ grudge Co-Ed softball match between Waltrip and Reagan ‘64+/- 2 years – no fist fights, just fun and beer, of course. We should win with character/ballers’ like Larry ‘the don’ York catchin’ (maybe sittin on a milk stool cause of his bad back), Jimmy ‘Hoffbrau’ Hilsher at first base and back-up Fire Marshall, Skeeter ‘splits’ Apostello at short stop, Henny’s significant other Roric ‘Heater’ Harrison pitching (I am sure he can find home plate from only 60’ away) and also designated hitter since one of his professional claims to fame is that he was the last American League MLB pitcher to hit a dinger, maybe some guys that look like they can still move around without assistance like Lance Corporal Kupec (if I can talk him in to it), Teddie ‘Wild Life Management’ Jordan in case of bunny rabbit invasion, Lynn ‘hot rod’ Pruitt, Lynn ‘top hat’ Roff, Tony ‘meat’ Maddox, Allen ‘packin in plain view’ Gieser, Tom ‘tall man’ Gann, Brian ‘nearly as tall’ Copeland and Robert ‘log cabin’ Derrick, how about Sammy ‘the speedster’ Montalbano as substitute runner and some athletic women like Paige ‘cupid’ Talley Meeks and Jimmie Lee ‘still lookin strong’ Smith Brawner etc., etc, etc. I can man the beer cooler and hand out towels, Beau can you be in charge of parking cars, concession booth and the 5^th inning dragging of the base path? We will probably need the following Medical Support: Dr. Red Duke’s Life Flight chopper on standby, Henny in charge of the onsite cardiac care unit complete with defib machine, a deep muscle masseuse, a chiropractor, a full medical kit for thin skin abrasions and Constable J.C. Mosier for crowd control.

Speaking of sports did you see (on ESPN) where Mr. Bert Roth’s legacy Rice Marching Owl Band (MOB) is still up to it’s old tricks making fun of Baylor’s recent Title 9 problems and Pres Ken Star’s debacle at a game in Waco?

I think I have more to say but can’t remember what it was, so will sign off for now.
