Beau Wann, Jr.

YEAAAAAAAAAA SISTER JACKIE......outstanding....

Ok, going to try to go to sleep now. Diane is concocting some kind of brew in her caldron....I havent slept in years, just an hour here and there, and of late, not slept at all. Dont know why I have insomnia.  Cant seem to shut my brain down. I am driven by projects, and things that need doing, and being productive, that I keep going over and over all the things that I need to do, and how best to do them. I just cant stop!

so, shutting the tv off early, not that I watch that much, but it is on. no coffee or any caffiene after 6 PM. Light supper....Ive tried chamomile tea and melatonin, drugs and alcohol, all to no avail. the drugs make me sleepy, but so paranoid, I cant go to sleep. Alcohol, well, it doesnt work like it use to.  I was goihng to buy some L-tryptophan today, but they only had one bottle and it was 20 dollars. Small price to pay if it works.  Instead, bought some "beddy by, or sleepy weepy drink.    Dont worry, The resident pharmacist already checked out the ingredients and found nothing objectionable or with an allergic reaction.

I have got to get some sleep, I am cratering. I guess you eventually shut down and die I suppose if you cant sleep, but I had other plans on hanging around a little longer.

If any of youall yall have any remedies that actually work, I'd love to hear them.

I cant take anything with antihistimine in it, and most sleep aids have that as an ingredient....

Well, a hot shower awaits along with my new sleepy drinky, so I will say goodnight, and really hope that it will BE a GOODNIGHT.

Troy, that is so cool that you are teaching grandchildren of our classmates.  During Dianes 38 year tenure as a teacher, she taught 3 generations of children.  Dont think she taught any of her classmates children or grandchildren.   Teachers should be the highest paid profession of all....

Once again, YEAAAAAAAA JACKIE.....See what love can do !

Well, wish me luck on trying to get to sleep....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzI hope! ! !

Beau, if you have trouble sleeping TRY taking a baby aspirin before going to bed. If it doesn't work you aren't risking anything. Good Luck. you sure the rain water and the creeks rising around you in Chappel Hill is not getting to you? GOOD LUCK

Jackie Crowe (Finch)

BroBeau, well I hope you got some sleep last night!!!  Have you tried muscle relaxers?   When I was in pain with chemo treatments, that is all that worked.  Not that any of my muscles needed relaxing, but it would just knock me out.

You've got to get some rest before our August 27th gathering with you and Diane, which is coming up soon at Spring Creek BBQ!

Hugs,

Bj Brady '65

Brother Bo-

I have the same sleep issue.  My Dr, prescribed Klonopin and later the generic Clonazapam. I just take an extremely small dose - ,5 and go to sleep with it under my tongue. It is covered by my Medicare RX plan and is not expensive. It has been a true miracle prescription for me. I have been on it for several years.  Before that, I would go to sleep and then wake up an hour later and no way would be able to go back to sleep. I know how frustrating this can be.  Add this to your "options" list and I trust something helps you.  Love ya, BJ

08/19/16 10:16 AM #8108

Beau Wann, Jr.

Hey John, Jackie and BJ, thanks for the info. I tried the concoction that I got from HEB, called sleepyhead, it made me sleepy, dont know if it was psychosomatic, power of suggestion, or if it really did the trick. I slept for about two hours, fitfully, because Sammy the cat was crying. I threw him out on the porch, and then slept from 2 till 6:26. Longest I've slept in years, except for my surgeries.  I wish I could use the stuff they use to knock you out for surgery.

I tried the SLEEPYHEAD concoction again last night, and the night was a disaster as far as sleep goes.
The brew tastes like caramel, but I think it made my stomach hurt all night.

I dont think we have any baby aspirin, baby, but will get some today.  I think we have muscle relaxers, think?, hells bells, we have two pantries, and one of them looks like the drugstore. The problem I've found with muscle relaxers, is that they put my innards to sleep, ie bladder, kidneys etc,. then other problems arise.....I believe I'd rather not sleep than have the other problems.

Hey BJ, does the, whatever you are taking, have any side effects?  Any known listed ones?  If it is medicine, and has a side effect, I GET EM, regardless whether I know about them or not ! ! !

Maybe I just dont have enough faith ! ! !  Maybe my relationship with God isnt strong enough !    Heaven knows, I've discussed this problem at length with God, all night long for many nights many years.   We discuss lots of the books of the bible !  I've talked to Mathew Mark Luke and John, Isaiah, and really argued with God about Samuel and why he allowed David to steal Bathsheba from his friend and General Uriah !

Stealing Bathsheba was nothing compared to having his friend killed at the front lines !    To me, thats the most heinous crime and sin of all.  He threw out the 10 commandments.   And Gods punishment to David and Bathsheba was KILLING THE BABY?      What the heck kind of deal is that?  What about the child?  It didnt count?   And Herods slaughter of male children 2 years and under, hoping he would kill King Jesus as well?

Ok, I've got to tell you, that sort of stuff, just confuses the heck out of me. I know you are suppose to just accept Gods wisdom and whatever comes from God, good and bad.   I'm not God, thank goodness, but if I had been, I believe I'd a come down and physically slapped the crap out of david and bathsheba and allowed the child to live so that the parents would have to put braces on their teeth and send them to college, and let em move back home....

I know, the next child they had was Solomon, and he was a good king, but my little pea brain just has a hard time with illogical things !

So, you see, I'm pretty much up all night discussing with God,  why this and why that...etc.   I guess that's just the human in me.  I do discuss this with Diane, and she is about as smart and knowledgeable of the bible as can be.  She usually can talk me through these things I have trouble with, and show me the error of my ways, sometimes.     She has been a member of Oaks Presbyterian church since 1956, she was 3.  She has been on every committee and chaired every committee dozens of times.  She generally listens, whereas I run pell mell, helter skelter shouting "the sky is falling the sky is falling"....guess you can just call me chicken little.

I know the real answer....FAITH....you must have FAITH...that is the key, the only key to understanding and also the key to the door of Heaven....God never promised that the road wouldnt be bumpy, just a smooth landing !  But I'm ok with all that stuff, just not getting any sleep.   I keep thinking that I'm awake for a purpose, like maybe staving off trouble in the middle of the night ie indian attacks, pirates,  bear attacks, bunny attacks....that's why I have dogs, to wake us up and warn us of impending danger...

Speaking of Bunnies, Diane has found a "rabbit nest" in our front yard by one of the flawr (east texas for flower) boxes.  And much to my displeasure, it has 3 baby bunnies, still nekid (any dialect for naked) and eyes not opened yet.   She had to build em a fort so the momma rabbit could get in and not the dogs. Jack will kill them the murderin cur.

Then it rained, and filled the hole up, so Diane is out there in the storm pulling, Winkin Blinkin and Nod, yes they are named, groan...out of the nest and putting them in a bucket lined with one of the good towels and grass and all sorts of dry and warmth....hells bells, I dont even get to use the good towels...jeese! ! ! !

She wants to show them to me, and I run away. I dont want to raise any more aminals.   It's bad enough she has already named them and letting them use the good linen !   Then, she asks me how to take the water out of the hole so she can put them back in so moma wont miss them.   Oh lord,  I guess I will have to go get my wet/dry vac....maybe she wont think of that....

Know what she did?  Got a turkey baster and sucked the water out of the hole. She said it worked better at that than basting any turkey.  I said, " good, dont put it back in with all the other utensils" ! ! !  She assured me she wouldnt!

Now she wants to know what to line the nest with....why cant I go to sleep?  I've got to take care of the bunnies, that's why.   I tell her to put a couple of layers of small pebbles in the bottom of the nest, that will keep the water drained, and hell, take one of my "flight jackets" and stuff it into the hole along with my good socks and underwear and just about anything else she can get in there.  Heavens, I sure wouldnt want the bunnies to be uncomfortable.   I did build a roof for them out of a piece of plywood. I didnt have any shingles or tar paper, so the piece of wood would have to do.

I did ask her if that was ok, and she said I could go to home depot and get some tar paper and a shingle and that would be ok.   Uh Dear, they dont sell just one shingle, or one piece of tar paper. Thank goodness we have a metal roof, or she'd have me up on the roof in the storm tearing one shingle off the house to make a bunny roof ! ! !

I know, why dont you just bring em in and set them by the fire place, why, I'll drag a dead ol tree in and chunk it in the fireplace and build a fire for em and put up a sign for momma bunny to come on in and she can take care of em by the fire. And shucky darn, she can just stay there and hey, why not invite all her friends in, yeah, that's the ticket....!!!!!!!!!

Momma bunnies nurse their young around dusk and dawn. Other than that, they stay away to keep predators away.  Last report I've gotten from Diane on Winken Blinken and Nod, is that they are doing ok, got more fur, eyes still not open yet....swell ! ! ! !

I wonder if I'm gonna have to have braces put on their teeth and send them to Bunny School ! ! !  I'm not buying them a Bunny car, I draw the line at that...maybe a scooter, but not a car! ! !

Oh no, I just thought of something, what about Easter?   I'd rather eat the boiled eggs than hide them! Will they hide them, or search for them?  Guess I'd better start studying about the care and wellfare of bunnies....

She was discussing with me about how to keep the rabbits out of the yard, and I gave her my idear, I have two Rabbit fur trooper hats from LL Bean. I told Diane I could put one on a stick and hang it outside to warn other rabbits that if you trespass, this is what you will end up as,    A HAT ! ! !   Of course that earned a look of disapproval from you know who!    Ok, I know what I have to do once the baby bunnies are gone!  I will have to put up chicken wire now at the bottom of the fence, to keep the rabbits from procreating in the yard and leaving us with the bunny support!

Diane took a turn around the place, ie front and back yard, and Cooper memorial ball field, and she tells me that there are bunnies everywhere. I look, and there are two at home plate, one at pitchers mound and one behind the 1st base bleechers........AAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGG, NOT ON MY BALL FIELD YOURE NOT....GET OUUUUUUUTTTTTTTTT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now you see why I  cant sleep...tilting at windmills.....

Heavy sigh! ! !   your frien and the bunnies best frien, Cephus the chicken little...

Beau, you might also try Melatonin to help you sleep.

Teddie Jordan

Cephus, my advice is to quit taking those naps during the day. I guess I have never been a real napper, but I  have been known to doze off sitting in my chair every now and then, usually on a Sunday afternoon. But anything longer than about 20 minutes messes up my sleep patterns. And your deep sleep at night is much more beneficial that the shallow sleep of a nap.

08/21/16 08:10 AM #8111

Beau Wann, Jr.

Naps, short though they may be, is about the onliest (east texas for only) time I can sleep.  Although I haven't been taking too many of those.   But I'm working it out.  I asked God if maybe he could work on all the problems of the whirld and was it ok if I took a break.  "Sure" says he!  Although all this rain still has me worried about losing our bridge. It's the only way in and only way out. Cant even get in or out on foot.   Oh well, maybe God can add that to his list of worries, low on the list, but still on the list.

Bob Hope says his key to longevity was taking naps!  He lived to be 100 or so. My goal is not necessarily to live to 100, as much as it is just getting the rest my body and mind need.  Well like I said, I'm gonna stop worring about it and shift it on to a higher authority.

On a sad note, Nod died !   As of midnight last night, winken and blinken were holding their own. They have developed lots of fur. Spent several hours lastnight creating a new nest for them and mom. Their hole kept filling up with water and the poor little tykes were just shivering.  Got a nice basket and made alterations so it wouldnt fill up with rain and keep the babes high and dry and also easy for mom to get in.

Now there's talk, my beloved, says we may have to go to tractor supply and get them some kitten milk....????   When they grow up, if they grow up, will they think they are CATS???  Oh well, I'm leaving it all to a much higher authority than me...Diane! ! !

it is still dark and dreary here this morn.  Sun still not up and it's almost 8 AM !  The cats are all hollaring and banging into things and wanting breakfast.  Jack is cowering in the corner of the library, and Dixie Belle is gnawing on a bone, neither one wanting breakfast. I'll bet if I made em bacon and eggs they'd eat it....well, maybe not Jack, when there's thunderstorms about, he wont eat or do anything.  He has a "THUNDER SHIRT", but it really doesnt help him much, if at all.  About the onliest (east texas for only) think that helps him, and me, is for the storms to vamoose tha heck outta here ! ! !

Ok, all you FACEBOOKERS, I've got a zillion people that want to be friends with me, and I say ok, but I  cant get into FACEBOOK to let em be friends.  I did see some of the names, and never heard of some of the folks before. What does this mean? They got the wrong facebooker? Moi?   I swear, this digical electronical age is just kickin my caboose.  I like being friendss with everyone,  and it is my belief that one cannot have too many friends. Cant get into facebook on my computer, but myne payphone will let me view, but not let me type stuff. allthough it did let me respond to the lovely Webster ladies. Dont know how that happened, and cant figure it out.  Oh bother! ! !

Maybe I can  get the brains of the outfit, Diane the bunny lady, to hep me out.  It's all my sons fault, he signed me up almost 10 years ago methinks. Havbent been on it since then. I will try to sort it out.

ok, breakfast is calling, for me to make it....

Hope everyone has as good a day as can be had on a restful Sunday.  Probably gonna skip church, one less car on the slick roads, and just hold service here. "Wherever two or more are gathered in my name, so shall I be".   I'm pretty sure there will be at least two of us here, plus the dogs and cats and bunnies, and hoping they count as well.

Keep the sun at you rsix and ride boldly ride

Very excited that Troy is my granddaughter's math teacher . She has already labeled him her most favorite teacher. I have always heard that he is a super teacher and I know that he loves kids. This is the combination that I always looked for when selecting teachers for my campus. The world is truly circuitous. Thanks Troy for being who and what you are. God is great!

Beau,

It was only a few years ago we had Bob Hope, Johnny Cash and Steve Jobs. Now we have no jobs, no cash and no hope. Please don't let anything happen to Kevin Bacon!!

Good one Robert, times like this I wish this thing had a like button. Baker would say, "take a lap Derrick!"

And prayers for my good friend Charles Burkhardt tomorrow, that the surgery will go well and that his recovery and the result will be good. He's one in a million!

Just heard from Lynn, good news -

"Charlie just got out of surgery and the doctor said all went well.  We haven't seen him yet. Hope we can go home soon."

Update on Charlie --- Lynn said they are on their way home and again, doctor said everything went well.  It is going to hurt due to scraping bone, but they were getting meds to help with pain.  He had a wound on his foot that had abscessed and doctor had to cut out and then scrape the bone that was underneath!   Ouch!

Thanks for all your prayers!

Hugs,

Advice to classmates and friends coming out to Cypress and Beau's  Spring Creek Bbq Fudds gathering today, you might check with Houston Transtar or other traffic websites for a good route. As I understand it 290 construction will have ramps between beltway 8 and 290 shutdown this weekend and there will no doubt be backups in that area.

It was a pleasure for Fran and I to see everyone at the get together yesterday. Our class is a special group of people, and we always leave feeling humbled and thankful and so glad we came. Sorry for those that had trouble with the traffic and construction getting there. Thank you for your perseverance. And our host Beau, who even though he showed up late while his lovely bride Diane held down the fort, got a rousing, standing ovation. That boy knows how to make a fashionably late entrance.

So true!!heart  It was an awesome experience to have been in the Guard.  Miss Lee, our great leader, the sound of our drums, bugles and trumpets, our many practices, the marching performances at half time and the finale our ripple!!  Wonderful friendships and memories!

Now with the new building,  wonder if they will still display the Imperial Guard case that contains all our memorabilia - uniform, song, guard pledge, pictures.   Also wonder about the Group Class pictures that have been hung in the main hallways since the beginning.  I say this because many of our football trophies and other class awards had been thrown away and Barbara Porter and Lynn Wren were able to retrieve them out of the trash some years ago.  I hope Waltrip admin and students keep these memories alive, but this day and time it's hard to say; so many don't care about our past which is very sad.

Hugs
