In loving memory of our dear classmate. Jeff Wade passed away on July 3, 1969 as a result of contracting Spinal Meningitis in Army Basic Training. Information received from Jim Taylor.
This explains why I could never find Jeff's name listed on the Vietnam Memorial Wall thinking some ommission had occured. All I knew was that Jeff died in '69 while in the army and just assumed (wrongly) that he died in Vietnam when he, in fact, was DIS (Died in Service due to accident/natural causes/non-combat related).
Jeff and I were on the track team together for 2 years and he was simply a great guy and dear friend and,
I know, would have contributed immensely to society had he lived.
