just thought id drop by for a minute to say 'hey'.things are going fair here, taking some getting-use-to as i pass out from time to time.went to the e.r. and it seems my blood pressure falls when i stand up,dr.cut one of the fluid pills and the lasix in half.just these kind of things i get to thinking about.phillp passed out in the kitchen on the way to get a drink of water, died that night so i am paying attention.i hope ill recover enough to come into fudds in feb.i am scheduled for back surgery again on feb 25th.my meds should be all adjusted by then;coming off the blood thinner and some others, what fun;hey,i sound like an old fool.what can i do?i guess ill buy some rose-colored glasses and move that wonderful haven for humanity;lets see was it afganistan or that half/island of the tonton macoute(uncle gunny-sack )who would "disappear" anybody who disagreed.how can two places be so different and so much alike.my heart goes out to the poor people but they dont stand a chance against the total corruption.before anyone starts shedding any tears for the taliban,go back in resent history and witness the slaughter of women in the socker stadium, set aside for just that purpose;if a woman even talked to a man that wasnt her husband, anyone cought making or listening to music.bill moyers needs to get a grip.this aint no la-la land for whites who go native;the taliban is the taliban,it cannot be refined.
burgess has been turned into a zombe by voo-doo and is back to haunt you.yeah, all we need in this country right now is about 100,000 tonton macoutes[for those who dont know who they are, they were the 'civillian defence force'under 'pappa doc' and 'baby doc'in haiti(those who dont know what the hell im talking about need to get that old book on murderous dictators and dust it off)it was a militia like only could be found in total darkness].ask yourself why on the very same island, the people of the dominican republic dont have the violence and stark poverty;it all has to do with power and the rough who sway it in that heart of darkness.i dont believe that god caused the earthquake as some may but one must look at the big picture.the u.s. should govern that intire island for a while with the assistance of the dominican republic.what a mess.a destablizing mega-mess.we pay,no matter what;all the politicians are coo-coo-ing us into that.where is the rest of the damn world.let them chip in for a change.we always try to help and all they want to do is destroy us.
in my opinion, afganistan would make a lovely vally there at the edge of civilization.we dont need it,'they' can have it,forever and ever, god bless thier hard little hearts.
humpty-dumpty

p.s.
i dont pretend to know all the problems that plauge poor haiti;they have had corrupt governments for so long that it will take our pulling them out.they are too close a neighbor to let down.i just know a little biit about human nature and thousands of them are going to come here when we have enough poverty to get a handle on here.this is a crisis that must be handled correctly.i hope the best and watch.ill donate and thats about all anyone can do.

Passing out is the weirdest thing! I instant your upright then, after some unknown interval you wake to find your self on the floor in some bizarre position with no idea how you got there. Happened to me after my heart surgery. so be careful brothers and sisters.

thanks lloyd,im more careful when i stand up now;it seems the blood-pressure drops enough to starve your brain.really not a good feeling, as you said;there is no control over it.im adjusting my meds and making sure i get plenty to eat;ive dropped so much weight and also fluid that my system just shut down.im glad it wasnt a heart attack.

upon reflection i have to make a comment on what i said about bil moyers.i used to watch him all the time because of the many interesting people he had interviews with.after a while it became so academic and he had a tendency to second guess his guests.in the academic world, the golden rule is "publish or perish"and he provides a forum for old and new.as for the "going native"comment about mortenson, that was unfair;as you see on my profile there are many vietnamese and i became very attached to them.building bridges between cultures is by no means easy because of prejudice on both sides.it was my prejudice against the taliban per se that prompted me to comment.i have become jaded in my thinking because of the violence that has permeated my world;wishing that it would disappear from the world completely.but that is just wishful thinking;im a burnout and i recognize it for that.people who do good work and who become enthusiastic about what they do should be encurraged not disparraged.i made a mistake and i hope no one is offended;i know that lloyd and kay think highly of mortensens work and i have seen him on some other venue.my appologies.

Again Point well-taken, Burge. I realize. as others here that you have experienced life, as so few of us here on the forum, and I think we read your comments knowing this and appreciate that you can share from your life experiences as well. After all you guys contribute to making me think and keeping my polital awareness current. And as for you, Beau....a grain of salt.......TinkerBell (here)

Beau Wann, Jr.

A grain of salt??? for what???? Salt is bad for you!!! No matter how you take it!!! Dont compromise your principles!!!! Character does matter!!! What were we talking about that I need to take a grain of salt with! dont know that I was being particularly hard on anyone or anything, except corruption and evil! "He that has the power to hurt, but does not..."the bard. Now that would be refreshing in a whirld of power mongers!!!

Don't take it personally, Beau. Typing without thinking, it happens in Tinkerbell's world. Oops, got a response from you, really not thinking, Dismiss it...... you are our Commander! Pirate Paige...where are you, you know I can't think w/o you....LOL.

What I like about the forum:
1, I can make contact with high school friends, even though we are separated by time and distance.
2. I saw many people in WHS, but I regret that I did not get to know more about each one of you. The forum helps me to do this.
3. I like to hear the views you all express. I am not bothered if you are red/blue, religious/not, straight/gay, pro-this or pro that. I hope that you will share with me and in turn listen to my ramblings. If some time I skid off the road, well just chalk it up to my nature and wave a light so I can find my way back.
4. We share a common history and the forum helps us share a future.

Keep writing!

Lloyd and all, I really appreciate your comments, you've eloquently expressed my feelings as well. Because my sis and I took extra summer school classes while my mother worked in the summer (school), we completed our HS credits earlier than most, so we took Distributive Ed 1/2 day and worked at Foleys and Sakowitz in the afternoons. We didn't mingle as much with the full-time students, so I am also enjoying getting to know more about the classmates on the Forum. It doesn't matter if they are '64 or '65. They share my era, history and Oak Forest memories, and I feel that is important.

As important as the country folks I live with that all grew up together, know all about each other, their cousins, parents, family hierarchy, past and present deeds. Almost no anonomity out here. Sometimes, I envy the way they grew up "in a little fish bowl type world. Most harbour disdain for Houston traffic and place us Houstonians a bit outside their circle. My church friends are mostly that, so I enjoy their stories of past adventures out here and who did what. I also enjoy my relocated Houston friends as well out here. Two different worlds.

Beau, I would not have guessed that you were to evolve to be the man you've become from the "seemingly" sentimental boy I didn't know well, but noticed, removed because of the busi-ness of my own world. Thank you for sharing your everyday world with all of us.

I would like to add, that I know several people out here that have murdered, or accidently run over and killed people here, other people don't talk much about it, but they all know, they both attend church, but I'm sure live daily with their own punishment. I have compassion for them and, of course, their victims, but I stand with the fact that God is the one that will judge and that he loves them too. It is not up to me to make a judgement of them. They are both good friends of mine and we discuss it rarely. Judas was miserable after his betrayal of Jesus. Got to go!

Beau Wann, Jr.

Good moanin waltriponians,
Kay, it is so good to read what others write than my own writing! I'll bet Judas is still miserable today! Howsomeever, Jesus did say that everything was predetermined! If Judas was picked by God to betray, then it was just his job! Maybe he was forgiven! Will we ever know? Jesus did say everything is forgiven, except blaspheme against the Holy Spirit!

How bout them oilers? I wonder who will win the election, Truman or the other guy? You know what Ford needs to introduce? A car called "Edsel"!

Anyone gonna get one o them eeelectrical cars for 40K?
It will take you 19 years to realize any savings on fuel! Anyone got a 19 year old car? Well besides you hotrod boys and girls! Youse guys could make a washingmachine turn in the low 11's!!! Mustangs and vetts dont count! You got one of those old ones, you gonna take care of it, I know!!!

Would like to have a 1958 thru 1962 vette! If any of youse youts have an extra laying around, heres my address... Silly rabbit, you cant send a vette through the U S mail!!! Ok, email it to me!!!

Onliest thing about owning antiques and the like, they actually own you! And thats how we wind up with multiples of the samest things!!! This year, gonna get rid of a lot of flotsam and jetsam!

My daughter-in-law, wife of quick draw magraw, her sister taught at Travis elementary, and now at Oak Forest Elementary! How wierd is that, I went to both of those schools! Wow, coincidence? I dont think so! Pre-destined-destiny!!! wasnt that a famous western character, "Destiny rides again"??? Hmmm!

Made homemade cinininiminumum rolls this morn for breakfast! They are easy to make! Just peel the paper off the roll, and tap on the counter, and the cylinder opens up and you pluck em out and place them in a well greased pie pan, and heat at 400 gredees for 13 minutes, and then apply the topping, and voila, homemade ciminiumimiuiumum rolls!! I have such a time with that word!!!!

Of course with my "most excellent coffee in the universe", the rolls were grrrrrrreat! thank you Tony!

Got to get the little woman off to work this morn, and go out on patrol with Cooper!
Yall need to be thinking about the 50th reunion, seriously!!!
Have a prosperous and relaxing day!

Each year for Christmas, my brother Harry gives me a calendar featuring Labrador Retrievers, and each month there is a quotation relating to dogs. This month's is, "Dogs are our link to paradise. They don't know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring, it was peace" - Milan Kundera.

I have always believed that dogs and children are two of God's special gifts to us.

I must add though that we all have seen a little jealousy come out in our dogs, and discontent too. But they definitely don't know hate, or prejudice, or many other of our human failings. They aren't perfect, but they are a lot closer than we are.

Theo,
Maybe thats why I get along with critters so much! I dont have to worry about saying the wrong thing, or taking them to a crumby restaurant! Heaven knows, my thoughtless words go tripping over my tongue and out my mouth, like a bullet out the end of a gun! Once you fire it, you cant take it back!!!

They dont expect much, or more than you can give, but will take all that you can give! My boys are a little jealous of one another! Not enough to fight over it, but they push and shove to get next to me or DW! they really push and shove when Haley or Taylor are over! Where ever Haley sleeps, both boys are there, one on either side of her! They take turns patroling the house at night, when she is here! I sit and watch the love flowing both directions! Fills the heart to bursting!

Just this morn, sat on a hillside with the beautiful Cooper! We watched the cranes fish for mudbugs or minnows! Dove as big as chickens filled the trees across the bank from us! Mr and Mrs Redtail Hawk were hunting overhead!
Me and Coop just sat and listened to the water rushing over the rocks/concrete, and everynow and then the hawks would screech! At first Coop is restless, but then settles down and sits and finally lays down, leaning on me of course. Everynow and then he puts his big ol massive beautiful head in my lap and looks at me with eyes, I swear, like looking into heaven itsownself!

I took my cane this time, so I wouldnt have too hard of time getting off the ground! As I was using it, and not cooper, he looked at me withthe strangest look. So, I leaned on his back and felt him brace for my weight! Thats what he wanted, to be needed, to work! Makes a dog feel just as good to work and be needed, as it does us humans!!!

If you havent watched the trial dogs/working dogs, you need to do so! There is not a more magnificent site than a working bird dog! I got to see Teddies Gus work once! Magnificent, just magnificent!!!!!

Believe it or not, a got a couple of cats with eyes that just look upon me with love! Cats are a mite secretive, and maybe just a bit standoffish sometimes, but doesnt mean they dont want or need love too! Sometimes they are like people, and dont know how to show it, or ask for it! Like the poem I mentioned sometime back:
"He drew a circle that shut me out-
Heretic, rebel, a thing to flout.
But love and I had the wit to win:
We drew a circle that took him in!"
Edwin Markham
I love that small limerick/poem
kinda thinking outside the inside box, if you will, and even if you wont!

My beautiful Turkish Van cat Lacy, sleeps in my arms almost every night! She curls up in the crook of my left arm and puts her paws in my beard and purrs in my ear! She also snores!!!! I thought it was DW, but it was Lacy!!!! Sometimes my body heat, and the warmth of 15 blankets and her fur coat get to be a mite much, and she moves away for awhile, as do I! But she comes back sooner or later!

Theo, thanks for reminding us about our beautiful creatures! Sometimes we take them for granted, as we do each other!

What a long road we all have traveled, eh!!!
Having friends like our classmates, makes the journey just a touch nicer, dont you think! I sure am grateful to Jackie for putting this web site together! Before I found it, I had made up my mind I was never going to another reunion! The 30th was the last one I went to before the 45th! Got on this site, and it really changed my life! Dont want to get sappy on you, but it really saved me, so to speak! Thought being alone in a crowd was who I was meant to be! Turned out, the crowd drew a circle and took me in...thank you Jackie! We are EVER INDEBTED TO YOU!!!!

I know I ramble incessantly about this dumb thing and that dumb thing, but if it draws someone else out, that we have something in common, besides just the class of 64, then I have done what I have intended!!!

Beautiful Cooper has his head in my lap! I think he wants me to take a nap with he and Jack! Well, cant disappoint them now can I! If I dont, they mite have to have counseling, go on Okras show and Dr phils! Cant have that now can we!

Give you something to ponder from the last lines of a poem I love:
"...There is no fear, and hell hath no terror, to change or alter a love like mine"

Happy trails buckeroos, see ya
Me and Coop

Good morning all,

Thanks for the beautiful thoughts this morning.

Jimmie Sue Roach (Nation)

Good morning one and all!

Beautiful day in good old Rusk/Reklaw. Lots of nasty weather all around us last night but not a drop of rain and no wind. We were spared once again. Lots of tornados dancing around us.

I really just wanted to say "DITTO" to Lloyd, Kay, Burge, and Beau. I guess we get so wrapped up in our everyday life that we really don't take the time to 'Smell the Roses'.

There is no greater unconditional love than that of a warm & fuzzy pet. I know a few humans that could learn a few things from them. Then again, there is something to be said about those that eat their young (just kidding of course) - it's just that in my and Kay's line of work, we somethimes understand. Am I right Kay?

Speaking of work, I guess I need to give good old Rusk Primary School their 7 1/2 hrs. worth.

p.s.

Burge, I understand exactly what you are talking about. We were stationed in Japan from 1956 to 59. I was 11 to 13 and it had only been 10 yrs since the bombs. The people were still very bitter. It was nothing to be spit upon because of my blond hair, fair skin, and round hazel eyes. Of course, there was no understanding for me - I was to young. All in all though, they were a very genteel and loving people. Also, because I was raised Air Force, I didn't have a clue what segragation was. Not until we returned to the U.S. There was no "color" in my life. I will never forget my mother telling me how different it was going to be when we returned. Oh my, was she ever right. Thinking about it now really amazes me. What a glorious life I have had!
Oh dear, have I written an epistle? Hope I didn't bend your ear (eyes) to much.

Have a great day one and all!

Jimmie Sue

p.p.s.

Pirate Paige - spread those wings a little wider! Lov ya

Good moanin kind and gentle waltripfolk,
It is a beautiful moanin weather wise eh!!!
Lots o stuff been happenin since before daybreak here at the beauzeau home, like I am sure has been happening at most everyones home!

The cats have been absolutely runnin amuck! Upstairs, downstairs and all points inbetween! I thought someone had broken in this morn and was upstairs! I thought it odd that the dogs didnt bark! I carefully chose the weapon most likely to do the job, my M1 Abrams tank, and carefully, stealthfully, and mad as hell for being awakend at such an hour, glided up the stairs! Can you imagine me gliding? Actually, I sound like a box of rice krispies on steroids when I glide!

I get upstairs, and look in the office, and the cat trees were all knocked over, along with papers strewn about! No prowler could I see!!! I checked Haleys room, and the cat trees were askance and askew, turned over!!!
No perp!!! Didnt have to check the closets, cause they woulda had to pull everything out to hide in there!

So next the game room!!!! I walk in and amazingly enough, the 1000 pound pool table is still upright and in its appointed spot! I did notice some sheet music strewn about! Opened both walk in closets! (can you imagine an idiot builder putting TWO, COUNTEM, TWO walkin closets in one bedroom????(they are almost as big as a bedroom themselves) Then not putting a linen closet in a house with 3500 sq ft??? Then putting a pantry in, the size of a postage stamp???? ) but I digress!!!
Where was I...Oh yeah, opening the closets, I find nothing amiss, if I had found a miss, I'd a been in trouble for sure!!!

Bout that time, I hear more noise coming up the stairs or going down! "How did I miss them"? I said to myself!!!
Now the hair is standing up on my head!!! Oh yeah, I forgot, I got no hair! Well, it was my phantom hair! Youve heard of phantom limb pain, from folks that have lost a leg or arm, and still feel pain or an itch in that area, even though it's not there??? Well, I have phantom hair pain!!! There's a new one for ya!!!

I whirls around and ZOOOOOOM, a whirling dervish, known as Annie-bob, was being chased by "fat boy Oliver-bob"! You bemember Oliver, our 22 pound Maine Coon??? That boy can move for being big as he is!

The two perps, were in full gallop, zipping around the room under the pool table, over the pool table, and through the other bedrooms, and then back down the stairs! First Annie-bob was in front, then Oliver was in front! I guess they couldnt make up their minds on who was chasing who!!!

I shoulda shot em both!!! I would have been within my rights! I thought that was a law, that two cats could not chase one another, tearing up a home in the process, all before daybreak!

I troop back down stairs, after I straightened out the upstairs "kitty playground"!!! Hells bells, it wasnt even 5 oclock, and now I am wide awake and just a bit perturbed!!!I Take my rice crispie noise making body down stairs and do what???? PUT ON SOME COFFEE!!! Youll get it right one of these days!!! I look in on DW and she still dead to the whirld! Even the dawgs were unconcerned!!! Shoulda took a hint from them!!! Oh well!

Time passes, after much zippin, they settle down methinks! I get to the bidness at hand, making the little womans lunch, and getting her coffee and breakfast, and filling her thermos and mine with the best coffee on earth! I take DWs coffee and breakfast into her spot in the dressing area, and hear more commotion going on, this time it sounded like it came from the kitchen!

Oh great!!!! Once again DW doesnt hear it, because she is using her hairdryer! I run, well, I hurry, more of a limp and a prayer, into the kitchen area, and pandamonium has broken out! (and I thought I had banished that Mr Pandamonium from the premises)!

Seems Annie-Bob and "Fat Boy" (herein after known as the dynamic duo) having rested sufficiently, resumed their village destroying antics! I had, moments before the dynamic duo detonation, filled all the water bowls, and even put a coffee mug, on the counter, with water in it for my little kitty Peaches, (she likes drinking out of my coffee mug, so I have to fool her and just put water in a look alike mug) and I had filled both thermos bottles and luckily had the tops on! The kitchen is under water from all the turned over water bowls and coffee mug, and both, countem, both thermos bottles were on the floor! BEAM ME UP SCOTTY!!!

I dont need this!!! Really!!! I dont know what the hell the two nutjobs got into, but I hope I find it and throw it away!!! I clean up all the water, and fill the water bowls back up, only half full this time, and pick up the thermos bottles! Good thing they are stainless steel, otherwise they would be broken! (Remember the old glass ones we had as kids? I broke many of those in my yout! I thought it was the end of the whirld when I broke one) Both thermoses were dinged up, lids and sides with plenty of dents now! I guess the nutjobs were just "antiquing" them for me!!!

Finally corralled the two perps into our bathroom! The little woman was still unawares of the commotion, asked, "why you bringing the little darlings in here"?
DONT ASK" says I!!! "JUST KEEPEM IN HERE"

More time passes, and the "little darlings" are both sound asleep! One in MY FAVORITE CHAIR, and the other upside down on the dinning room table! I know, I know, "you let your cat get on your table"???? No, we dont, and he is breaking the law, and I will soon have him arrested for it! Meanwhile, I am gonna let the little darling sleep, thank you very much!!!!!!!!!!

Little woman off to work, whirling dervishes all asleep, so me and Coop head out on patrol! What a beautiful morn it is! But I am exhausted!!!! It's not even 9 oclock!!! Help me Rhonda!!! (did we have anyone in our class named Rhonda??? I love that name!!!)
Down the street us two Dapper Gentlemen stroll, wondering if the dynamic duo is rearranging the house!
Well, we will cross that nuclear disaster when we come to it!!!

We get down to the "crick" (it is actually cole creek, but most folks just call it a bayou. I think Cole Creek sounds better, dont you???) and lots of activity from the nature community! Trees full of fat doves and othe birds! Cranes and other long legged and long necked white birds wading in the crick looking for breakfast! Oh, cool, one has a mudbug in it's beak!

A few turtles come to the surface for some much needed o2! I believe I axed this question before, where do the water turtles hibernate? Surely they cant do without o2 for 4 months can they!!!! There is even one huge turtle, that has flippers, looks kinda like a Kemp Riddley model, but they are saltwater! But it does have very distinct flippers, and a long long neck, sorta like the invaders from the 1950's movie with Gene Barry, I cant think of the name! Drat!!!

Well, back on the road to the nut house, me and Coop side by each, just enjoying the moment! GLORY BE, ANOTHER TREAT!!!!!!!!! Two Coopers Hawks, gathering nesting material! What truly magnificent looking creatures they are!!! They are both sitting in the same tree! They are huge!!! Well, compared to a sparrow, they are huge! Remember now, "everything is relative"!!!
They really are very large! Looked em up in my bird book!

Back at the nuthouse, and all seems normal! Well, normal for us! Floor not wet, thermos still on counter, nothing upside down, except Mr Fat Boy Oliver! Well, I guess I have taken up too much of your time reading this drivel! Sooooo, I will adjourn to my truck and run errands!
Remember, "only you can prevent forest fires"!
Goober says "Hey"!
