You are sooo right about the Chicago mafia!

It is going to take the wisdom of Solomon to put these two diverse airline groups together and make it work.  I'm not sure the corporate culture at either company will allow that to happen.  I expect that customer service will take a backseat to ever increasing fees.  I would not be a bit surprised to see a bankruptcy or government bailout within two years.

But then again, I am an optimist.

IT DID IT AGAIN!!! I EVEN TYPED A SHORTER THAN NORMAL ENTRY, AND IT JUST WENT AWAY!!!

This is getting disheartening, to put so much thought and effort into something, and just have it all go for naught! Maybe it's a sign, to go away...heavy sigh

Mornin to all you Waltripians. I traveled a little last Friday. Went up to College Station to see my niece received her academic hood that goes with her newly awarded masters degree. Makes me feel great to see a little girl I coached in basketball moving on in the whirld. She has a job at Washington University in St. Louis starting June 2nd. I couldn't be prouder if she was my daugther. Man we had to drive through a frog strangling rain getting there. Then drive through a steady rain all the way home. It was worth it but I was whipped when I got home. Bu the puppy was well rested and ready to play. Anyway one of my uncles went to A&M in 1943 before he went in the Army Air Corps. We heard some very interesting things from my uncle. It's amazing when he was a student there were 1500 Aggies and there was no town of College Station. College Station was a train stop. Anyway it was a good gathering of several generaations of family on both sides of the family. We all went out for dinner afterwards.  Good time. I waved when I went through CS, Navasota and Anderson but since you Waltripians are smart folks you were probalby inside out of the rain.

Okay now to the puppy. The name she responds to best is Lizabeth (Liz for short). i tried the usual list and even some off beat ones, Fatima, Goofus Rufus Whizbang but Liz it is. We had a funny episode Friday night/Saturday morning. About 12:30 she had to go out. So she's out doing her business and looks over...there is a full grown possum coming through the bars of the fence...Liz does a double take and is hurrying to finish...I started moving towards her because I figured she was going to go attach this critter...wrong again...just as she finishes she turns to the house and lights a shuck...so I just opened the door and she whizzes right on by, through the den and into the living room. She wasn't having anything to do with that monster. I just shown the flashlight on the possum and he went on his way. Liz had that look on her face of "feet don't fail me now"!

One thing you can count on in the Continental/United merger is that the Co-CEOs Smisek and Tilton and their upper management teams will make out like bandits whether it succeeds or not Just remember that they're big dogs and the public and stock holders are fire hydrants.

I hope everyone has a super week!

Keep on dancing,

Rich

Rich the LH,

I caught the wave from ya.....was rained out of my grandson's last baseball game, so joined a few friends, and watched it rain at a local pub! Does my heart good to get the rain, even though our autos sled around in it on the farm.....those Aggie families were all out and about this weekend.

I went to a really nicely done and interesting bed and breakfast (3) just south of Bryan on Sat. It was just filled with Aggies.....Morningstar Farms.  I was looking at their minature Dexter cows for sale, and also saw min. donkeys, goats, just "scads" of animals.  The Aggie families were all out (Sat.- no longer any rain) and walking around the farm and animal buildings.  It is a quality place to go.

Congratulations, Richard, on your niece!  Sorry, that you had to endure all that unexpected rain, however.

Burge - last night I was drving back listening to the radio and this guy was describing (from his book he says based on FACT) time travel the pentagon? developed around 1970's and were successful in moving people a few years into the future and back and also into 2045 (guess that means we will all still be here, earth that is, and Earth was in good shape) and that Pres. Carter, Pres's Bush and Bush were all told they would be USA pres. some day (Lil Bush was in his 20's) and it came to be.  Have you ever heard anything like this?  Is this actual? His book sells at a discount rate through Amazon, I did not get the name....tell me this is fiction as I may have missed something there.

Hey Beau,

I'm trying to find out what the heck is going on with the "javascript" thing!  I'm so sorry you lost all of your input -- yes, that is ver-r-r-r-r-ry frustrating.

What I would suggest for now -- that before you submit  - you highlight and copy your input -- or type it in Word - Save to a file and then highlight and copy into the forum.  At least in Word you will have it saved  ---

Hang in there -- we'll get this resolved.

Also saw your sis and Shiloh, beautiful name, we honored her and one of the kents sons, going to med school, one of joans sons, grad high school...My beloved and I both taught all these kids, in sunday school, when they were just kindergartners, or roundabouts!!! Watched Shiloh and others grow up from bratty kids to smart productive handsome young men and beautiful young women they are today! Most all the guys are well over 6ft tall. Must be the water!!! Shiloh is absolutely delightful!!! Those of us that watched them grow from infants to who they are today, couldnt be more proud of them if they had been our own children!!! we actually had 48 people sunday! if two more of you all hadd come, we woulda had 50 and declared a quorum and referendum!!

Heres a name I heard last night that my brain wont turn loose of...ALSTAYSHA...Good southern name!!!! I wonder the origin of it!!!! the spelling is the way Closed Captioning spelled it!!!! I like Shiloh too.

Dont fret about it Jackie, it's probably my computer, or maybe it IS A HINT for me to shut up and go away...and I was having such a good time too...

DOD if we want you to just shut and go away. . we'll just come straight out and say it.

Yep Liz really was a dinker when I found her. She only weighted 3.3 lbs. She is up to 5.3 now. Just cute as she can be.

Kay I appreciate it that someone caught my wave because I got real wet when I rolled down the window to wave!

Have you ever though about it. . .what would really help solve a lot of our problems would be if we had more adults in the whirld. I don't mean chronological adults either!

Just have a dandy evening fellow Waltripians

Howdy doody waltripmoanians...HEY, I DID IT, PUT A SMILEY FACE. Who knows, I mihgt just master this furshlerginer computermoanian nafter all!

Yall can thank me for the rain last Frahday and Satuhday! Washed the ol ford truck, wahtud the yahd, and put wahtah in the cement pond!!! Why ah spelled all that stuff thataway, is beyond me!!! we got 4 inches of welcome rain!!!

Changed the bedroom around whilst my beloved was in her BETA ETA meeting Saturday! Well, I started it, and strained my back some...DUH...so I had to stop and rest awhile! I was planning on having it all done when she got back! Didnt happen!!! She came in, and walked past all the mess, squeezed by one of the mattresses, dug through stuff for shoes and then asked me if I would help move the mattress from the closet door...Never once did she flinch or go tsk tsk tsk, or roll her eyes or even act like something was amiss!!! I mean, everything in the sleep chamber, was askance and askew, and other wise tore all to hell and gone!!! Boy, she is a trooper!!!

Left again, for church garage sale, then came back and hepped me put it all back together! She even likes how it is arranged...me too...sorta...

Me and the boys been on many patrols, and even wrote about, but good ol "java script" wasnt havin any of it!!! Me and the boys did notice a lot of Easter Lillies in full bloom!!! Whats up with that???? It is way past easter, is that even legal for them to bloom???? Is this suppose to be easter, instead of when it was???? My beloved says that all the easter lillys in the church and flawr shops, are greenhouse grown!!! We have this conversation every year! But, I dont remember them blooming this late!!! Also on the street behind us, next to the vacant lot where the house burnt down, there are the most beautiful and deepest purple gladiolas I have ever seen in the whirld!!!!

Did I already mention that I saw both Mr and Mrs wood duck???? they didnt get washed away, but the other mama duck and babies, nowhere did I see them! Boo!!! I do hope they found a safe port in the storm! Cole crick was up about 20 feet, as it usually is when we get that much rain! Flushed out the stagnant water!!!

HEY!!!! Bought me one of them new fangle stainless steel barbecue pits, got 4 burners and a side burner. Lowes had em on sale! Our old one is up at the ranch, along with the Oklahoma Joe smoker! I dont have much luck barbecuing stuff! Generally comes out like burnt hockey pucks! Of Course my beloved says it is good, whatever it was!!! But, I know better, and she just being nice! I really got the pit for her, cause she likes fresh fish, but I wont let her cook it in the house! That is about the only thing I am unswerving about! The smell of cooking fish and cooked fish in the house makes me ill for many days or weeks to come!!!

No amount of spray ever gets rid of the smell, at least to my satisfaction, just adds to the stink.    Got it already to go, and forgot the propane! Anyone know the best price for it??? I checked with lowes and they are high, krogers is 39.99 then 16.99 for refill! Academy is also high!  Randalls doesnt have propane, and not all krogers have it either!! I did notice that randalls has some pretty good meat on sale. Didnt buy any, just window shopping! I really wanted a cup o joe and a donut! Donuts they have, coffee they dont!!! Whats up with that???

At least krogers has koffee, even though its from some kinda rube goldberg machine! not normal coffee! Costs .50 cents, too! Lets revue shall we; Randalls good donuts, no coffee; Kroger ok coffee, donuts not good!!! Anyone wnat to start a grocery store with me, with a coffee shop, with great schnitzel and stroodle???????Pie and cake????? ok, the little womans home, and she is dragging, had a rough day! Maybe I'll cook supper...hmmm...what shall we have??? Cant use the new grill, no propane...whatapane...

be back later, good Lord willing and the Java script dont mind...

Beau,

Empty new 20 lb propane cylinder - $26 Sam's Club

20 lb propane - A B Gas 4722 W18th at old Hempstead Highway  I'm not sure what a fill costs, but it seems that the initial fill is more so that they can meet some city government mandates.

I'm sure that the trade out stations are OK, I just don't trust them.  I would rather own my own tank.

By the way, you might as well buy two tanks up front.  Inevitably, you will run out of gas in the middle of preparing a marvelous feast on a holiday when you cannot find anyone open.

05/17/10 07:07 PM #2638

Beau Wann, Jr.

Jim, you are correct sir on having dueling propane tanks. been there done that!!! I have been using ABC ever since they have been there! Did you know they took over the spot where "THE DONUT HOLE" was! OMG I loved those donuts! There should have been a national day of mourning when they disappeared!!!

I stopped by ABC today, and they were very busy! Dont know whats up with that!!! A run on propane???? I will check back with them tomorrow! Did you notice the date on the side of the cylinder??? that is the expiration date of the cylinder itself!!! They also will not fill it if it has rust on it, and I dont know of any cylinder that doesnt at some time get rust on it! Thats why I was kinda leanin towards doing the swap system!!!

Hey Jackie, how do you put a photo on the forum??? like you did of coop and the bear at buccees!!!!! I have clicked on every icon on the tool bar, and even went to the left at upload photo, and promptly lost what I typed!!!

I tried cut and paste, but it doesnt do anything, and search...nada...

Oh well, guess I will just eat ice cream...

TIME TRAVEL????

Methinks it's a viable carrier for molecular teletransportation!!! Why just this very drippy morn, me and coop did us a little time travel out on patrol!!!  Well, with coop, I'm not perzactly shure just where he is in time! Mostly the lights on, but nobody's home!!! Now I love him no matter what, but that ol boy...

Me and coop traversed down the cement path early, and all the squirrels were busy looking for their nuts...that they had burried...acorns, ok??? anyway the squirrels were scurring to and fro, the boids were hippity hoppin and chirpin looking for the early woim!!! Sawr some honey bees on the oderiferous gardenias and other flawrs! The smell of rain in the air...Train whistle in the distance...I'm still looking through the same eyes and hearing through the same ears and sniffing the sweet smells through the same nose as when I was a boy, some 60 years ago...Time Travel???? maybe so!!!

Waters in Cole Crick, pushing white caps, probably a F7 on the, "man that water sure is moving fast", white water scale!!!!  Ducks, hopefully, found a safe port in the storm...coots playing U-boat commander...Mr and Mrs Coopers Hawk, perched on the high wires, drying their wings...mourning doves hootin from one end of the "hundred acre wood" to the other!!!

Time travel...certainly seems possible, that is if you dont fight it!!! How many streams and rivers and lakes have we all crossed...fished in...swam in...we've all crossed many a bridge over rivers and streams...and troubled waters, to borrow a phrase!!! I remember the first time I crossed, "ol man river" hisownself (the mighty mississippi)! that was sometime back in 85 methinks! DW and the boys and I were on our way to washington, DC for our first vacation as a family...yea!!!

I had read so much about the Mississippi river, Tom Sawyer, Penrod and Sam, Huckleberry Finn...and all their exploits!!! The closest I ever got to "ol man river" when I was a wee lad, was visiting my cousins in DuVals Bluff, Arkansas, just a few miles shy! Oh, I dont know how many miles it was, but we were east of Little Rock by 60 miles or so! The White river flows through DuValls bluff, (I dont remember if it's DuVall, or DeVall, no matter) , and I was so excited about going to my cousins, because I was finally going to visit the River of my dad and uncles and granddads youth!!! I was disappointed though, cause my dumb ol cousins didnt want to go fishing or canoeing!!! Plus, my mom told me to "stay away from the river"! Parents sure have a way of killingg dreams, dont they!!! Or so I thought At the time!!!

When DW and I approached the big bridge crossing over the Mississippi, going from Arkansas to Tennesee, I was as nervous as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs! I was tingling!!! Somehow, I thought there was something magical about THE RIVER, of my adventure books!!! We crossed, and I was still the same, but still, I FINALLY CROSSED OVER!!! Coming back, was kinda ho hum, me bein an expert now at crossing THE RIVER!!!  Instead of going straight back to texas, we headed up through either Little rock or Hot Springs, up hwy 7 I think! We wound up at Spider Creek resort, some cabins on the side of a mountain, that trailed off to the WHITE RIVER!!! The White river was the last undammed river in the country, a distinction it nolonger has! dont know how many dams are on it, but the closest one to where we were, created Beaver Lake.

Anyway, me and DW and the boys, got us a cabin for a couple of nights and got to fish the river of my dreams! As a boy, I had heard so much about the White River from my Dad and Uncles and grandparents! How they all fished it and pulled trout out of it big as pike, and for supper too!!! Sometimes, they used a rather dubious method of fishing...dynamite...But, back in the 20s and 30s folks were a might poor, and any method used to put food on the table, was a goodun!!! There's another river called the Buffalo river! My grandfathers told me that fish was so plentiful, they would spear them from the bank of the river!!! WOW...my boyish eyes and face would light up when I heard that, I'll bet I was a sight!!!

Me and DW and the boys walked down to the White river, rods and zebco bait casting reels in our hands!!! they were small bass rods, but heck, them ol rainbow trout dont mind what you catch em with...but I can tell you this, if they aint hungry, they aint biting!!! We use corn and salmon eggs for bait...We caught about a 8 or 10 both days, whatever the limit was for 4 people!!! We cooked them up both nights, and they were everything I thought they would be and more! We just had salt and pepper and butter to season them with, but they tasted as good as the best candy ever laid to tastebud!!! I finally got to fish in the river where my dad and his brothers and their dad fished! And here I was fishing with my beloved and my sons...what a memory!!!

Time travel...I do it everyday...Me and Coop and John Boy, pilgrim souls, walking the many fields and meadows where our hearts long to be...to rest...to dream...at peace...

Mornin to all you Waltripians. Beau I think my new pup, Liz, may be related to Coop. Her current favorite place/toy is the couch! I made the mistake of getting her up on it so I could watch the Astros game. She did settle down which was the intent. What was amazing though was that she watched the game. Not many dogs I've known would do that. She doesn't pay any attention if it is just  regular programs. Liz and the cat, Sugar, seems to be getting used to each other. Actually it's just Sugar adjusting to the pestiferous pup. they touched noses this morning without Liz getting swatted.

I'm not sure that DW is being tolerant with your furniture moving obsession. I think she is a smart lady and knows that trying to change you would be like trying to teach a pig to sing. She wouldn't have much chance of success and it would irritate the pig! No offense intended DOD.

Time to go to the chow line. Keep on keeping on,

Rich

Beau Wann, Jr.

none taken!!!!       Does Liz root for the stros or theother team! Will we have to have her tested for performance inhancing drugs????

Just thought I'd pass this along, I made up with Home Depot!!!! A month or so ago, I sent them a scathing email about their service, or the lack thereof!!! they e'd me back apologizing etc, saying they would make things right!!! Yeah yeah yeah, says I!!!

I went to the new HD on I-10 at Bunker Hill, SHAZAM, SURPRISE SURPRISE SURPRISE...what a difference! Service was good and friendly and helpful!!! So I fired off another e praising their efforts to do whats right!!!  OH, I GOT A 10% VETERANS DISCOUNT, AND I didnt even have to ask for it! The little gal at the check out looked me in the eye and grinned, and said, "youre a vet right"!!! Yesum I says, "TEN PERCENT OFF," SHE SAID, AND GRINNED EVEN MORE!!! Which got me to grinnin!!!   Now that's what I'm talking about!!!!!

Another bit of info!!! I have been touting the food at a small diner/cafe called Angies for sometime, and about how good their food is! It is still good, but it really isnt a good place for all youse friends o mine! Got to looking around at all the rough characters that frequent the joint, and I dont think yall ought to have lunch there!  Theres better places, with just as good a food! Pappas on 290 is good, Gabbeys on Shepherd, is good, Colinas on 19th good! carters and cooleys on 19th, across from Harolds, makes great samiches!! So yall stay away from Angies!!! I'll go, and let you know how good it is!!! Today I had the Marquis de salisbury steak, very good, with frahd Okra, that was picked too late, kinda woodie, and black eyed peas, very good, and a yeast roll with real butter, and tea!!! All good!!!

Jim, ABC propanes prices are high! initial cost of new 20 pound bottle, is 54 dollars, and 16 to refill it! Krogers is 39 and 16.99 to replace!!! At ABC, you own the bottle, and when the exp date runs out, you got to spend another 54 to replace it! Krogers, never expire!!! I think I will go with Krogers!!! But, go inside, and they got alot o cast iron contraptions and other stuff, like flame throwers etc! I have a flame thrower, or red dragon! use to use it on weeds, till I caught the shed on fire! I'm banned from using it in the hood, so it's up at the ranch! I start my wood fires with it, but keep a charged up hose and or fire extinguisher handy!!!

Think I'll take a nap...all the other critters are layed out snorin!

Afternoon All:

Ya'll is toooo mucho funny.....well, since noone really documented the time travel thing (in Sandia Mountains, in New Mexico?) that subj. has been retired, although I really enjoyed Beau's rendition of it, I need to remember to do a little of that....retreat back and "feel" the memories.  Thanks Beau. I get sooo aggravated with the state of the World today, that sometimes I just feel I wouldn't miss this crazy ole world and will gladly trade it in for a sane and wonderful crossover existance when it's time, which is, of course, what God promises us. We are reading Revelations in Sunday School.....Chpt 20.

Richard the LH - your little bitty pup sounds soooo cute, I can see why you had to pick her up!  Liz is a good name...Biz Liz, His Liz, Is Liz, Lil Liz....etc. We are waiting for a pic of the little wonder of the World!

Sunday, I drove through the Heights and I am astonished at all the change, and building that has taken place....Mamma Mia!  It really looks like a wonderful pictureques neighborhood in which to reside (the right address for sure), so much for the old cottage homes, wish I had moved there many many years and I'd have a little more gold in my pockets now.  Ifin I stay here in Anderson long enuff, prices may escalate to an higher level as well, maybe I could finally afford myself ho, ho.

Good luck on the new grill Beaudiddly.

Beau, of course Liz roots for the Astros. We don't desert our team just because they are having a rough time. Although I'm beginning to think I'm going to get to experience what it has been like to be a Chicago Cub fan all these years. It's still a fun outing to go to the ball park with friends.

Set the shed on fire huh? Does that mean you have the potential to set Grimes County on fire? Don't forget they're the land of milk and honey not ashes and crispy critters! Good that you learned how to fight fires in the Navy! Beau a couple of places I haven't tried in a long time are the Texas Cafeteria on Shepherd (near Fiesta) and the AAA Cafe at the Farmer's Market are they still any good? Just down the street from AAA is a seafood place named Tampico. Haven't been there in about a year but it is really good. They make seafood soup that is great. They have an outdoor dining area on the second floor that is very pleasant at this time of year.

Kay the cat had a different slant on names for Liz such as pestiferous, disruptive. annoying but I think her favorite was doggone. Although she seems to be accepting her gradually. I'll find out from Jackie how to post a picture and do that so you can see her. She'll melt your heart. She's having a little intestinal problem I think from the antibiotic she is taking. I put her on boiled chicken and rice for a couple of days. I hope I don't have  too hard a time going back to puppy chow.

Beau and Kay were you both axle deep in mud after the rains of Friday and Saturday? I thought you both might have been slip sliding away.  I guess if B. Diddy didn't leave OF he wouldn't have had that problem. I was real proud to be on hard surface roads. We sure needed that slow steady rain of Friday night and Saturday but that frog strangler late Friday afternoon was a mess.

Everyone have a good evening and keep on dancing,

Rich LH

Rich, the Texas cafe, is very iffy! One time it will be ok, and just ok, and the next, inedible!!1

Had lunch there a couple of weeks ago, and had the chicken fried steak...ABSOLUTELY THE WORST INEDIBLE *^%$&# I have ever had the misfortune to eat!!!! I gave it back to the m and swore I would never come back, and so far I havent!!!! Whats so bad, is that they dont care!!! They have a terrible attitude, just down right hateful! Dont eat there!!!! yuk

Havent tried the other places! As you can imagine, I take my supps and lunches very serious, especially if I am paying for it!!! If I want bad food, I'll cook it!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually , I am not in Grimes county, I am in XXXXXXXXXXXX county! Dont want to give out where It is, case the Marxists bunch in washington are reading this!  Been following stuff out of the American Kremlin, and they are going after the churches through the EPA and ACLU! calling it "Faith Based" initiative!!!  Where is the outcry from the press of, "separation of church and state"???? Aint it funny, Helen thomas, a white house reporter, was all over George W when he mentioned "Faith Based" initiatives, "why was he against separation of church and state"!!! The leftist media, which basically is all the media, screamed at GW about sep of church and state...Not a word now that king obumer has floated "faith based" initiatives...just boggles the mind...

Luck to you and yourn
