In Memory

Patricia Ann Harris

Patricia Ann Harris

In loving memory of our dear classmate,  Patricia Ann Harris - October 9, 1946- February 3, 2016

Per Jenny Taylor - 4-19-17

In my search for our missing classmates, I undertook to find Patty Harris.  I found two Patty Harris’ that were born in the same year in Texas. One had passed away last year and from my data I believed she was our classmate.  But before making that announcement, I had to make sure. So I enlisted the help of Pat Edwards Oberpriller who was a close friend with Patty and had visited with her after they both moved to San Antonio. I found Patty’s ex-husband and he gave me her son’s phone number. Pat called him to verify that we had the right Patty.  We did.  Patty passed away February 3, 2016 and was cremated.  There was a memorial service, but the son couldn’t remember an obituary. The funeral home did not have one on their website.  Pat gathered information from him and along with my info, we came up with this post to honor our friend:

Patricia Ann Harris Bohne 10/9/46 - 2/3/2016

Patricia was born in Dallas County October 9, 1946 to George Alfred Harris and Dorothy Marie Milligan. Patty and her first husband, Bill Dorbandt, had two children, Cindy Mason and Kenny Dorbandt and five grandchildren, Wesley and Ansley (Cindy’s children) and Thomas, Ben and Willie (Kenny’s children).  Her second husband was Allen Bohne.  She is also survived by her sister, Judy who still lives in Houston.

Patty loved spending time with her grandchildren.  She also had a passion for traveling and had visited many places in Europe, Mexico and the Caribbean.  Kenny recalls going to Europe with his mom as a young teenager.  Patty also loved restoring cottages in the Alamo Heights area of San Antonio.  Kenny said they would buy a cottage, move into it, restore it and Patty would work the garden.  She would then sell it and purchase another and repeat the process. She loved all types of gardening and was a volunteer for the San Antonio Botanical Gardens and very active in the Association.  Her family scattered her ashes there.  Her son also said she had a degree and worked in social services.

Note - Pat E. sent Patty’s son Kenny a copy of his mom’s senior picture. He was very happy to get that.  Pat has fond memories of her friendship with Patty and said that she had this easy, laid back disposition and fun spirit and remembers how Patty loved to sing Blue Moon by The Marcels - a fun song and a fun friend.  I remember her as a sweet, kind, and always smiling. Our condolences to her family and friends.

Patti Harris was a friend.  I am glad that she had children and grandchildren to love.  I moved twenty minutes from San Antonio in 2012.  I wish I had known she was so close.  She always had a smile on her face.

Thank you, Jenny, for continuing to search for our missing classmates and, in this case, seeking Pat Edwards help. I appreciate your constant effort to find out what has happened to members of our class that we have lost contact with. Thanks again!
