Cindy and I had been friends since third grade. Our families were also very close. Cindy and I attended Sam Houston State for 2 years before she married Pat Patton and they moved to Bullard. They had two children, Melissa and Jason. Melissa's first year in high school, Cindy contracted breast cancer which settled in her spine and eventually found its way to her brain. She passed away July 11, 1995 two days after her 50th birthday. She was a loving wife and mother, very active in her community and church, and was the only child of Sid and Silvia Boudreaux. They were a very close-nit family. When Cindy died her father went into a deep depression and joined her 3 months later. I spoke to her mom in 1997. She was still doing well even though she was in her early eighty's. Jason was living with her at that time.

I am truly sad to hear this. Cynthia and I were in most of the same classes at Black. We were seated in alphabetical order, most of the time, which put her "B" right across from my "G". So, Cynthia and I frequently swapped our classwork for grading. I remember taking my papers home with a note, "graded by Cynthia Boudreaux".
My dad jokingly pronouced the name Boo- drocks. Since this was the first time I had seen a French name, it took me awhile to get it right.

I remember Cynthia as a nice, somewhat quiet girl. We only shared a few classes at Waltrip, but the teachers no longer allowed us to grade each other's paper.

Sweet dreams, Cindy.

I went all through Garden Oaks Elementary with Cynthia and then on to Black and Waltrip. She was always a good friend, and her mother was wonderful to all us kids.
