Beau

Just wanted to make sure you saw that your favorite incumbent won in the primary. SJL is I know one of your real favorites.

I hope one of my least favorites Bill White goes no further in his quest for Governor of Texas.

Beau and Teddie, my memorable event in a men's room took place on a business trip. I had to change planes in Newark. I had always heard that Newark was a tough city. However, it is the only place I have ever seen an armed guard posted in the men's room. I was sort of glad that I didn't have to leave the airport and that my plane left on time.

Back when they redrew the legislative districts I got moved from Bill Arher's district to SJL's. Talk about culture shock!

There is a really good column in the business section of the Chronicle today. Scott Burns writes about how our society has changed since the Ozzie and Harriet days to now and how everyone has to change to meet the the current times. Anyone that doesn't have access to the article let me know and I'll send you a copy. I think you should share it with your kids and grandkids that are old enough. He even quotes a verse from Rick Nelson's hit record Garden Party;
"It's all right now.
I learned my lesson well,
You see, ya can't please everyone,
So ya got to please yourself."
Amazing isn't it that that record came out 38 years ago! It's worth the few mniutes it takes to read the article. I'm not sure but you may be able to read it on Burns website, www.scottburns.com.

I went out to see Rice and UH play baseball yesterday afternoon. I took a client so it was work(!). If you like baseball you should go out to a college game. Rice, HBU and UH all have nice facilities. It's an inexpensive entertainment outing. For those of you located north of Houston A&M, SHSU or SFA would work too. Just get out and enjoy this great Spring weather and the kids like having fans in the stands. If you prefer, go watch the women play softball.

Looking forward to Fudd Tuesday!

Yah,
I sawer that too! good ol camera hoggin jackass lee!!! of course, since she is black and I am white, that makes me a racist! But I dislike boxer and feinstein and pelosi and clinton...etc ad nauseum...
and they are white, so now what am i??? A politicianist???? yeah, thats the ticket! I dislike them all with equal fervor! That would make me an equal opportunity fervorist!!!! Or as the pseudo-intellectual would call me, "a cynic"!

How many times do we have to be tricked and lied to and beaten up and screwed and robbed etc before we are called what we really are, realists!!!!
Disgruntled realists!!!! "I'm mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it anymore" realists!!!!

But hey, dawn patrol was good!!! Lots O squirrels! Not as many as in Washington, DC, but still a plethora!!!
Mr and Mrs Redtail Hawk were out hunting!
White water on cole crick slowed down some! Turtles out soaking up that glorius sun!!! Me and Coop too!!!!!

Gonna go look at some fruit trees and pecan trees for the ranch! Shoulda already had em in the ground, but been too cold and wet and bad and nasty! You know, a politician winter!!!!

My beloved, who was a eagle girl scout, useta sell em and she said they changed the receipe and the folks that made em! usta make em with real butter and real eggs and shugar!!!

Yeah yeah yeah, thats the ticket, REAL BUTTER...

Of course having to deal with the likes o me, the R word, and all the students she has had to put up with over the past 33 years, well, they would haveto make a knew category, "Saint Girl Scout"!!! Now, she aint perfect, she says "heck" and "shuckydarn" from time to time, but Heck, and shuckydarn, who dont!!!!

Ok, gonna go meet Kevin for lunch and look at trees!

So remember, "a mind is a terrible think to wit"

Post Script: Anyone get the answer to the country without a capital???
Hollar "uncle" when you give up

03/03/10 01:14 PM #2331

Douglas Romans

Technically speaking, Beau, it could be argued that Vatican City is the only country in the world with no capital. Yes, it is an autonomous country of just a few acres but realistically the country IS the city and vice-versa. But maybe there is another better answer???

As for the 2 countries in the world with the same city capital names (but with different spellings)--they are Iran with its capital of Tehran and Albania with Tirana,
which was intentionally named after Tehran.

Good choices though for St Vincent & Grenadines (Kingstown) and Norfolk Island,Australia (Kingston)--but don't forget Kingston, Jamaica too--but I would exclude those as not being true sovereign nations in the usual sense.

John Cazale (remember the incomptent brother "Fredo" in The Godfather?) was the only actor, ever, to appear throughout his entire acting career in nothing but academy award-nominated films for Best Picture. The films were The Godfather, The Godfather II, The Conversation, Dog Day Afternoon, The Deer Hunter and The Godfather III (posthumously in archival footage). These were his only movies.

Oh, now you just happen to mention you wanted soverign nations!!! Well that just changed everything! I would have given you the correct ones had I known, that you want ed soverign nations!!! How about an insoverign nation??? Or maybe an insolvent nation???? Or an insolent nation????

Howsomever, the country I was thinking about with no capital, is TOKELAU, NEW ZEALAND.

Now, what is a major country with no capitol????

I'll give you a hint, the initials are USA!!!

Now it also seems that we have no National capital either!!!

almost 3 oclock, and just 61 gredees! I thought it was supposed to warm up to almost 70! LIAR LIAR PANTS ON FIRE weather channel!!!! Maybe I'll go ride my iron horse today! Rode yesterday, and WOW what a day for it!

Hi Ya'll... I've been reading, but I have actually had work to do at work and it has really been interfering with my play time, which includes the Forum. I have enjoyed the snippets of valuable information I gleam from your thoughts.

Burge... really (6 reallys) that you are on the mend.
Hugs to all... See you Tuesday

Richard Meek '65

Paige, surely with all the profound wisdom , thoughts and philoshies that are exponded on ad nauseum in this Forum you must get more than snippets. I mean really! Jackie should be trying to figure out how to preserve all this information for posterity. Maybe even get it preserved in the Library of Congress or the Smithsonian or the Bullock Museum of Texas History in Austin! I mean this is heavy duty stuff!!!

03/04/10 10:35 AM #2335

Paige Talley (Meek)

I agree that for 'posterity' (not to be confused with posterior) the Waltripian's Forum should be preserved and bound as The Forum speaks "volumes" about our times, trials and triumphs. OR is that Beau speaks volumes...

Hmmmmmmm

Waltripiters (sp?),
After viewing this mornings national "news/entertainment" shows, I feel compelled to relate a global phenomenon resulting from the recent banal movie disaster "Avatar".

It seems there are avid (MORE LIKE RABID) fans who are text messaging and twittering using Na'vi, the fabricated language of the moon Avatar. Seems this "language" was dreamed up by some self-possesed USC egghead linguist at the behest of director James Cameron for the movie--well and good as I have no problem with that as far as it goes to make the movie.

BUUUTTT---
The egghead's name is Paul Frommer and he claims the language has a distinct "Polynesian flavor". On the face of it this is ludicrous and is the first thing I have a problem with--since when should (or possibly could) any alien language have ANY relationship to a language from planet Earth??? Avatar does have a tropical
(ie; "Polynesian") setting, thus the tie-in--GIVE ME A BREAK!! Hollywood thinks the American public is totally stupid--unfortunately their assumption is correct on some level.

Also, the metaphor is painfully obvious as an alien conflict between the US cavalry and American Indians from the 19th century as the Na'vi are armed only with bow and arrows against awesome modern firepower.

Another problem I have is the language is growing as we speak with this idiot dreaming up even more "words" with a dictionary in the works no less. There are about 1000 words invented so far with more on the way--where does all this silly cultish behaviour stop? I know there are more pressing problems in the world today, but all this attention to writing, learning and speaking this crap is a total waste of time--just look what happened to ESPERANTO, supposedly the cure-all international language to be understood by all possessing a fairly high degree of intelligence. It has gotten NOWHERE, folks--maybe 500 people might even "speak" this garbage today.

With only 1000 words and no one being fluent in Na'vi, just exactly how much of a coherent conversation can two people really have?

Yes, I have seen the movie but more as a study in the latest fatuous drivel Hollywood can conjure up rather than seeking any entertainment value which was absent.

Woe is us!!! KLAATU BARADA NIKTO

Kay Watters '65 (Greene)

Doug,

I agree and may ask a few of our high school teachers if they have heard about this one.

It is my experience that most people do not want to learn anything extra, and another language is not favorable for their attention, or why wouldn't we have all learned Spanish, our nearest neighbor, i.e. good job security and potential.

Gee, won't they invent, push anything stupid and non-relevant, that can possibly make one wealthy and notable, just look at how much one rakes in on the internet.

Ridiculous as was the movie. LOL (but I'm not much of a moviegoer and not really into it, although I think "Crazy Heart" is a movie I'd like to see.

(P.S.) thank you Paige, without hope where would we be?

Beau, Burge, and all, have a Great Weekend, the weather should brighten our spirits.

Beau Wann, Jr.

When you speak to me, you better be talking the interstellar language...FOOD!!! dark chocolate, chocolate cake, pudding, tamales, potatos etc...

I know some avatar/polynesian language...hooky lau...
pineapple...cocynut...(i know it is mispelled, just thought Id mess with the avatarianians minds, or lack thereof) fishheads and rice...etc...

You know, there is one real language, that if this bunch of hollywoodinians would promote, it would benefit mankind and womankind and all of kind...THE BIBLE...
Now I know some of it is contraditory, but you can weed out some of that and just stick to the good parts!

But, the more these people disbelieve, and the further away they get from Christ, the less chance they have of being with him!!! Where do I get this from??? I dont know, I have studied and studied it, and it's just my belief and where I have arrived! These folks best put God and Christ back in their lives...thus sayeth the Right Reverend Beauregard!!!!

HOPE??? There is always hope, unless there is no hope, then it is hopeless, then you have change...and thats a hopeless change folks!!! Think about it!!! Or not!!!

Speaking of God and Hope, my therapist, Pegasus and I, went for a ride up 290 to Chappel Hill. One of the 12 things a motorcycle taught me, is "four wheels move the body; two wheels moves the soul" !!!! It's funny, I think about God as much on my bike as I do in church!!!

Took Pegasus out today cause my body and soul needed it, that and I did a 120 mile tune up ride, getting ready for a 400 mile "Wounded Warrior Ride" coming up in May!!! We will meet X number of wounded veterans from the Iraqi and Afghanistan operation, at Bush airport on the morning of May 21, and escort them to Port Oconnor for a bunch of fun fishing trips!!! These guys need some fun!!!! We wont be fishing, just gonna escort them about 200 miles!!! I have been on other "Wounded Warrior" rides and these guys are just incredible! They treated us like WE were the honorees! They loved our bikes, and the collective sight and sound they made!!!

I could go on and on by saying we were honored by honoring themm but you know what I mean!!!

I sure hope it doesnt rain that day!

Saw a plethora of hawks today, and even one of them in it's nonavatar dive for some prey! that sight is just incredible!!! The hawk hung in the air on a thermal, not moving in any direction, just suspended!!! Then it tucked its wings back and dove at mach I or so it seemed!!! Didnt come back up, so it caught what it was after! Sun went away on me, so it was a good thing I was in heavy cold clothes!

Stopped in at the Chappel Hill Sausage factory, and had some...whatelse, sausage!!! Not bad!!! I like the venison and pork sausage from Holmes Sausage in Richmond/Rosenberg!!! Believe it or not, the venison pork sausage has only 1.5 grams of fat! less than beef etc!!! It is so good!!!

Oops got to run!

Lloyd Pond

Stopped at an antique store at Chappel Hill on 290. Lots of good junque and the people were friendly and nice. Everything I picked up the guy would say,"Want me to load that up in your car?" I found some Usmc lapel pins to go along with my Dad's Dog Tags. Some how we let some of the momentos slip away. My brother has his K-Bar knife. I have a USMC blanket and the tags plus lots of papers and pictures. He served on a South Pacific isle along the equator and probably never used the blanket. We had another New Zealander blanket that he traded for. I guess the military is like the Boy Scouts be prepared. A neighbor served in Europe and nearly froze to death. Wrong boots, coats and everything.

03/06/10 08:19 AM #2344

Beau Wann, Jr.

Hey Lloyd, great find those USMC lapel pins! If you are looking for more USMC or military memorabilla, there are folks at the Gun Shows that sell it! My grandsons were interested in the old K-Bar knives! They didnt want a shiny new one, but one that maybe had seen action, one with a history! I was impressed at their interest in historical value in things! I mean, theyre teenagers, hormones in tennis shoes!
I just might find a couple of old ones and giftem to em!!!

Last Gun show that we worked, had a table of wares, towards the end of the show on Sunday, I finally sold my old O/U shotgun! It was ok, but nothing special, unless being possessed was counted as something special! Had a tendency to fire both barrels at one time! Now, if you were ready for it, it wouldnt bother you, or me anyway! But if you werent, it would rock you back like a howitser! Anyway, I sold it and bought an M1 Garand! I have wanted one forever, and just never really shopped for one!

I brought it back to our booth, and both boys eyes lit up like they had found the Holy Grail!!! I know how they felt! They touched it and held it and worked the action!
Me Too!!! Showed em how to close the action without losing a thumb! But they were just impressed by the history of the Garand, not necessarily because it was a gun! I just love watching their eyes light up! When I am responsible for that, just makes my day!!!

I traced the serial number, and it is an easy one to remember, and it was made at Springfield Armory sometime in 1943! I wont give the exact date lest prying spying eyes be monitoring this site!!! Going to try to track where it went after it left the springfield armory!!! See if it went to westpac or europe!!!
there are lots of M1 Garand websites on the net, just have to find the right one!!!

The Marines didnt start getting the M1 till towards the end of Guadalcanal campaign! Most had the 03 springfield! Generally the Marines seemed to be the "redheaded stepchild" of the services, why for, is beyond me! Unless them being part of the dept of the Navy, making them appear to be a Sub-branch of service,
which they were not SUBordinate to anything or anyone in my opinion!!! Or maybe since the ARMY seemed to run everything, they thought the Navy was inferior, and since the Marines fell under the dept of the Navy, etc...

Also too, the old China Marines of the 4th, and those that had fought in the "banana wars" ie Nicaraugua, thought the 03 was far superior than anything before or since it's inception! They called the M1 a "Mickey Mouse piece of s***", that is until they got to use one and dial it in, accuracy wise that is! Their sentiments about the 03 being a superior weapon was not unfounded, however! I have an article, which I cant find at the moment, (theres a real surprise) of a civilian farmer shooting an 03 right out of the armory off the rack, using case ammo, (nothing special) and hitting 70 straight bulls eyes at 1000 yards, using open sights!

This was at camp perry some years before WWII! He lost to a Marine Sargent using a "tuned" 03 with a scope!!!
They named the match after this civilian, oh and he was 70 years old too! After the match was over, they told him he could buy the 03! He didnt have the money, so they took up a collection of 62 dollars and presented it to him!!! Man have I gotten off the beaten track here! I believe i was just commenting on Lloyds USMC find!

Hey Lloyd, if you havent gone to sleep, or shut the computer down due to my long windedness, I too was in the pacific, and got a wool blanket, actually two of em!
I still have them! Guess you could say I stole them! They probably didnt pay more than a couple of dollars for them, and anyway, I kind of figured I earned them!
One is grey grey grey with U.S. printed on it! The othe is OD green with U.S. printed on it! They are in the cedar chest, being that they are 100% wool!!!

One of the reasons the services wanted wool, other than warmth, was they are naturally flame retardant! they will burn, but only smolder and not flare up! And on board ship, that is most desired! If we had a fire, we would grab our blankies and wrap up in them! You could run through flames and if you were covered well enough, you wouldnt even get singed!!!

Lloyd, or anyone, if you are looking for anything in particular in military memorabillia, let me know, and I will keep an eye out at the gun shows and antique dealers! It isnt rare yet, but prices going up! Of course with the downturn in the economy, folks are starting to come down on prices some!!! Smart move!!!

Guess I will get off the forum for now! Catahoula jack, the security ID checker and now hall monitor is trying to check one of the cats IDs much to their displeasure!
I have given the job of Hall Monitor to Jack, cause when the cats start to run amok, which is often, he is ever alert and chases them! Of course when he catches one of em, he is sorry he did! But he still chases them when they run!

Me and Coop going out on late moring patrol! It is 43 degrees!!!
Happy trails mine patient friends

Ok,I dont like to put facts and info out there without proper corroboration, so I found the article on the civilian shooter at the 1921 Wimbledon Cup Match at Camp Perry! (American Rifleman July 2003) The course is the same now as it was back then, 1000 yards and you had to shoot 20 shots from a prone position! The mans name was George R Farr from Washington state, and he took second place!!!

Mr Farr had drawn a National Match Rifle at Perry! He didnt have a spotting scope, so he took an old pair of binoculars and sawed them in half and used that! He drew issue ammunition because it was free. There was no 1000 yaard"dope" (range info) on the rifle he drew, so he knew nothing of how it shot! The first shot was in the 4 ring, which is unheard of because of the elevation he had to use! The next shot was in the five ring, and then he reeled off 20 consecutive bullseyes!

He shot against a Marine Sergeant named Atkins, who was using a scoped Springfield firing Remington commercial ammunition! The duel between the two, Mr Farr and Sergeant Atkins, lasted all day! They both shot until there was no light! (can you imagine, they didnt have outdoor lighting at that time??? well, after all, it was 1921!) Mr Farr shot 70 straight bullseyes before the light faded. I got his age wrong, he was not 70, but a mere youngster of 62! And, he didnt wear glasses!

Also got the price of the rifle wrong, it wasnt 62 dollars, but the whopping sum of 41.00 dollars!!!
The civilian teams got together and purchased the rifle, and gave it to Mr Farr with a plaque on the side of it!
The Marine that bested Mr Farrs feat, shot 76 consecutive bullseyes, but with a scoped rifle!

The next year, a trophy was presented to the High Shooter in the Wimbledon match, in honor of Farrs remarkable accomplishment. The "FARR" trophy has been a standard since then!!!

I know, I know, more trivial info than you wanted to read about, so, there you go!!!!

ah,yes, open sights and wool blankets.i like both;you would think that a wool blanket was no good in vietnam but a 40 degree drop in temp at night with the rain pouring down could be cold.on a blistering hot day at 130 degrees you could see a 40 or even 50 degree drop.a wool blanket was good then,

I fondly remember in the 50's as a kid cozying up to a very warm brown army woolen blanket on many a cold winter's night thanks to leftovers I had inherited from my 2 older brothers' Army/Navy Surplus Store's wares of WWII and the Korean war. I also had just about everything but weapons from that era--an inner liner WWII helmet, backpack, canteen plus its canvas holster, ammo belt, ankle leggin's and an entrenching tool (a small shovel for digging foxholes/trenchces).

I remember "camping out" as a kid in my back yard packing all this gear as if on Guadalcanal or Iwo Jima and shooting "Nips" as they were then called. No political correctness accepted here as history prevails as what it is at the time!!!!

Hey Burge, keep them keys going brother bearcat!
Yup, them ol itchy blankets came in handy!

Mine are tucked away in the cedar chest, under my peacoat and dress blues! I was a size 38 back in them good ol days! Now I'm a 48! Sure wish I could wear that peacoat again!! I really like it, it is 100 percent wool! I've tried to get my beloved to wear it, but it is too heavy and large for her!
My grandsons are now all over 6ft tall, so it wont fit them! Maybe my grandaughter Haley would like to have her "Beaupa's" Navy peacoat!!! Besides being a good coat, it has a history! I use to wear it when walking the flight line on the Midwatch 12 midnight to 4 AM!

I would be shivering and teeth chattering! Then I would go into the guard shack where there was a gas heater, and I would get so sleepy I would almost fall over! Couldnt have that!!!! Couldnt fall asleep on watch, that was punishable by Death!!!!!! And rightfully so!!!

Hey Doug, I use to visit the army/navy surplus stores as often as my Dad would take me! There was so many neat things, It was like being in someones attic!
Academy started out as an Army/Navy surplus store! The one on the katy freeway around Voss, was the last of the surplus type academys! It burned down some 20 years ago methinks, and they built a new two story one, and then I think it burned down! They need to figure out who's playing with matches or smoking in bed!!!!

Went to First Saturday in the Heights today! It has gotten larger! they use to have it behind Kaplans! But now that there is no Kaplans, it is on 19th st just west Colinas! They had all you could eat mudbugs and stuff!
Me and DW ate at colinas! The portobello Mushrooms sauteed with spinach and some kind of white cheese, is absolutely divine!

Been outside tonight, and it is absolutely one of the quietest evenings I have ever experienced here! Almost like something is just waiting to happen!!! Got the snake bite medicine (jack daniels) out and ready! Locked and loaded!!! Coffee pot ready to perk!!! Several cats have been hanging out with me at the same time! Something they seldom do!
Theyre weirding me out!!!

Dogs are cool though! Both kicked back and snoring!!!

Saw a lot of cool things at the antique stores along yale and 19th! Nothing I need though! Lots of books I wanted, but what for!!! I have all the books I could possibly use!!! What is it about book??? I just love them! Each one is like a treasure chest! Not original, but true! Remember the quote; "There is no frigate like a book"??? So true!!! The librarys are no fun anymore, because you cant peruse the stacks! You have to look the book up on a computer and then the attendant will get it for you!!! Booooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Spent last thursday waiting for a package from Cabelas!
I just love getting packages in the mail or UPS or Fedex, dont you!!!! The first package I remember waiting for, I was about 4! 1949 methinks! We, my sisters and I ordered 3 hand puppets, Snap, Crackle, and Pop from whoever owned Rice Krispies back then! I think they cost a grand total of 25 cents! My mom sent off for them, of course, but we knew about it! I remember when they came, they were in a small box, about 3 inches square! I remember the box had stamps on it, instead of the metered stamp of today!!!! My sisters were Snap and Crackle, and I was Pop!!!! Still am!!!

When I was old enough to order things on my own, I would order stamps from The Mystic Stamp Company, and other such treasures from Boys Life! Cloverine Salve was one of them!!! Even today, I still anticipate whatever I ordered, like I was a little kid again! Wondering what size and kind of box they would be shipping my treasures in! My beloved ordered two pair of house shoes for me from Cabelas that was scheduled to arrive Thursday!
Shure nuff, they showed up 4:15Pm! but I had to stay home all day! No matter, I got a lot of yard work done!

Cabelas sent them in 3 boxes!!! Yea!!! Two small shoe boxes in one larger box! I musta been a "bag lady" in a previous life, cause I love boxes and bags and tins and jars! What in the whirld is wrong with me!!!
Doesnt seem to matter how many times I see a sunset or sunrise, or a hawk hunting, or sitting on a fence, or a flowing creek etc, I view each time as if it were the first time I have seen that particular sight!!! Just a kid at heart I guess!!!

Hey Bernd, where you??? Watched HGTV and new home buyers looking for a place to live in Berlin! They were getting married, and were looking in the heart of Berlin! WOW, things are sure expensive there for what you get! They looked at condos, and two of them they looked at were still being built! One of those, had no kitchen for about 250,000 dollars!!! Once they bought the place, they would have to pay to have a kitchen put in! Thats a puzzlement to me! One of the condos they looked at, there was a zoo across the street, or a place that had two brown (grizzly) bears! You probably know where I'm talking about, I dont!!!
Do you live downtown Berlin????? Sure would like to visit Germany and all the european countries! Is England considered European??? After all, it is so close!!!

Guess I will try to go to sleep! Didnt sleep much last night, suffered an anxiety attack for some unknown reason!!! Dont know where that comes from! I'm not afraid of anything, except maybe bears and lions, and sharks, but I dont think we have too much to worry about here! So far, we havent seen any in our neighborhood! Plus I have a tank, and I think I could discourage their advance!!!
I guess it stems from fear in the subconsious! I guess thats what happens when you are a paranormal schitzophreniac, eh hoser!!! Sometimes I wish my subconsious would become unconsious for a spell!!!

I suppose I ought to close for now, so I will! The chirping birds in my head are getting louder!
Speaking of cooper, he is head butting me as I type this! Guess he wants to go out on midnight patrol! He thinks he is in the service I suppose! So I guess we will go out on midnight patrol! It is so quiet and still out! Ok, the right reverend beauregard signing off!

Good morrow to all

that is sharks fin soup by the way.plenty sharks in the water;have you seen the land shark?it was a toy made for tottlers a few years ago,had little wheels underneith which drove the levers that raised it up and opened its jaws like "jaws".anyway it was neat;no harm, just creative.we need something creative to unlock the stearing on this ship and stop its drift.the leftist pirates have sabotaged the gearing so well throughout the years that they are beyoub repair;stockmarkets drift and we experience shakesperes'"sea change" instead of colombias' "PARADYME[paryadigm?] SHIFT'"we have shortcircuited the delicate 'fly-by-wire' stearing.our dynamoes are polorized and our security is stymied by political correctness.we cant even send out an s.o.s.;who in this world cares?we may drift two or three years, the only stearing will be by the weight of people running port to starboard and back trying to figure out what happened.really rocking the boat.the ballast is in the center of the boat.get back to the center and be still;that is simplistic i know but you cant argue with physics.what does the left think?while trying to "out-cia the cia" they have forgotten that we have the soviet archives and a couple of dynamic kgb generals cooling their heels in well appointed safe-houses here and there;deconstructing the entire web of soviet intrigue for the last 60 years, under very positive pressure.what does the far right think?that we dont know all about the neo-nazi movement?half of them are fbi agents.ive been high up on the bridge, observing the turf wars down on the deck.even the most passionate is forced to be a realist from time to time.coming to the center is repugnant to some at each extreame;the majority have no problem with it because it works, both tactically and stratigically.the far left has worked hard to destabalize the ship of state;thier conservative movement is facist, ergo, communist[statest].it is the big well-known.with stalin et al.by sabotaging that which had worked quite well, they have hamstrung themselves.what an exciting time we live in.

Soup sounds good to me!!!!

Chicken mushroom barley comes to mind! Howsomeever, if you are having a samich, say, tuna or chicken salad, then tomato Bisque is an excellent choice! All low or no fat of course! Instead of mayo I use ranch dressing for the tuna and or chicken salad!

Back from the Little country church in the city in downtown Oak Forest, across from that hot bed of acadamia,F.M. Black JUNIOR HIGH!!! We had 38 christian practioners today at church, counting the minister, choir, and piano player! Mr and Mrs Theissen were in attendance also! Love seeing them!!! We had communion today! I slept in today, so I didnt fix breakfast this morning! I was so hungry, that when the bread came around, I was tempted to just take the whole thing!!! But I didnt! Did take a rather large hunk though! But I generally do! I need all the help I can get in the religion dept!!!
The liturgist today, was a lady from Bastan, Mass! She has been here for 20 some odd years, and it sounds like she just got off the bus! I love hearing her dialect!

I had a friend in the Navy that was from Boston! You could have cut his accent with a knife! I dont know why we were friends, neither one of us could understand each other! Maybe that was a good reason to BE friends! When we were together, either on watch or whereever, it was like two deaf men trying to converse! We could hear each other, but just didnt know what the other was saying!

The wine for communion was pretty good too! Of course we furnished the wine and bread, so it was ok for me to help myself!!!
After Church, me and DW went to Gabys bbq joint up on shepherd!
If you go, the smoked turkey is excellent, the potato salad is good, the fried okra is excellent! The BBQ sauce is tooooo tart! They must use a gallon of vinegar, and a teaspoon of other stuff!!! Whew, that stuff will make you sit up and shudder and make a face!!! The turkey is a tad dry, so ask for gravy instead of the sauce!

The little woman conned me into going to Home Depot to get some roses and dirt and other foreign substances!
Brought home 7 rose bushes, and several bags o dirt and mulch etc! NOW I HAVE TO PLANT THEM AND TAKE CARE OF THEM!!!!!!!!!! I did get some blackberry and raspberry and blueberry plants for the ranch! Suppose to rain all week long! Boo! Soons it quits raining, gonna plant all the stuff! Probably wont get any berries till next year, but when I do, I will put up some blackberry preserves and bring em to fudds!!! Blackberry preserves are to me, the best stuff for a biscuit or toast!!!

I guess I coulda warned you at the beginning of this entry, that I really didnt have much to say, of any consequence! Well, you probably havent gotten this far anyway!

Glad to hear from you Brother Bearcat. think I will take a nap before bedtime!!! You know, It may sound like I am griping about not sleeping, but really, it's a blessing!
I get to spend real quiet time with my critters, generally they are asleep, and I am stroking their fur! And I get to see the times that other people just hear about! No noise, aside from the noise in my head, or other distractions! I can work in my garage and not be disturbed by phones or anything! Grab a cup O joe and sit out on the swing with the "hall monitor" Jack, and look at the stars and moon etc! I have tried to put the stars together like "orions belt" etc! the onliest one I have ever identified in 65 years, is the little dipper! That one is hard to miss!!! Oh, and I can identify the moon!!! And the north star never seems to appear in the north! Whats up with that????

Ok, the voices in my head are telling me to sign off!
So I will sign off!!!
Your frien and brother olbeauwannkanobie

Moanin mine waltripians,
Been moving about since 230 this fine moanin! It is now shortly after 5 and the menagerie is wanting breakfast! Nope!!! not until 6 do you get breakfast!

Hey Bernd, just saw on the weather channel that it is snowing much in your area! Says hundreds of motorists are stranded on the motorways! Big wrecks with fatalities and injurys! you still ok????? Man, you stay inside and have some coffee and a danish! Wait till summer to emerge!!!

It is 57 here, and damp, but then it generally is humid down here in the delta! We are supposed to get lots of rain today and tomorrow and some wednesday and then back to clear skies, for a day or two!!!

Burge??? You awake??? Now, thats a silly question, of course you are!!!

Put some beef soup bones in the slowcooker last night! Been driving the dogs crazy! They are walking around with their sniffers in the air! I remember going to the store, and the butcher would fix yp a box of bones for our dogs! And that was pretty much any butcher! Havent asked in 40 years if any butcher would do that! I doubt they are allowed now, due to some bureaucratic BS that some idjit thought up to "save us from ourselves"!!!

Hey Teddie, and Jimmy, do you remember Tommy, the butcher at Mangum supervalu??? My mom still remembers him! He use to cater to all the customers as if he was their personal meat cutter! Of course all of us back then would take very good care of all of the customers!!!

I sure miss those days, when everyone strived for excellence! I did in everything, but school! I was so bored and LAZY LAZY LAZY as far as school was concerned!!! A prime candidate for one of the special labels that the establishment wants to hang on kids nowadays, instead of bearing down on the brat, and making him or her do the work!!!

Some, to be sure, are rightly labeled! however, the symptoms of "special" kids today, woulda fit most of us boys back in them good ol days! Sure glad they didnt have the pigeon hole mentality back then, I'd be more worthless now than I am! They just expected everyone to perform, and most did! I pretty much got by because I was smart, but lazy! That is the key word, "lazy"!!!

This area is where DW and I differ! Naturally!!! She has been in special ed for 30 some odd years now, and she sees what really goes on! She is pretty smart in her profession! She knows when some child really needs the "special" label, and when they are just being clowns, or trying to play the system, so they dont have to perform their best, and be the lazy bums they are going to turn out to be!!!

To be fair, most of these kids do not have a stable home life like we had! Some are being raised by their grandmothers and or aunts! Parents nowhere to be found, or whacked out on crack or some other "recreational" drug! I do remember one parent, Mr Jackson! He had 5 sons, and he was in their bidness everyday! He made them tow the line, and they did! These were in ghetto conditions! I watched them grow up! DW taught all 5! They all graduated HS but where they went from there, I dont know! Some got football scholarships etc!

I remember going to a few of the youngest, Rudy, football games! When Rudy would carry the ball, or make a good play, Mr Jackson would say, "thats my boy"!!!
Made you proud to be a small part of that!

How did I get off on school??? Oh, you know me, ol dopey me!!!

Anyone watch the oscars??? I didnt...again!!! Havent seen the oscars or other "sporting events" in 30 years or so! I would have to ask my beloved just exactly when! The weather channel has just gone crazy now, shouting out the news, and the oscars!!! I just want the weather, otherwise, I'd watch one of the talking head shows!

But anyway, they said that Sandra Bullock won for best actress! I have loved her since I first saw her in "Demolition Man" with sly stallone and others!
I thought she would do well back then! I dont think she has had the "vehicle" to propel her to greatness, such as the Hepburns etc, are thought to posess!

They never said for what movie Sandra Bullock won the oscar for! Didnt know she was even in one this year!
Well, thats not surprising, I never go to movies anymore!!! They dont advertise them like they use to!
Remember the "trailers" before the main feature, at the Garden oaks and other theatres! Thats how I learned to spell O-K-L-A-H-O-M-A ok! I thought I was pretty clever learning to spell it that way! I thought that I was cheating by singing it out as I was sspelling it! I was afraid Mrs Simpson would not approve of my spelling method!

So now, when oklahoma is mentioned, I start dancing and singing in my punkin head! Cant help it, it's just stuck there for ever!!! I never actually saw the movie, just the trailers! I could generally tell which movie was for me by the previews, and I knew "Oklahoma" and the like, wasnt one of em!!! Ok, now the weather talking head just mentioned oklahoma, so now my idjit brain is singing it as I type this OKLAHOMA O-K-L-A-H-O-M-AAAAAAAAAA...
AD FINITUM!!!

One of the few "singy dancey" movies I saw was "The Student Prince" with Mario Lanza! I loved the part where they were all at a big long table, drinking beer and partying hardy, and Mario stands up and starts singing "Drink drink drink..." and stands on the table! Man, that was inspiring! Of course, I was a little feller, but I thought that was something to look forward to! Couldnt wait to start drinking beer and standing on the tables singing!!! I'm certain I actually did that in me youte, but just dont remember when or where!!! Many a time I acted a fool because of strong drink, and me being a fool anyway etc...

Ok, ok, it's breakfast time at the zoo!!
Hey bernd, let us hear from you!

yore ol buddy, obiewan
