Jennie, Fran and I and our girls worshiped at St. Stephens from ‘66-‘75. Jack Schultz was our beloved pastor.

Yes, she certainly was the glue that helped hold our class together.  Her absence feels so real, even from this far away.  Praying that her family and friends are brought comfort by all the wonderful memories we have.  I can see her smile and hear her laugh as I write this.

I am so saddened and shocked to hear of Jjackies passing, The last thing she posted was abour my wife Linnys passing.  I will miss her so much. She was such a caring person. She encourged me to come to the reunions and i am so glad i did.  Got to see old friends and enjoy memories. Our class has a lot of great people in it and Jackie was one of the best. Even tho i had to come to the last reunion by myself Jackie was there to greet me with a smile. I will miss you dearly rip jackie

I know that Jackie was an encourager but she was more.  She truly was an intercessor  thank you Jackie for creating a website and encouraging us to stay together.  I love you, Jackie and will continue to remember your grace.

Like many others on here, I was touched by Jackie through the years.  Starting as Girls Scouts together in elementary school, she was always a special person.  This website is amazing, and she did such a great job of supporting us all through the years, even though she was going through so much herself.  Thank you, Jackie, for being you!  We will miss you, and heaven has gained another angel.

Jackie’s memorial service yesterday at St.Stephen’s Methodist on W. 43rd was a beautiful tribute to her very well lived life! Present were her her two daughters and son, and spouses, five beautiful grandchildren, about 40 WHS ‘64 classmates, many friends and family, and by raised hands about 20 of her cousins. The church was full!

Her daughter Cheryl, two cousins, and best friend and classmate Glenda McDonald Smith, all spoke about her life. All of them did a great job, mentioned Jackie’s loving, caring, unselfish nature, love of life and family, friends and gatherings! A beautiful and very special celebration of the life of a very, very special person. Rest In Peace dear Jackie, until we each get to see and hug you again at our Heavenly homecoming reunions.

I guess you could say, "Jackie brought us together once again"! ! !   Very nice memorial service although it just didnt seem to be enough for Jackie.  What else could have been said for our dear friend?  Not enough good words in Websters playground to be sufficient enough to do Jackie justice.  As if good words could bring her back to us again!       Just a silly old man with childish notions, I am.       I guess I'm just missing my friend! ! !  "Oh heart, I hear you beating..."

Jimmie Lee Smith (Brawner)

Our sweet Jackie set up this website and had the foresight years ago to ask Beverly Hengst to be her backup to assure the website's continuing to exist for all of us.  Beverly has agreed to train me to be her assistant in maintaining the website and we'll eventually bring on others so what Jackie kept going for so many years will be ongoing as long there is one of the class of '64 still kicking.  So, if any of y'all would like to join me to work with Beverly to learn the process of maintaining our website, let me know and we'll schedule a time that works for us to have a training session with Beverly.

Seeing so many of y'all at Jackie's service just reinforced my feelings of being so blessed by our friendships since our teenage years and our support for each other in our "golden" years.

Beau Wann, Jr.

Goooooooood mornin Chappell Hilllllllllll....Frosty 29 gredees morn at CHIMACS (Chappell Hill Intergalactic Meteorlogical and Corn Pone Society) .  Spent yesterday battling 30MPH winds, covering cold sensitive plants, TWICE. First effort was very unceremonously strewn about  the hill by an ill wind.  Had to rethink and regroup. Finally goter all done around sunset.  Unless the wind is at your back whilst you man the helm of a four masted square rigger, then the wind is useless!

What a beautiful day it is today!   With the exception of joints and bones hurting, I feel pretty good. Finally got over my month long toothache, even though it had a root canal 25 years ago and extracted before Christmas last. Doc Holiday called it "dry socket". Had one of those before, but it never lasted a month.  Is there any worse pain than toothache or earache?  Maybe!  Sometimes my joints/tendons etc hurt like a toothache or earache, guess that's what makes them so bad.  But today, not too bad atall. I'll take that blessing any day!

Just in from the Houston Marathon, Diane and I.  Well, not actually at the Marathon, but we ran, well, walked 7 times around the inner fence around the house, which is over a mile, whilst the Marathon was taking place.  Diane won, and I came in second!  Dixie-Belle and Jack started out with us but  decided laying in the sun was more to their liking. I have to agree  with them on layhing in the  sun, however we did walk in the sun, so that counts!

Jimmy Lee and Beverly, thank you so much for stepping up and taking over for Jackie.  I volunteer Diane to help yall.  After I post this, I will tell her she volunteered for the website.  She posted on her brothers year, 74 about his death, and there was no response.  There has been no activity on the 74 site for 4 years.  Dont think any class has the class we do. What a blessing we've been bestowed.  Thank you Jackie, now it's thank you Beverly and Jimmy Lee!

Hey Teddy, count Diane and I in on the "Bikes for Kids of KIA, WIA, MIA.".  Let us know the exact day and time and location and we be there fo sho!!!      Dont see why we cant donate a bike or two for the cause.

Just talked to my beloved, and she has enthisiastically agreed to help with the website, with guidance of course on what needs to be done.

Time to deplane and sit in the sun with the pups and cats.  The pups are lucky in that they can be oustide in the Sun the live long day.  The cats, indoor only, have to follow the sun from window to window, which is not too hard a feat!

I shall return at a later hour to beguile and regale you with derring do feats from my feets a moving hither and yon, to and fro, and helter skelter.

Keep the sun at your six and the son in your heart and ride boldly ride....
Your frien and resident wacko, Cephus Windsinger olbeauwankanobie esq.

Beau Wann, Jr.

Frosty hot coffee mornin to youse myne fyne Waltripians.  No snow, but ice pellets, sleet, or whatever youse call it.  Out before dawn with the pups, call of nature and all that!   Bout froze myne fyne behynd all to heck and gone.  Jeeze, dawgs dont seem to mind the cold, absolutely no regard for my feelings at all, which at one point wereze numb!   35 degrees and blowing average 19 MPH, bout 3/4 of an inch of the wet stuff since midnight.

Dont have to get out today, as far as eye knwo. Just overseeing the canine operation, making sure it all goes smoothly out on the frozen tundra, then back in the warmth of ye old farm house.      My beloved, on the other hand, has to make the trek to Houston for bell choir practice and staying overnight with her mom and dad. Get them sorted out and all!

It's official !  Our latest border, Little Miss, is now a bonafide member of the Wann clan! (like she wasnt going to be a memeber. yeah right!)   Just before I was to embark on the trek to Jackies memorial service, Little Miss stole my tie!  That's why I was "open collared" at the service.  I have other ties, somewhere around here, and wearing a tie whilst doing road work, or tractor work, is not a requirement, yet, so I had no back up tie.

Dixie-Belle usually will hide my socks and or any clothes I lay out on the bed, by laying on them.  Annie-Bob will push my boots over and lay on the uppers. So, I generally have to lay out a decoy set of clothes and hide the ones I'm actually going to wear. And One Eyed Jack will impede my progress by standing in my path.     What I do for love! ! ! !

Wind is just howling out on the frozen tundra.  Sounds alot like what Ike sounded like, rockets taking off. Even so, we've had a pretty mild winter so far, yea!  Use to love rainy cold winters, but no more,  mon ami.  Wow does it make ones bones hurt or what!  On my 3rd cup O Joe and bout to get another one, so scuse me, be rat back.....Hmmmmm Hmmm, good coffee!

This weekend was Dolly Partons birthday, so happy birthday to Mz Parton. Love her voice!  There was also, a Dolly Parton "look alike" contest and parade in Belleville this Saturday past, and I missed it.  Been looking forward all year for that event. As they say, "maybe next year"!

For all youse "green thumb" youtes,  the daffodils are coming up and blooming down at the creek, and the Glads are on the rise.  Nother couple O weeks, it's "cutting the roses back" day. Generally Valentines day is a good rule of thumb for rose pruning, and to give your loved ones flowers, and to receive flowers from your loved ones....and maybe a couple O pounds O DARK DARK CHOCOLATE...hmmmm good!

If yall havent visited the "ROSE EMPORIUM" up here in Brenham, it's well worth the trip, if you love flowers. Well, maybe not just yet, I'd wait till March or April were it I !   The owner of the RE spoke at the Chappell Hill Garden Club, which my beloved is a member.  Gave out some good information on roses and the like. Glad she was there and not me, to process the information, as I cant remember doodly squat now days.  "you know what I say, Mr Josey Wales?  I say doodly squat...."

Time to deplane, because my nose is picking up the aroma of almost ready bacon, so can breakfast be far behind?

Keep the sun at your six, seven, eight, nine and all round the clock, and ride boldly ride, bundled up of course....

So sorry to hear that Lynn has had this problem, but so glad that she listened to her body and went to a doctor and got it checked out. She is one of our favorite people, and we thank her for the reminder and wish her the very best in recovery.

Beau Wann, Jr.

Good morning myne fyne Waltripynes.  Glad to hear Lynn is back home and supposedly resting comfortably.  She has a lot on her plate at the moment, taking care of herself and charlie.  Lots O prayers for Lynn and Charlie.  You know,  If I were a billionaire, I'd construct a retirement villiage more beautiful than anyone could ever dream up.  It would be manned by paid college students, and would include every amenity possible for folks to be comfortable, and not cost a dime for the residents.    Yeah, that's what I'd do!

Been a cold and wet winter up here in the Chalps. I've been trying to get on the forum, but my body has been hurtin so bad, cant keep a thought in my punkin haid.  I do hope it's just the cold and damp (outside) and not a harbinger of things to come.  Can you imagine being up in the noth? Chicago? etc. 30 below?   Just thinking about it hurts me more, if more hurtin is possible.  On a scale from 1 to 10, one being the least and 10 being the hurtinest, I'd have to say 10 + Z  squared times 10. Some of that good ol gnu math.

As long as I'm busy, ie working on the tractor and such, still lots O pain, but I find having my mind focusing on the task or tasks at hand, helps to, well, not alleviate the pain, but to sort of set it aside for the moment.  Well, not exactly set aside, but equalled by, like I said, focusing on the tasks at hand, like dismantiling the softball field and moving my shooting range.

Sadly, I've dismantled Coopers Memorial Field of Dreams. It was time ! ! !      I knew there would not be any more attempts at a W '64 softball game, although the last game we played there, will live in my heart forever. Wow, what a great time.   I decided to move the shooting range over between Homeplate and third base, it's a much safer direction. Lots of trees and space and downhill to deter an errant round, should that occasion arise.  I'm pretty sure there would be no errant rounds ricocheting about because I am a hard task master when it comes to safety, especially when mah shootin arns are concerned. There's  still Coopers Memorial Ice Hause for fun and enterainment.

Just looked at the date for the Spring fling, and we will not be there.  We'll be in Galveston where I'll be competing for the whirld surfing championship title.  I'd say I have that title all locked in, wouldnt you!   Nah, just funnin, we will be in Galveston that day,  so I can walk my grandaughter Lucy down the aisle.  What a great honor she has asked of me.  (her dad Jeff, passed away 2 years ago) So the honor has been bestowed on me.  I'd be willing to bet Jeff will be there, me on one side of Lucy and he on the other.  Hope I dont flub it up!

Since we wont get to see all yall at the Spring Fling, maybe Diane and I can just have a party sometime in the summer, and all yall would be invited.  It could be an unofficial W'64 party.  Well, we will see what we will see, eh what ! ! !

Such a dreary day up here in the Chalps, drizzle, fog, and general all around yukiness.  Been working like a mad man last couple o months, etc, pain and all. Dont know why, just gotta giterdone.  I call it "Mad Hatter Syndrome".   You remember the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland?   He was always in a hurry and always late. At least I think it was he. Well, no matter bout the hatter more the former and less the latter, if I dont stop I'll be sadder....stop me before I kill the entire english language.........

Since it's Sunday, I believe I'll stay in and rest up.  Actually been invited to a "stupor bowl party" this afternoon, by one of the neighbors.  Havent decided if we will go yet.   Diane's in Houston this morning so dont know when she will be back, early or late, or if she will spend the night at her mom and dads.  I havent watched a super bowl or whirld series event in years.  None this century methinks!   Who's playing?  Toledo Mudhens and the Appalacian Alley Cats?   Two well matched teams fo sho!

time to deplane boss, so keep the sun at your six and the son in your heart and ride boldly ride...

Your frien and resident nut job, Cephus T-bone, chuck roast olbeauwannkanobie esq

02/08/19 11:27 AM #9516

Beau Wann, Jr.

Gooooooooood moanin Chappell Hilllll....!!!! CHIMACS (Chappell Hill Intergalactic Meteorologdigical and Cornpone Society)    the official weather and atmospheric monitoring station says, "it's cold", and that's a direct quote from the station manager.   34 greedees, wind straight outta the noth at 14, windchill 21 greedees, "lawsamercy child, thas cold", (as my grandmother would exclaim).  Yes indeedy thas cold.  Little Miss wanted to go out on the porch, so I opened the door, and out she ran, then in she ran and jumped on the bed under the covers and is there yet !  Smart cat eh what!

Been a while since last we conversed.  Went to the stupor bowl party, didnt watch the game, but talked to new friends about all kinds of stuff. Left at half time, but glad we went, it was funish.  Havent really done much this week, off and on light rain, lots O wind, and lots O pain.  Getting to where I have to sleep, or try to sleep in my good ol rockin chair. Of course Little Miss wants some of that, and sleeps in the crook of my left arm.   If I move a little, she thinks Im trying to get up, so she puts a paw on my arm hoping she can hold me down. What a little charmer she is!

If yall are up this way, in Brenham, go downtowm and stop in at PUPPY DOGS AND CAT TAILS, just off the square on S Baylor street.  It's in an old refurbished steel foundry and they sell more than just pet supplies.  The owner, Lisa, is just as personable as can be. She has just about any and every kind of treat and food for cats and dogs, all organic too. Good place to visit and shop.

Been trying to shed a few pounds, arent we all.  Trying the KETO diet?   YUK! ! ! ! !   The folks I know on it, have shed quite a few pounds.  One shed 60 pounds since October, and lost 30 pounds the first month. We, my beloved and I, are trying to cut out bread and rice and carbs, sure is hard to do. AND GRAVY! ! ! !

The K diet says you can eat all the meat and fat and butter you want, just no carbs.  That really cant be good for you, all fat!  I went on a diabetic diet in the 90s due to high triglycerides, the count was off the chart. Doc says cut out all fat and sugar, and I did, and lost 30 pounds in one month and I wasnt even trying to lose weight, just get the T numbers down, which I did.

We've tried the 90 second keto bread made with almond flour or coconut flour....YUK AND YUK.  I've been to survival school in the service, and nothing we ate in the jungles or wherever, tasted as bad as the keto 90 second bread.  Might as well eat a spoonful of dirt!  But that's not how the song goes is it, "a spoon ful of dirt makes the medicine go doooown, medicine go dooown..."   See, that just doesnt woik!

I'm thinking cut out all sugar, as much as you can, and eat everything else in small portions, or moderation.  We already eat fresh spinach, squash, cabbage etc, so just cut down on bread and sugar and methinks that will be ok. We will see what we will see eh what.  We've tried zuchinni and yellow squash "noodles", and the former was reduced to mush, and the latter was ok, sort of.  Sure hard to change a lifetime of eating habits.

Also got a heads up on "CANNIBIS" oil, as a pain reducer.  Read up on it, and lots of places sell it now, or what's suppose to be C oil. Read "Texas Gov" site and according to Texas law, only a few doctors are allowed to prescribe C oil and only for epilepsy.  Some folks are selling the so called C oil as a food supplement, which the FDA highly discourages.     A friend says she has and or is taking C oil and it's stopped her migraines. Psychosomatic?  Hmmmm, donno!

There seems to be no regulation on the C oil industry, or calling what you sell C oil.   According to a site I visited, "Joe  Bob" can mix something up and sell it as whatever he wants.    So what are folks selling out there that is suppose to be C oil?   Dont really know!   I was wondering about side affects, and supposedly there are none, cept it makes you tired.  Well, there's a  clue right there, that's liver related, and I sure dont want my liver put at risk, cause it's the onliest (east texas for only) one I have and not easily replaced.

Best thing, check with my sawbones, Doc Holliday,   and see what he has to say, but sure would love to cut the numbers down on my pain from 10 to at least a 5. I believe I could handle that. After handling a 10 fro so long, a 5 is a piece O cake.  Speaking of which I can no longer have, Cake!  Or maybe just a fork full. And no, you cannot stick a fork in a two layer cake and call that a "fork full", already tried that ploy!

Diane and I already walk a mile or more in our shoes, everyday.   Some of it is up a 30 degree incline, well , those of you that have been here, know what I'm taling about, up the hill from the creek to the Coopers Memorial Ice Haus and ball field.     I walked 2 miles yesterday around and around the Fjord dealership in Brenham, waiting on my truck to be serviced.  Just cant sit in a waiting room for any lenght of time, or sit anywhere for any lenght of time, unless accompanied by my sweet  kitty Little Miss.

Just ramblin aint I   ! ! !   Well, like I said, not much going on here cept wind and rain and cold, and I sure dont want to go out in it, being 21 degrees windchill. Glad I dont have to walk down tto the front gate to retrieve the morning paper, eh!   Doesnt matter, cant get the paper delivered here nohow.  Never seen a bunch of wusses like there are in todays whirld. Back when I threw the paper, we went wherever we were told to go, and didnt think twice about it. Just another paying customer for us to please.

guess I've bored all two of you that are reading this, to death, so I'll sign off for now...
Keep the sun at your six and the Son in your heart, and ride boldly rride, wrapped up warm of course...

Your frien and resident  nutter,   Cephus E Lee esq

Beau Wann, Jr.

It's me again Margaret !  Well duh, who else would it be?   BREAKING NEWS....IT'S SLEETING UP HERE IN THE CHALPS...Wind chill still around 27, up from 21.  And another tidbit from CHIMACS in the Chalps...
There are two  INDIAN PAINT BRUSHS  at the top of the hill, one regular orange and one yellow.  They've been there for about a month as far as I remember. They may be  holdovers  from last year, or maybe from the scout team for this years bloomin season. I, me, will keep youse youtes updated on any further developments.

     So sayeth the soothe sayer...
